Having loved the Trinity Blood anime, the story is even better at the source - the light novels series written by Sunao Yoshida. I have really enjoyed this story, which is set in a post-Armageddon world where what remains of humanity is pitted in a cold war against vampires.
While the manga is much closer to the novel than the anime, there is still so much more to the story in the novel format than any other, and a lot of questions about the Trinity world are slowly explained.
Overall, Tokyopop does a fairly good job in translation and presentation. There are several minor spelling errors, but the story flows much better than the previous volume. Either Sunao Yoshida has improved in his writing or Tokyopop has improved on its translation and editing. Either way, this novel was an improvement upon the first and I look forward to reading the next release.
As to the storyline, Esther is now working under Father Nightroad as an investigator of foreign affairs for the Vatican. Unlike the anime or the manga, she is aware of Nightroad's Crusnik abilities, but she does not understand how much it can change him or how much it hurts him to become such a monstrosity as a vampire of vampires. It is an interesting conflict between these two characters as we learn so much more about them than we ever learned in the other story-telling formats. Similar to the anime and manga however is the introduction of Ion and the secret communication attempts between the New Human Empire (vampires) and the Vatican. Will peace finally come between these two races, or is it impossible?
Highly recommended. Now if only the next release came out soon!!
