I enjoyed getting back into the world of the Doomsday Brethren but it felt like this was cut a bit short. Not quite a novella size. That being said, it still got me excited for the next full sized instalment in the series.

I have to say the interspecies fated mate trope is one that I'm becoming a fan of. In this story we have Kari who is human and Ronan who is a wizard, when Ronan first lays eyes on Kari he knows there's something different about her.

Shayla Black is taking readers on a wonderful paranormal journey where we can lose ourselves amongst the magical men and women who find love while battling for the freedom of mankind.

After reading Marrok and Olivia's book, I'm in need of more books from this series (bdw book 1, definitely a must read if you love witches, curses, suspense & action with loads of steaminess) and the twin brothers, Raider and Ronan definitely had me intrigued.
Especially Ronan and his irresistible attraction to the 𝗌𝖾𝗑𝗒 bartender/ owner.

So I was so excited for this book and it was the perfect delicious bite of angst, magic, suspense with the perfect sprinkles of action and romance.

Seriously, THIS SERIES AND ALL THE MAGICAL CHARACTERS ARE FREAKING LIT.😍🔥

Ronan is the resident Playboy and even though he's made his intentions clear with Kari, about how badly he wants her, Yet Kari doesn't give into him.

Kari is definitely pulled to Ronan but seeing him behave the way he does after expressing his real intent to her, she feels she doesn't want a man who's like a fleeting bird and won't remain faithful to her.

But there's a twister that human Kari is not aware of.
Especially when the Playboy realises she might be his mate but he has no way to realise if it's the truth or if he can even act on it and accept his fate.

The way this book is written feels so vividly real and I felt like I was right there, watching all the drama unfold.

The tugging of heart strings and the suspense and angsty moments are so freaking good, that I was feeling like watching with a wide eyed expression, two people who want each other so badly and yet bound to misunderstandings and unwanted fear.

There's also, the angle of the curse and how Ronan will go around it.
This was a perfect book to escape into while you are sitting cozily at your favourite place, sipping a nice hot chocolate and getting lost in a world of hot wizards and sassy girl and steamy chemistry with dollops of suspense and climactic times that will keep you oh so hooked on. Coupled with the spicy times... Ahh... What a Ride.

I oh so can't wait at all for the next book in this series and I'll be waiting impatiently for the next one for sure. Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Capture Me In Moonlight by Shayla Black is a novella in the Doomsday Brethren series. This is the story of Ronan Wolvsey, a wizard whose family had been the victim of a curse. The curse prevented them from recognizing the mating instinct and causing the death of anyone who mated with the Wolvsey line. But Ronan felt Kari like a fever in his blood. He didn’t know if that was the instinct telling him that Kari was his mate, but if he Called to her, the curse would insure she would die. Kari owned a pub and every night she watched Ronan and his twin pick up women to hook up with for the night. It was slowly killing her. Her fiancé, Edward, had cheated on Kari and she was determined not to get involved with another womanizer. She refused Ronan every time he tried to seduce her. When Kari’s life was endangered in the fight against Mathias, Ronan had to decide what he was willing to do to keep her safe and whether he believed in the curse anymore. This was a short and enirely enjoyable novella. There was only a small connection to the first book in the series, but it was definitely written within the same world and pulled together a connection to the Wolvsey twins that I expect will continue throughout the rest of the series. I really liked both Ronan and Kari. Ronan was a wizard that would make any female swoon, but his love for Kari is so apparent. Kari was a strong independent thinker and I loved her unwillingness to let Ronan make decisions about her instead of with her. They are a perfect match and their interactions were so steamy. As usual, this was a very well written book where the author managed to pace the story just right despite the limitations presented by the shorter length. If you enjoy paranormal/fantasy romance about fated mates, family curses, and the joining of forces to fight a great evil, you will enjoy this book. You will definitely need to start at the beginning of the series with Tempt Me With Darkness as this is definitely not a stand-alone title.

