Sloppy writing, way too many conflicts (the author rly said 'lets throw a surprise pregnancy into the mix') and everyone acted 15 😭😭 maybe college is different and it rly is like a high school but her not having any friends bc he 'did not like her' and he is populair??? Be fooor real

This one was conflicting… I didn’t fully hate it, but at times was messy. Idk it almost tried to be too many things at once, the characters felt childish and it felt longer than it was but again it was readable and I didn’t fully hate it. But maybe the worst offense of all is that I just didn’t care?
For all the negatives… I would read the next book from the author because it felt like there was potential there. But this one wasn’t memorable for me.
i really wanted to like this bc i love all hockey romances but what the actual hell yall are lying if u say this writing is good
okay so the beginning. what the fuck like actually genuinely what the hell was that intro i mean okay great we are all sex positive slay but 😭😭 he treated her like such a DICK bro and her roommate ??? and clay??? and first its like ohhh enemies grrr then HMMm why do i react to them like this wahhh then my least favourite line "we are nobodies to eachother" BRO WHAT IS THAT IT MAKES NO SENSE LIKE I UNDERSTAND WHAT WE WERE GOING FOR BUT JESUS BESTIE NO <3
there are quite a few things in this book that irked me like wow IRKED me but seeing as its her first novel im gonna be lenient yk. the plot itself is quite interesting and the idea was fun. but the execution left a lot to be desired. the chemistry between colt and ava was i mean i knew it was there but i wanted a lot more proof ?? yk just the little things. dax is a slay, and i do like the whole backstory part and the fact that theres an aspect of "theres two sides to a story" when it came to colts parents. but a lot of this was pretty- i mean its not far fetched ? but it just wasnt believable. both of them fucked up A LOT.
I do admit there were times i thought they were rlly cute together
the flow of the writing? Where ?? there were a lot of opportunities to use contractions and such and it wouldve made the sentences sooo much smoother. esp ADJECTIVES bestie DESCRIBE.
i remembered more things i hated the singsong "hello" thats *in the style of adele* and the "young dumb and broke" bro why genuinely genuinely why please NO
also WHY WAS IT NOT MENTIONED THAT THIS IS A PREGNANCY TROPE YO

16 pages in i started counting pop culture references; with 33 violations i'm dnf @ 48%.
Edit: This God awful book literally won't get out of my brain right now. The writing was fucking terrible, if you couldn't guess from the need to add THAT many references. Colton and his friends suck ass. Why did everyone steal her fucking m&ms. If you have a playlist in the beginning of your book, please, do NOT include a song from it in almost every chapter. HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO MENTION AVENGERS. also, this book was published in 2023, but a lot of these references are 2019-2021ish? the playlist, it's very 2021ish too.
I was so excited to read this book too, but the poor excuse for writing is my 13th reason.
Wow this was bad. Unless college life has regressed in the 20+ years since I left, these characters exhibited HS behavior at best. But not the good kind, the clichéd kind. The amount of referencing to fingering and “fingerfucking” was just cringe 😂🙈
To my GR friends, DO NOT attempt this. The only reason I stayed the cause so long was I bought the audio, and I’m cheap 😂
I enjoyed this book so don’t let the rating put you off. However, I found some parts extremely cringey that I physically flinched from second hand embarrassment. I like the characters especially Colton of course. However, I think that Ava should’ve went to anger management or something. She clearly needed it and it just played it off as cute. I mean to each their own I just know if someone kept losing it around me for no reason I would tell them see ya later until they tried to fix the issues. Also their growth just happened all of a sudden. There was no build up it just they suddenly really loved each other.
I know what I wrote kind of contradicts what i said in the beginning of this review. However, overall I think it was a cute story. It had great potential. Maybe if I reread it I will see it a different way, but we will see.
I got the Chance to read and review this ARC of Sin-Bin, the first Debut Novel by Anastasija White. I can say that I enjoyed it alot! The book is well written and has a good storyline.
First I want to start of by saying the things that I missed in the book; When I started reading this book I noticed alot of exclamation marks right away, this felt a bit odd to me and I talked to the writer about it which gave her some insight into the readers mind and make changes.
