Unfortunately for Lyric, she runs straight into old hurts, ugly truths, and hard facts.
Lyric must accept reality.
You can't run forever and you can't hide from who you are.

Please read the Author's Note before diving in. This is a character driven plot with a neurodivergent FMC.

I was VERY lost at the start of this story. Started off great in Chapter 1-2 and then I was VERY lost for two chapters!!!! I am happy I stuck with it as the story picks up by about 30% and it's excellent after that point. Think the authors team should have been more honest and clear that the start is confusing. Recommend sticking it out. The story is great once it picks up. The chemistry and romance is great you just have to make it past that mess of a beginning.

3 Disappointing Stars

…Sigh…

I had high hopes for this book, it really sounded awesome. From the blurb it sounded like it was exactly the type of book I would love. Omegaverse? Rockstars? Heats and knots and steam! YES, PLEASE!

And maybe that was my problem. Maybe my hopes were set too high? Maybe I would have liked it if I’d gone into this book thinking it would be trash? I doubt it.

Quick Synopsis:
FMC was the daughter of two of the most famous rock legends in history! But she had a fucked up life, ‘everyone she loved abandoned her!’. So she runs away and meets a beautiful boy who shares her love of music. Lyric is an Omega, Saint is a beta. They love each other fiercely…or maybe they don’t? Saint messes it all up. He still loves his ex. Lyric runs away, broken and miserable. She starts taking drugs and contemplates suicide. Until she meets a group of rockstar alphas who start trying to put her back together again…

I hate Lyric (FMC). I hate her. This girl is a miserable person. She’s crying throughout the entire book. She has panic attacks and hides in closets. She runs away and runs away and cries and cries and cries. She takes drugs and wants to commit suicide. She thinks she’s trash and no one loves her. All her thoughts are negative. But she’s perfect! She’s a musical prodigy. Every single person on the planet loves her (except the few who don’t because they’re jealous). She can do no wrong. She’s like Mary Poppins ‘practically perfect in every way’. I kept reading hoping Lyric would get better, she never does. I honestly don’t see what the guys like about her.

There were other issues and things that were annoying, but the FMC was, by far, my biggest issue. I’m going to start the next book and really hope it improves. I hope Lyric stops being such a victim.

Rock Royalty. Lyric is the only daughter of two of the biggest rock stars of all time. She was an unofficial band member from her birth. Touring from day one, her life was never stable but when her father died when she was 12 leaving her with her irresponsible druggie mom, her life became chaos. The spotlight was never where Lyric wanted to be and now she's content with her beta love and spending her time trying to donate her time and money to worthy causes. However, life shows her once again that those she loves don't stick around. Hurting, she accepts the invitation from her father's best friend and former bandmate to write some songs for one of their record label's bands. If only she could write herself a happy ending.

Unexpected. I love omegaverse but lately, I have been disappointed. I want more Lola's and Lilah's for those of you familiar with the genre. Now I have Lyric. What a beautiful mess she is, complicated, slightly broken but with so much vitality. She's fantastic, the Alphas are all fantastic, different, and each fully developed. And although the Beta made mistakes, I feel like he could be fantastic too. So great characters? Check. Do the characters have chemistry? Are there emotions other than lust? Check and check! And the story is compelling. There's a wide cast of side characters, plenty of humor, even more angst, and a dangerous mystery. I devoured this book. Even better? The second part of this duet has already been written and released. I can't wait to open page one!

The level of emotion is unreal. I felt for the fmc the entire book. It's pretty clear she's broken and beat down by life by she kept soldiering on. The author didn't explicitly say she's on the spectrum but if you pay attention it seemed pretty clear. She's got a few of the repetitive sayings, the phantom playing, along with her musical gifts. I loved seeing such a unique character that I could relate to.

The pack that's starting to form is interesting. I don't know how Griffin will fit in especially since he's security and not one of the band but I do get why she's into him. Although Griffin's character seemed to be opposite to Lyric you can see why he will be good for her & offer that stability she's craving.

There were a few minor comma errors but nothing that dragged me out of the story or caused reading confusion. Excited to see what emotions the author drags out of me in book 2 because it got me with book 1.