Ronan is obsessed with a human bar owner. He wants her but his family curse stops him from pursuing her. Kari has watched Ronan pick up one woman after another so she doesn’t think she wants to be with him. Afterall, he obviously just uses a woman and then moves on. When the evil comes to her bar, the two of them have to figure out if they can be together while trying to navigate this new more dangerous world.
This story is the continuation of the story started in Tempt Me With Darkness. This story focuses on Ronan and Kari but there are other characters that play a major role. In fact, readers learn more about the witch that was killed in the first book in the series (that is a very sad part of the story). Kari is cautious but not stupid about it. As the magical world opens up around her she is resilient and capable of helping. I hope the author keeps Kari in the story and shows more of her growth in the magical world. It was obvious from the beginning that this is the story of how Ronan joins the Brotherhood. He doesn’t really grow or change during the story except that he decides to pursue Kari and the curse be damned. The author uses this story to introduce more magical and human characters. I like how the characters work together to create the Doomsday Brotherhood.
I thought the bad guy was the weak part of the story. I know the author was introducing new parts of the bad guy organization but it was bland and a bit sterile. I am hoping that the author builds out this part of the world more in future installments.
This is a contemporary paranormal romance. This story focuses on Ronan and Kari but introduces Ronan’s twin and his romance troubles. I’m guessing Raiden might be the next story or a story soon. I will read more from this author in the future.

This is the 2nd book in the Doomsday Brethren series featuring the continuation of the Doomsday Brethren in their fight to save all of magic kind. We meet Ronan a Wolvsey wizard who's obsessed with Kari a human who's not supposed to have any knowledge of their world. Ronan is afraid that he's cursed so he only has one night stands even though he craves Kari he's afraid if he is with her she'll die and he doesn't want that. For thousands of years Wolvsey wizards have been cursed with never knowing their fated mates but when he sees Kari he feels something inside him shift. Kari has wanted Ronan her mysterious enigmatic stranger who watches over her so possessively every night for the past two years. However even though he watches her like a hawk he still leaves with a different woman every night and after what her ex did she swore to never fall again. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read the continuation of the Doomsday Brethren in their fight to save all of magic kind. I would recommend reading this book.

4.5⭐ I love reading Shayla Black, and this book did not disappoint! What a fantastic 2nd book in the Doomsday Brethren series from Shayla Black! It was fast-paced, action packed, spicy and overall a great continuation of the fight against Mathias in the paranormal universe. This book picks up about 2 weeks after the ending of Tempt Me With Darkness. The fight against evil continues, and the wizards' magic won't do anything against Mathias' army. Grit, brawn, and strategic fighting will bring down his army. But the Doomsday Brethren are outnumbered, how will they fight Mathias' growing army?

Ronan and Kari were already drawn to each other before the start of this book. This story tells of how they finally give in to their slow burn, and overcome forces going against them. Will the Black Magic curse made against Ronan's ancestor hold up against him and his fated mate? Read the story and find out!

This is the second book in the series. I highly recommend reading book1 before indulging in this story.
In this installment we get a closer look at one of the Wolvsey twins, Ronan, and his quest for answers on his family's curse to never find a mate.
While wingmanning with his brother Raiden, the brothers bed multiple women to keep their magic strong. While Ronan seems to want to change his ways with the lovely barmaid where they frequent.
Kari is a mere mortal brought into this mess by running a bar inwhich its patrons are not all of humankind. Being near Ronan constantly trying to avoid his advances finally takes its toll on her. She relents and that's when the crazy begins.
While aiding some of her patrons in their fight against magics greatest monster, Mathais. She fears that her love may never be mated to her.
A fun, short, sexy paranormal romance. I enjoyed this second installment. Though I do wish it had more with the fight against Mathais and his quest. 4 stars.

I read this story without having read the first book in the series and while it would have been nice to know the universe, it's easy to immerse yourself in the story and reading it as a standalone doesn't subtract form the over all experience. The book is fast paced and thrilling, packed with looming war, personal angst and fears and lightning hot romance.
Where the book loses a star for me is in the length of it. It is simply too short. The book feels like a section of a book, lengthwise. As I said the romantic story can be read as a standalone. But the book takes less than an hour to read and I feel like you need at least 4 or 5 books more to get a complete novel.
But that's just me. The book is well written, exciting, very hot and ver entertaining, so if you don't mind the shortness of it, you are in for a thrill.

