Rate this book

Makarios Droushiotis, (63), is an investigative journalist and writer from Cyprus. Over the course of his career he has published 12 books on various aspects of the recent history of Cyprus. He has written for several newspapers in Cyprus and in Greece. He became actively involved in politics for the first time in the early 2010s when he worked on the presidential electoral campaign of Nicos Anastasiades. After Anastasiades won, he was appointed as his special advisor. In October 2014 he was forced to give up his position as a result of pressure from the Russian ambassador in Nicosia because he had published a book that criticised the role played by the Soviet Union in the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Leaving Cyprus, Makarios became personal assistant to Cyprus’ EU Commissioner, Mr Christos Stylianides in Brussels where he served until 2019. His latest published work is a trilogy about corruption in Cyprus.

Worth reading. Sheds light into aspects of EOKA not part of mainstream discourse and official narratives. A bit dark as well.
