This review is probably going to sound a bit harsh. However this is how I feel so...

First, I wanna say that I really liked the previous books and this one was as good as the others, maybe the best until now. And I thought that things would finally start to go somewhere, but again, that's not what happended. So unfortunately, I'm done. I just can't see where Nixon wants to go with this story.

This whole relationship between Heller and Tilly which is the most important thing in the story, it's been ridiculous. Sorry, but this is just stupid. They love each other and want to be together but they just don't. And I don't undertand why. They just keep hurting each other for no reason. She doesn't give him a chance because she knows how he is and apparently he doesn't want to give up on his whore days. For someone who really wants another person, he's not doing a very good job. They sleep with everybody else but each other. WTF?! I just feel like the author is playing with us. She's making a big deal of they having sex, that when she finally make it happen, it will just feel stupid. It will not make sense anymore. Actually the time for this passed a long time ago, this book was the limit, now it just lost the real feeling of the entire thing. She doesn't know how to work the story without holding on to this matter, and now it doesn't even give credit for their relationship and love for each other anymore. How can they love each other but still be with other people without a REALLY good reason?! Like I said I just don't know anymore where she wants to go with this. I just feel like for the main couple they don't love each other enough and for a romance it just kills all the appealing of the story.

After all they have been through since the beggining, when I was reaching the end of this book I was already mad that they were still stucked at the same thing, never moving on, and the book ended with one year forward with her being with another guy.
So this next book is not going to change anything. It's just going to be the same with different assignments for Tilly. It's a shame, because it's actually a good story, good characters and it really had potential, but the author didn't know how to develop it well.

So I guess I just hope she doesn't get more lost than she already have. =/

This review is going to be for books 2, 3 & 4

And be warned, this will be less of a review and more of a rant about how I HATE Heller.

Let me start by saying that despite everything I'm about to write, I actually like reading these books. I think this author is a good writer and she's pretty creative in coming up with security job scenarios. What this author isn't good at is making me like the man who is supposed to be the hero and romantic interest of the heroine in this book. Oh, she writes him well, but she writes him as a total DICK! And alot of what I like in these books has to do with the secondary characters NOT Heller & Tilly.

I think we are supposed to see Heller as this lost soul with a troubled past who just doesn't understand basic courtesies where women are concerned. We are supposed to forgive him for all the crap he does because of this... he's supposedly learning what it means to care for a women because he never has before so he screws it up over and over. Well, this might have worked for the first 2 books but by the 4th book it's just really, really jack-assy!! Not only does his crap not improve by book 4, it actually just gets worse and now it's more painful because our heroine, Tilly, is more emotionally invested in this jerk.

Let me make sure I'm being clear... Heller is a DICK! A big, hairy, smelly asshole!!! Yes, he has a moment here and there where he does something kind or thoughtful but that is only in about 5% of the book. The rest of the time he's unbearable.

For the record, I LOVE reading books with strong, dominating, overbearing, overprotective Alpha Males. I love them!!! Heller is not an alpha male. Heller is a self-serving, vengeful, angry, hypocritical, king of double standards TYRANT. He's always angry with Tilly over things that are not her fault yet like a weak doormat she takes the blame for it all. He goes on and on about how important she is to him and he can't live without her in his life yet over and over he sends her on these ridiculous jobs - oh, Tilly I want to protect you so much now go off and live with this stranger man for a couple of weeks. And by the way Tilly, when things go monstrously wrong, just be forewarned that I will blame you completely for it all. UGGG.

Heller has been the reason for every relationship she has tried to have being ruined. He wants to be able to have sex with Tilly but all on his terms. He wants her when he wants her, he will still have sex with other women, but Tilly is not to have a relationship (or sex) with any other man. Oh, but Tilly shouldn't mind because she's safely in his heart and sex with other women is just sex, but there is no way Heller will accept Tilly having sex with other men. Tilly turned to one of the security men (Ferrall) for help and comfort because Heller was MIA and Heller beats the shit out of him for it and he tells Tilly she can not see any other employees. But Heller is after Tilly so it's ok for him to go after staff, but not her. Another time she starts really caring for a client who is basically just waiting to be killed, they end up having sex and of course Heller knows and he goes ballistic. Under no circumstances is Tilly to sleep with a client and yet Heller sleeps with clients ALL THE TIME. In fact he had sex with a client while Tilly sat in the other room. Classy Heller. You're quite the catch. He flirts with other women in front of Tilly, he flaunts other women in front of Tilly, he gives detailed descriptions of sex he has with other women to Tilly. This guy is quite the gentleman. You can see why I'm so fond of him.

And what pisses me off the most is that Tilly just accepts it all. Ok Heller, you're right, I'm an idiot. She will get a brief moment of standing up for herself but it lasts for about 2 minutes and then she's kissing and cuddling with him again. It's hard to respect Tilly when she let's men use her like she does... and not just by Heller, it's Will too. This relationship is ridiculous. I can't root for this couple, Heller's a pig. There are several great guys that have popped up in these books... ANY of them will do. I really like Ferrall and Bick... two guys who are worlds better than Heller.

