Review on Linny's Literature

Wow. I literally read this entire book in one sitting (if you don't count getting up to have dinner). Satan's Stone is the 4th book in the Demon Kissed series, and they are only getting better.

One of my favorite characteristics of the Demon Kissed series in the last 3 books was their ability to completely blindside me, and Satan's Stone kept up the trend. I absolutely loved the fact that one minute I was sure beyond a doubt about something, and the next I would be proven completely wrong with some fun new plot twist. The story continues to be excitingly original and unpredictable.

Prehaps even a little more than the other Demon Kissed books, Satan's Stone has a dark side that I absolutely revere. I've had my fill of books bursting with fluff and rainbows: a few examples being supernatural guys who leave because they're "afraid of hurting" people, no main characters ever getting hurt (very unrealistic), and vampires suitable for PETA. Satan's Stone makes my heart race with everything from the heartless demons, to the black magic, to the edge-of-death experiences that are an all too common experience for the characters. The characters themselves are getting darker too. Eric continues to be a ruthless Valefar bent on revenge, Collin's allegiance remains in question after the ending of Torn, and Ivy is discovering and even welcoming her own overwhelmingly powerful, dark abilities.

The one and only complaint I have for Satan's Stone is a small one. As she did in some of the previous books, the main character Ivy continues to lie and hide things from the people that care about her and it does get to be a little irritating. However, in most cases I do understand her reasoning for keeping secrets and even agree with her, even if I wish that she could be open with them. Other than that, Ivy continues to be the refreshingly strong and powerful heroine that I love.

Ivy's life is only getting harder as she tries to save herself, her loved ones, and the world itself from evil. While she's known that the prophecy looms over her and is inescapable, she hadn't trully accepted that her life would never be the same until now. In Satan's Stone, it fully hits Ivy that there are no loopholes in the prophecy- she has no choice but to defeat Kreturus and become the Demon Queen. Accepting this, she fights harder than ever to learn what she must. And what with the loss of Al and the betrayals of Eric and Collin, Ivy must do it entirely on her own. I greatly enjoyed watching Ivy become the lone wolf- taking care of herself and discovering her vast powers. Attack a vengeful Valefar head-on without fear? Make deals with demons? Pfft, Ivy kicks ass for breakfast.

Satan's Stone was an amazing addition to the Demon Kissed series and I enjoyed it thoroughly. If you haven't read the first 3 books, I highly recommend that you do! With its original and dark story, non-stop action, and fearlessly powerful characters, the Demon Kissed series has become one of my favorites.

Oh My! This installment sets a different tone then the previous ones, you can feel the desperation from Ivy as she struggles with the decisions she has made and the ones she has to make! This is an intense one! Heart breaking moments, aha moments and everything in between! Wards style of writing gives you no choice but to be drawn into the world she has created, she mixes you up, shakes you around so you have no idea which way is up or down! She makes you love and hate each character, throwing you through an array of emotions with each one! Nervous, scared, excited and anxious for the next(and last) book!

Satan's Stone is the 4th book in H.M. Ward's Demon Kissed series. If you haven't read these books yet I highly recommend them! They just keep getting better and better. In this book Ivy has decided to look for Satan's Stone. She is convinced that this is the only thing that will defeat Kreturus the demon king. She is on a journey to save her friends, family, and the world...no pressure or anything! Things don't go quite according to plan and some huge revelations are made in this book. There was one point where I actually cried...I know right. I felt so bad for Ivy because she seemed to get tortured and beaten a lot in this book. Not in the way you think either. It's all part of the blood bargain!

There is still trouble in paradise between Collin and Ivy. I really hope that their relationship heats back up and they can somehow work through things. There relationship was sooo cute and so sweet that I wouldn't like it if it ended badly. But, given what happened at the end of this book I don't see that happening, which makes me sad. I won't say why because I still want you to enjoy the book!

The story flowed together very well and I was constantly wondering what was going to happen and who was involved with what! It is a story full of action, suspense, love, and heartbreak. All the components of a great story. I have become rather attached to the characters and wanting the best for them despite all the bad things that have now happened. I guess that's another mark of a great series. The next book The 13th Prophecy comes out on March 6, 2012 and yea it is definitely on my calendar already! I could give this book no less then 5 stars.

Chap. 17
Daaamn.
If that's not a 180 for Ivy I don't know what is. Prophetess power. It's some serious sheet.
...
*Insert string of profanity here*
If you saw that coming then you cheated and read the ending first. That is the only way you could possibly guess what was gonna happen. I'm not 100% sure but I think my mind was just blown. I read the last sentence and just stared. For like a full minute.

