The Mac Brothers #3

Seaside Rendezvous

Rate this book
Layne MacMartin’s life should be better than ever.
He’s successful, handsome, and part owner of a successful resort called Seaside Escape.
But nothing makes Layne happy or satisfied for very long.
Not even a reunion at Highland Bay with his brothers.
His solution to his unhappiness has always been to run away from his problems.
When sassy dancer Raven Solis saves Layne from a potentially violent altercation, all he sees is the beautiful face, the sexy body, and what he perceives as a party girl lifestyle.
In other words, a totally unsuitable girl.
But Raven is so much more than a party girl, and by the time Layne realizes she is The One for him, will it be too late?

This book features the third MacDonald brother Layne who's been a bit of a mystery for us so far.

This is going to sound crazy but this is my favourite yet also least favourite of the brothers books so far.

Raven Solis is beautiful with an amazing body which she uses since she's a paint dancer at a local club, she paints the guests and they paint her. I'm showing my age now as the first thing that came to mind was how unsafe it is throwing paint around, what if someone gets it in their eyes and don't get me started on the mess.

But I digress.
Raven is working when she comes across a man who has no idea how he got there and he seems totally out of place. She assumes he's either drunk or he's been slipped something and she just can't bring herself to leave him so she takes him home with her.

The man in question turns out to be Layne MacDonald lawyer and part owner of the Seaside Escape. Despite the brief time they've known each other there's something there, they are both exactly what the other wants and needs.

What did I like?
I liked that this was different from the previous two, I liked Raven and Layne grew on me. This seemed fresher and somehow brighter and kept me reading.

Problems?
I didn't particularly like the writing style it seemed choppy at times but I suspect that's a result of trying to cram a story into so few words, I think this would have worked better as a longer read where we could get more of a feel for the characters.

Oh these Mac Brothers are going to do me in! I love them! Yowza!
We meet Layne in this book, not his best first impression, well dressed man at a local Paint bar with a wild looking woman who works there who happens to notice he's a little out of it. Here we meet Raven. Raven's caught between getting involved and hoping someone he came with shows up but it's not happening. Layne is just about down for the count, Raven goes in to talk to the boss who is a nasty bugger and he fires her, this is after the bar security lands a nice slap on her rear.
Raven being Raven takes him home with her. he's got paint all over him and his expensive suit. She insists he bathes, so she draws him a bath, fairly certain now he's been drugged. Between the two of them they do manage to get in the tub and get him cleaned up and she gets him settled for the night.
Raven is a wild thing, that's her persona at her job. That is not the woman he wakes up to the next morning.
When he sees her the next day he's dumbfounded by his angel who saved him. They go back to the bar, no car and he remembers then, angrily that an ex came to visit and took him there, dropped a drug in his drink and left him. Wow is he angry. First he lights up Raven's boss for firing her and she gets a nice check from him. It's not what she wants to do with her life.
I loved watching this story unravel. Natalie did a great job weaving this tale between Layne and Raven and his duties at the Inn. As an aside in all these books of the series it's been fun to watch these men court these women and try and take them on "dates"
Read the series. I can't say that enough. They're easy read, chock full of steam, 4 smoking hot brothers and the woman they fall for.

AN ANGEL NAMED RAVEN

Layne MacDonald has moved back to Highland Bay, along with his three brothers, and have restored and opened a resort that was started by their late grandfather. Layne gave up his law practice in Los Angeles and is now an attorney in Highland Bay. He is smart, sexy, and successful, but he lacks what he wants the most, to settle down with a wife and children.

Raven has dreams and goals to become a promoter for nightclubs. She works at Paint, the hottest paint dance club where she is one of the dancers. Her job includes whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Meeting a man dressed in an expensive suit, and realizing he is confused, she worries he has been drugged. An incident with security and management will cost her her job and alter her plans. Seeing the man outside, she knows she can’t just leave him alone and offers him help and takes him home.

No good deed goes unpunished, and for Layne to put up with an old girlfriend, Stacy, who insist on going to Paint and then abandons him. It will lead him to be assisted by Raven. In return, helping Raven with her jerk employer will allow him the opportunity to thank her for her kindness.

The plot will bring two very unlikely people together where the beginning of a friendship develops but will escalate into an erotic relationship. “I don’t know how I got so lucky having you dance your way into my life.” Both Layne and Raven have suffered hardships in childhood, and each having goals for their future. They are the yin to the other one's yang. “Their entire relationship was a whirlwind of pleasure and happiness.” The chemistry between Layne and Raven sizzles off the pages in this steamy romance. For Layne to be an attorney, he sometimes says the wrong thing and is slow to react, but I am sure Raven will keep him balanced.

The story is a steamy romance, with detailed descriptions of their sexual intimacy. The story is part of a four-book collection, by four different authors. It does have an HEA ending and does not end on a cliffhanger.

It seems like I've been waiting forever for Seaside Rendezvous by Natalie-Nicole Bates to be released....it's here, and it was soooo worth the wait! Make sure to check out the plot description above!! I enjoy books of this length more than long reads, which is why Natalie-Nicole Bates is one of my favorite authors. I have read her other novellas, and her skill in writing romance is one of the best! It is short...a little less than 100pgs...but these characters leave a lasting impression! The characters are well-developed and the storyline is engaging. I felt like I was watching the events unfold rather than being told what they are doing. Natalie-Nicole Bates writes in a way that pulls the reader in and leaves them begging for more! Her writing is detailed and her characters are real. I highly recommend Seaside Rendezvous to those looking for a quickie! Hehee! I mean...to those who want a quick read or are looking for a sexy romance, Seaside Rendezvous by Natalie-Nicole Bates is definitely for you!!

Thank you for reading my review. I was given an ARC from the author. All words and opinions are my own 100%. :-)

This romance started with a speed that if you blinked you would miss it. That did not take away from its intensity, but only added to it. This romance started with a big spark and ended with a huge bang. Raven and Layne were perfect together and I drawn into their story immediately. It had passion, purpose and vulnerability that melted my heart and reminded me why I continually love reading books by this author! Book gifted to me.
