Highland Sorcery #1

Highland Sorcerer

Rate this book
Charity Greves has the gift of healing. So when a naked bleeding Highlander materializes out of the air into her kitchen, she does what any rational free-thinking herbalist under the same circumstances would do--she heals him. She didn’t expect to be drawn back to the 13th Century where a dangerous whacked-out witch holds the handsome Highlander captive.

Nor is she prepared to be drawn so strongly to him that she’ll do whatever it takes to save him.

Imprisoned by the witch, Toren Limont the High Sorcerer and Protector of the Faes’ magic, uses the last of his magical reserves to go forward in time and find a healer the witch doesn’t have any influence over. He merely seeks the small respite a healing can give him in order to continue to withstand the witch’s tortures long enough for his clan and siblings to flee.

Until Charity falls with him through time as either his salvation or his entire clan’s downfall.

“Clover Autrey’s books are perfect for the time-constrained reader. They are a quick read jam-packed with action, adventure and emotion.”

A high school English teacher by day, Clover Autrey writes the kind of stories she loves to read; strong and smart characters who are willing to fight for what they believe and the people they love. She is the author of the HIGHLAND SORCERY series and the CHAPEL PINES series with a new series about ARMY RANGER BILLIONAIRES coming soon.

Clover has served as the president of the Keller Writers Association and the North Texas Romance Writers of America.

Inspired by her love of Louis L'Amour historical romantic heroes, Clover (yeah, that's her real name), packed up and moved to Texas where she found a real live Texan of her own. She's been there ever since where she and Pat (who else would a Clover marry but a Patrick?) listen to the coyotes howl at the trains each evening.

I wanted to hesitate in putting a paranormal romance tag on this book. Only because it is so much more than that! I just finished this book and loved the whole story. I had been reading a few other books when I started this one and right from the get go this book took all my attention away from my other books and I had to read straight through this one. It was a fantastic read! You have a bit of everything in this from a hot Highland Sorcerer, to an evil witch bent on dominating everything and opening up the world to darkness unimaginable! Shapeshifter, and also others with supernatural abilities abound in this story. The end of this story promises more books to come and I just can't wait to see where Ms. Clover Autrey will take us all next. There was amazing world building and the author done an amazing job with her characters. I loved both main characters in this and even the two others who are important also. She made the characters realistic (if the world were really filled with magic as in this story). The time travel aspect of it was well written also. It all clicked together to form one amazing adventure and romance! It is a must read if you like all the mentioned things above and really want a good Time Travel Romance with just enough magic to make it wonderful!

Another I finished a few days ago and forgot to add on here. Plot went from 0-100 really fast and not in a good way. Potential was there but everything felt ridiculously rushed and underdeveloped.

Who wouldn't love a book where a naked man repeatedly appeared in your kitchen? Well until they put a kilt on him. :)

Seriously, this is as naughty as the book gets. It's a nice, fun, easy read. And after I finished this book, I gave it to my thirteen-year-old grand daughter. She loved it! She said she laughed a few times and almost cried once. I don't do spoilers but we agreed that Ms. Autry creates great conflict and emotional charcters.

Read the first two sentences. Not for me. The dialogue sounds childish. No stars. Can't rate what I didn't read. All I know is this is must clearly be meant for teens.

3 stars.

I loved the humour in the first chapters as well as the lightheartedness Charity gave in the whole story. She made the book so much fun to read with her witty remarks and oh so relatable thoughts.

I also loved Toren. He's hot, loyal, and well, hot.

Kind of threw me off with the druid power but I liked the idea of transferring magic from druid to healing yet still stays true to its purpose.

Then 'she got sent back in time' happened.

It could have been good, but I was too anxious on what will happen to Toren that I just couldn't soak in every word or every chapter in this book.

LIKE DON'T JUST STAND THERE AND TALK. DO SOMETHING.

Anyway. I also didn't like the ending.

It was too rushed. Or maybe I was in a rush. But anyway. I just didn't like it.

I love meself a series. But what I don't like are cliffhangers in a series.

Okay so the other brother got kidnapped instead. AND THEN WHAT. WHAT HAPPENED TO HAPPILY EVER AFTER?!

I'm all about happy endings every book. I can't stand reading the same protagonists per book of the series. (I love per sibling or per person series where they get a happy ending in the end.)

So to say, this is not my cup of tea. Maybe to others but not for me. 😌🙏

Dear Readers,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for stepping into the world of Highland Sorcerer. Writing this story was such a journey for me—full of heart, imagination, and a touch of magic—and knowing that you chose to spend your precious time with my characters means more than I can ever say.

Every page was written with the hope that you’d be swept away into the misty Highlands, feel the danger and wonder, and cheer for the love and courage at the heart of the tale. The fact that you’ve taken this journey alongside me is an incredible gift.

Stories only truly come alive when they are read, and you, dear reader, are the magic that breathes life into the words. Thank you for your support, for your kindness, and for allowing me to share my passion with you.

I can’t wait to bring you more adventures filled with romance, danger, and enchantment. Until then, may you always find a bit of magic in your own life.

