Not going to lie, but this did not work for me.Why you ask? Well, LG went off her usual trademark tropes and I as a reader did not like it as I much, much prefer her old style. If this continues with LG,then she has lost me as a reader. If I wanted to read about a heroine with a live in abusive boyfriend who chokes and hits her,I will read about them outside the Harlequin Presents line. This type of story line is not what I read an LG book for.
I am not sure what happened to this author in the past her books were top rate but now I struggle to finish the book it is like someone else is writing them
I am a very loyal L. G. fan and have most of her books but definitely this is my least favourite one. L. G. Was always consistent in her main characters, female as strong, independent, Virgin and intelligent. Male as tall dark, rich, handsome alpha male. In this book a female had already a sexual relationship with an another physically abusive boyfriend. The Male at beginning portrayed as being immature, getting intoxicated at social events? For me I prefer not to read romance books about females having previous sexual encounters and/or being sexually and physically abused by previous relationships. if that is as mentioned by another reader is a new style for L. G. Books than I will definitely not invest my money or time into them.
I’ve always found this author’s books a mixed bag. Some are absolutely fabulous whilst others are teeth shatteringly awful. She has a habit of repeating themes and tropes. Horrible heroes that are jerks until almost the last page, heroines who are always tiny and quite often total doormats and being abused by a family member whether it’s the selfish sister, drug addict mother or criminal father.
This was very different with a decent hero who despite the hype in the blurb was actually a thoughtful, sensitive yet still exciting hero. The heroine was an idiot as she’s been living with an abusive boyfriend because she was worried about losing custody of her half sister and brother. Seriously? Do Mills and Boon authors never actually examine the legal practices of the countries in which they set their stories?
However - despite the early dislike of the heroine’s starting point and worry about the hero (thanks to a misleading blurb) - I ended up thoroughly enjoying it. Entertaining, sweet, great character development and a lovely epilogue.
I’ve knocked off one star for the dreadful police ex boyfriend. With recent examples of police abusing and killing women, I thought this was an awful choice of plot device and I would expect an editor to notice the resemblance to real life.
But otherwise, I liked this story a lot.

I liked the beginning but the ending felt rushed. I enjoyed Skye and Enzo. They were fun characters and I thought they had good chemistry. I also thought their relationship developed nicely. I think I would have liked one more moment to show them falling for each other.
The ending had a lot happening at once. It was a little hard to keep track of what was happening. Everything is resolved by the epilogue for an HEA.
Overall a good, quick read if you’re a fan of the Cinderella trope and opposites attract.
The Maid Married to the Billionaire begins the Cinderella Sisters for Billionaires duet with a completely opposite couple, one rich and entitled, the other barely surviving an abusive relationship who has custody of her half-siblings after their parent’s death. It’s hard to imagine two people who come from such far different families or circumstances. A confession: I fell in love with the cover long before I fell for Enzo and Skye… which I soon did after starting their story, but that cover drew me to purchase it, to begin with, another example of the power of a compelling cover.
When we first meet Enzo, he is the embodiment of arrogance and entitlement, a rich playboy living a charmed life with no care for anything but getting his own way. He’s in this small town to revamp a property his family recently purchased. It means possible layoffs, some firings, and major changes to a business that really is the heart of this community, as most of the employees are locals. This unwanted duty of revamping this business is an annoyance to him. Something to get done and move on. He’s not very nice, to begin with. This is why I enjoyed his journey so much, as we see that arrogance fall away with his interactions with Skye and her young siblings. By the story’s end, Enzo will be a far different person, and it was fascinating to me to watch that unfold.
I adored Skye from the start. Yes, she’s made mistakes and misjudgments about a man who should have protected her and, instead, ended up being so far from the man she believed him to be. It’s so easy to sit in judgment of someone who finds themselves in an abusive relationship. Skye is responsible (along with her sister) for caring for their half-siblings after their parents’ deaths. They are too young to realize how their world is now upended truly… and Skye did break free, did run when the chance presented itself. Don’t judge until you, yourself, have walked in someone’s shoes. It’s rare for any abuser to show their true colors early on in a relationship – but now that Skye knows what her former boyfriend is capable of, she’s on the run… until her car breaks down and Enzo reluctantly comes to her rescue.
I loved watching this couple fall in love, redefine their personal lives, and heal from the past… for both of them, each in their own unique way. Enzo became a man who clearly could change himself, who did see his former actions and made the changes that were necessary to make a life with Skye. If you love a well-written, emotional journey for both the hero and the heroine and a hard-fought-for happily ever after… then you’d love this one.
2.5 rounded up. Heroine is fleeing an abusive relationship when the hero rescues her on the side of the road. Playboy hero is in exile in the heroine's hometown after his outrageous behavior at his grandparent's dinner party. His penance is to turn around a failing manufacturing company in his family's portfolio.
Besides turning around the company, hero invites the heroine to be his housekeeper, initiates a peace bond/restraining order against the abusive boyfriend, and bonds wih the heroine's younger brother and sister.
Yes, the hero is great.
Ex is violent and stalker-y. Hero decides to marry the heroine to protect her and the children and only realizes he loves her on their honeymoon.
And that's it - that's the story. As for the ex:
Domestic violence as a plot device (with little psychological or legal damage to the heroine) was off-putting. LG rarely writes a non-virgin heroine so that was weird. Also, these characters were young. Hero was only 27. So an unusual HP all around. Hero made the story.