This book was fucking crazy. Holy shit. It was so real and dark that I couldnt put it down. Everything lyric is going through from her thoughts to her monologues. I felt that shit. Every single thing. I love how raw this feels when you read it. Crew is the sweetest boy man. Him and griffin. Those 2 have my fucking heart. Loch and rook were okay. I didnt vibe with them emotionally that much. But man. Their chemistry together whew. Lyric has been through so much. Im so fucking proud of that girl. For all the shit shes been through. Some of the things here were a bit uncomfy though. Like the age gaps. And the plot and dialogue were so confusing at first for like the first half. I was lost and couldn’t figure out what was happening at the beginning but it tied it all well. I do wish lyric didnt forgive that easily. I feel like rook got out of the hook so fast for what he did. He couldve grovelled a bit tbh. 4.5 stars

misleading blurb for book 1

So, initially I passed on this book several times even though I love the omega verse due to the blurb stating the female lead was a pampered princess. I am not a fan of the whiny females that need a man to define them and although Lyric does well with her men she by no means needs them to complete her. She is strong and amazing, she makes hard and painful decisions to try to make people in her life happy. I am so glad I finally just took the plunge this is a great book and I’ve not even read book 2 yet (as soon as I am finished with this review I will be though ;) If you love the omega verse and strong women with hot a sin, loyal sweet men then wait no longer pick up this book and get sucked into her world!

Had major mixed emotions about this book.
Didn't like the main character.
The guys were a mess.
Callan seemed weak. Lachlan the manwhore might be a junky? Rook was arrogant and self-righteous for a guy who disappeared without a word. Griffin was great. The only one of the guys I liked from the jump.
As the story went on I did warm up to them. It was very well written and I think it was purposeful to make them so jacked up in the beginning.

Started real iffy. I'm not a fan of a weak heroine. The start was a bit confusing. I absolutely hate the misunderstanding trope. Once you get to the middle of the book finding out the heroine was manipulated and it wasn't a misunderstanding made a big difference in me being pulled into the story. Also went a long way toward making me like the heroine because I really felt for her.

The way the relationships developed seemed real. You've got the protective bodyguard, the friendship that grows into more, and the instant attraction and chemistry with Lachlan... Delicious! Lyric is reunited with her first love. Rook seemed like a bit forced. Idk we'll see where that goes.

Didn't see that cliffhanger coming! I really wanted to see Saint join the group so that's exciting but don't know how I feel about Jamen at this point.

This book had me laughing out loud at certain points. It got me in the gut reading the characters thoughts and her agony in trying to move on... Totally relatable.

On to book two!

Liked this one a lot

What a great debut book!!!
I loved this different take on omegaverse.
Bringing in real life issues drew me in.
I felt Lyric’s pain wanted to cry for her. Wanted to jump in the book and fight for her. I was so upset at Saint for what he did. Even if she was manipulated he was still in the wrong. The way he acted in the bar. The way he said Reba’s name in his sleep. And I wanted to throat punch her. I’m not sure how I feel about him making an appearance at the end. She was just finding happiness again.
I love love Lachlan! His OTT conceitedness was awesome. He had me laughing.
Griffin, you dirty talking viking. I need one for myself please.
I love Crew and felt just as sad for him.
I’m coming around to Rook. We’ll see how that goes in book 2.

Great book with lots of steam and a slow build up. Loved that the character is plus-size without it being a constant point of insecurity. It was easy to tell the guys apart based on the ways they talked and the nicknames. Everyone had their own quirks and damage. As I was reading it felt very authentic to the struggles we all go through as human beings.

DNF 13%

Chapter 1 is good, but the story quickly devolves from there. The MC is a complete Mary Sue. She's a "broken" blonde beauty that all guys are immediately attracted to (unless they're related/gay/old), and all women are jealous of her. She's pathetic and self-sacrificing, always talking about how "bad" everyone else is but still wishing everyone the best. The pacing is fast, and the chapters aren't well connected. One day she's helping children with music, another and her boyfriend is cheating (?) on her, the next and her suppressants aren't working, then she meets a guy and they have sex. It doesn't help that there is no reasoning or lead-up behind these events either. Sometimes, information is dropped at the end of the scene for dramatic effect, but it's context and not some cool reveal.

DNF @ 71%

I tried really hard to make it through this book. I'm a big fan of omegaverse and I did like the concept of not just giving in to designations. I also don't mind the miscommunication trope but this entire book was just one big miscommunication between every single character.

The entire book was Lyric starting relationships with a variety of Alphas. In the second half of the book all of a sudden a stalker is thrown in there I guess as a twist but it really didn't seem to make sense. I kept waiting for the Beta character we saw at the beginning to come back.