The 4th book just really did me in. Over and over Heller gets mad, throws a tantrum, overreacts, puts Tilly in danger, she get's hurt, he's ever so sorry (and yet there is still blame that ends up being aimed at her). The final punishment just put me over the top. I was so angry with what Heller does to Tilly. He really makes things difficult for her but what does our doormat heroine do in response to her unfair treatment????

As far as I'm concerned Heller is a loser and can't be trusted. The first couple of books he was a jerk but the relationship was new and I hoped that he would tame down a bit but after just finishing book 4 I'm so over Heller.

Couldn't recommend a better book!

I had Heller (first book) sitting on my nook for the longest time. I admit, the cover put me off. When I finally started it, I couldn't put it down. Great series. It has everything. Mystery, humor, drama and a cast of characters that the reader can't help but fall in love with.

This is the third book in the series and Heller is still a mystery. We get more glimpses into his character but he is still very elusive. I'm hoping that the next book will reveal more but the author has certainly done her job well. I'm hooked and couldn't stop if I wanted.

OK, when I began the first book I thought that there was some potential with this storyline but here I am at book three and the theme plot and characters are exactly the same as the previous books.

So repetitive so I'm calling a halt because J D Nixon is taking too long to wrap this series up and actually get Tilly and Heller in the place where they need to be.

Heller's relationship with Tilly is teeth-gritting because the cat and mouse game they are playing is starting to smell like stinking cheese. The plot is too underdeveloped and if the remainder of this series is the same then it will be just become a series of insincere smarm.

Tilly is portrayed as a magnet for trouble. No matter what job she takes on she attracts trouble and ends up getting battered each time. She is an overdone drama queen and her character is annoying.

The other side of her "magnetic attraction" and that every man she meets is insanely attracted to her and they want to sleep with her.

She goes off the deep end when her "boyfriend" Will dumps her because he wants more commitment. At the same time, he lets her know that he has been sleeping with someone else who is prepared to give him a chance BUT she doesn't consider her fooling around with Heller as cheating.

I jumped a book and I am ending it here as this story will just frustrate the hell out of me if I continue.

It needs to be wrapped up sooner.

***********Spoiler Alert!!!!*********

This series has me frustrated with all the angst but I just can't put it down!

Didn't really like Heller in this book, the character seemed off his game and sometimes quite dumb. And I think that by the end of the 3rd book we should know a little more about him since we only really know that he is overprotective, overbearing, only wants casual sex, revengeful, violent, loves Daniel and Niq and wants to sleep with Matilda once and for all. But we don't even known his real name, where he came from and why he is the way he is. We still don't really know him or really understand him.

I'm glad that since the first book I didn't see how Heller and Tilly where going to get their HEA because at this point in the series I doubt it will ever happen!!! Specially when he screwed the actress under Tilly's nose, I think he is right when he says that he doesn't 'do love' because if he really thought that Tilly was jealous when he was with other women then he would know how that would hurt her. See, what did I tell you... dumb dumb dumb, off his game and in my book just another asshole.
Another example why he was off his game is what he put up with 'his girlfriend' because in the previous books he wouldn't tolerate that for a second, am I right??!!
Their relationship is so dysfunctional that it makes me laugh out loud and some times makes me roll my eyes and say "oh for fucks sake!!"

Tilly got more action in the bedroom in this book which I loved! She is young and has needs too, why should Heller get all the action!?! I was hoping she would also have a little fun with Brik but didn't happen. I was not expecting Farrell which was a good surprise and I was hoping they would have a little more fun together before Heller spoiled it.
Will... what can I say about Will? Their relationship was doomed from the start, it was just obvious. He was only good for Tilly because she needed an escape from the Heller world but he was an idiot for not being honest with her from the beginning about not being exclusive and I hope she learned her lesson not to be so naive about men and relationships. I also hope that she understands that Will only wants her as a good fuck on the side, that way his life will be fulfilled with the boring wife and the family he always wanted and Tilly for the best sex he ever had on occasion.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to dive into the next book!

3 stars. And I’m being kind.

Oh man, this was painful. Really painful...

What the hell happened?

First book was amazing, second one was not too bad, but this one...

Here comes the most mysterious man, Heller. No one knows his name, age or where he’s from.
He is known as being the most careful man, making background checks on each and every individual that he or any of his employee comes in contact with.

And yet he fails in this one!

In the first book he had shown that he’s really good at what he does, that he’s loyal, smart and not easily impressed.

However in this book, Heller surprised me with his pettiness, stupidness and self centred personality.

He managed to piss me of so badly and so often with his comments to Tilly of being constantly jealous (even though she was, but the way he was saying it, it was pissing me off!)
Or when he asked the most stupid questions regarding relationships.

He sounded like a virgin teenager.

I’m not impressed with him at the moment and I have to admit he’s not as high on my list of favourite character.

