Oh my I am absolutely in love with these McCray men!!! Helen has succeeding in making these cowboys beyond realistic and so loveable even with their hardheadedness.. lol. A Cowboy and a Gentleman is the story of the oldest McCray, Dallas and the new vet, Annie DeSimone.

Dallas has just bought his way out of his loveless marriage to that gold digger, Chelsea. He is feeling his age and hearing his biological clock ticking big time, but he thinks that he missed out on that chance and has resolved to be a great uncle to his brother’s son. Until he meets the new vet and she knocks the wind out of his sails.

Annie has left behind all that she knows in Jersey to start over and be the town vet in a small Colorado town. Her disastrous first marriage has left her with some big emotional scars, and she is not looking to find love but there is some serious chemistry between her and Dallas from the minute they meet.

These two are explosive when alone together, but the pains of the past throw a shadow over what could be a beautiful relationship. Will they let their mistakes of the past keep them from the possibility of HEA?? Will a serious danger from Annie’s past steal her chance at happiness??

This is a wonderful book!! It has it all!! It is so hot at times you feel like your e-reader just might melt and it also gets all your emotions involved! I will tell you I could not stop reading it till I was finished. I have no doubt y’all will really love the heck out of this one!!

Favorite Quote:

“Yeah, I’m in the mood. You’re beautiful, Cowboy. A woman would have to be dead not to be in the mood around you.”

My Review:

Cowboys that are well-educated, model handsome, rich, smart, witty, fun, well endowed, and sexy. Sign me up for that fantasy please. This collection was sensual and entertaining, but more than a bit angsty. Ms. Hardt’s writing crosses several genres with touches of suspense, humor, lots of steam, and both new adult and adult contemporary romance. I enjoyed and cared for the characters, although I wanted to give a few of them a swift kick to a soft and sensitive area.

Review:

"A Cowboy and A Gentleman" by Helen Hardt was a real delightful romance cowboy read. This novel was one of those that once you started reading I could not put it down until I was finished with it. I felt that this novel was well written and even funny at times.

"A Cowboy and A Gentleman" was of the 'McCray Brothers and indeed I love reading about Dallas, Zack and Chad. This novel deals with Dallas McCray.. now newly divorced from Chelsea meets up another divorce lady..... Annalisa (Annie) DeSimone. ..who just happens to be the new veterinarian in town. After they meet and attraction forms quickly and it looks like these two will become one.... soon.... however, Dallas had been burnt once with a awful marriage and he was determined not to go down that road again. Through a conversation with Annie, Dallas was left to think that she was similar to his ex(having secrets) and he was not having any of that in his life.

Annie hadn't had a wonderful marriage and now that her ex husband was out of jail. Her ex husband(Riggs) had put her through a lot...physical and sexual abuse. Now would this be a problem for her?....she had moved from New Jersey to Bakersville, Colorado...wanting to make a clean brake ....making fast friends with Dusty...Dallas sister in law, Joe(mechanic), the deputy(Doug), and the McCray brothers.....however, Annie had secrets of her own.......Would she be willing to share these with Dallas? The characters were really off the chart ... Great. I loved all of them and you will just have to pick up the good read and find out what happens.

There will be many twist and turns .... so get ready to find it a easy and fast read....definitely a passionate romantic novel and I would recommend "A Cowboy and A Gentleman" as a good read. Please note: THIS IS A ADULT BOOK!

Dallas McCray, newly divorced from his gold-digging lying wife, meets the new veterinarian in town, Annie DeSimone and it's lust at first sight. Sweeping Annie off her feet, he thinks he's found the perfect woman, until he learns she deceived her ex-husband. Dallas is a man who never makes the same mistake twice (as his ex-wife deceived him for years) and he kicks Annie to the curb without letting her explain her side of the story. Heartbroken, but resolute to keep everything professional between them, Annie opens her heart and pours out her devastating story to Dallas' sister-in-law, Dusty (from Ivy League Cowboy). Dusty becomes Annie's best friend and is very angry at Dallas for his behavior. In the meantime, Annie's ex-husband is gunning for Annie to claim what he thinks is his. Can Dallas save Annie and salvage their relationship before it's too late?

I have found myself enjoying the McCray Brothers Series very much and A Cowboy & a Gentleman is no different. I laughed and cried along with the compelling characters as their story unfolded. Heartbreaking, yet sensual and explosive, A Cowboy & a Gentleman is a true love story with real emotional depth and character development. I felt for both Annie and Dallas and rooted for them to work everything out. An easy, yet fast read, this book has something for everyone who loves a good and passionate romance story.

4 out of 5 Licks

Dallas finally has his divorce from his horrible ex finalized. We meet (and hate) her in the first book of this series, Ivy League Cowboy. I was very happy that Dallas’ story was next. I feel like I should give a fair warning to my lovely kitten’s, Ms. Hardt is really really good as writing heroes that come across as jerks! lol In all fairness they always redeem themselves but I’ve found myself telling the hero to walk away on several occasions. Dallas was deceived by his ex for years and has no intentions of finding another woman who would deceive him again. Annie is running from her past trying to make a fresh start. Without giving her a chance to explain Dallas tries to walk away when he finds out she deceived her ex husband. Annie has incredibly good reasons for not wanting to have children with her ex but Dallas doesn’t care. The only thing running through his mind is that he found another liar. When Annie comes up missing Dallas finds out the truth and realizes how much she really means to him, but can he get to her in time to save her?

There are some seriously hot sex scenes in this one. I noticed that this series is on Ms. Hardt’s website under the romance category not the erotic books. I am definitely intrigued as to what her Erotic books contain! lol
