EXCERPT: I open the door as my phone bleeps. The door is slammed shut behind me. I step into the lift, pull out my phone and squint to read the message through the cracks in the screen. There is a dark picture, the silhouette of a woman in a doorway. The text message simply reads Every move you make and every step you take, I'll be watching you. I rub the screen and look again, and realise the woman in the picture is me. The photo is of me entering the building.

ABOUT THIS BOOK: Ewan Galbreith is out of prison.

Libby Owen is scared.

Fifteen years earlier she saw Ewan murder her aunt and uncle with their own shotgun, and now he’s coming for her.

MY THOUGHTS: I cannot even begin to imagine the fear of being stalked, much less by someone who has already killed my family. I virtually read this book in one sitting, and while it didn't have me holding my breath in anticipation/fear, it certainly is compelling reading.

Watching You is written over two timelines; the present where Libby is receiving texts, photos and flowers from someone who can only be Ewan, who has always protested his innocence, and fifteen years earlier where the events leading up to the killing of Libby's family are slowly revealed.

Libby is a spoiled little rich girl, and little changes in the intervening years. Yes, she has her own business, but she is still self-centred and everything is about her. I tried to like her but, in all honesty, just couldn't. I had far more empathy for Ewan.

This is an interesting read, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more depth to the characters, and I would have liked to have felt the suspense.

😊😊😊.5

WATCHING YOU is a psychological thriller by author Lynda Renham. This was my first book by this author and wow it won't be my last. I have another novel of hers to read, “Remember Me”, a dark psychological thriller, that I will be starting shortly. Psychological thrillers are my all- time favorite genre so I was very much looking forward to reading it.

Libby Owen, will always remember New Years’ Eve 2000. She was found running away from her house, unable to talk, covered in blood, after her aunt and uncle had been shot dead. The estate gamekeeper is found guilty of their murder but now fifteen years later Ewan Galbreith is out of prison.

Libby tried to go underground. She moved, changed her name, hair color and overall appearance. She was so SCARED! Fifteen years earlier she saw Ewan murder her aunt and uncle with their own shotgun, and now he’s coming for her.

But when she starts to get texts and emails saying she is being watched, she starts to panic and turns to the policewoman who helped her at the time. She even hires a security guard on a temporary basis. The story is told in the present but with flashbacks to what happened 15 years ago, at the time leading up to the murders.

A gripping edge-of-the-seat thriller with a stunning twist. I did work out where this one was going but it didn’t spoil my reading along to the volatile ending,

Many thanks to the author and Raucous Publishing for providing me with a copy.

Ewan Galbreith has just been released from prison where he served 15 years for murdering Edward and Rose Owen. Their niece, Libby, was the only witness and she testified against Ewan at his trial.

Since then, Libby has moved, changed her name, her hair color and mode of dress. She knows he's coming after her and she's terrified.

She knows he's found her ,,, she's getting text messages that say ... Watching You. She also gets pictures taken of her at places she has just been. The police can't do anything .. scaring her isn't a punishable offense. She hires her own security guard, but that only works temporarily.

Is it really Ewan who has found her? Or someone tracking her down for some nefarious reason of their own? Why don't the police seem to take her seriously?

This is a well written psychological thriller. The book goes back and forth between today and what happened 15 years ago that lead up to the killings. The characters are outstanding. Libby was the spoiled little rich girl, Ewan was the older man who was a lot more than most people saw. There are secondary characters that lend an air of credibility to the story. The suspense builds until the very explosive ending.

Many thanks to the author / TBC Reviewer Request Group / for the advanced digital copy of this psychological thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I do love how Lynda Renham has made the leap from romance to psychological thriller writer and it’s always a pleasure when she has a new book out. I was looking forward to reading Watching You and once I started, I have to say I became completely engrossed!

The first few pages managed to grab my attention straight away. We all remember what we were doing on that very special New Years Eve to welcome in the new millennium but Libby Owen has more reason than most to remember that night. She was found running away from her house, covered in blood and when eventually she was able to speak she told her rescuers that her aunt and uncle had been shot dead. The estate gamekeeper is found guilty of their murder but fifteen years later Ewan Galbreith is out of prison and Libby knows he is coming to find her.

