I don't how Gordon always catches me off guard! Maybe because she keeps me up reading all night. The Rise is a masterful blend of heart racing action, fear, betrayal, and unyielding love.

The Montgomery sisters take us on a dark journey in book 3, more secrets to be discovered, and some one is tested to the brink (and way past) of insanity.

And through it all Alexa's Libra, Kayden, is steadfast in his support of Alexa.

But the Question is what happened to Jackson? Will Alexa learn about his secrets?

Ms. Gordon is a master. Extremely fast paced action, desperation, insanity, loss, and love, she will put you through the ringer in this one. You will feel exactly how she intends you to feel. Some people will die and you can't seen really care and others will make you cry. The series is unlike any other, pure perfection.

I really can't say much more because there are things that I do not want to spoil all the fun!

The third installment of the Alexa Montgomery series is amazing in that the author took the word "twist" to a whole new level. No way could anyone have seen that coming. The story continues right where book 2 left off but plunges into a dark abyss that will be difficult to climb out of. The book is action packed with never a dull moment. There is a lot of love in this story, as well as loss, pain, hope, fear, emotion, emotion, emotion, and the author did it all quite well.

Through the whole story, even still at the end, Alexa is conflicted with what and who she is. She knows her fate and never questions it, though she does wonder, why her? What makes her so special that she should be able to do what is being asked of her? Though I love Alexa and her badass self, her whole crappy attitude did get on my nerves a bit in this book (is it really necessary to be so freaking rude to EVERYBODY? I'm sure she has some niceness in her somewhere…I hope it does come out eventually. It would be a nice change for her…maybe at least to be nice to Kayden).

And Jackson, oh my true love, Jackson. What could I possibly say about you? I cannot possibly leave you out of my review of this book; however, I'll just leave it at that. I love you. Enough said.

On top of all of that, the books are incredibly well written. The author really has a way with words, painting almost whimsical pictures with her poetic-like words. I would definitely recommend this series as a must-read to everyone!

So I was just scanning through my recommendations on Amazon, minding my own business, when BAM! I see the link for the third book in the Alexa Montgomery series! This was my reaction......

And then after the shock wore off......

So as you can obviously see, I have been waiting for this book to be released for a long long long time! The Rise starts off right where Half Black Soul ends, and it doesn't disappoint. Like the last novel, The Rise is mainly switched between two different POVs, Alexa and her little sister Nelly. Although, it's mainly between these two characters there are also less common POVs, from the evil and diabolical King, Alexa's boyfriend, Kayden, and last but not least Jackson, Alexa's werewolf friend.

Alexa is badass, maybe even more so, than she was in the last two books. Sometimes she can be a little rude and has some certain anger management problems, but that's understandable because if you really think about it, she's still just a teenager, thrown into a world she still dosen't understand. Into a world where everyone thinks of her as their savior, a person who was going to defeat evil once and for all. I don't know about you, but if I was in her position, I would be feeling a little pressured as well. Another great thing I loved about Alexa's character, was that she had alot of conversations in her head. When she feels her monster rising within her, demanding that she solve things with violence, she beats her "monster" side into submission by acting as if it was another person. And the only way to pretend that it was a different person was to give that person a separate voice. That made for some very....interesting conversations, because she was essentially arguing with herself. Even though Alexa tends to be violent and harsh, she also has a softer side to her. Sun Warriors tend to be motivated and driven by either anger or love. After protecting her sister for years and years, a bond sprang between the them. There was nothing in the world that Alexa would not give up for her sister. Even her life.

Although Nelly is not strong in the physical sense, she is undefeatable in the mental sense. If you have read the past two books you would know by now that she is Half Searcher and Half Lamia. Her Lamia side makes her Searcher side even stronger. It was amazing to see how much Nelly grows throughout the first two books. In the start, Nelly resorted to sucking her thumb when she was scared, which annoyed me because it was so childish! But now, after all the things that she's seen, all the problems that she's faced and overcome, she grew into a character that I both respected and admired. However in the third book......let's just say that she's not completely herself.