The other thing that I missed in the book was the “dating development” between Colton and Ava. You can tell there is alot of chemistry between them and that there is something but I wish we gotten a bit more of them dating, mostly dates. Now I feel like a lot of their relationship was behind closed doors except the sexual parts, which I absolutely loved for sure >>>> this mouth on Colton? 🥵🥵 Sometimes I felt the characters had a bit of a weird reaction, I felt like sometimes they would get mad out of nowhere or get mad with something that didn’t really make sense. But I think thats a me thing 😂
For this being the first published book by Anastasija I really loved it. The character development was great, also the relationships between the friends and family was all amazing. I love when the characters work stuff out with their parents and this has definitely that!
Ava is such a cool, confident woman. I love her alot and that first Chapter had me shocked from the start 👀 I loved the Humor is this book and all the Jokes. Colton is Hot. I loved him aswell. He is this bad boy who is obsessed with her and that makes him the sweetest boy I’ve met 🥹 he definitely gives me Nate Hawkins vibes.
Definitely Read this book if you like: • Sports Romance • He falls first • Enemies to Lovers • Strong Female Character • Found Family
This book Releases on April 19th in Paperback and on Kindle Unlimited. Definitely check it out if you like any of these tropes!
I 100% recommend it because overall I really enjoyed this story and thought the storyline went well and had me absolutely Shook at the end 😳 I cannot wait for the next book to come out because I’m excited to read Drake’s book!
who tf let these toddlers into a college romance. dnf at 47% because there is no point forcing myself to read when i could write a scathing review instead (i’m marking as read, i deserve the tally to my goal out of pure pity and wasted time for even picking this up). guys, i couldn’t even hate read it. i just had no fucking clue what was going on??? worst part, the new ebook cover is actually STUNNING!!! ITS FLAWLESS!!! i judged by the cover and it bit me in the fucking ass.
this is possibly (most definitely) one of the MESSIEST books over ever read. like what the actual fuck. i can’t even put into words just how mind blown i was simply because i had no idea what was going on, and if i tried to compile my thoughts at all, you’d look at me like i’d grown three heads. i’d been giving nutcracker rat king okay.
why is everyone acting 15? i was reading the first few chapters and actually had no idea who anyone was, let alone who was supposed to be the love interest. also, can we ban the main characters from being intimate with anyone but the main character? like fr. i’m here for a hea, not the mmc fucking some random woman he can’t be fucked taking note of just because he’s trynna avoid his feelings. oh poor baby, you can’t act like a fucking adult. oh and on that topic—not the fmc literally stomping her foot in the middle of disagreements. (don’t ask me their names, i actually have no idea)
i was so put off this for however much i read. whoever said this was good is a great liar.
It was more than I expected. To be honest, I didn't think that I would fall in love so much and be obsessed with this book. I read this book at the right time. I missed hockey romance so much, but this book gave me even more. ∞
Ava was the most inflexible girl and waited so long for the moment when she would admit to herself that she had fallen in love. I wanted to shake her and say, "Don't DENY it”! I know that a relationship is the last thing she thought she needed, but we know that as soon as a hot hockey player appears, all principles fade into the background!
Colton is perfect. Seriously, at first he was a new bookfriend for me, but at the moment he has definitely become a bookhusband for me! ⋆˙⟡♡ I fell in love with this guy. He's a great hockey player. Yes. He is a reserved guy, because of this there are some difficulties in communicating at the right moment! I'm glad that with Ava he started to open up. And I like his behavior at the end of the book, he began to think about his future in advance.
I like everything in this book. Every interaction. For me it was an amusement park because I was experiencing different emotions. I laughed a lot, I fell in love, I got angry, I laughed again, I was touched. I had a lot of worries, in particular, because of Drake. I liked his communication with Ava (yes, I'm really looking forward to his book, it promises to be wow), they really have a connection. But where without drama, right? We see how heroes destroy their borders, and this only makes them better.
I like what this book has led to. I had a premonition! But Sin-Bin is the best thing that could have happened to them in the end!
Clay, I say hi to you because you're a great friend for Ava! And, of course, for Colton! But I will single out Ava, because it looks like this "How it started - how it going". I'm waiting for your book, my Clay.
I read this book in less than one day. I swallowed it. I didn't want it to end.
