Zodiac Academy Series 6 books Collection Set by Caroline Peckham. Titles The Awakening , Ruthless Fae, The Reckoning, Shadow Princess, Cursed Fates, Fated Throne
I'm a #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Zodiac Academy series. I write all things dark romance, from fantasy to contemporary, high school bully to mafia, there's bound to be a book for you!
Me and my sister Susanne Valenti now write books together and we've built the most amazing, fun, crazy reader group on Facebook which we would LOVE you to join. Be the first to get teasers of upcoming books, plus interact with us daily, asks us questions, make friends with other book junkies and find your reader home.
It’s badly written, the plot holes are insane and the dialogue is cringey most of the time BUT i literally could not put it down so for that I had to rate it 3 stars at least. It’s a guilty pleasure read but i had fun
honestly one of my favourite fantasy series ive read so far. dont expect amazing writing but you will find yourself hooked and unable to put it down, there were many times i questioned myself and asked wtf i was reading but i physically couldnt stop, its so addicting.
you have dragons, element powers, enemies to loves, forbidden love, age gap ect EVERTHING YOU COULD ASK FOR IN A SERIES and i couldnt love it more.
it may not be everyones cup of tea but its my tea and i would drink tf out of this series 👹🥰
The first 4 books were the build up i needed for enemies to lovers. The friendships. The dynamics. The love and hate. The last book... Non stop. EVERYTHING. Love, tears, laughter, anxiety, hope.... Everything.. Then the last chapter... Oh my heart. I outwardly sighed and did the Aweeee thing.. Im glad the ending was as it was. i dont think i could have handled anything heartbreak
Read 7 out of 9 and just can’t bring myself to finish the final 2! The first 3-4 books were a 3 for me, but they got harder and harder to read. Redundant, repetitive, immature writing and plot with more grammatical errors than I could stand. Found myself skimming pages just to get through it. Hate not finishing a series this far in but just not worth my time.
🔥 Zodiac Academy: A Truly Deranged review AKA: The Horniest, Most Emotionally Abusive Hogwarts Ever Created
Let’s start with the premise: Two orphaned twins get yeeted into a magical school full of ✨elemental fae✨ — and everyone immediately decides they should die because… they breathe too loud? They exist? No one knows. The bullying makes no sense and is so extra it’s like Regina George was reincarnated as four psychotic male fae with abs and parental issues.
👯♀️ Tory and Darcy Vega Main characters and walking punches to the face of common sense. One is “fiery” and “tough” (read: makes everything worse), and the other is “sweet” and “reluctant” (read: lets everything happen). Their main magical ability? Taking endless amounts of verbal and physical abuse while somehow still thirsting over their tormentors.
They show up at this school and instead of being confused and cautious like normal people, they’re like:
“Sure, let’s hang out with the hot guys who tried to drown us, electrocute us, and emotionally destroy us. Sounds healthy.” 💀 The Heirs™ Ah yes, the four fae douchebags with Greek God complexes and all the charm of a flaming trash can:
Darius: Emotionally unavailable dragon daddy. Sets things on fire and your expectations for character growth. Caleb: Vampire himbo who’s 90% teeth and 10% confusion. Max: Siren. Somehow manages to be the least relevant heir and still the most annoying. Seth: Werewolf. Rabid TikTok energy. If the term “feral gremlin” had a human form, it’s him. They spend the first several books treating the twins like crap, and then we’re expected to root for these “romances” like we haven’t just watched a 700-page group therapy case study.
It’s like enemies-to-lovers, but make it felony-to-lovers.
🏫 The School Itself What is this place?? Classes barely exist. No adult supervision. The punishment system is a Hunger Games spinoff. And somehow, the student body is made entirely of people who are either hot, evil, or hot and evil.
Also: why is every plot twist either a betrayal, a new ancient prophecy, or someone literally dying? Reading this series is like being repeatedly hit in the face with a flaming plot twist while sobbing and wondering if the authors are okay.
💘 The Romance Stockholm Syndrome is the main love language. If your love interest doesn’t nearly murder you and then feel sad about it later… is it really love?