And what the hell is with the relationship between Tilly and Heller?!

Ah man, so, so painful. Hopefully will get better.

Loved it. I hated the way Heller acted. I may never forgive him for not being there for Tillie when she needs him. I want him to be her white knight and he tries to but falls short.

The story line was strong. Her new assignments were exciting and dangerous even if they were once again frustrating as well. The sex party was a hoot.

Finally! Finally! I was so mad for the majority of this book but the ending was awesome & left me feeling hopeful

The good
1) The books just keep getting funnier and funnier. TIlly is hilarious & her banter with Heller & the other characters is amazing
2) Finally Tilly & Heller's relationship develops. I was getting so frustrated with reading about them dancing around each other.
3) I can't say enough about the awesome side characters. Meeting Farrell and Bick & even all the clients Tilly works for.
4) The action, this one was had a lot more action than the previous books but none of it was overbearing.
5) Just when i thought I had the book figured out something else will happen that I totally wouldn't expect. This one kept me on the edge of my seats
6) The viking story, I loved that what a nice touch. The ending of this one was fantastic

This 3rd installment was much more emotional for me. I hated Heller having a girlfriend, as did Tilly, but the accident and the trauma near the end were very well done, though I was surprised they were so serious. Great book!

I have a love hate relationship with this series. There are things about these characters that drive me absolutely insane but I also can't stop reading. Entertaining - yes. Do I like the story - I just don't know. I am not convinced there is an end in sight.

This review is for the series books 1-4: Heller / Heller's Revenge / Heller's Girlfriend / Heller's Punishment.

I liked the start of this series. I was interested in the characters and wanted to keep going. The main characters work for Heller at his security firm and all live in his building as a makeshift family. The books follow our heroine, Tilly, on her adventures working for Heller and her efforts at trying not to fall into bed with him. The first book showed much promise, but the series started to go off the rails quickly after. All the drama that befalls Tilly is a bit much. I would have preferred more character development instead of all the forced action and trauma that follows her around. Tilly gets a random boyfriend without much backstory in the second book. Heller does things in books 3 and 4 that are totally out of character. Then I find out that the series is NOT COMPLETE. The author disappeared and it's been years and years with no updates or new books published from her. Anyway, I stopped at book 4 after finding that out. We never get a resolution to Tilly and Heller. Huge disappointment.

Heller 3.5 stars
Heller's Revenge 3 stars
Heller's Girlfriend 3 stars
Heller's Punishment 3.5 stars

The heroine of the story is still in love with her boss and her boyfriend and a few more along the way. The bosses actual girlfriend is a bit stalker scary and there are plenty of fights, sex, blood, and humour.

Ok, this one was better..ish.

Heller just gives me a headache, so let's just concentrate on Tilly. I thinking if you haven't figured out the formula to these books by now, let's do a rundown.

Basically, Tilly's a security guard for a private company called Heller's after - you guessed it - the unrequited love/lust interest of the story. She's the only female (I'm still trying to figure out why more females haven't been hired yet, hell, even a perky cute secretary would lighten the testosterone load) and is an Amazonian to boot. She's a verified 'trouble magnet' as something bad happens to her almost every other page in the book.

That's okay, that's why we read stories like this. To read about Tilly getting in/out of horrific scrapes. Make no mistake, they're pretty horrific, but the one thing I wish the author would do would make them a bit more lasting in the reader's mind, but from what I gather it's really not that kind of story, so I just move on.

In this latest saga, a million and one things happen (as per the usual Heller novel) including Heller getting a "girlfriend" (just a serial lay, really) who is satisfyingly bat-poop crazy. Don't think I could've handled a 'normal' woman in this story, I think I'd have stopped reading if it were. I do like how the author doesn't stress on one BIG issue in each of these novels, but a plethora of life-changing events happening in Tilly's life. It's a bit refreshing, actually.

So Tilly is basically the same, she's stuck to her guns about Heller (yay!) and has a gratified change in her relationship status, which I won't spoil for you. Read it and take it as you will. I felt about 25% bad for her, but not really. What did she expect, carrying on the way she does? Then I remember she's only 25 and I move on. Points for Tilly having a lusty dream involving man sandwich btw Bick and Farrell. That'll do nicely, Tilly.

Heller..oh geez, where do I start.

How about with this lovely excerpt from the near the end of the book, it pretty much sums up Heller:

__________

“Why do you do these things?” I asked him.

He stared at me unblinkingly. “I don’t know what you mean.”

And that was the end of that discussion.

____________________

Talk about frustrating. Heller is what I think the author thinks a hardass should be, but she's failing miserably. You can't have a hardass claim to have no clue about women yet bring Tilly champagne and truffles while she takes a bubble bath. No wonder Tilly's having issues with the man.

Is it so hard for these two to TALK to each other, really? They've progressed slightly, but at this point I think I'm going to be six feet under by the time they manage to have a decent working relationship much less a romantic, intimate one.

Props for Nixon and the cliffhanger. Moving on to the next book...
