About the author

Chen Che, better known by her pen name Chiung Yao or Qiong Yao, was a Taiwanese writer and film producer. She has been regarded as the most popular romance novelist in the Chinese-speaking world, and her novels have been adapted into more than 100 films and TV dramas. Works by Chiung Yao include the 1963 novel Outside the Window and the television series My Fair Princess.

Sungguh tak bisa aku jatuh simpati pada tokoh utama buku ini, Putri Sinyue, atau pasangannya, Jenderal Nu Tahai.

Penderitaan Sinyue yang harus kehilangan gelar putri dan turun derajat jadi selir Nu Tahai adalah konsekuensi yang pantas karena jatuh cinta dan menyerahkan diri pada suami orang lain.

Lebih simpati pada Yanchi, istri sang Jenderal yang diposisikan sebagai peran antagonis di buku ini.