And don’t forget the spice: By book four, things go from “I hate you” to “I hate you, but take your shirt off.” It’s like watching a CW show get possessed by a demon who’s into BDSM.
Final Thoughts (If You Still Have Any Left) Zodiac Academy is:
A “dark academia” Hunger Games for emotionally unstable fae Plot armor so thick you could build a house with it 50% sexual tension, 50% actual tension, 100% unhinged Proof that bullying = foreplay in fantasy romance apparently You’ll scream. You’ll cry. You’ll hate it. And then you’ll buy the next book like a trash goblin because yes, you’re already addicted.
Welcome to Zodiac Academy: No therapy. No chill. Just vibes.
It was a slog to get going, the writing was difficult to get into and some insanely frustrating tandem read/novella reading lists...
BUT
I loved it!
Okay, it's not what I expected. I read endless reviews on this series before jumping in because, well, a LOT of books. The reviews were so conflicting. I was really intimidated by the reading orders and tandems (something I hadn't done before). But after looking online and found a great PDF of what order to read, I dived in!
Personally, I only read the ZA books, not the RB series. I know lots of people recommended RB after book 3/4 but I got into a roll and didn't want to stop.
So, it's a little "ick" in books 1 & 2 where the world building is set out. The merge of modern era and fantasy had me struggling slightly. Especially the embarrassing amount of time it took my brain to process the "Atlas". Like, is it a phone, and iPad. I DON'T GET IT. I couldn't get a solid vision on it for at least 4 books!
Special mention to the ending of Book 4 ... the first time I have ever head butted my pillow repeatedly over a book!! LORD. The absolute FRUSTRATION!!! It did however make me sprint to the next book. So, well played.
The character development was super enjoyable actually. There were characters at the start who I would happily have seen thrown off a cliff, but by the last book, I was so invested in them. Namely, Professor Washer. Not sure I will scrub his innuendos out of my mind for a long time. But, Seth. Oh Seth. Im in love!
The comedy had me wheezing at times. Sometimes it was so out of the blue it gave me whiplash. But so well placed.
It had a little of something for everyone. With a lot of unexpected twists and cliffhangers. Your in for a really good damn time!
Reading Zodiac Academy books 1–6 is an emotional endurance test—in the best and worst ways. What starts as a magical academy story quickly turns into a dark, brutal, and wildly addictive saga filled with power struggles, fate, betrayal, and slow-burn romance.
The world-building is strong and immersive, and the elemental magic tied to zodiac signs is genuinely creative. The twin heroines are the heart of the series—their resilience, growth, and refusal to break despite relentless cruelty make them easy to root for. The Heirs, while infuriating at first, gradually become more complex as layers are peeled back.
Books 3 and 4 are the emotional high points, delivering devastating twists and unforgettable moments that permanently raise the stakes. Books 5 and 6 focus more on fallout, consequences, and deepening relationships, which slows the pacing at times but adds emotional weight and maturity to the story.
That said, the series isn’t without flaws. The bullying can be excessive, and the repetition of internal monologues and prolonged suffering occasionally feels indulgent. Some sections could have benefited from tighter editing. Still, the emotional payoff and character investment make it hard to stop reading.
Overall, Zodiac Academy (1–6) is dark, chaotic, and compulsively bingeable. It’s not for everyone, but if you enjoy morally gray characters, intense angst, and high-stakes magical romance, this series delivers heartbreak and obsession in equal measure.
Okay look. I’ve read all 9 books. They weren’t life changing by any means. But I had a damn good time reading them. The first four were just a hoot and a half to read. They read like episodes of reality TV which I greatly enjoyed. I STRUGGLED through 5-8 8.5 was a riot if only for Darius in THAT chapter and 9 was good it just PMO in the end. I would have had a riot had they concluded the whole Lionel crap in the first 7 books and then just let these two run a kingdom and everything that’s involved with that because there’s NO WAY it was smooth sailing in the beginning. I would pay good money for a book that was just a disaster zone of them dealing with all the political crap that comes with being queens. They were not prepared at all really they just knew how to battle I’m all for a happy ending. We all saw one coming. But are you kidding me??? Way to ruin a character at the end of her story. Don’t build up this amazing powerhouse of a charecter just to do that in the end. I was so disappointed with where the authors ended this story especially with Darcy.