The Doomsday Brethren was the very first series I read of Shayla Black, and I was totally hooked! It broke my heart when she announced the series was indefinitely on hold, as her contemporary romance had become more popular. So, you can imagine my elation when I discover that Ms Black was not only returning to The Doomsday Brethren but revising the original books and adding to the series too.

I can honestly say that this series was instrumental in my love of paranormal romance, and I eagerly awaited each new instalment, as the characters and storylines were all consuming. Revisiting Ronan and Kari has been like going home and I can’t wait for each revised story to be released, and I am over the moon that there will be new stories too! If you like your PNR with action, danger, suspense, and a ton of passion, then this is a series not to be missed.

This is the second book in the Doomsday Brethren series, and it can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend reading the books in order to fully understand the storyline’s arc and how they are interconnected. This is for the paranormal lovers and if you have been hesitant about the genre then this is the series to dive down the rabbit hole with as the characters and storylines are captivating. Ms. Black has woven a world that encompasses the modern and medieval flawlessly holding one tight in its grip that the only way through, is to keep the pages turning. Ronan and Kari are fire together. This series just keeps getting better and it is a must read. Filled with passion, intrigue, spice and things that are not as they seem will keep you glued to your seat and wanting more. I know I do and cannot wait for the next installment.

Ronan is a wizard who believes that pursuing the one woman he does want will place her in peril so he tries to deny his feelings for her by paying attention to other women. It is only when she finds herself in danger that he realizes the depth of his feelings and now he will do whatever is necessary to protect her.

Kari has been hurt by love in the past and it is an experience she does not want to repeat. She is looking for a man who she can trust to be there for her and has her reservations that Ronan can be that man. Learning more about Ronan and the reasons behind his actions might just be what she needs to give him a chance.

A little intrigue, great chemistry and two people who are destined to be together.

Am glad to see the author writing another book in this series. It is a very enjoyable one. I would highly recommend that anyone wanting to read this book, buy the first one and read it as it really sets the stage and much of what goes on in this book requires the backstory of the first one - Tempt Me With Darkness. It was much shorter than the first book. I was just getting into the story and it ended. That would be the only thing I didn't like. It seemed like there was so much more of Ronan and Kari's story that needed to be told. But what was told was a hot and steamy read, full of danger and curses. Enjoyable for sure. I eagerly await the next book in this series.

We can accomplish anything if we work together...

Once again I have been ensnared into the Doomsday Brethren series. This story picks up quickly after the first. Ronan a Wolvsey wizard, has accepted his misfortune of never having a fated mate. But he feels a shift within himself when he sees Kari.

Kari has yearned for Ronan for 2 years but is fearful to enter into a relationship as she has been hurt before. Their desire for one another is undeniable and cannot be ignored. A dark threat is out to destroy everything in order to gain total control.

Working together is the only way to destroying the menace or all will be lost. This story is filled with action, danger and excitement.

I read this series years ago when it was first published. Fast forward to today and Shayla Black has gotten her rights back to this series and let me tell you, it's even better than when it first came out. It's paranormal but there are no shifters, just "magic". And I loved the fact that when Ms. Black got her rights back, she went in and re-edited the stories and added more words to it. Those added words have made this book and the first book so much richer and deeper. This is the second book and it's a LOT shorter than the first one, which you NEED to read because it will set up the whole arc running in the background of this series! Each couple gets their HEA but really, start with the first book. I'm so in love with this series and I can't wait for Book 3!

Capture Me in Moonlight is book #2 in the Doomsday Brethren series. This is Ronan Wolvsey and Kari Keswick’s story.

Ronan is looking to make his life more meaningful. BTW Ronan has a twin, Raiden (whom I will assume will have his own story soon’ish, at least I hope so. Ronan is one of the Wolvsey Wizards. Kari is the woman he can’t have yet and he craves her.

I love Ronan and Kari’s story. The only thing I wish is that their story was a little longer. I am looking forward to the next book in the Doomsday Brethren series.

Seduce Me In Shadow is next and will be Caden and Sydney’s story.