All of the male characters in this book seem to adore Lyric for some unknown reason. She was a basket case, never trying to better herself, never trying to get help and yet all of these men were falling all over themselves to protect her and be near her. She didn't give anything to anyone that made me think she was worthy of this level of devotion.

I also didn't care for the casual drug use. There would just be random parts thrown in where a character would be doing lines of cocaine and nobody seemed to think this was an issue. It didn't add to the story in any way even as a crutch for the characters, it could have even been added in as part of the "rockstar lifestyle" and that would have helped it make more sense.

It took me awhile to get into this book. The writing was choppy and didn't flow very well. Too many characters were introduced and too many names flung around. Sometimes, I wasn't sure who was talking. It's clear that this book could have done with another round of editing. Besides the lack of clarity or flow, there are a lot of misplaced commas and a handful of spelling errors. The word "wary" kept getting misspelt as "weary", for example. The two words have completely different meanings, so that was very distracting.

I thought there was no need for the scene with the "Try Hard Hero" band at the beginning of the story, since they never feature in the story again after that. It was pointless for the author to introduce them to us. I thought they were going to be important to the story because we get introduced to them and they have some interaction with Ryder / Saint and Lyric... but noooooo.

I also thought it doesn't make sense that Lyric hasn't heard of the band "Ruin" and didn't recognise their songs. Sure, she doesn't look at social media, TV, or news. But she and Ryder / Saint kept tabs on the music industry and were always on the lookout for good bands that they could help. They would offer to write songs for the band without taking any credit or royalties. Plus, if a band is doing well, their songs are constantly played on the radio, in malls, and elsewhere. You really can't escape from hearing a hit song.

By the end of the book, there's still no explanation of how Marcus Gaffney is Lyric's brother or how she found out about him. The book keeps hinting at secrets and has people constantly talking in circles as if the reader should know certain things, but... we don't, and that is frustrating.

I only really got invested during the second half of the book, when Lyric started to build relationships with Griffin, Callan, and Lachlan. She tells Griffin Ryder's story and then we finally find out why all that stuff happened in the first 5% of the book. You read me right -- we spend the first half of the book in total confusion.

I'm uncomfortable with how Lyric and Lachlan are often snorting coke or crystal. It's hard to say whether they are addicts -- the drug use seems recreational for the moment, but it's also something that Lyric turns to when she feels overwhelmed and unhappy, and that's obviously not the best way to deal with feelings.

So far, I'm surprised that Lyric hasn't confronted Michael yet (the guy who owns the security firm that is contracted to protect her) over something big that came up in the book. I'd have imagined she'd want to know why he did what he did. If I were in her shoes, I wouldn't have waited to confront him.

She keeps saying she's a mess, but she doesn't seem to be seeking help to "un-mess" herself, so... I don't know. I feel she is a bit of a weak character. It seems that all her life she has been reacting and not really taking control of her own life. What I mean is, someone does something to her, or something happens to her, and she reacts. Instead of thinking of what she wants or what she should do, she just reacts blindly. She finally admits that her M.O. is to always run away. She has suppressed so much pain and trauma that it's now biting her in the behind, because when you suppress stuff instead of dealing with it, it never goes away. It just stays and waits to rear its head again at a moment when you're vulnerable.

I liked that Griffin didn't try to make himself stay away from her out of a sense of responsibility or a notion of what is "proper". He was part of her security team, but he doesn't fight it when he finds himself drawn to her. I liked that Lachlan finds something worth fighting for in her and despite his manwhoring past, he's down for commitment pretty quick. I don't know how I feel about Callan -- he seems just as messed up as Lyric and also rather weak -- I don't believe that it's possible for two messed up people to be together, simply because they'll either end up co-dependent or their issues will cause more friction and conflict. I feel like he should work on his issues first before getting into a relationship with Lyric, especially since he has only just ended his previous relationship, which was a long-term one.

The book still gets four stars from me because it drew me in during the second half. I think this is a debut author because she doesn't have any other books under her Amazon profile. I really hope she gets a professional copy editor and developmental editor to help her polish her work, because the story is good but the beginning was super rough.

Absolutely sensational

Wow, this book! I couldn't put it down, it is so utterly beautifully written, filled with so much depth of character, so many feelings, dealing with really hard topics in a genuinely beautiful way. I wasn't over the moon about Lyric at first, but as the book went on and her character developed alongside the guys and the side characters, I am just loving her! I am head over heels for Griff and Lach, love Crew's gentle, slightly nerdy side that gets all gruff in the sack, and Rook, oh gorgeous Rook. Then there's her hilarious team of Bodyguards who are more than her bodyguards, they're her unofficial family who will do anything to protect her.... And she really needs that protection.....
This truly is an incredible Sweet verse with everything I love about Omegaverse books. I have never, ever enjoyed band/music/rockstar-based books, I've just found them a bit blah and cringy and unreal, but this is just, well, it's everything! I'm off to download book 2.

