This was a good book, very much a small town romance story, charming and fun. It was not what I was expecting however. I thought with the main characters occupations, it would be more of a thriller than it was. It could be described as a murder mystery I suppose, but definitely lacks the action expected of a good suspense or thriller. The storyline was fairly simple, and you could predict most of what was coming. So while it lacked much of a thrill, it was a charming read.
Wow! What a story! Lovely characters, christian romance, funny, filled with humor. Gets you hooked right from the very first page ... Intriguing, heart touching, feel good, suspense, great detective work. Ends beautifully! I totally loved this book. God bless you J.S. MacIver. A job very well ✔!
This author needed a good editor. Wrong reference for introductory verse. Alter for altar. Misses consistently for Mrs. Preview of next book does not appear to be Christian at all.
I really enjoyed this book. I started it before bed Friday night and got up early Sat. morning to finish it! I loved that it was a mystery and a romance. I laughed out loud several times when the main characters where teasing each other! One reviewer on Amazon said that there wasn't enough tension and release in this book, but I don't agree, I often feel that books have an unbelievable amount tension and release like they are just trying to fill a certain amount of pages. When reading christian romance novels I will often find myself saying "Really? How many times can a couple misunderstand each other? Get on with it!" Not in this book, it was just right! As far as the mystery goes I had a few guesses on who the murderer was and one of my guesses was partly right, but I still was surprised by many of the details involved and enjoyed the journey of finding those out. I usually guess right in high budget movies too though so it is not a criticism that I had a hunch. I would love to see more from this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This is a light murder/mystery christian romance, but even so will keep you chuckling throughout with its clever, funny, and witty bantering between reporter Lacy and her dark and handsome, but not so tall man, Mike, who is an ex cop and current insurance fraud investigator! It was such a sweet romantic fun read, I honestly found it difficult to put down! I so hope this author publishes more books, as I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them.
Enjoyed the story and the writing style. I'll be looking for more by this author for sure. I just hope that this author dispenses with the very annoying habit of using "Misses" in place of "Mrs" -- that neary drove me crazy.
Excellent story - main character lost her husband and unborn son as a result of a motor vehicle accident. She blames God, but finds her way back to her faith. She learns to love again.
This was a pretty good story, but there were just enough misspellings, misused homophones, missing words, and weirdly constructed sentences to irritate me! Where was a good proofreader/editor?
