This book was a Goodreads/First Reads book. It was a pleasure to read.
Arinn Dembo has put together a collection of stories and poems that wander through a wide range of styles and topics, from sci-fi to mainstream and points in between.
This work is a real pleasure, because it entertains as well as challenges, and the reader learns things along the way, often from a female perspective, but always very human.
My personal favorite tale was "When Push Comes to Shove", in which one character puts himself in harms way for another, standing up for the person in need of some help, as she stands up for herself as well. "When push comes to shove", you really do need to stand up for both yourself and others who may need that help.
Thank you Goodreads First Reads for this short story and poetry collection by Arinn Dembo; it is very very good. Her writing takes the reader right to the intense soul of of every story, and I enjoyed and took away something to think about from every story and poem in her book. I very much recommend reading this!