I technically finished all 9 books in the main series, so this will be my review for all of them.
This series has been my obsession for weeks! I was absolutely drawn in by the amount of world building, the in-depth magic systems/orders, the many different perspectives and amazing character development.. I cannot tell you the sheer satisfaction it brought me to go back and relive the twins vs heirs interactions from the first book compared to the last. I cried, it was so overwhelming.
I won't lie, the last few books were excruciating to get through.. there was so much hardship and tragedy; our main characters just kept getting kicked while they were already down. But believe me when I say there IS light at the end of the tunnel. The ending is worth it and now I wish it wasn't over!
If you love fae/fantasy, lots and LOTS of spice, nonstop storytelling/a very in-depth plot, and multiple perspectives... this journey is right for you.
I have loved these books since the moment I picked them up, honestly, the way they write it has you able to immerse yourself in the world of Zodiac Academy and each and every one of the characters are thoughtfully written, have easily made it to my top reads this year so far! I have cried, lost my temper, celebrated alongside each and every character and find myself lost in their world as soon as I pick up the books! I like the way the books carry on from the last book without the usual recaps that some books tend to do at the start of a new book. The fact that my ADHD brain can remember everything, literally everything these ladies have written, is testament to their writing style and descriptions! I’ll always be an honorary member of Zodiac Academy in my soul long after I have finished the series! Yes, it is a commitment to read all of the books, but the escape they’ve provided me with from day to day life has been wonderful!
I agree with most reviews on this, the world and story was actually really cool, but the book definitely was lacking in a lot of other aspects.
Most notably for me, it simply had no business being this damn long. This could have easily been done in 3 books and it would have been way better. Im a pretty firm beliver that books shouldnt usually need more than 3 in a series. It is rare that i find more than that to be necessary and manage to stay entertaining/on the plot. There was just so much unnecessary stuff. I ended up skipping/skimming so much just to find the important content of the story and get it over with.
I also wanted to beat crap out of like 84% of the characters because they pissed me off. I am not sure that bullying is my vibe though.
I hope the brother gets a spin off though because I'm super curious about him, he's a really cool character.
3.5/5. I’m writing a general review being on the last book. Considering how I got through more than a thousand pages of reading, it goes without saying. However. That does not mean that it’s good writing. Do I love the plot? Yes. Do I love the concept and men? Absolutely. But it reads like a watt pad story and not the good kind. I also don’t know why it bothered me so much, but it seems like the author had a tendency to insert random songs. It would be like: I’m sitting on my bed, Ariana Grande bursting into my ears. I could have done without. I also don’t see Tory as the kind of girl that would listen to mainstream pop, but go off. I did like the twin stories. I got bored of it after book three when they realised that they have to have a million different POVs for each character. You really didn’t have to. Please just keep it to a minimum.
Interesting concept, characters and plot. I am a little bit of a prude so I am not into the sex part of these but if you like that in a fantasy novel you will love these. If you don’t like me you can get past it and enjoy the several great joining of vampires, dragons, phoenix, unicorns and every other mythical creature you can imagine all wrapped up in an academy setting. There are grey female and male leads and really black villains and you will want to cheer, cry laugh throughout the books. I actually whipped right through the first 6 and had to take a breather and am about to start back on the series in 2026 because sometimes I want to knock some of the characters upside their heads. Lol. My goal is to finish most of the series and the side series in 2026 if I can. This one is definitely worth the plunge into this world. Just be prepared. Each book gets longer in pages as you go.