Ah! Every time I write a review about a Demon Kissed book the next book always always forces my previous words into my mouth and makes me chew on them for a very long time before swallowing. It's painful. I like being right. But with these books wrong has never felt so good.
I swear every time I come up with a theory about a character or the story line it gets yanked away and shredded into 16 hundred pieces. just when I start to piece the old theory back together a new more sparkly theory pops up....Then I read the next chapter and that one is mercilessly destroyed too. I like it.

So anyway I'm totally convinced that every doubt I'll ever have will be craftily fixed later therefore I have zero issues. That's right none. This one was amazing. Ivy has graduated from the 'Badass in Training' program and is now a full fledged Badass. Collin and Eric make me crazy. I have no idea what to expect from them. Ever. And everyone else can not be trusted. I can't wait to see how it all ends. :)

OMG! Can this story get any better? I love all the twist and the turns. Oooh and the kisses, is everyone a good kisser? This story just keeps more craving more. I had to finish it tonight or I wasn't going to sleep. Wish tomorrow was March so the next book would be coming out. With all that said there were a few typos that were annoying but love the book and the series. Keep going and feed my addiction

The latest novel in the Demon Kissed series by H.M. Ward, Satan’s Stone, is about Ivy’s search for the stone and the truth. During the course of this novel, Ivy has demons and angels telling her what to do. She’s extremely confused and blindly trusts. Confused and wanting answers, Ivy makes a few potentially bad decisions.

Ivy’s journey was frustrating, but realistic. It was frustrating because Ivy didn’t seem to really make any progress in this novel. Her need to discover the truth, made her act impulsively and irrationally. It felt like she created more problems than she solved. At the same time, her desperate need to find answers felt realistic. She was willing to try anything that would bring her answers and the truth.

One of the main things that attracted me to this series was Ivy and Colin’s relationship. I won’t give away any details, but I will say that I was extremely disappointed on the romance front. I don’t think it’s very likely, but I still hope that the romance heats up in the next novel.

I gave Satan’s Stone 3 STARS (3.5 STARS). This action-packed novel was a little chaotic, but overall, it was a very good addition to the Demon Kissed series. I am still very intrigued by this series, and I look forward to reading the next novel in the series, The 13th Prophecy.

I am finally finished with this book. My opinion, it was good in the beginning. Then it was boring. Then right at the end it picked up. Totally thrown for a loop, did not see the end coming. Lost about the Eric, does he hate or love her - kind of irritating. We need spell check on good reads, because I miss words and mispell in a minute. I am hoping the next book is the last and final, but I don't see anything indicating that. All in All it was good. I'll give it three stars.

Well, it was better than the 3rd book. By the end, there were finally *some* answers. The demon princess's name kept getting switched which was initially confusing...locaicia or ileca? I'm still uber confused....I don't know why, but I just can't seem to follow all the threads of the story. There was still repetitiveness but at least the author finally tossed us a bone, so I might as well finish off the series since I already own them....

This series is getting better and better - I'm on the edge of my seat!!! I really can't tell who I like or trust anymore. everyone is suspect and it's killing me (in a good way, of course). I'm curious about Apryl's role in this one and if she'll be coming back in the next one. I can't wait for #5!

Wow. This is a great series. Refreshing that Ivy is not a whiney girl, that has had zero experience in life. She's strong and although she is always unsure of whom to trust, she has great reason. She does not question herself. She's a fantastic character. I can't believe I have to wait a month for the final book!

It is a weird title but goes along with the story and fighting angels and demons. I just wish the series was not so long...The heroine does find out more who she is and is progressing but still makes crazy mistakes. I am hoping it all works out.

I found the premise of this series to be interesting but I think the execution was lacking. To be perfectly honest, it was just okay. Nothing special but it wasn’t terrible. I didn’t fall in love with the characters but I didn’t particularly dislike them either. Everything about this series was just meh to me which was quite disappointing because this genre is exactly the kind of books I enjoy. I just think that there are a lot better books/series out there with similar plots and better characters.

In regards to the plot, I felt that there were a lot of going back and forth. It was a bit messy and a very confusing because the characters would do something then realize that hey, nevermind, why did we do this? They were never on the same page so some of the characters would unintentionally hijack someone else’s work. There were also a lot of creatures out there that made it seem even more complicated especially with the Omen. Plus the author never fully explained what exactly that meant and why the Omen was there in the first place. It was little things like that that confused me. I just like having things explained or understood.