• • I like it so much that I already want to reread it. Thank you so much for the book, Anastasija. You've done a great job. I'm proud of you. ♡♥♡♥
Don't get me wrong. I liked it, but I didn't love it. It was a bit too spicy and had way too many plots, but overall, I enjoyed reading it. The rating is low because I try to be more harsh, and I want my standards to be higher. But if you like sports romance, I think you'll like this one.
After the suprise pregnancy in the last 50-100 pages, ruined everything like it literally had no purpose other than showing these 2 characters they still cannot communicate and like can we not have abortions for suprise pregnancies cause it never happens.

𝕄𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: Colton and Ava are so electric, you won't know what hit you! Their love story is one that tugs on your heartstrings and leaves you wanting more!
The freaking details and inside jokes MADE this book! Zootopia. M&M's. Winnie-the-Pooh and his honey. The Vampire Diaries reference. IYKYK 😏🤩
The level of steam in this book will definitely fog up your glasses if you have them! Like can't even see after wiping them, type steam! Ava, that's one way for an interrogation... And a punishment... You go, girl!!!!!🤣🥵👀
Kind of a side note, but I super appreciated Dax, Ava's dad. I love how accepting he is of Ava in all aspects of her life. Also, his relationship with Colt was something I didn't know that I needed!🥺😍
I first found this story because of TikTok and immediately went to Wattpad to read it. I loved it while it was on Wattpad and was over the moon that Anastasija's story was being published off Wattpad. I knew I immediately wanted to read it once it came out! I was extremely lucky to get an ARC copy, something that I am exceedingly grateful for. The differences between the two stories show how much Anastasija cares about her craft and work. She managed to make the story more concise while not taking anything away from the story. I absolutely ADORE Ava and Colton. Ava is such a badass FMC. She doesn't tolerate disrespect from anyone and definitely is true to her beliefs and the people she holds close to her. Colton is everything I love in an MMC. He is complex, closed off, and such a strong presence!!!! Such a mama's boy too. As the book goes on we get to see them progress from enemies to lovers and watch their characters blossom and develop. I loved getting to see the shift in Colton's personality and watching Ava open up to someone new. Anastasija also does a great job of involving all of her characters. It's not solely only Ava and Colton you love. It gives a lot of found family vibes, which is something I adore.
I am so excited to see this series expand and show us more about the different characters. I am infinitely grateful for the chance to read it as an ARC!!
At the moment this is a DNF for me. The FMC sleeps with her best friends brother before ever meeting the MMC and it’s only a one and done thing. But she makes it clear her friend would not be happy about that but yet she does it again, at this point I’m only 4 chapters in so I’m thinking hold on is this a brothers best friend romance and it’s not the MMC is another guy. So far I’m not a fan but we shall see

Sin-Bin made for a solid debut, delivering an enjoyable reading experience in certain areas while leaving me feeling somewhat underwhelmed when it came to the characters and romantic dynamics. Although the book had its strengths, including some engaging tropes, it fell short of what I was hoping for in terms of emotional depth and character connection.
The story is presented through dual perspectives, following Ava and Colton, the protagonists whose viewpoints give insight into a mix of entertaining themes such as enemies to lovers, frenemies with benefits, and a classic sports romance backdrop. These tropes unquestionably added flavor to the narrative and provided opportunities for drama and tension. However, despite these promising elements, the execution lacked the spark needed to fully captivate me.
While the storyline as a whole had its moments—it offered humor, heartfelt exchanges, and some entertaining scenes—it didn’t compel me to stay glued to the pages. In fact, it took me a couple of days to finish the book, largely because I wasn’t fully engaged throughout. One of my biggest challenges while reading was finding a genuine connection with Ava and Colton as individuals.
The romantic progression between the two characters felt serviceable but underdeveloped. While their intimate encounters were electrifying—well-detailed and undeniably steamy—it was difficult to invest in their emotional journey. From the outset, their relationship lacked sufficient build-up or depth to make their eventual declarations of love believable. Much of their emotional development only became apparent toward the end of the book, which left me struggling to understand how they reached the "I love you" stage. Furthermore, their initial meeting didn’t leave a favorable impression on me, and the inclusion of a brief other-woman/other-man subplot struck an odd note that detracted from the overall romance.
