Cherry Elton was beside herself! Her own mother had arranged a marriage for her to a man she had never even met. She had no choice but to run away.
Sky Westbrooke had no wish to marry, but his mischievous siblings sorely needed a firm maternal hand. Yet, how could he court his unseen bride, when into his employ had come the most remarkable, enchanting governess?
And Cherry, playing at being a governess was smitten by the handsome, cavalier Lord Westbrooke. His stolen kisses left her breathless—yet, he was betrothed to another. Whatever was a love struck governess to do?
**note: this is an updated version of an earlier novel written as Claudette Williams. The updated versions of Claudy's Claudette Williams titles are more sexually explicit than the original versions.
This story by Claudy Conn, is a beautifully written Historical Regency of two people drawn together under unusual circumstances.
Our Hero, Sky, has betrothed himself to an unknown woman in order to have a wife to care for his young rambunctious siblings.
Our Heroine, Cherry, is being forced to wed by her Step-mother. To avoid this unwanted marriage, Cherry runs away. During her escape she meets up with Sky on the road (neither of them aware that they are each others intended) and things between them start to heat up very quickly.
You will laugh at Cherry's antics and her feisty attitude that has a tendency to get her into trouble.
I loved this very touching and wonderful Regency love story by Claudy and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. I certainly look forward to reading many more books from this author.

My Thoughts: I needed a quick easy read the other night and Oh Cherry Ripe was in my “Need Read” File on the kindle. I’ve been needing to read this for a while, but got distracted like most book reviewers do.... Dang this was awesome! I couldn't put it down and stayed up through the night to finish it.
The Review: The characters were amazing and the chance of them meeting like this and falling in love was almost a fairy tale ending and set up. Cherry (Cheryl) was the female character of Oh Cherry Ripe, she disagreed with the way women were viewed in london during this time period. Sky is the man who needed compassion from the starts. Together the two characters create a bang that shake their universe. Aludy Coon threads another love story in ways that make it fun to read. The children were another important factor in all this. Francine and Felix were the wins, the children that made Cherry want to stay. Freddy is the simple character with some baggage and comical tendencies that reminded me of younger James, once he was introduced. Sadly Mary was not in the story, so I will have to imagine what she is like.
Oh Cherry Ripe by Claudy Conn Cheryl "Cherry" Elton is twenty-one and fancy free. She enjoys doing what men do only she lives in a world where her station frowns on such things as riding astride or racing a man through Hyde Park. Her step-mom jumped on the opportunity of excepting a marriage proposal for Cherry. Cherry was not excited and chose to run away. She ends up as the governess for a set of twins that she quickly falls in love with and vice versa. What she don’t know is that the very handsome older brother is the very man she is suppose to be engaged to.
Lord Skylar Westbrooke knew at twenty-eight years of age he needed to marry so the twins, Felix and Francine, had a woman in their life. He agreed to marry a young lady he had never med but heard she was beautiful. That was before he met Sarah Parker. The young woman took up residence in his mind the minute he met her in London and now she was at his country home as his younger step-siblings governess. He had yet to meet his fiance, as she has been ill, but more and more he wished that he had never made that arrangement.
I really enjoyed this regency and the fun and unique characteristics of everyone.. Cherry is such a joyous character and she is has been as naughty as the twins and seventeen year old Freddy so she truly understands them. And unlike their past governess’s, putting a frog in Cherry’s face is not going to send her running. **Sexual situations http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
I really enjoyed this historical! :) I normally am a paranormal only girl but occasionally I like to throw in a Highlander or Historical one and helps refresh me for my paranormals again :)
This is a great short story (about a 4 hour read or so?) but very well written and I liked how the story played out.
You've got Cherry who's stepmom basically betroths her to a man she's never met before. Cherry is very much against this as she wants to marry for love and even if she's getting past her marrying years she has money and doesn't want to be forced to commit. When her stepmom tells her this Cherry decides to run away from home. She's going to go her route no matter what her mom says.
Sky is bethrothed to a girl he's never met because he has 4 siblings and 2 of those siblings are still at home and have basically frightened off all their other governesses. Two of the other siblings are at school though the oldest one (16-17?) comes home because he's basically pushing his teachers buttons and is sent home in disgrace.
When Cherry runs away she stumbles across Sky and they share a heated kiss but then she disappears on him. He wants to know more about Cherry but doesn't find out anything about her till later on.
I don't want to say too much because it will spoil the rest of the story but if you're looking for a nice, steamy, romantic historical you should give Oh Cherry Ripe a try.
