Just to clarify my page...I write erotic romance, not cookbooks. As a matter of fact, it's a good thing I'm married to a chef, because I have very easily messed up NO BAKE cookies. I wish 'Wendy Burke Cookbook' author all the best -- but her books keep getting posted to my page!

And, now -- on to my bio!
Although not my plan in life, I've been immersed in media for more than 35 years.

Despite blowing off my TV classes at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, I am now a TV producer and prior to that a newsroom assignment editor.

My first love(and media success) is/was radio, which has changed so drastically over the last few decades it's nearly unrecognizable.

Because of that love of painting 'mental picture,' I've been able to cross off an item on my Bucket List, that of being a published writer through e-pub house - Decadent Publishing!

Article first published as eBook Review: Haste Ye Back by Wendy Burke on Blogcritics.

As usual, I jumped at the chance to read another offering from Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand series. They never disappoint, and Haste Ye Back is no exception. It's the story of Bryn Wallace, a woman who's been dumped by her boyfriend,  just weeks before a trip to Edinburgh that she's fantasised about all her life. It's all booked and paid for, and there's no way she's going to waste the money, so she goes alone, determined to have a good time. However, she quickly discovers that exploring Scotland by herself is a little dull, so she signs up with the 1Night Stand service, hoping that Madame Eve will be able to hook her up - and quickly.

As luck would have it, divorcee Ian McCallum has also signed up to the service, on the suggestion of an old schoolfriend. Madame Eve's expert intuition tells her that the pair would be perfect together, and so they're matched. What neither of them realise, however, is that their pairing has actually been centuries in the making.

This was a really enjoyable story. It has a fascinating blend of contemporary and ancient elements, making for a fun read which was mysterious in places. I really liked each of the characters and found myself rooting for them, and boy was the sex hot! I don't want to give anything else away, but I'll just say this is a well-written, hot, fun story with parts that will really make you think - and hope there's a sequel!

The 1Night Stand series from Decadent Publishing is like a delectable morsel of chocolate...they're quick, richly naughty, and immensely satisfying. Wendy Burke's latest contribution Haste Ye Back lives up to that description and is perfect for giving you sweet dreams. From the moment feisty, recently dumped, heroine Bryn arrives in her beloved Scotland there's a dreamlike feel to the world she's entered. Ms. Burke brings the landscape of Scotland alive with all the beauty and romance surrounding its history. The landscape and the people all work together to make things magical for the hero and heroine.

Along with the gorgeous and inspirational landscape is a truly likable hero and heroine. Bryn is spunky and stands up for herself against a truly crappy boyfriend. She goes after what she wants even when it sounds impossible, like a relationship with Ian after such a quick meeting. He too has been burned by love and doesn't believe in true romance. But once he touches Bryn there's a spark of recognition, of being kindred spirits. The sexual chemistry between them is off the charts which leads to many intense sexual interludes.

With this being a short story you have to suspend belief a bit and accept that true love can be found in the blink of an eye. There's also a slight paranormal aspect regarding past lives that's intriguing and makes the idea of Bryn and Ian's instalove a bit more understandable. All in all this was a satisfying read with a likable couple and vivid scenic descriptions that immerse you completely in the magical and romantic world of Scotland. Ms. Burke has created another satisfying 1Night Stand story that readers will gobble up.

Right from the start I liked the heroine. Dumped by her boyfriend she decides to go on vacation on her own. She always wanted to go to Scotland as she has Scottish ancestors, and the small matter of a break up is not going to stop her. Once there she receives a text from her ex, sent to her by mistake. The text mentions Madam Eve's service and having drunk too much in disgust she signs up for it.

The hero is disillusioned with his love life, following on from his divorce and when he bumps into an old friend, who recommends Madam Eve, he thinks to himself why not?

From the minute the two of them meet, sparks fly. Neither one can explain the intense attraction they feel, and the niggling feeling that they know each other from somewhere.

I shan't give the plot away, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I did figure out the twist at the end about halfway through, but it didn't mar my enjoyment. The descriptions of Scotland are breathtakingly beautiful, the characters are well drawn out and extremely likeable and the sex is hot!

I enjoyed this story so much I promptly went and read the author's other book in this series :-)

I really enjoyed this book. Bryn, has been dumped by her long time boyfriend, but still decides to continue with her plans to go on vacation. While there she receives more information about her ex that leads her to contact a One Night Stand Agency. Where she is hooked up with our Hero, Ian. The rest is history....

I love a story where the main character show resilience to bad situations in life. A "Pull yourself up" kind of story. Bryn is just that person. I also like the variety of characters that we see interact with our main characters. I think it gives more depth and the characters more realistic qualities.

Overall, An enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading more 1NS books as well as Wendy Burke.

I found this book to be highly enjoyable. I loved that it was a combination of contemporary romance mixed in a bigger historical story. I was enchanted by the interaction between Ian and Bryn. It was fun and highly romantic. Those of you out there with Scottish fantasies, say hello to Haste Ye Back. The only thing that prevented me from giving it a 5 out of 5 was that I wanted it to be longer. I loved the characters so much, I didn't want to say goodbye when I reached the end.