I loved the style of writing in this book. Although there were a few spelling errors and grammatical errors, it was easy to overlook because i was just so immersed into the story! This was a very fast paced novel and I enjoyed every second of it. When I started reading The Rise, I thought that it was the last and final book in the series, but I was wrong. The conclusion of this series is called Redemption and is expected to be released sometime in December 2012! Can't wait! :D

I know now that I am what is called a Sun Warrior; the last of a race of supernatural Warriors that were bred and built for battle and killing. More importantly, I know that this power I have comes with a huge price. The more I kill, the more I want to kill.

Throw all your predictions for this book in the trash, get comfy in your couch with a large bag of potato chips and something to drink, because you’re not moving the next few hours. This book hooks you right from the start, just like the other books did. The amount of WTF?-, OMG!- and O_O-moments in this book are unbelievable. I'll tell you this (minor spoiler without giving any big things away): H.D. Gordon has done a brilliant job on this one. Even better than the previous books. No, I didn’t know that was possible either.
Alexa is as badass as ever and the inner conversations she has with her monster are comical. She and Kayden have a few Aaaahw-moments that’ll melt your heart.

I stared down at my hand. Took a deep breath, opened my mouth. I had no idea what was going to come out. “I-I… belong to you,” I whispered, and the words were a slow thought, processed as they were spoken. They held no question.
Kayden’s hand came up and tilted my chin back. I stared at my lion; his golden skin, his carved muscles, the strong line of his jaw, and those eyes. A tear escaped my own. It rolled down my cheek, warm and wet.
Kayden’s rough but gentle thumb brushed it away. “Yes, my Warrior,” he said, “and I you.”

Nelly… Geesh, Nelly. I was literally screaming at my laptop to a fictional character most of the time. She had some major issues in this book. Jackson was still an stupid ass, but the further the book continued the less he was a stupid ass. And then came another OMG WTF WHAT? O.O-moment near the end. And King William is a first class asshole, for sure. The new characters that are introduced are as awesome as the old ones. Seriously. (Some are new supernatural creatures!)
And there is a surprise at the end I didn’t expect, but liked very much. (I also hated it, because now it is even more difficult to wait for the rest of Alexa’s awesome journey.)

If they wanted a war, then that was exactly what they would get.

That’s all I have to say about it. (Enough, no?) What can I say more of this novel? Other than ‘JUST READ IT ALREADY!’, nothing. So adios and enjoy reading the book! I’ll leave you with one last quote from the book.

In the end, we all die. This is not of question. Inarguable. No mystery lay here. The mystery dwells in two questions: How long will our story be, and of what will the pages read?

Was much much darker than the previous installments & I missed all the snark & humor, writing was oh-so intense & grabbed hold of me. I couldn't think of anything except for this world. It took me on an incredible ride.

I enjoyed the changing pov & loved being with Alexa. I struggled, immensely, with the horror that accompanied Nellys pov. Kayden is, ahhhhhh, I've got no words. I adore Kayden & am hoping for some more Kayden/Alexa one on one time *wink wink* in Redemption.

I am excited & apprehensive for the release of Redemption later this year.

Her writing is so good, I don't know if I'll survive it.

The Prophecy says one will come along who will raise an army and free the enslaved. Alexa Montgomery was to be the one.

Spoiler Alert: The Rise: The Alexa Montgomery Saga, Book III

Alexa's mother admonished her for leaving Nelly behind when she came to rescue her from prison. It was Nelly they were really after and I had left her alone at Two Rivers.

The only purpose I had in life was to protect her. I am a Sun Warrior, one of a kind. My monster within loves to kill - actually revels in it and I would do whatever it takes to keep Nelly safe.

Nelly is one of a kind too, a vampire and a searcher She is able to search others thoughts. But the real reason they would kill her, she is half Lamia. She is considered a danger to everyone.

The King was responsible for the fate of the villagers in Two Rivers. He kept them drugged and ignorant of the fate awaiting them. He was using them as a blood factory. The depth of the King's evil was black and ugly. The King had arranged for my mother to be imprisoned and I wanted him dead.

Everyone thought the Prophecy meant me, but I knew it meant Nelly. The Prophecy said Nelly would save the King's captives, but die in the process.