Do yourself a favour and read this book. It is absolutely amazing.

Saw this recommended a few places.

Wasn't sold based on that blurb. Not that it's misleading. I'd say it just doesn't fully encompass what this book is about. It's an omegaverse which is awesome. But it doesn't get bogged down falling into the trap so many others in this genre do. It's not about what's allowed or not allowed.

It follows an omega who has always avoided alphas because she's in love with a beta. When there relationship falls apart she has to learn how to move forward & let other people in.

I loved the main character. It's so easy to see why she is the way she is and what causes her to make the choices she does. Love it when I can relate to a character.

The men are dangerously hot and I loved how there was spice but not insta-love. Maybe some insta-lust but that's basically like real life anyway.

Can't wait to move on to book 2!

That cliffhanger... If book 2 wasn't already out? I'd have been screaming at my kindle!

The reviews on this book pissed me off. I read an article for Sharp Stick and how Lena Dunham got shit for writing an autistic character. I thought it was bullshit until I saw some of these reviews. No wonder female authors won't write female autistic characters. Cuz yall will forgive a male for anything... Rape, abuse, being a manwhore. But you straight up come for a female when she doesn't have it all together.

I'm a sarcastic asshole it's part of who I am and I'd never make fun of someone with autism.

To some of these reviews
Your parents must be so proud.

On to my actual review. This book is dark and not afraid to show the ugly side of suicidal ideation and drug addiction. Most of the time authors gloss over that shit. It's refreshing to see it covered realistically rather then get glossed over. This book isn't perfect but fuck man some of the reviews made me pissed at society.

The story felt all over the place. Almost like five different story lines squeezed together into one. The dialog also felt awkward and robotic. There was also underlining body shaming with them constantly mentioning how she is too skinny and would look better with extra weight on her. When they weren’t talking about that it was about how perfect she is or how her big hips and boobs don’t fit on her super tiny waist. It was all just shoved in the readers face and felt uncomfortable to read.

These were just the first few things that bothered me but it was enough to not enjoy the book as much as I would have liked.

The h is too meek for my tastes. Will have to see how that goes in book 2! Liked that Crew is half Dominican like me. Rook sounds hot as hell! Might even take Jamen! I do wish the h wasn't another blond/blue eyed white girl but I'm not going to press it too hard because she's thick and curvy. She had enough traits she wasn't a Mary Sue. Heard it's a first time author and I hope she branches out. Rep some poc h's! Loved the writing! Lots of humor and angst.

not the best

I don’t want to trash this book but it was a mess. The worse part was the formatting and scene setting. The plot was choppy and didn’t really make sense. Book needs a really good edit and some clear story direction. I won’t be picking up the second one.

Ughhhh. I feel very confused about this book.
I liked it…?
But also the writing style was so hard to feel connected to with its weird time jumps and random details missing and all the punctuation in wacky places and strange dialogue and the weird place it just jumped right into at the very beginning with no context or explanation.
The relationships too. They were all jumbled and confusing and I couldn’t tell if I actually liked any of the characters or not.
Especially the FMC.
Lyric is so fucking hard to get a read on. She’s extremely emotionally volatile and she gets upset on a dime and does the dumbest shit.
Then there’s the drugs and the people from Lyric’s past. I don’t like that shit, but I also can’t tell if it’s actually going to get addressed or if it’s just some random thing this author decided to put in because they’re all rockstars. So far only a couple characters seemed even mildly concerned about it and, in my opinion, they’re the wrong ones.
I’m just so confused.

Im gonna have to read the next one just to try to figure out what the actual fuck is happening. Maybe.
I might just give it up and try and find something I’ll enjoy more….
We’ll see I guess.

Can not get over how much this book surprised me! Honestly when reading omegaverse novels (which I absolutely love lately) it can be a huge gamble. They are either really great or basically all smut with little character development or plot. This is not one of those books.

The characters all have very distinctive personality traits, ways of talking, and even mannerisms. The main character really annoyed me at first... Then we started getting into the second half of the book and I saw my absolute favorite thing ever. Character growth! This author truly knows how to weave a story to draw you in and make you feel invested in the characters.