As for the characters specifically Ivy, I never really understood her. I found her a little spoiled, a tad immature, quite dumb, and very stubborn. Granted, I know she was trying to do the right thing the entire time but the way how she went about it, I found it absolutely ridiculous. I mean, going around and making blood bargains with demons for the sake of defeating another demon? That just spelled stupidity to me. She didn’t even bother asking for help or advice from any of her much more clear-headed or knowledgeable friends. Instead, she pretty much went for it without a second thought. And even though she kept trying to save her friends, the choices that she would make always ended up jeopardizing them. Especially with the whole Eric drama. I couldn’t even begin to fathom why Ivy made the choice that she did to save him even though she knew what he thought of it. Yet she did it anyways and called it “saving” him. And then with the whole Collin thing. She kept endangering herself when she knew the prophecy was at stake simply because she couldn’t risk him. She didn’t even know if it would ultimately kill him or not. She wasn’t willing to even try which put the whole world at stake. For someone who was trying so damn hard to save the world and go against that prophecy, that one single decision that she kept making over and over again was unfathomable.

As for the whole Collin/Ivy relationship, can I just please say, where the fuck did that come from? I got the chemistry from him in book one but not once did Ivy return any of those feelings to him yet suddenly they were soulmates and he was the only one for her? Pray tell, what happened? In fact, she treated him as a friend only and their interactions from her side basically screamed friendzoned to me. Yet, how did things change so dramatically?

Overall, the series was just okay. There is a sixth book out there but I read somewhere that it’s no longer available and I don’t see the point in investing more time on this series. Plus, the series technically ended on book 5 and the sixth book is merely a spinoff from Eric’s POV. I’m not sure if I would recommend the series but if you have time and you want to read an angel vs demon series, then I guess you can give this one a try.

Someone please tell me why the fate of the world lies in the hands of a single girl. Oh, yeah. I remember why. Because the plot demands it. Dang it.

Satan's Stone, the fourth book in the series, has nothing to do with Lucifer or the devil. Well, technically, it does have things to do with the King of Hell, but there is no Lucifer sadly. (Sorry, I'm part of that fandom which loves Lucifer. The only fandom that likes Lucifer. Supernatural, anyone? The actor of Lucifer, Mr. P., is brilliant.) So there are angels, demons, two boys, and Ivy Taylor in between. (Honestly, why is the fate of the entire world in a single girl's hands?)

Ivy Taylor is still stupid. And now, the author is trying to cover up her stupidity. Just don't. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck. Or a stupid duck. No, it is a stupid duck. (Metaphor time!)

Now onto those two guys:

Eric is officially a jerk. And Collin is even worse, but I'll explain that later because Collin takes too much time (especially if I tell spoilers, gasp!) Anyway, Eric is pretty much a douchebag with a lot of anger issues. That is the easiest way for me to sum it up without getting into spoilers. Maybe there might be daddy issues (aka: God), but it really hasn't been touched on. Oh, crap. That was a major spoiler, if you know what I mean.

Collin is a lying son of a ding dong. He lied about nearly everything. Tell me why he is a good friend of Ivy Taylor? On the second thought, they belong together.

And my thoughts on these two guys? They are way too old for Ivy Taylor. Eric is at least two thousand years old (and maybe even more). Collin is younger in the years, but he is still seven hundred or more years older than Ivy. Someone has a thing for old guys?

Okay, that was just the wrong thing to say. And weird thing to say.

Overall, Satan's Stone is okay. It is bad in characters, because none of the characters have a consistent character trait. I'm not kidding. None of them are stable, and at least two of them have bipolar personality. And Shannon. Don't get me started on her, too. The only thing good is the plot. That is it.

So done!

This book has given me mixed emotions. It was entertaining to say the least. I read right through without being called to another book because I was bored of this book. It kept my attention. The one thing that bothered me with this kind of book is that they have been chasing only one bad guy which makes it repetitive. It reminds me of The House of Night series. It was the same over and over again. I don’t know why this book was called Satan’s Stone. They talked about it a lot. Ivy was on a search to find it but she never did. The beginning of the book starts out with her in search for Eric so she can kill him since he killed Al. The angel Lorren stopped her before she could kill Eric and he put a protection spell on him as well. Ivy apparently needed Eric to help her find the Satan’s Stone. He was the only one.

I think the main point of this book was for Ivy to learn more about her powers and learning how to keep her physical and emotional feelings in check. Everything else was the same. Kreutus is still out there at large, hell-bent on taking over the world. I wish Ivy would kill him already. I was going to give this book four stars but as I read more I decided to give if a three. Some parts weren't edited properly and I think one of the characters was named something else in the beginning stages but they changed it afterwards. I found she was being called by both names in the book. I would type it out, but I don’t even know what her name was. It was annoying. I will read the last book only to find out how it will end. I'm not going to go in depth with such books and then just stop. Ok, here I go.