That being said, where the book truly excelled was in its depiction of physical intimacy. The spicy scenes between Ava and Colton were exceptionally well-written—dynamic, vividly descriptive, and bursting with passion. In this regard, the novel’s exploration of their physical connection became its defining strength. It delivered on kinkiness and intensity with remarkable flair.
Toward the end, however, the story introduced a surprise reveal that didn’t sit well with me personally. While other readers may find it intriguing, I felt that certain subplots could have used more development or resolution to balance out the narrative's pacing and impact. That said, the ending and epilogue were sweet, providing a sense of closure that left things on a positive note.
Overall, while this book contained commendable elements such as spicy romance, engaging tropes, and heartfelt moments, it ultimately didn’t resonate with me as much as I’d hoped. It has good aspects that will likely appeal to fans of this genre, but on a personal level, it failed to deliver an experience that truly worked for me from start to finish.
Sin-Bin was a decent debut. While, I did enjoy several aspects throughout the story, the characters and romance were quite underwhelming in my opinion.
It is dual POVs of the main characters, Ava and Colton, and there are some great tropes like, enemies to lovers, frenemies with benefits, and a sports romance.
The overall storyline was okay, there were some amusing, heartfelt and entertaining moments. However, it did take me a couple of days to finish as I just wasn’t that captivated by the story to be honest. One of the main struggles I had with this book was connecting with the main characters as well.
The romantic development between Ava and Colton was okay. While, I did love all the spicy scenes they had, there just wasn’t a lot of build-up to their relationship. There was also not a lot of emotional connection/development between them until almost the end; so for me I just struggled to understand how they got to the “I love you stage.” I also just wasn’t a fan of how they first met and there was some slight OW/OM drama going on that felt quite weird.
I will say though, the spice/smut was the main highlight of this book for me. The physical aspect of their relationship was absolutely incredible and so well written. Just very kinky, passionate and intense.
The surprise at the end was personally not my favorite and I did feel like there were certain subplots that could have been more explored upon but the ending and epilogue were sweet.
Overall, there were some great elements in this book it just unfortunately didn’t work for me.
Sin Bin is a college sports romance, with our two main characters starting off on the wrong foot. Colt and Ava first met when she had the unfortunate pleasure of walking in on him and her roommate. From that point on they never got along. However, their bodies got along😏 and they end up becoming enemies with benefits. Throughout this time they start to open up to each other, this is a HUGE deal because Colt is super closed off. Ava is also closed off as well but the book made it seem like she was more open but in my opinion they were both pretty closed off. I found that the exclamation points that were used made the writing seem less mature in a sense. I wish we got to see more of Ava’s past and how it affected her, because it felt like it was glossed over.
I thought this was a pretty decent story and the characters were enjoyable. I appreciated that the heroine was sex-positive which is something that isn't always shown in books. I did think the story got a little too jumbled at times though and it made it drag a little too much. There were just a few too many side stories making their way onto the pages and pushing the romance to the back.
I was also becoming a little annoyed at the back and forth use of first names then last names. Every character was referred to at different times by their last name but since it wasn't constant it sometimes got confusing. And there were even newly introduced characters that were only introduced by their first name but that then had their last name said for the first time as if we were already supposed to know who was being talked about.
Overall, I had some issues with the story but I was still intrigued for most of the book. There were some side characters that have me intrigued so I definitely think I'll be coming back to this series.
Not a single good thing to say about this one. Writing was horrible, characters were annoying, plot was chaotic. Even the spicy scenes were trying too hard.
I was given the chance to read the arc version on this book and loved it. I also was able to read it when it was on Wattpad and just knew how much I wanted to see it published. This published version is so much better and I absolutely loved the original. Every detail from how they meet to their falling and their HEA was well thought out and made me wanna keep reading. What I loved was the fact he fell quickly but didn’t realize it. The same can be said for her. Everyone around them saw it though. I loved the friendships with all the other characters. Ava herself is a tornado of a person. Strong stubborn but with a huge heart. Colt pretty much was destined to find her. Their connections with everything make this story such a fun and amazing read. I look forward to Drake's story next.
