Sybil Anderson is caught in a dilemma. She’s been in the BDSM scene long enough to know what she needs, but the man she wants doesn’t want the same things she does. Oh he’s dominant; there’s no doubt about that. He’ll demand, he’ll tie her up, he’ll torment her with pleasure, but he refuses to lay a hand on her lily-white rear. And that’s what she wants most.
Concerned that he’ll lose control, Kellon Marecek has always avoided the spanking part of BDSM, but when he meets Syb, she wants more than he’s ever given. He’ll need to change now or lose her. And he’s not giving up Sybil for any reason, not because of his reluctance and definitely not because of her rampant disobedience.
When it comes to books and movies, Brynn Paulin has one rule: there must be a happy ending. After that one requirement, anything else goes. And it just might in any of her books.
Brynn lives in Michigan, where she likes to spoil her children and dogs—not necessarily in that order. She also loves to cook, travel and spend far too much time on social media. She enjoys mentoring and meeting new people and is always willing to chat. Personally, she finds great pleasure in spending time with her family and dogs, as well as volunteering around her community.
First published in June 2007 by Ellora's Cave, Brynn is the author of over 130 books, including the bestselling Daly Way and Taboo Wishes series.
According to Brynn, her writing success can be attributed to an eclectic collection of music, her local road construction crews, a trusty notebook, and of course, the people in her life who’ve finally accepted that everything is research—or will be.
This one didn't pull me in as much as the others in this series. It felt dry. Not a lot of heat. I didn't feel the connection between them. Plus, male's character seemed off. This may be a one time read.
Sybil Disobedience is book five in the Taboo Wishes series by Brynn Paulin. This story is HOT, like all of the stories in this series. Sybil and Keelan are in love. They've picked out a house and are buying it together until Sybil realizes she's unhappy. Syb and Keelan are in the Sub and Dom relationship and work together at the Dungeon. She designs and fits the costumes and Keelan works security. Her needs as a sub have her craving Keelan to spank her. Keelan grew up in an abusive household and can't take that step. He buys the equipment and starts training sessions to learn to spank her, while working through his issues. He plans to tell her about the sessions, when she tells him she's finished. She can't buy the house, she can't be with him. She loves him but she needs more and he can't give it to her. He tries to talk to her, but he's too angry. They split and he struggles to get her back. She asks her friend to pretend to be her new Master in order to push Keelan away. It has the opposite affect and Keelan takes control of the situation. They reunite and fall in love, only this time they're both completely satisfied and trust each other fully.

This was a fairly short story and, like the others in the series, there were things I liked and those I didn't.
I had a hard time getting into this one because I couldn't connect to either of the characters. The basic premise, that Sybil was a disobedient sub who wanted more than her Dom was willing to give, didn't work well for me. The author did attempt to make it clear that breaking up with her Dom wasn't the disobedient part, so I get that. But Kellon's behavior really skimmed the stalking line in my opinion. Not an easy line to write, I imagine, but this one wobbled a bit from alpha male to bullyish behavior.
There were some very hot scenes which did leave a nice impression, particularly the last one. So, if you're looking for something short and hot without a whole lot of character development (but there was some!) I'd recommend this book to you.
"She'd always laughed and said, "Once you go smack, you never go back."
from Rob -- "I know you respect her, but in the bedroom all of the bullshit of modern society ends. You're the caveman and she's your woman, and she wants you to deal with her. Believe me, you'll find release in it and so will she".
"Power burned through him. It wasn't because he could dominate her or because he had the ability to deliver this pain or because he might even hurt her. No, it was because of her submission. Her submission gave him power, because she gave it to him when she could give to anyone. She'd chosen him. Him. While he'd still been dominant, taking herself from him had weakened him and stolen some of his control. She was his and he needed her. They needed each other in this symbiotic existence."
This was a good story about what happens when things don't go well in a relationship, and not several years or a long time and they meet up again, but the few months following and how they work their way back together again.
Both characters are interesting and well rounded, and their interactions are hot and fueled by deep emotions, it totally sucked me into their story!
This was the least favorite in the series for me. It kind of felt like she was reaching to much for this couple to be different. It is still a decent read to finish off the series so far.
