Driven to claim his mate…
Derek fled the West Coast for Twin Pines College to escape his family’s scrutiny about his personal life, which allows him to stay firmly in the closet. Playing football is just a bonus. Then, he meets a man worth coming out for—the almost impossibly handsome Grizzlies' quarterback, Brandon Sanders.
Brandon’s refined good looks hide a dark desire. To placate his controlling father, Brandon lives a secret life of quick flings with equally closeted lovers. Never has he found a partner he trusts enough to fully let go and let himself fulfill his deepest desire—to submit sexually to the right man.
As the unlikely pair explores each other’s most compelling fantasies, Brandon begins to wonder if the security of his father’s money and approval is worth living a lie. As Brandon gathers the courage to break free, strange things start happening between him and Derek, a mystery that grows only deeper when they find out the bear they saw in the back of the team’s equipment truck was real.
Who will be able to explain their new, strange connection, and will that bond be strong enough to support a brand-new life out in the open?
Note: Driven Alpha [Twin Pines Grizzlies 2] was previously published as Quarterback [Gridiron Gods 2]. Due to popular demand, the series has been revised to emphasize the bear shifting. If you have already read Gridiron Gods 1 to 7, you do not need to read Twin Pines Grizzlies 1 to 7 in order to continue with Strong Alpha [Twin Pines Grizzlies 8].
Driven Alpha will be available on its release date in your bookshelf for download if you have already purchased Quarterback directly at BookStrand (this option is not available if purchased elsewhere).
Well this one did not disapoint it was as corny as the last but I still loved it lol. Actually I feel like these could be so much longer. McLeod is focusing on the wrong things in my opinion. The plot was good but, there was no real followup the Sloth other then nexus pairing them and leaving which leaves even more unanswered questions. It's like these stories are actually modern romances and she throws something paranormal in at the end to meet the requirments and thinks that will be enough. Even though they had great chemistry to be honest her sad attempts at bdsm got a little uncomfortable a times. The "dirty talk" well you just need to read it. It was a bit much. But still I would still recomend these books to anyone. On to the next.
Heart pounding and extremely arousing... and that is in just the first few pages. This is a story of two young men from totally different backgrounds who are destined for the same future, a future together.
Brandon is the quarterback of the football team and by all rights living the perfect life. He comes from a wealthy family and has his head on straight where school is concerned. Brandon hides who he is in fear of upsetting his family. Being gay isn’t something his abusive father will accept. So when a game of gay chicken gets down and dirty, Brandon realizes he is sick of not being who he is and decides to take things further with a sexy Derek.
Derek is the fun loving easy going kind of friend everyone should have. He came to college because he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and has been living it up since. He, like Brandon, has had to hide his sexuality from his family but unlike Brandon it doesn’t consume Derek. His laid back acceptance of life helps Brandon realizes he can have what he wants, he just has to let go and grab it.
Both men come to terms with their feelings for one another and hope starts to bloom. Brandon confesses his desires to Derek and Derek is on board for making those desires come to life. But in every good love story conflict upsets the balance. Same is true in Quarterback. When Brandon’s homophobic father comes to take him back home to Boston it’s Brandon’s choice to tuck tail and go home or fight for what he wants.
This is the second in the Gridiron God’s series and the first I’ve read. I felt a little lost in this story. There were a few things that weren’t explained and I was left wondering what they meant. This is a shifter story, bears to be exact, but it wasn’t talked about much. This was more of a love story between Brandon and Derek and how they overcome their struggles. The paranormal aspects were just a small part of this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. It has strong male characters, both struggling for what they want, plus the extremely graphic love scenes had me glued to the very end. In the first few pages the author whets the reader's appetite with an erotic little game of gay chicken and from there keeps the heat turned up on every encounter between Brandon and Derek. Dirty talk, toys, and wildly unadulterated sex between two consenting adults was highly entertaining. I would recommend reading the first in the series so you have that extra bit of background story. This was an enjoyable read and I look forward to more from the Gridiron Gods.
Again, surprisingly sweet, in spite of all the rough sex talk and kink. And this author really is able to strike terror into my heart as well; last time wasn’t a fluke.
It’s so odd. Even if at first it did not feel this way (during this book) I am really getting into this series and this style of writing. It really is a little harsh with its sexual terminology, but somehow this really works and the love and devotion are exhilarating while still retaining something real. Amazing. I also like that the author has a very good grasp of her language and that she often uses a word here and there that I did not expect. Intelligent, but not pretentiously so.
Very enjoyable follow up to the first story. I like that it even starts with some of the same events from #1 and continues on from there. Can't wait to see who the next couple is!
God this story is for a trash. It doesn't have sense, everything circles around sex, sex, sex and even those kinky bdsm games between Derek and Brandon were simple boring and idiotic. I will stop with this series at this point, there is no need to read it on, the bottom line in all those books is in sex and daydreaming porno games. Simply Idiotic!
Even with the Series and title change.. Shifter doesn't come in until the last 5 pages and they never shift just told about it. I understand it's leading up to something but still the paranormal side is really weak.
3.5 I think I liked this better than the first one (though not enough to give it a higher rating), but I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe just because I had a better understanding of the world, so wasn't tripped up trying to figure it out? Regardless, I enjoyed it but it didn't really "wow" me.
This was the flip-side of the previous book. Too much sex, poorly written and boring. We've learned no more about the sloth and if the next one in the series is this bad I'm going to make a big stink! I'm praying this is just the sophomore jinx.