Capture Me in Moonlight is the 2nd book in the Doomsday Brethren series. While the Brethren do all make appearances and events from the previous book are mentioned, I do not think that it is absolutely necessary to have read it to understand and enjoy this one. Ronan and Kari's very short story focuses almost exclusively on the should-I-should-I-not give in to their mutual attraction and commit to each other. Amidst the steamy sexy times, there's a bit of danger and a few teasers hint at what's to come, so while there is a happy ending for the couple, there is no HEA yet.

This is a paranormal romance, number two in the Doomsday Brethren series. There is a lot of drama and angst between Ronan and Kari. Ronan has been taught all his life if he bonds with any woman, she will die because of a curse placed on the men of his family one thousand years ago. He is in love with Kari, and she is with him. Yet afraid to come together. Also, the wizards and magic ones are facing an enemy bent on complete domination of their kind. So there is a bit of a cliffhanger in that area, but you get the HEA for Ronan and Kari. This is a good book. It is dark, and there's a lot of steam.

Rowan and Kari's Story

Capture Me in Moonlight is book 2 in Doomsday Brethren series and this is my first time reading a book by this author.
It was everything I look for in a romance- main characters that I want to be friends with, unexplored feelings, cast of memorable supporting characters, and of course a happily ever after. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and it was a great start to a fresh series. I can't wait to hop into the next book and see what is in store for the next brethren Caden.

Resisting His Mate

While this is the second book in the Doomsday Brethren series I haven't had a chance to get to the first book just yet. However, the underlying romance between Ronan and Kari as well as the overall storyline with magic, fated mates, evil and curses was superb. I will definitely go bak to read the first one and then re-read this one. What a wonderful story, I cannot wait till the next one.

Ronan is a wizard with a family curse of not recognizing their mate or the person they mate with dies. He has a burning attraction for Kari, a human that shouldn't know about their world. Kari is attracted to the man she sees every night in her dreams but he goes with other women. She's been left heartbroken by an exboyfriend before so she doesn't want to got through it again. Ronan will have to save Kari when a danger comes for them both from a dark wizard. Will the couple make it through?

Shayla Black has changed my feelings on PNR romance. With every new chapter and with every new interaction I have fallen in love. Kari and Ronan are destined to be together, but it is the outside forces and a little curse that could keep them from getting their HEA. But with a beautifully written storyline and just enough angst to keep the pages turning, this was a fabulous read. Once again Shalya Black did not disappoint!!

Curses, Love and Hot Chemistry…

Kari and Ronan’s chemistry is off the charts. Kari is a strong woman who has been hurt before, a hurt she does not want to experience again. Ronan has a fever that just won’t go away, and this fever is Kari. Ronan is cursed and knows he should stay away. Can they overcome their past to realized what their future can be?

You won’t be able to put this book down. A definite must read!!

I absolutely love the story and the characters. Ronan is living in the shadows while watching Kari. He is attracted to her but a curse is keeping them apart. Kari is really into Ronan. I loved this book and devoured it in a day. I missed book one but was able to follow along. Loved feeling their emotions. Ronan and his family have been cursed and can’t mate. But he feels drawn to Kari. Can he risk mating with her? Will she give him a chance? Thankfully they finally get a happy ever after. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Another wonderful story by Shayla Black. I love reading anything by her. I couldn't put this story down. I love reading about Ronan and the woman who was meant for him. Kari has seen him for a couple of years and is drawn to him. She doesn't know that he is her mate or about his family curse. Ronan is drawn to her but won't see her die. But fate has other plans for them. Will they find happiness together?

This is Ronan and Keri’s story. A quick read that introduces them and how they are tied to the Brethren. Let’s just say things aren’t always as they seem and sometimes a little information from an unlikely source makes you question what you thought you’ve known your whole life. I’m interested to see how these two play into the future stories.

Back in the world of the Doomsday brethren and it’s a nice place to be. There’s alot of back story that will be needed to understand what’s going on so book one needs tk be read first. I dk like the way this romance develops. I love that black writes stories that are the perfect length for a bed time story. They are short and spicy but packed full of depth!