I enjoyed this book, but I did think that some of the story choices were odd. For a book in the Harlequin Presents line, I did not expect to have violence (in this case domestic abuse) in the first chapter of the book (the abuse is not between hero and heroine of course). This domestic abuse, and the stalking of the heroine’s ex-boyfriend, felt like it belonged more in a romantic suspense novel. Therefore, it was kind of jarring when, in the middle of classic Harlequin Presents scenes, there would be a random mention of the heroine’s ex-boyfriend lurking around. I am not even opposed to the ex-boyfriend storyline, but I felt that it did not fit well in this book. The subplot provided motivational reasons for some of the hero’s and the heroine’s actions, but it felt awkward because, after the first few chapters, we never saw the ex-boyfriend or his creepiness from the perspective of the characters. It was always told to the reader after the fact which lessened the emotional impact of the storyline and made the subplot feel forced/not organic.
Also, I love Enzo. He is such a sweetie. 10/10 hero 😊
This is the first book in the series and it is very good. The h meets the H by the road when she is running away from her abusive boyfriend. He stops to help her and finds her with her little brother and sister. The h is a very beautiful, sweet and kind person who loves her family and stepped up to take care of her siblings when their parents died. The H was a playboy who wasn’t looking for love or a relationship but he fell in love with her gentleness and kind heart. The H was a good guy and helped her by marrying her so she could keep her siblings. The plot and characters were very well written. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Great epilogue.
This does have a bit different vibe than other Presents/Modern. I didn't mind it that much though. I do not require my 20-30 yo adult heroines to be a virgin or else DNF, for example. 🤷🏻♀️ That being said, the domestic abuse start was more unique. Most of the time if the heroine deals with this, it was in the past, not "on screen." She is also carrying for her orphaned siblings (3 yo and 18 months) [I didn't have a tag specific for that, hence the orphaned niece/nephew one]. The hero was also different - while he is rich and all of that, he is younger than many Presents heroes (not even 30). He is also very chill. Like, takes to the kids right away, doesn't mind communicating with the heroine, etc. All in all, it was a quick read. Also, epilogue that shows more of a HEA, which was nice.
A pleasant change from the usual LG plot with a Virgin heroine and loads of angst
Skye around 23 and not a virgin. So far so realistic. Heroine's x - a policeman who turned out to be abusive. Sadly also rather realistic.
Enzo - staggeringly handsome unbelievably rich billionaire sadly not very realistic 😂
Skye leaves the minute the abuse changes from verbal to physical and when her car breaks down she's helped out by the hero. He realises he needs a housekeeper but of course the housekeeper soon becomes rather more. I quite like this book, the leads are good characters with loads of chemistry and the kids are cute.
Loved the book! The book was about Skye being abused by her boyfriend and how she grew stronger from the experience with the help of Enzo, who rescued her and her family after her old car broke down. Their relationship started off by Enzo offering Skye a job as a housekeeper so that she had a job and a place to live for her and her two younger siblings. Their relationship started out as friends with benefits to true love. It was a very heartfelt written book!
I can’t believe LG spit in the faces of longtime, faithful, devoted fan to vomit out this total fucking fail.
I read an LG romance for two things: THE ANGST AND A VIRGIN HEROINE. Thats it. I have ZERO desire in reading about a heroine who spread her legs and was rutted and broken in by another man—there’s NO SWOON if the heroine can NEVER give the hero the irreplaceable and emotionally powerful bond of being the one to claim her.
This is one of my favourite authors and this book didn’t disappoint. Enzo isn’t like the usual billionaires in the romance books he has a beautiful heart and is willing to help Skye who’s had an extremely bad experience with her Ex. He’s onboard with the children and helping Skye to get back on her feet. I loved Skye as she’s a no nonsense girl and says it as it is. Definitely recommend this book.
I Absolutely Love This Story It Was A Unique Change And Very Interesting. I Rarely Give 5 Stars To A Story About But This Was A True Top Notch Read. It’s So Refreshing To See A HP Author Get Off The Same Old Story Virgin Meet Rich Man And Change His Ways, Get Real. It Time To Come Into The 21 Century. Some Aspects Took Some Getting Around, But LG Delivered A Great Story, And Not Just Words Stung Together, 🥰
I never “Dnf”any of lynn graham’s stories.. even the shitty ones. So forcing myself to chapter 4 then giving up says alot about how horrible this one is. Snooze fest x10000..not one character is likeable ,not even the kids! ..The dog is even boring!!!
I liked this story I admired Shona for giving up her life to look after her siblings and it was lovely things worked out for her, but it could have been a much worse thing that happened to her she was very lucky.
Skye has just left her abusive boyfriend with her much younger orphaned siblings when her car broke down. Enzo stops to help and offers to take her to place for the night. Then offers her a live-in position as a housekeeper, then asks her to be a pretend girlfriend, then a wife.
4 stars I liked it well enough. Sometimes HP is a good "palate cleanser" when I'm in a book slump or just can't find anything to read that catches my fancy.
I think this is the first time LG writes a non virginal heroine. Anyways heroine was pathetic with no self respect and hero was a lazy man who never worked in his life. Also he was so sweet and nice and boring!….not what I want when I read a Harlequin Presents!