If you like twisty plots full of unlikable characters, then Watching You will be right up your street. Libby Owen has tried to forget what happened the night of the murders. She has changed her name and moved away from her beautiful Cornish estate to live in London. But when she starts to get texts and emails saying she is being watched, she starts to panic and turns to the policewoman who helped her at the time. The story is told in the present but with flashbacks to the weeks leading up to the murders. It is in those forays into the past that we meet the teenage Libby and a plentiful cast of locals, where there are secrets and deceit around every corner. I think this part of the narrative was my favourite as I got completely caught up in their shocking antics. Libby wasn’t always the most likeable of characters as she came across as a spoilt little brat at times but the grown up Libby is very different indeed and watching her fear of what was happening to her felt realistic, if a little voyeuristic at times, as the tension started to rise.

I did work out where this one was going but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the ride getting there. Terrifically twisty with a few shocks along the way, Watching You was a thoroughly entertaining read from start to finish. It’s dark and disturbing at times but you will be unable to tear your eyes away from it!

Libby is left terrified for her safety when the man charged with murdering her aunt and uncle is released from prison. He has always maintained that he is innocent and vowed to have revenge when he was sentenced. Libby thinks that he may go after her.

This was a very chilling read, keeping you on the edge of your seat. We get flashbacks to the millennium when the crime was committed and there are a whole range of possible suspects. You are left second guessing the story all the way along as we meet characters who become a possible suspect in your mind. Is Galbraith evil and twisted and planning terrifying retribution? You can feel Libby's fear.

I couldn't put the book down- desperate to know what was going to happen.

the year 2000 on Millenium eve, 17 years old Libby comes home to Manstead manor to find both her aunt and uncle have been shot dead. she fled down to the beach, and was found by party revellers wandering. Ewan Garbreith has done his time for the murder and after fifteen years is released from prison, and told to keep away from Libby. This book was excellent, a great paced psychological thriller that had me hooked to the end. The writing style was spot on for the book and I loved the characters of Libby and Ewan, the whole plot was crafted very well.

I guessed the major twist in the plot about half way through the book but it didn't put me off and the suspense was still there as the book crept along to the brilliant ending, it had plenty of twisty bits and at times I also felt like getting up and checking my doors and windows were locked!

I didn't want to put it down and I'd devoured the whole story in a couple of hours. A brilliant five star read - it was superb!!

I would like to thank Lynda Renham for this wonderful and page twisting book.

This started off really good and I wondered what they was going to do with going back and forth with the story. Libby is really scared of Ewan Galbreith. The way Lynda makes the story unfold and the twists within the book. It made you think of so many different characters (if they killed Libby's aunt and uncle). But you NEVER see it coming to who really killed them. I was shocked that the killer was revealed so late in the book that it turned my thoughts upside down lol.

Definitely would recommend this book and will definitely be reading more from Lynda Renham in the future.

Libby Owens aunt and uncle are dead. Ewan Galbreith was sentenced to 15 years for killing them. but did he kill them? if he didn't kill them who did and why?
a very good read with likeable characters. I did have my theory about who did it and why. I was right with who did it just got the why wrong. A very good plot. 4*.

Watching You, by Lynda Renham, is an amazing psychological thriller.
Libby Owen is very scared. Why you ask?
Well, Ethan Galbraith has been released from prison.
Fifteen years earlier, Libby witnessed Evan murder her aunt and uncle. She testified against him. Is he coming after her? Does he know where she is?
This is my first novel by Lynda Renham, but I promise you... it will not be my last.
The characters are well developed and interesting. Even the secondary characters add an interesting voice to the story.

The intense eye on the front cover of this nail biting psychological thriller made me question who was "Watching You".
The book begins with a tense race for freedom and carries on with non~stop action and excitement.
The characters are well formed, as the reader, I grew to like them all and thought I had worked out who the villian was....
Two of the characters had the name sakes of cast members in Eastenders (Libby Owen and Ben Mitchell) which threw me for a while!
A fast, exciting read which I throughly enjoyed. I look forward to reading more from Lynda Renham in the near future.

Watching you by Lynda Renham
A game of cat and mouse starts 15 years after an horrific murder. In Watching You, Lynda Renham takes the reader on a breath holding journey of fear and paranoia. Libby is living a life of quiet luxury in London having changed her identity to escape her past. But that past is about to try to catch up with her.
This book is well written and paced. Even though the story goes back and forward in time, there is a flow and synchronicity to the journey. I am happy to recommend this book to fellow readers and give it 4 stars.