I'm fairly sure this is a first time author and I'm shocked. Really excited to see where this story goes! Can I just say, Griffin is basically my dream guy. Swoon. Lachlan is funny and has that bad boy vibe going on. Callan... So sweet and nerdy but hot. Rook... Ehh I'm not sold on him yet but I'm excited to see how the story ends up and see what happens with Saint.

I really loved that book. Read it in one go, couldn't put it down and luckily, it's a duet. So, I have still one book to go. During the read, I had Pack Darling, and Lola & the Millionaires vibes. For me, none of these books are better or worse. I loved all the books, and they are in my top 10 list of all favorite Omegaverse books.

But this book took me by surprise. It's a new author. I really hope she plans on writing more Omegaverse books, because this debut is great.

All the feelings, struggles and all. This book is an emotional roller coaster with dept and heavy themes. And rock stars. Angsty, a threat in the background at the moment. And a lot of spice. I loved it.

I find some misspellings and grammar issues, too. But that's minor. For one, it's not the important part to me. Because we are humans, and humans make mistakes. So, as long as I understand what I read, it's all okay. I don't take such things in the rating.

For me, it's most significant, what I feel after reading a book. There are always different reasons, why I like this or that book. And others don't. And it always depends on the mood, too. So, I'm prone to like this book. For one, it is Omegaverse. And that's my favorite book genre. Of course, with RH books in general. But nothing gets me reading a book faster, when it's labelled Omegaverse. Especially, if it's something new.

The other thing, why I like this book too, is the link to music. I love rock music myself, and I do hear a lot of music in general. So, reading this with music I like and can connect with. And see how it fits the situations in the books. It's my personal heaven. I wasn't that excited over a book in a long time.

Sure, I had great reads in the past days. And I love some of them. But it's not the same level of loving something. I mean, for example, I love different kind of cakes like a lot of people. But my favorite cake is Frankfurt crown cake. Or bring me sushi. It's my favorite food.

So, I devoured this book like nothing else. Even with some imperfections. Like, I get it why people state a lot of things were confusing or have difficulties with that much people. There are constantly mysteries and secrets going on. We don't have the whole picture most of the time of the book. But we get there. I don't know how much will be revealed in book two. Hopefully, there are no loose ends.

But for me, it was no problem. Again, I do write overviews of all characters during the read, so I never get confused or forget how people look like. Sure, I still have questions. For one, about Reba and what is her deal. And her brother, who isn't explained much. And some things more. But I like mysteries and have no issues with that.

But now is enough of reviewing part one. I want to read the next. And then there will be my final review of both books.

Loved This!

This book is emotional, action packed, interesting and spicy!

The characters have depth, keep you on your toes and make you not want to put the book down. The cliffhanger at the end has me downloading the next book straight away to see what’s to come next for Lyric and her guys!

A great story about life and new beginnings

I borrowed this book when it first came out and only read a little before my anxiety had me ignoring it until yesterday.
Like some people my head and heart weren't in the right place to read it. I could not regret picking it back up.
What can I really say about this book?
Well, for one I'm much like the fmc. I don't like confrontation, I'm hard to trust others, and I'm familiar with the aching of greif .
This book surprised me.
The characters were more than characters to me. I hurt when they were hurting. I fell in love at the same pace as the h did.
I laughed until I literally had to set my phone down, take off my glasses, and wipe my eyes. It's that good.
I remember when Lochlan was introduced I said to myself out loud, 'I'm gonna frigging love this guy!' And I did.
There are some real things to watch out for trigger wise and probably that is why I took so long to read this.
Having felt heartbreak, depression, and at one time in my life the lowest moments in the human condition that can make you think unhealthy thoughts this book spoke to me.
This book also had me laughing stupid at 4am and reading the second book already.
I'll read this beautiful story again but I may need a bit of time first.

Amazing read!!

A unique twist on an RH Omegaverse!

I loved that even though Alpha, Beta and Omega play a huge part in the story, it didn't overwhelm the story with what Omegas can and can't do, what's expected and not. I find a lot of omegaverse gets lost in that part of the story.

Lyric Sinclair, Sinners, is an omega that hates the spotlight, but loves music and writing. She is a likeable character that ripped me apart. It was easy to connect with what she was going through and feel the emotional side of what she was going through.

I had a hard time figuring out where things were going, but it kept me engaged and curious that I devoured it in one day. I loved that guy's and the multiple POV.

I can't wait to see where book 2 is going. Great story!!