I really enjoy short stories like this because I get a break from my normal stories AND I can read it in one day... and sometimes that is really nice don't ya think? I have a serious issue with picking up 300 page novels and staying up ALL night to read them and then I'm exhausted the next day so I really do enjoy Novellas :) Give Claudy a chance, you won't be disappointed. :)
Book: Oh, Cherry Ripe Author: Claudy Conn Publication Date: 2/23/2013 Reviewed by: Tammy - http://booknooknuts.blogspot.com/ My Rating: 5 Stars REVIEW In this story we have Cherry Elton and Lord Skylar Westbrooke
Cherry is sort of a wild child for the times. Her stepmother is beside herself on how to curb Cherry. She decides to marry off Cherry as she is of age and needs to calm down. Cherry however wants no part of it and decides to take off in the middle of the night on her horse. While riding in the night she stumbles upon a man who immediately takes her in his arms. She doesn’t know what to think of this man but immediately sparks fly and attraction is there. See the thing is her Step-Mother never told her the name of the man she had setup for her to marry . So when Cherry runs into this man (Sky Westbrooke) she has no idea that this is the man. And of course at the time Sky has no idea that it is Cherry who was to be his bride. Sky takes her in as a Governess to his unruly siblings. After having met Cherry he doesn’t want to even think of marrying the woman he had agreed to marry.
The story plays out very nicely and in many parts you find yourself Laughing out Loud at Cherry’s escapades. She is a strong headed young woman. The attraction between Cherry and Sky plays out beautifully. They both want each other all the while thinking they were to be with someone else. What a comical, adorable Romance.I truly enjoyed it and I definetly would recommend it.
If you like Historical Romance and a little comedy pickup your copy of this book and get to reading !!

This was a quick and cute Historical Romance read. Some might find the plot a little cliche but I am willing to forgive a lot in the name of romance. As the description says, Cherry's stepmother has arranged a marriage to a man she hasn't met. This does not go down well because she has always dreamt of marrying for love. She decides her only escape is to run away to her nanny in the country.
Lord Westbrooke has been neglecting his siblings by spending too much time in London. He learns that his brothers and sister need him at home and have run off the last two governesses with their behavior.
You might be able to tell where this plot is going. Just in case you can't, I won't spoil it for you. Suffice it to say that even though the plot is a bit transparent, I really did enjoy this book. It was close to 4 stars but the ending was just a little abrupt for me. Even just a few more pages might have been enough to round things off for me.
I have to say that I also struggled with the title of the book. I hate to be negative but I found the title too cheesy but I am glad I picked this one up. I got it free on amazon.
Sometimes I am surprised when I read a really good free book offered for Nook. Often I enjoy some "brain candy" in the form of historical romance. Sadly this book didn't meet either of the previously stated criteria.
I noted some grammatical errors and really thought that the copy editor whomever he or she may have been... was really overpaid.
Also, did the author just throw these pages together in a hurry to get started on her next bestseller? At one point she apparently forgot that her heroine had taken the alias Sarah Parker in order to thwart marriage plans arranged by the step-mother of said heroine and referred to her by her actual nickname "Cherry." Unfortunately, none of the characters in the novel seemed to notice... only me.
Perhaps those issues can be chalked up to errors created when moving the book to an electronic format... but regardless who's to blame... it didn't make for a very enjoyable reading experience. I wanted to yell, "slow down, and take your time!" to someone... anyone...
I absolutely loved this book!!! The story was amazing and I found it impossible to put down, once I started it. Claudy is an amazing author and I know that you will enjoy experiencing the wonderful story that unfolds. She will pull you in with the first sentence and you will be unable to stop. She is a true talent and I recommend that you read this and her other books as well. You will definitely be grateful that you did.
What a fun time I had reading this enchanting period piece . The characters of Cherry (Cheryl) Elton and Skyler Westbrooke (Sky) two charming individuals that through many twists and turns find what both wanted in the end though did not really believe they would have and that is TRUE LOVE what a gift . Pull up a chair for a fun time .
You will fall in love with the whole family I promise
I loved this book, and couldn't put it down. I just wish it was longer. I fell in love with Cherry (Cheryl) as soon as I met her! I can totally relate to the need to fight for one's beliefs. The twins, absolutely adorable, they reminded me of my own siblings.
I am so glad I found Claudy Conn's books. I can't seem to get enough of her!