Nelly was called in to see the King. She knew she was in trouble. He is a highly skilled searcher. She is barely able to control herself. She couldn't give away she was as powerful a searcher as he was. That would mean her death.

Nelly was surprised when he asked about Alexa. Was this about her? He told her Alexa's crimes were treason and murder. Before Nelly could stop herself, she spit on his shoes. She felt such a red-hot anger, she lost all control. Alexa was not a traitor.

As the King grabbed Nelly's hand to search her, she turned her powers loose. The King was thrown from her. As she searched him she saw a vision. She saw him dead. Alexa's sword had slain him and Alexa lay dead beside him.

She screamed and her power threw everyone against the walls.

The Queen finally got her attention and said to put the King asleep, like the others, or they wouldn't be able to escape.

Alexa and Kayden were racing to get back to Nelly. They had to stop for gas and when they got out to pump it, Kayden pulled something from his pocket and told Alexa Happy Birthday. It was the most beautiful ring Alexa had ever seen.

" "I - I belong to you." Alexa said to him, her beautiful lion. Even her monster was quiet."

Nelly gathered, with her mind, the few she could take, as they made their escape. When the Lamia attacked and killed Daniel, she lost all control. Her rage could not be held back. It flowed out to the Lamia, killing them all and she absorbed their energy.

The van for their escape was near, but Nelly directed them away from it. Even though it was night, she saw the sun and went towards it. Something was calling to her, but she didn't know what.

"Stop" Alexa yelled at Kayden, but she didn't know why.

She was being drawn to Nelly. They had a bond that demanded they find each other.

When she saw them standing in the road, she realized Tommy was holding Nelly. Alexa knew what she needed, so she proceeded to cut her arm and offered it to the unconscious Nelly. With no warning Nelly attacked her.

Alexa didn't think things could get any worse. But she was so very wrong.

5 STARS - Would Buy It For Them (lol)

H. D. Gordon is creating new covers as I write this review. I already liked them, now I think they are even more amazing, bringing together the entire series.

I raced through the pages, beginning to end. Alexa's story kept getting better and better. I was waiting, holding my breath, for what would happen next.

It was a punch to the gut when Nelly killed and fled. Not sweet Nelly. I thought she was going to be the heroine.

Alexa had been pushed to her limits. She was distraught. She would do whatever it took to save Nelly but she was paralyzed by her loss. Her love was selfless.

Amazing descriptions of the supernatural characters and their environment. I love this series so much, I cannot find the words to describe how I feel as I read along.

I raced through the last pages, not realizing I was coming to the end. What's going to happen. No, it can't be. WT.

I sat there with my mouth hanging open, thinking, now what. My heart fell. Then, I thought, okay. There's one more book and I have to go get it. NOW!!!

I received this book in return for an honest and unbiased review.

H.D. Gordon has done it again; she has written another hit in the Alexa Montgomery series. Book three is darker than the other two books and filled with one emotional roller coaster ride after another.

Initially, Alexa has rescued her mother and and is driving back to Two Rivers with Kayden by her side. Mommie Dearest is on a rampage about Alexa leaving Nelly alone. So, they are rushing back to try to protect her. However, little do they know; but, Nelly has been captured by evil King William. He wants to toy with her believing himself to be so superior and more powerful than anoyone around. Boy, does Nelly have a surprise not only for him; but, her family and friends as well. Soon, she is on the run with Queen Camillia, Bethany and several others from the slave camp. When they are attacked by Lamia, Nelly saves everyone all but Daniel. However, there is a hefty price to pay for her bravery.

Soon, Alexa and Nelly are rejoined. Unfortunately,Nelly is attacks Alexa and almost drains her dry. She is knocked out and the group decides it is best if they head for safety before King William's men meet up with them. When they stop for gasn and ALexa and Kayden attempt to take a moment for themselves, they return to the van to discover Nelly missing and her mother and Bethany dead. Alexa is at a loss. She desperately looks for her sister. Unable to locate her the group convinces her to move on to safety once they have buried their dead.