This is a brilliant book and I became so engrossed in it, I had it read within 24 hours. Libby's Aunt and Uncle were murdered 15 years ago and the murderer is now out of prison, he said he would come after Libby when he got out. Libby is now terrified and knows he is on to her.

This is a great psychological thriller that really keeps you guessing until the end.

MY REVIEW OF WATCHING YOU BY LYNDA RENHAM.

Watching you is a gripping thriller that feels a bit like a cat and mouse chase. I really enjoyed the gripping storyline and getting to see both sides of the tragic murder from Libby and Ewan’s eyes. This is the perfect book to read in the dark or on your phone while running on a treadmill, either way, you’ll feel your heart pounding in your chest.

The story itself follows Libby as she discovers her loved ones murdered in their home. However, she knows who did it. 15 years later Ewan gets released from prison and starts to rebuild his life, reconnect with the few friends that still believe in his innocence’s. However, does he have darker motives to haunt Libby now he’s free? Libby feel’s he does and becomes a sacred shadow of herself, every noise, every phone call, the thought of returning to the outside world makes her jump, her heart pound. But will she come in contact with Ewan? Will he seek revenge? Or is this all in her mind and the world have moved on since 15 years ago? Read this book to find out.

I really enjoyed getting to know Libby and thought that author Lynda did a great job at projecting her feeling of fear and being mentally torched throughout the book. I think at times Libby had me wondering if the fear she felt was all in her head or if the phone calls were real and she really was getting haunted. I liked how her character kept me guessing.

I also found Ewan character interesting, after he was released from prison we get to see him in the past, his love affairs with taken women and fights that happened while working for Libby’s family, then him interacting with others from his past life and how they perceive his guilt/ innocence. For me, I was never sure until the end if he was a murderer or just a misunderstood man.

If you like chilling stories that will keep you guessing. Why not try Watching You by Lynda Renham.

The blurb is short, which actually here I like as what more do you need to get you invested?! And it’s so easy to invest time into this, a book that starts with a bang and continues its momentum as we meet Libby Owen, who has changed her name and is living in fear of her life after she was threatened by a man she helped put in prison for the murder of he aunt and uncle. The book is basically us following Libby as she gets more and more paranoid about Galbreith coming to pay her back, while you’re wondering if it is actually him. You are thrust back in time to see what happened to lead to the murders and shown the village, where many people actually had a reason to go after Libby’s uncle.

In modern day we also meet the man himself, Ewan, and a sergeant Fran Marshell and Inspector Mike Magregor, who have been following the case from the start.

I really enjoyed this book, even though it was a bit grubby at times, with sexual content and harsh language, but I suppose that’s par for the course in a story set in an opressed little village where the man of the manor uses people like pawns and smushes them to keep things going the way he wants. In terms of the modern day story I enjoyed trying to figure out if I was wrong in a very early assumption I made. I wasn’t, I’ll admit I guessed very early on part of the twist, although I had a few different thoughts on how it was going to happen, which is the fun of it really, isn’t it? I vaguely thought one of the additional components to the twist might happen, but fought against it and yes, I raised my eyebrows when it happened. To be honest, there’s times where the term ‘suspension of disbelief’ comes to mind, and I think die hard thriller readers mightn’t be choice targets for this book, but saying that I think others will enjoy it and I appreciated what the author was doing and didn’t at any point want to put it down.

Rating: 4/5

Ewan Galbraith is released after serving fifteen years of a twenty year sentence for the murder of Edward and Rose Owen. Ewan had worked as gamekeeper for the Owens and was well respected he was a hard worker and he loved the animals he cared for. He was a bit of a lad and got himself into no end of trouble because of this.
It was New Years Eve at the millennium when seventeen year old Libby Owen ran onto the beach covered in blood saying someone had shot her aunt and uncle and she thought they were dead. As she had seen someone she was the only witness, the person she saw was Ewan Galbraith. As he was sentenced and taken down to the cells he shouted he was going to get them all he did not do this and once he was free he’d make them pay.
Fifteen years on Libby had changed her surname and moved so she wouldn’t be found she had built up a very successful business. She had to be told of Ewans release because of the threats. After his release strange things started to happen and Libby was sure it was Ewan threatening her and that he had found her.
Sergeant Fran Marshall was her liaison officer so when the emails and messages started coming Fran began to investigate but nothing was going back to Ewan.
I really enjoyed this book I wanted to find out what had happened didn’t want to put it down. There was a lot of plot twists which I didn’t see coming. Definitely recommend this book.