Claudy Conn’s books continue to amaze me. I am wow’d with every book I read of hers. I was taken back in time with this book. Claudy writes details that bring you to that time and place. I found this book to be well written. I couldn’t put this book down. I cant believe it was for free. The passion the main characters shared was very sensual. The secondary characters were very lovable and unforgettable.
Cherry, is a high spirited, witty and beautiful woman of this time. Not wanting to be married to someone she doesn’t know, someone she doesn’t love even though her step mother arranged her to be married. She decides to run away to prevent the marriage, she didn’t realize her life would be changing that very same night..
Sky, a handsome, honorable man decides to set up and agree to marry a woman he has never met. He wants a wife to help take care of his family. He has already given up on finding love let alone having a marriage full of love. He decides to go out with his friends to celebrate his last day as a free man. He doesn’t know he will meet his destiny that same night.
From that moment on this book was filled with laughs, smiles and a lot of sighing in contentment. I enjoyed this book. It was a breath of fresh air for me.
Story line: sweet and very romantic <3 Main Characters? Loved everything about them Did I love this book? I sure did. Will I read another book from this author? Without a doubt! And I plan to very soon. Sexual Heat rating: 5 Kisses
Just finished this book and I loved it. Claudy knows her stuff and It showed in this book. I loved the characters as you were introduced to them and I could picture them in my mind.
I know in this Era women were suppose to be elegant and soft spoken but Cherry Elton is not the normal lady of the times. She likes to rock the boat and does many times which has put her in a bad situation. Her mother has offered her hand in marriage to a man she has never met( Cherry will not be able to marry due to her behavior) and Cherry doesn't want to marry for anything but love. Cherry decides to run off in the middle of the night and runs into a man(foxed) whom delivers her to her nanny where she plans on hiding out for a while.
Skyler Westbrooke has just spent time drinking with his buddies celebrating his soon to be engagement to a women he has never met. He stumbles upon Cherry (although she gives him the of her mother Sarah)and kisses her and delivers her to her nanny. He can't stop thinking of her but has to go and offer for his hand. However when he comes to offer the women is ill and he has a chance to find Sarah (Cherry)again.
You need to read this book to find out how they interact with each other and what comes out of the kiss they shared that night.
Oh, Cherry Ripe is spicy historical read. I really enjoyed the characters, plot and the heat between the hero and heroine, but what I didn’t like and I know people will hate me for saying this, but it was the way the story ended. I was enjoying myself until all the sudden it just ended, poof gone, needless to say it left me speechless. I felt like I was somewhat left hanging because I wanted more. I hope one day Claudy will come back to this story and write a better ending. Not everything is correct to the time period in this story, but that is what I liked best about it because it gave you the historical feel along with times now, besides this is works of fiction and imagination, so things will not always be correct. Heck as long as I enjoy the story I can careless what the character’s names are.
Cherry, is very loveable character. She is headstrong at times as we all are when we don’t want to do something that someone wants to force on us. Sky, is strong character and devilishly handsome. He is just the right hero for Cherry. I really like how the plot was carries out, it goes to show sometimes we run from things that we shouldn’t.
You can find the free on amazon at least it is today, but I have no clue how long it will stay a freebie, so you better hop right on over if you want a spicy novella read.
I was given this book in return for an honest review. Normally I won't read any kind of historical book but I was, as I said, given this to review. I was actually really suprised, because I liked it. Cherry is a modern woman not in modern times. She has been told she is to marry a man she has never met and runs away to find her nanny. She wants to marry for love. On the way she meets Sky, a man on his way to meet the woman he needs to marry so she can care for his younger siblings. They have an instant attraction. I think you can guess where this is going. Not knowing they are supposed to marry each other is fantastic. This book has well developed characters and a good story line along with humor. I enjoyed it and you will to, even if you aren't a fan of historical romance, you should give it a chance.
This is the first book from Claudy Conn that I ever read, needless to say, I am now truly hooked. This is a great story with perfect comedic timing. The characters are well thought out and written very well. The background for the story is solid as well. Conn looks to the past to create characters that stand out during ominous times. Her heroines are strong, sassy and smart. The villains are perfect villains and the alpha males.. well watch out because they will make your blood boil!
Once I started reading this book, I simply could not put it down. Cherry is a delightful woman, who you come to care about very quickly. You want to know what kind of trouble she will get into next!