Alexa and company end up in the Outlands, an area that is unaligned to any power or kingdom. The inhabitants agree to live peaceably among each other. It is here that Alexa will seek an answer to how to locate and cure her sister; but, at what price? It does not matter because Alexa knows she is willing to pay and do anything to protect her sister. She and Kayden will have their moment of love only to have it snatched away prematurely. There will be heartbreak after heartbreak, death, betrayals and yes, hope.

This was a another really good read; but, I did have two criticisms. There were minor editing issues that seem to plague self-published books; but, my biggest concern was the story being told from four different points of views. Why is this a issue? If this is the Alexa Montgomery Saga, it should be told solely from her viewpoint. When other characters take the lead, the main character loses some power/momentum. I've noticed that the last two books have been featuring more of other character's POV's. I hope that Ms. Gordon returns to her original concept and tell the story from Alexa's view. Give yourself a treat and pick up this series. It is definitely a page turner.

Originally posted on my blog Urban Fantasy Review

I received a copy of The Rise from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review, that being said onto the review. WOW...just wow, this is the third installment in the Alexa Montgomery series and it is action packed from cover to cover. The Rise picks up immediately after Hafl Black Soul leaves off, Alexa and Kayden have just rescued her mother and they are heading back to Two Rivers to save Nelly. Nelly doesn't need saving and is far stronger than anyone suspected. Nelly escapes Two Rivers with some friends in tow and proves strong enough to fight off the King and some Lamias along the way, but at a huge personal cost.

This book tells the story from several different points of view, usually jumping between Alexa and Nelly and towards the end it also features the King and Kayden as well. I love Alexa, she is so conflicted throughout the book she has a running dialogue with herself and what she calls her monster it makes for some lighter moments in what is a very dark book. Her devotion to her sister and her fearlessness make her so unique especially in YA fiction. The book did have some happy parts to it, without giving too much away all I will say is...Go Team Kayden!

Nelly, wow didn't see that coming! The character development in this book for Nelly is huge. With Alexa off rescuing their mother Nelly is left to fend for herself for the first time ever, she has always relied on Alexa's strength she never had to discover her own. She discovers what she can do in this book in a huge way and at a terrible cost. While she doesn't share Alexa's physical strength or fighting skill she has definitely become her equal and a whole lot darker.

The plot in this book is very fast paced and it has everything you want; prophecies, deaths, impending war and a whole lot of plot twists. HD has such a unique way of writing she makes you feel every emotion the character has and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book, I couldn't put it down and I was up reading to the wee hours of the morning. I highly recommend this series to any UF fan and I am counting down the days until Redemption is released....so hurry up already :).

Wow...just wow! So far "The Rise" is my favorite book of the Alexa Montgomery series. With every installment H.D. Gordon grows so much more as an author and it shows through the characters she creates, the poetry she incorporates throughout her work, and the emotion she inflicts on her audience. And let me tell you, "The Rise" was a roller coaster ride of emotion. FINALLY we get to witness Alexa's vulnerable side and it endured her to me on a whole new level.

The Rise begins with a frantic Alexa, her Libra, Kayden, and her newly freed mother rushing back to Two Rivers to retrieve Nelly. In Half Black Soul we learn that it is Nelly, not Alexa, who is the true prophesized savior and without the protection of her sister, the Sun Warrior, she may be in danger... which she most definitely is! However, Nelly ends up posing a bigger threat than King William and any of his Lamia-blood siphoning warriors. Under attack, Nelly ends up showing the side she has kept hidden her entire life and unleashing powers she has never used before. In doing so, she gains followers that would gladly give their lives for her; in turn, the darkness she's burrowed so deep within rises and takes her over completely.

Can Alexa save her sister from herself even if it means forfeiting her own life in the process? What? Did you expect me to answer that? Grab a copy of "The Rise" for yourself and find out! I promise, you will not be dissapointed. And, as an added bonus, Alexa and Kayden get closer than ever before ;) That little bit of information is enough in itself to pick this book up!

