Howl

The word ‘Howl’ is a noun this is most defined as a long, loud, doleful cry uttered by an animal.
Within this book of poetry lives a tribe of women that have come out of the shadows fighting the depth of fire rising in their skin. It is for the long roar, the silent scream that victims release following traumatic events pertaining to sexual abuse and domestic violence.

“Howl” by Trisha North is a provocative look into the personal triumphs, fears, and encompassing emotions of women like her who have been shattered and devoured. She lays bare her scars to expose the true terror these types of violence create. It is about our pent-up rage exploding in the form of ink.

North hopes that this book will bring new revelations towards this type of injustice; casting a bright light throughout the world so it can help heal hearts and change minds about these unspoken traumas.

These poems are here so we can allow our bodies to mourn. To expand. To grow.

Know that among these ruins there is hope.

And we will rise above these ashes with our voices flourishing in unified echoes.