It may be cringe, it may be over the lines but I love this serie with all my heart. It made me laugh and cry, the characters entered in my heart because they all have a personality and a story that is well narrated. The little details, such as the different characteristic of the various species that are coherent and costant throught the books or the development of the characters and relationships, I loved it all. Also, thank you for creating my favourite book boyfriend of all time: Orion ❤️. The two FMC are strong and their powerfull, not helpless another thing that I really appreciate. The only thing that I found difficoult to keep up with is that the last books offer a little too many povs, they are helpfull but sometimes frustrating.
Like many others mention when talking about this series - it is not well written. It can be cheesy, it blends modern & fantasy worlds in a super funny way, and I genuinely HATED the first book of the series. The way the twins continued to trust people who had f*cked them over, drove me insane. I was screaming "b*tch, you have got to be kidding me" throughout the first and second book!
However, I think both of the authors have a GIFT for writing endearing characters. Somehow, by the end of the series, characters who I had wished would get HIT BY A BUS in Book 1; were all the sudden some of my favorite characters and I wanted more and more time with each of them.
If you can bypass some typos and initial cheesiness, I'm pretty sure you won't regret reading this series. Eventually the cheesiness is kinda your favorite thing in the whole world, and you are immersed in the main group.
This series as I describe it....is a trash series. Not because its horrible, but because it's addictive in its plot twists and the characters journeys. It's like a reality TV show. It's horrible but amazing at the same time. Tori and Darcy..... those girls go through A LOT!!! However they get their shit done. I fear that I will be destroyed further with the plot in the later books like I was with 1-6!! I need to finish the series. I really do. It's got me in a chokehold. LOL 10/10 drama and 5/5 🌶️
I loved and hated this series. Loved the characters. Hated the perpetual injustice, evil and hopelessness. It was action packed and the spice was SPICY. But...Overall, it hooked me with a compelling story and badass MC's but abused and used me as I contemplated not reading on at the end of each book, but atlas, I continued to the end....This series was atleast 20% too long. It took forever to get through and it was a hard journey that didn't feel like it ultimately paid off.
I lover Geraldine more than any character. I also love all the heirs. I’m disappointed there was not more damage done to Lionel- lastly, at times it seemed the authors could have used another round of edits to cut down on the meaningless or redundant words. Will I read the next? I already have it downloaded. Long live the Vegas!
Also I agree with the other reviews about the siblings characters. Yes we need Xavier but the amount of time spent on the other siblings could have been nixed.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This series offers everything, honestly. But Book 6, particularly, has all the feels. You can't help but feel sad in many aspects but then other parts make you happy. You do oscillate back and forth on this part of the story, and the ending...well, be ready because it's explosive!
I was obsessed at first. By book 4 I thought I was going to need therapy because of how sad and deflate the story line becomes. I was genuinely upset that writing could make me feel so low. I had to almost detox before reading on. DO NOT READ if you’re in a vulnerable state because wow that was rough. Still upset about how everything never works out 😡
Borrowed all of the books at once from my local library and read the entire series at least three times in one week. Sadly, the world works in strange ways and I had to return them and don’t want to buy them separately. Anyone know a reliable but vaguely cheap place to buy the whole/some of the set in one?
first few books were amazing, but the series drew on too long for my taste
i do think a lot of people would really like this though! it should be more popular than it is, its just not for me specifically
i recommend this series for people who love bully/enemies to romance, dark romance, and fantasy this author is really creative and has a lot of great ideas i have nothing bad to say :)
I wanted to love this series, but it was poorly written. Dragged on and on. The dialog was often annoying and cringy. There are a lot of plot holes and loose ends. Also, the intimate scenes were too much for me. I have a hard time dnf books so I read until the last ZA book and will not be reading the other spin off series. I will say there was some funny things that made me chuckle.
Super entertaining series, but it takes FOREVER for Lionel to be killed. I did start to get really really annoyed at how much bad luck the Vega sisters have, even after the curse is revealed, but the other storylines kept me going. Definitely a trashy, ridiculous fantasy series but I loved the characters and was able to ignore a lot of the cringe by glossing over some parts.
Loved this book series, infuriating in parts where I had to have breaks from reading as I was so invested in the characters, etc, but 1.5 books left in the series, and it's been incredible. Definitely worth the read!