The first two books in this series were amazing so I had very high hopes for this one and it did not disappoint. The book starts exactly where Half Black soul ended; with Alexa, her recently rescued mother and Kayden racing back to two rivers to rescue Nelly. H.D. Gordon is incredible at writing gripping, page turning books and The Rise is no exception, there are many unexpected twists that take the story in an entirely different direction to what you expect. Secrets that people have been hiding start to come out during this book and several new POV’s are used that give you a deeper look into some of the characters.

Alexa and Kaydens relationship develops a lot in ways I really enjoyed; their chemistry is portrayed very well and is 100% believable. I’m not going to mention anything about Jackson in this review, you will just have to read the book to find out what happens with him :P By far one of my favourite parts of this book was Nelly, in the previous books she was just Alexa’s weak, gentle sister that always needed protecting but in this book you get to see an entirely different and unexpected side of her.

I didn’t think this series could get any better than it already was but this book has made it even better. This is a book that I would not only recommend you read but I would almost demand that you read it, it’s just too good to miss. I can’t wait to see what the author is going to do with the final book in the series.

I just finished The Rise & to say I enjoyed it is such an understatement - I absolutely LOVED it! I was gripped from the start & once again, HD did not disappoint. It was a roller-coaster of emotions - it's like I felt what the characters were feeling - the loss, heartache, desperation, love... All of it! It's one of those books where you know you're going to mull it over for days to come.

In this book which is the third installment of the Alexa Montgomery saga, the story takes a darker turn than either of the other two books. We see a side of Nelly that I never imagined & there were times when I wondered if there would ever be light at the end of that dark tunnel. Alexa grew on me even more - she is such a complex charachter & of course, I practically fell in love with Kayden again!

There is just one thing I feel is missing... & that is the final book in this amazing series! I absolutely cannot wait to read how their journey will end!

I don't know about anyone else, but this right here is the best book of the series. I know, everyone says that after reading the next installment of a series they've grown to love. And don't get me wrong, Half Black Soul was absolutely great. But I'm taking back my amazing and putting it right effin here!

So much has happened thus far in the saga that there's no way to summarize without dropping spoilers. And if you haven't read any of them so far, turn around and go back to number one, Blood Warrior, because this one picks off where two ended. This is not a series you can just hop in the middle and enjoy the ride.

HD has invested so much time and emotion into her characters it's unreal. The reader can feel every breath, taste every tear, and smell all the blood that is shed. There's love, heartache, betrayal, death, and hope seeping through each page and frankly my world is spinning.

The only downfall? Waiting sucks.

It is strange. Not all authors have the balls to do what this author did. What is nice about it is that it’s totally unexpected. You just don’t see it coming. There is a lot of information given in this story that helps put everything in perspective.

Free book= honest review.

WTF just happened? It was kind of slow to get started. I was a little lost until I finally managed to re-submerge myself in the Alexa Montgomery world. But once I found my footing all of these things just started to happen... and than it was over. Damn you H.D. Gordon. You hook me every time.

Alexa, Kayden and Diana are driving back to Two Rivers in a race to save Nelly. Except maybe there isn't anything to save this time.

This book took a dark turn... but who doesn't love that? Alexa is facing some of her hardest choices in book 3 from the series. Who does she save and who does she love?

Some pretty hot scenes and well... some pretty devastating ones too. How does this author manage to turn me so inside out every time I pick up one of her books??

How Long till the next one?

This book was pretty good. Incredibly morbid (seriously, even the humor and the sex is morbid), but the book just seemed better than the last two.

Nelly was finally interesting, which is nice. Not sure what to expect from her in the next book.

And speaking of the next book, I'm pretty sure Alexa is going to die. 90%. But I really hope not. I love Alexa and Kayden together. Adorable is not a good adjective to describe them, but they are just so RIGHT together. Damn I really hope none of them die...

This is the last book I finish in 2014. Wish I chose something else to end the year with. The main character is kickass, but this is series is just a little too depressing.

This series just keeps getting better! The Rise picks up immediately after the ending of Half Black Soul, and it doesn't hold back. It would seem that things may have been looking up after Alexa's successful rescue mission, but that is not the case at all. Alexa and Kayden are racing back to Two Rivers to save her sister, but they may too late. The darkness within Nelly has taken over, and she is not the sweet, too caring girl that Alexa left behind. Nelly is dangerous. She's given into that powerful force within her and no one is safe. If you think this is one of those books where the power of love protects Alexa and their mother from Nelly, you're wrong. Not only must Alexa keep herself alive, she has to save everyone from the one person she's sworn to protect above all, and save her sister from herself. Not an easy task.

