This book is a surprising blend of silliness, self discovery, poetic description and social insights. Truly a wonderful story. I'm off to see if the third book is available.

This was a pleasant, easy book to read. I have not read the first book, but I did not feel that I was missing any vital information to enjoy this book.
We are following the further adventures Aurora who is struggling to live her dream as a travel writer. Somehow, she has fallen into doing trips and stories with her father as a travel companion!
She is sent to Chile by her new editor, who happens to be quite attractive, to win a contest for the cover of their magazine. After several delays, she arrives with her father in Patagonia behind schedule. They are met by Ben, one of the guides, and he hurries them along to join the rest of the group. He is a gaucho and has a wonderful way of training horses.
As the group progesses along the journey, Aurora has more mishaps that are quite funny, befriends a fellow traveler missing her family, and comes across a nefarious situation. Seems like the government and companies are hoping to "develop" parts of geologically unstable Patagonia are the private companies are putting muscle behind the offers of huge money to landowners.
Clues continue to mount and suspicion turns to certainty as the tour winds its way to the end.
Along the way, Aurora is forced to examine her feeling about her life, where she is heading and her guides are not only Ben & Alonso, but the horses that are accompaining the group.
I think if you are comfortable with your teen reading Twilight, then this is definitely ok for them to read. It reminded me of the Nancy Drew mysteries of old a bit. Clean fun!