A very good book. A head strong young woman tired of all the restrictions society places on women. She keeps getting into trouble and in order to save her reputation, Cherry's stepmom arranges a marriage for Cherry. This sends Cherry on the run. She gets a job as a nanny to a set of twins. They are the young brother and sister to our Lord Sky. There's instant attraction and he means to make her his mistress. Cause guess what? He's engaged to be married. Guess who that is? Such a wonderful happy ending. I finished with a big smile.
Really good book. I would go crazy falling in love with someone and thinking he was promised to someone else. Just imagine finding out that she's the one that he is supposed to marry. I'm so glad that didn't happen to me.
Real nice fast read love story. Not at all what the cover and title may hint to. Liked Cherry (Cheryl) a lot very unconventional. Witty, funny easy loving heroine. Sky wasn't bad either.
Romantic and funny historical!!!! I just have to say that I am addicted to Claudy Conn's historicals. Her writing and attention to detail always make for an amazing read. Claudy is one author who never disappoints. Cherry is a very headstrong woman who has been told by her mother that she is promised to a gentleman whom she has never met. Cherry doesn't want anything to do with marrying this man and instead runs away. She bumps into Sky, a wealthy man in need of a wife to help raise his unruly younger siblings. Sky has agreed to to marry a woman he has never met, but when he runs into Cherry all he wants is to get to know her better. Sky hires Cherry to be his sibling's governess and and no longer wants to marry the woman he had agreed to. This book will have you laughing and I love the attraction between Cherry and Sky. If you like historicals with a little romance, and a little humor than this is your book.
Oh, Cherry Ripe by Claudy Conn is one of my favorite books by this author. It is fast paced and a quick read. It is a romance novel about two people who have no desire to get married except for love. One Lord Sky Westbrooke is in a marriage contract to marry a woman he has never even seen so that his nieces and nephews can have a "mother figure" to tame their wild ways. Cheryl Elton "Cherry" is running away from an arranged marriage because she is determined to marry for love. These two people are destined to have their paths cross. Predictably they fall in love, but unbeknown to them they are falling in love with the very thing they are trying to avoid. A delight to read and shorter than most of the Claudy Conn books that I have previously read.
I accidentally opened this book on my Kindle and decided to go ahead and read it. I remember description from when I got it for free in December, so I knew it would be great. Within the first 15 pages I read an awesome line. Favorite line I've read in a while: He would be a good husband, and if a pretty ankle turned his head, he would be discreet...
I didn't know how it would go, but I really enjoyed how the author made everything come together. I do believe that the ending was kind of fast, would have liked to have a little more story at the end. My only complaint.
Cherry Elton is a handful and very impulsive. Her stepmother does not know how to handle her, so she has arranged a marriage. Of course Cherry doesn't agree with that and runs away. She meets Sky (Lord Skylar Westbrooke) who is engaged to someone (and has never met) to help raise his siblings. He has no idea who Cherry is since she gives him another name. Unbeknownst to either of them, Cherry's stepmom has arranged Cherry to marry Sky. Cherry agrees to become the governess to Sky's siblings and what follows next is a lot of fun. I so enjoyed this book and if you are a Claudy Conn fan as I am, you'll enjoy this book too.
Great Story, great narration. What a fun read. I really liked the heroine Cherry, she was strong, funny, witty, didn't take any crap from anyone. I liked the story line and the all the secondary characters. The chemistry between Cherry and Sky was great, there was some great sex and lots and lots of dialogue. (I love dialogue in books).
This story was fairly short so it wasn't full of fillers, moved along very nicely and flowed very well.
As for the narration, She did a fantastic job. All the men sounded like men, and everyone had their own distinct voice. She read with feeling and emotion. Great job Valerie Gilbert. I would definitely listen to her again!
I can suspend a lot of belief reading historicals but this one just didn't work for me.
"Cherry" seemed like a very weird and suggestive nickname for the time. Heck the name Cheryl didn't work so well either. The way she spoke didn't fit the time period so well either. There was something about her perkiness that rubbed me wrong also and the coincidences, which are a staple in HR, were just a little too much for me.
Ok so I like the book right up until the last chapter. The end did not flow with the rest of the book. When Cherry comes clean to Sky he just says ok and the end...I felt like there could have been more to it, that the situation could have been played out a bit more. I felt the ending left the story hanging between the characters.
Yet another reason why I love Claudy Conns books. Hot steamy and excellent writing. Her characters are well written and very believable. You can tell by reading one of Claudy's books she puts a lot of thought into her characters. It's as if they are old friends of hers that become new friends of the readers. A must read!!