Once again, The Rise mainly alternates between Alexa and Nelly. And as always, Alexa's only concern is her sister, and keeping her secret. Nelly, on the other hand, is struggling with her inner monster. Sadly, the monster wins, but it definitely made for some intense reading. In the previous books we're only told how terrible the Lamia are, and witness a few of their attacks. Now, we get into the head of one, and it is a dark and disturbing place. Through all of this, Alexa is still determined to protect Nelly, no matter who she has to push aside along the way. We also get three more minor POVs: King William, Jackson and Kayden. The only one of these that I felt really added to the story was King William, since he is our main villain. He is a bad, bad man.

In addition to the intense and emotional plot, there continues to be some great world building. Another hidden community is introduced in The Rise, but it's not just for vampires and werewolves. There are pixies, fae, trolls, leprechauns...everything! I really liked seeing that vampires and shifters aren't the only paranormal beings in the world. Seers are also introduced, and Alexa has a very interesting meeting with one of them. I don't want to say too much about it, because it's a huge turning point in the book. Let's just say it didn't turn out how I was expecting at all, and one character really redeemed themself in my eyes.

I love this series and The Rise really takes it to another level. Alexa may have had several set backs in her journey to lead the supposedly revolution, but she has made progress. These middle books have certainly not been filler. King William needs to be stopped, and Alexa may finally have everything she needs to do so. Luckily, I have the final book ready so I can't find out!

This series definitely grew on me and this instalment was action packed with so many threads all interwoven throughout the story. Alexa finds it hard to let her defences down and let people in except for Nelly. Despite being a killer, Nelly has always accepted her for who she is and loved her wholeheartedly. Alexa has spent her whole life protecting Nelly and knows no other way. No matter what choices Alexa makes, it never turns out the way she hoped. By trying to save her mother, Nelly is lost to her and she does not know how to get her back. Nelly is overwhelmed as her power becomes stronger and it is getting harder to keep it on a tight leash. Desperate to save her sister and free her friends, she will stop at nothing to achieve it even if it means taking on the King all by herself. I enjoyed the different chapters being told from multiple POV and found it interesting to know what was going on in their minds. Great support characters and I loved Soraya as she seemed like such an old soul in a little girl's body. Kayden and Jack were never really in a love triangle though it seemed that way initially as Alexa loved them both but differently. She loved Kayden in a soul deep, having trouble breathing without him kind of way and she loved Jack because he was her beginning and his friendship was the only thing that got her through her turbulent life before coming to Two Rivers. Jackson's involvement while a bit predictable was disappointing yet he redeemed himself in the end. Alexa and Nelly share a special bond, not by blood but by something indefinable as family (the people who we choose to become a part of us)and she would give up her life to save her if that is what it takes and it just might. A war is coming but who will be left to fight and which sister will be left standing? The ending was a pleasant surprise and I did not see it coming. I am looking forward to the last book to see if the prophecy does come to pass.

There are spoilers.

The Rise was a good book, we got to read more about the characters and got to know them better. I liked this book better than the second. In this one we read from Alexa's, Nelly's, and King William's POV.

I guess I liked that it wasn't just Nelly and Alexa this time. I knew Nelly was going to go crazy or cause problems, she is strong but always ends up killing someone. And of course since she's ' The One' The Savior, no one is going to say anything, they're just going to be like 'it's okay girl', you and your evil friends just killed more than 300 people and your mom, but it's okay, no biggie. sheesh..because you're the savior. sheesh.