If you enjoy a book that has you checking repeatedly that you’ve locked the doors and looking under the bed for someone lying in wait, you’re going to just love this one! It’s a great story, and the pacing is absolutely perfect. The book alternates between present day – after Ewan Galbraith’s release from prison, focusing on his promise that he will take revenge on everyone involved in his murder conviction – and the build up to the carnage of Millennium Eve, and the structure works really well. The writing is taut and just wonderfully edgy, and the characterisation is excellent: as well as the main characters, I particularly liked the police team – involved in the investigation of the earlier events, again handling Libby’s protection – and the light focus on their personal lives as the main story twists and turns around them.

Doubts that you’re getting the full story start to creep in as the pages turn faster, the threat increasing and getting ever closer with every new text message and photo. But the “stunning twist” of the Amazon description took me totally by surprise – convincing, credible and a suitably shocking climax to a book that had me on the edge of my seat from its opening pages.

Lynda Renham is a go-to, must-read author for me. With each new release I become more of a fan. Watching you is a thriller that I could not put down. There were so many clues, so many times that I thought I knew what the real story about Ewan and Libby was. By the end I realized I had no clue and I loved every minute of reading this story.

I wanted to hate Ewan, he was creepy, he was stalkerish, and he was a double murderer. Yet, there was something that I felt sorry for. He truly believed he was innocent of the crime that he was convicted of. He went the wrong way to prove it, he made himself look guiltier, and he scared the…out of me.

Libby was the character that I felt sorry for. I couldn’t believe that she had lived in fear for so long, fear of someone knowing who she was, knowing her history, knowing what she was living in fear of. I knew that there was more to the story but I had no clue what the rest of the story was.

The twists and turns of her life were so crazy and so enthralling. I could not stop, I could not put the book down, I could not wait to get to the end of the book. When I did get to the end I didn’t want it to end. I wanted more, I wanted to keep reading. This is my favorite Lynda Renham book so far.

I became a fan of Lynda Renham after reading "Remember Me" and being blown away. When her new novel hit the stand, I grabbed it immediately! Another great read from the author, this book sucks you in during the first few pages.

As an American (Southern at that) I always enjoy reading a book with an author from the UK. Their verbiage and "chippy's" always make me smile when I come across them in a character dialogue. This book is full of twists and turns that are sure to keep you guessing if Ewan is in fact the murder or even chasing Libby at all.

While I did guess where this book was going pretty early into the book, I still found myself flipping the pages and enjoying the interchanging past/present chapter quickly to see if I was right!

The only thing I would have loved to see added onto Watching You was the story of Patrick. I can't go to far into detail without spoilers, but I would have loved to read about his ending of the story.

Great job Lynda, I will be picking up anything you put on the shelf madam!

Well I'm not new to Lynda's books and don't always enjoy thrillers but this one blew me away. Gripped from the first chapter. A story that goes back and forth from 2000 to the present day. A young woman is convinced she's being followed and knows who it is. Its the man who wants revenge. A double murder back on the eve of the Millenium changes the lives of people in a small town by the sea. This story makes you change your mind with each chapter as we find out about the various people in the small town. Its a fast paced read and the tension builds from start to finish. Cracking twist. Well worth its 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Wow. This is the first book I have read of Lynda's and I couldn't put it down. I've read late into the night because I couldn't put it down. You can't help but feel sorry for some of the characters and want others to get their comeuppance but the twists keep throwing you off. I had managed to half guess the ending but there were a number of shocks that I didn't get. I will definitely be looking at other books by Lynda.

Thank you.

Just finished this great book, it is Fantabulous! I loved it! I couldn’t put it down it is was past 1am by the time I reached the end. It was a first for me to read a book that took me back and forth at the beginning it was disconcerting but I got the hang of it. It kept me guessing who the murderer was, I had my suspicions but I guess I was wrong. Love how the story has that sudden twist and you can’t see it. Definitely a good read recommendation.

This thriller is gripping from the first page. The story revolves around the happenings of new years eve at the millenium, and the book jumps back and forth to be hat time. The story does get a little too far fetched to really apiece at he end but I was still gripped by it. Would read more by this writer as she has a nice way of making the characters grab you.