Ivy was half Martis, half Valefar, and also the Prophecy One. while Celestial Silver could killed the Valefar and Brimstone the Martis, Ivy could only die from Sapphire Serum. when she decided to end herself to remove the role of the Prophecy One, she was saved by Lorren the Angel. the Prophecy would took place with or without her as the Prophecy One. finally accepting who she was, Ivy was determine to end Kreturus life, but before that, she need to find the Satan's Stone, a stone that stored the demon lord's power and had the ability to absorb the remaining Sapphire Serum that Lorren was unable to remove from her body.

unlike the previous sequels, this book started out with Ivy on her Eric-killing mission. after being stopped by Lorren, she escaped the Underworld with her Valefar sister, Apryl who happened to be waiting at the portal she was approaching. Collin, her Valefar boyfriend that she could no longer trust, had been hiding most of the Valefar abilities from her, because every ability had its price, a pain to suffer, a price to pay. now that Apryl was with her, together with the Demon Princess that lured her into a bargain, Ivy was finally revealed the many abilities she never knew she had. throughout the series, the most memorable moment had to be when Ivy realized how important Collin was to her, their bloodlust was nothing compared to the bond they shared and it made my eyes watered.

Since I was never one for subtly let me say WHOLLY SHIT BATMAN! Did not see some things coming, one was Eric drinking/tasting Ivy's blood. "His tongue slid across my wrist, and licked away the blood that had streaked across my pale skin. Unable to speak, I stared at him. His actions were carnal. It didn't shame him. It didn't even make him pause. he saw what he wanted and took it." Two was Collin catching Ivy in Eric's arms, (okay so maybe that was seriously bound to happen sooner or later). "He glared at me. Me in Eric's arms. Me wiping away Eric's kiss from my lips. Eric tensed at the sound of Collin's voice and slid his arm around my waist. He jerked me back toward him tightly. His heart pounded in his chest, Eric's muscles tensed as he spoke, "she's mine now, Smith. Leave before I make you." A lot of testosterone in that one scene let me tell you what. Not to mention WHOLLY SHIT on who Kreteus is (can't say as that would be considered a spoiler.) I have never in my life been more pissed at a damn cliffhanger then this book's!!! Shit was just getting good and going down and what happens it ends like seriously!

Ugh, Ivy...such a stupid, stupid girl. "I had no choice." "It had to be done." "There was no other way." Really? Those are her favourite lines in this book. She does not take responsibility for her actions, her decisions, or her inability to listen.
She is a lousy person. Quite happy to go around kissing Eric, even though she is supposedly in a relationship with Collin. But, again, she had no choice there either, you know, because of the blood-lusting she has for Eric, right? She is so weak. I think it's funny how she is supposedly very powerful, because she does nothing to show it.
Again, this book is very predictable. You can see future revelations coming from a mile away. It's ridiculous.
Eric is the only thing worth reading about. Reading from Ivy's point of view causes headaches. I wish she were a real person so I could bitch slap her a few thousand times. No person could possibly be so idiotic.
I read too far into this series not to see it through, but at least my expectations will be met. I know it's going to be garbage.

After finishing Torn I had hopes for this next book to be anywhere close to the first book. I shouldn't have hoped. I read this just to finish it off and torture myself. I'd like to give this book the black star. Ivy Taylor, you annoy the shit out of me. You think too much and your decisions nauseate me. I'm not going to point out the bad things cause it would take a lot of time and I don't want to waste any on the review of this book; yet I'm writing one to show my dismay to the entire series. I thought it was promising when I read the first books. I recommend you to never waste money on this book and if you have you can flush it down the drain. The only thing I liked was Eric's twist. Him being an angel and all that. Also Lorren's secret was somewhat unexpected. I do not like Collin anymore.I think Eric is the only character who is still okay for me. I'm not going to write more. Just please, don't read the book.

Even though I have loved this series so far, this book was hard for me to get through at first. I think it was because it had been awhile since I read the last book so I was a little confused about what was going on. However, once I got to about the halfway point, I really got into it.

Personal feelings aside, this was another great addition to the Demon Kissed series. It was beautifully written, of course, with lots of twists and turns along the way. It reminded me why I fell in love with this series in the first place. I'm really looking forward to the last book, 13th Prophecy!

By the way, I think I've joined Team Eric as well ;)