Any who, I liked reading about Alexa and Kayden :) even though she was cheating on Jackson the whole time, she knew what she was doing. And what, she thought Jackson was going to be okay with it? but I did wish there was more of A and K. I didn't like the cheating or that they've only known each other for just a month and they're already doing the "nasty"......lol... she's like ' you're my Libra so I feel like I've known you all my life even though I don't know much about you' ..sheesh.. if she wasn't in a relationship she just was in it cus she felt sorry for the guy, and if she wasn't always drooling all over Kayden I would've like the book better. I also didn't like how everyone was okay with Alexa sacrificing herself for Nelly, like Kayden said ' like if she didn't even matter' great friends Alexa has. And basically everyone has lied to her but she is fine with it, I'll stay mad as long as I can, damn it..

Overall it was a great book, the characters were slowly becoming real to me, certain characters I didn't care for, they get in the way of the MC and make her risk her life,, maybe Alexa is a better person than I am, I wouldn't forgive so easily..

I received this book in return for an honest reveiw, which is no problem because...my first thought is WOW! This third book in the Alexa Montgomery series follows along right behind book two. It is fast paced and full of unexpected twsits. Just remember, prophecies are not always what they seem! The secrets and surprises keep coming, along with the pain and the love. The different POVs allowed for more diversity, which I truly enjoyed.
Like a stone in a pond sends ripples out in many directions, so do Alexa's decisions. Ramifications are being felt in numerous places and H.D. Gordon does a great job of letting us and the characters in on them and keeping us connected to their feelings. I found Alexa's on-going conversation with her monster in her head had me cracking up. She is totally conflicted and this mechanism was a great way of illustrating it.
Kayden is amazing through everything and the extreme steps he takes in support of Alexa are incredible. Yes, I am totally Team Kayden and have been from the start. The connection between Kayden and Alexa is undeniable and can clearly be felt.
Jackson....such a twist while going to extreme lengths to prove his love to Alexa. How will she handle the truth about him?
Nelly was a huge surprise here. While I expected something big, she surpassed even my imagination. I expected her to be powerful and the author did a great job showing her struggle to keep her monster in check.
Thanks H.D. Gordon for giving us such an incredible series to enjoy! Redemptionwill be the first book I read on my new Kindle Fire and can't wait! The War is HERE and all bets are off as to who will make it to the final battle and who will be left stading at the end.

I'm at a loss for words. I literally just finished this and my mind is still trying to wrap around what just happened. The Rise is definitely the best book in the series, so far. Although from what I hear I might be retracting that statement after reading the final book. So much happened in this book that I absolutely loved. In the second book we were introduced to Nelly's POV, which I have to admit I wasn't too fond of because I was used to just seeing things from Alexa's POV, and she is just so incredibly bad ass lol Nelly is still such a quiet, gentle character in book two that I didn't want to read her parts, I was more interested in Alexa's. Well that sweet Nelly sure took an unexpected turn in this book. Wow! I LOVED that both these girls are becoming such strong, lethal characters. Nelly went a little wild, but that's okay because I loved it! The hotness between Alexa and Kayden was, as usual, yummy. My opinion of Jackson was drastically altered, which is what I'm having the hardest time accepting. And things are just getting so insane that I can't even imagine how this is all going to play out. Definitely H.D. at her best! Loved it!

I am not sure I can find the words to describe this installment of the Alexa Montgomery Saga. It is action packed, had me saying, "WHAT?!?!?!", was a bit romantic and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. I have to admit that a couple of things that happened just down right floored me. I think this is, by far, the best book in this series. I loved watching Nelly as she, well I can not tell you what, but it was a crazy ride and seeing inside her head was..... whooooah!

If you have not read the first two books in this series, I highly recommend you give them a read. You could read this book without having read them because of the way the first chapter was written, but it was so much better because I had the background information. I can not begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to the final installment of this book when it is released, This series is simply great! I would not recommend this book for younger teens.

I am in the mist of my credential program with deadlines looming over me and I needed a few hours of escape time. I am glad I choose to read this installment of the saga. It was really good at building the climax. Now, I feel like I am standing on the edge of the cliff waiting for someone to tell me when to jump and read the next book. It is darker than the other books in the series but ended with a light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to read the final book in this series. I want to know how it all ends. I desperatly want to know what twists and turns await for the duel love story: the love between sisters and the love between the Warrior and her Libra. Ooh la la, I wanna know now. Now, I SAY!