With deepest gratitude,
Clover Autrey

A magical trip through time. Chastity is in her kitchen in Seattle, when a badly wounded, naked man suddenly appears. She is a healer, enchantress, but this man must have come trough a time rift for her help.
Toren is a sorcerer but his powers have been bound by a powerful witch, who wants his magic to add to her own. He manages to slip through time but is dragged back.
A real fun and magic filled story. With marvellous characters in both timelines. Our clever author has introduced us to a Clan of Highlanders that I for one can't wait to read more of.

Interesting, fast, but underdeveloped.

This was an interesting tale, the language and action scenes kept me interested. I felt like some background information on the characters were lacking and the story jumps from high action to a few months later and the end.

I loved reading this book. Page after page I was unable to put it down. Such a mysterious world of sorcery, witchcraft, powerful healing, fierce loyalty and the bond of love over time. The coming together of Charity a 21 century mediocre healer and a powerful sorcerer Torin from the past. He was from centuries in the past. He suddenly appeared in her kitchen all bloody and broken. With their combined powers she was able to heal him and got to know him on an emotionally intimate level. After helping him get clean.. he was suddenly drawn back to his time against his will. He disappeared as quickly as he appeared. Charity did not know the adventure of a lifetime was before her. This is an excellent book. It does end in a serious cliffhanger and I wished the rest of the series participated in the kindle unlimited program. As much as I want to find out what happens next I don't want to spend the money for the rest of the nine book series. None the less this is written extremely well and I just wished the author has spent more time on bringing more out of the characters. If you have the money I would recommend the series.

Charity wasn't expecting to find a strange man in her house and he has come looking for her. Toren has used the last of his strength to find healer enchantress and he knows that he doesn't have much time before he is pulled back. Charity knows that she has to do something but she doesn't think that she is strong enough to help him especially knowing that he is from the past and that his family just disappeared one day. Charity knows that she has only one shot at saving Toren and that means going back to the past to find his family. But will they believe her? She knows that she can save him she just needs some time and she hopes that Toren can hold on. Toren's family doesn't really trust her as they think that she is working for the witch and they just want their brother back. And if that means using Charity so be it. Will there find a way to save Toren before it is too late? A good read.

Book raises more questions than it answers

Peculiar story. I guess you just have to go to the next book in the series, which should be one of the siblings. I don't understand why his magic didn't work although Edeen's healing did somewhat. Maybe the author will explain that next time, too.

Lots of unanswered questions. The only answer out of this book is charity and toren are together, presumably for good. I enjoyed reading it. Hope you do the same.

Loved it from first page tell the last page. Great fun reading this book. The characters are superbly written that each book in this series (and yes i have read them!) each book was pure genius! Be prepared to laugh, cry, antsy, mad, scared and find yourself chuckling and or laughing out loud a lot.

Love & Magic

Time travel and magic. What’s not to like? A wounded highlander uses his magic to travel into the future to find a healer to help him. What he finds is a love strong enough to join him in battling the evil witch who wants not only his magical powers but his clan’s too.

Badly written fantasy

Just because one had an idea for a story does not make them an author.

The story has numerous holes. In addition to proper grammar and sentence structure, the author could use writing lessons. They need to learn the rise and fall of a storyline, as well as back story. Good intention but poor execution.

Time travel

I'm not one for time travel but I do love to read about a highlander. I enjoyed the way Clover Autrey wrote about this time travel. It was very enjoyable. Can't wait to read the rest of her stories.

Quick and without much depth. It was a bit convenient that the H/h shared magic and then all of a sudden completely understood each other. With 8 more books in the series and only 3 other introduced characters I wonder if we'll spend more time with this couple.

Lots of action, humor and heart - very enjoyable

Have you ever wondered why magic was lost to our world? The answer lies here.
This time travel romance is full of surprises and interesting characters. I'm ready to read the next in the series.

Surprised

I just thought the story
Was going to be middle ages and castles and knights and magic. Surprised with the evil power of the witch and the magical clan' s power to stop her. Interesting.

Enjoyable, but not real deep. The character development hinted at things that were not really fleshed out and the plot was a bit simplistic.

Even with its flaws, it was a good read.

This long novella was much more enjoyable than I expected, a very pleasant surprise indeed. There is quite a bit going on here in this series launch.

The characters popped off the page for such a condense story. Charity Greves is the heroine and I liked her quite a bit. She was a modern woman who already knew about magic and embraced it. So there were not five or six chapters of her telling herself that nothing was real. The hero is Toren Limont. He is being held by an evil witch that wants to steal his magic. The rules of this fantasy world don’t allow magic to be stolen, only given freely. So the witch finds a shortcut through captivity and torture. Toren escapes into the future to find a healer and is led to modern day heroine Charity. He is only with her long enough for her to heal him because the witch has a tracking device on him and snatches him back. Toren has 3 siblings that I can't wait to read about. The ending was a cliffhanger for each of them.

That's the nutshell but not all to the story. This is a very cheap e-book so if you want to know, go for it. You won't be disappointed. I already bought the next book because I know a good thing when I find it. Good Job Ms. Autrey! I will be keeping an eye on you.

Final note -- there is no sex but there is brogue, kilts, and magic therefore I forgive the lack of sex plus the story didn't really reach a place to put it.
