Robin Kaye was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge next door to her Sicilian grandparents. Living with an extended family that’s a cross between Gilligan’s Island and The Sopranos, minus the desert isle and illegal activities, explains both her comedic timing and the cast of quirky characters in her books.
She’s lived in half a dozen states from Idaho to Florida, but the romance of Brooklyn has never left her heart. She currently resides in Maryland with her husband, three children, two dogs, and a three-legged cat with attitude.
What a fun book and the hero Fisher was a total package, he could cook, clean, is a doctor and caring as hell and falls like a ton of bricks for Jessie.
Jessica is a sports reporter for the Times, having the time of her life, she has a job she loves and just bought a place when she gets the pink slip and on a dare from her best friend Andrew goes to Boise and starts writing a book. She thinks writing a romance novel will be a breeze which is kind of hilarious, she doesn't believe in romantic love but buys many romance books to read. There she thinks she has acquired a stalker Fisher because she runs into him everywhere and even though he is good looking as hell, her cynic meter tells her there is something wrong with him, she thinks he is a bum and when she sees his immaculate house jumps to the conclusion that he lives with his mother, she is wrong on all counts.
Fisher is kind of morose lately and he can't figure out why, he has everything he wants but his twin Hunter is kind of no longer single and has Toni and he has been off women lately but that changes as soon as he sees Jessie. And then his interfering little sister puts herself in between neatly setting Jessie and Fisher up which kind of suits Fisher.
Jessie is damn athletic which I love, but her height and built was something that has brought her a lot of grief especially in high school when she was a victim of a cruel dare and that made her build huge fences around herself. I loved the romance especially seeing how hard Fisher fell for her after telling her he would be research for her book, I loved his crazy family and how they had a habit of walking into his house. Jessie was so damn vulnerable in some ways while strong in other ways, her feelings for Fisher made no sense to her, she cried when she was with him and it took Andrew and for her to read her book which was not fiction to kind of clear things up, in between she ends up hurting Fisher.
My enjoyment of this book was amplified by the fact that I have read other books by this author and that I loved meeting previous characters like Ben and Gina and even Trapper the elder brother who is a judge and has seventy-two hour flings, even Andrew caught my fancy. All in all this is a great contemporary romance.
I’m going to start this review by being blunt, if you are a Robin Kaye fan and you are up to date with her books, read this review and then RUN to your favorite online bookseller and download this one immediately. If you are not up to date, get up to date…then repeat the steps above. If you have not read Robin Kaye, what are you waiting for? Go immediately to your online bookseller and download everything she’s written. Start with Romeo, Romeo and progress from there but I’ll warn you she’s addicting and her latest, Call Me Wild is one smart, funny, sexy and fantastic book! (Note from DiDi – you could read Call Me Wild as a stand alone and then you will want to buy the entire series)
I love it when a writer whom I’ve read frequently can continue to surprise me with fresh plot lines and characters that so real you want to meet them and have dinner. Robin manages that over and over again and it’s why I never tire of reading her work.
Call Me Wild is the story of Fisher Kincaid (who we’ve met in Robin’s previous two books) and Jessie James (don’t you love her name?). Fisher is a doctor, devoted brother and son, outdoors man, and honestly an all around good guy…oh yes, and a domestic god. Most of Robin’s heroes are domestic gods which I totally love. Jessie is a sports reporter recently laid off. She’s staying in Boise, Idaho in her best friend’s house while she writes a romance novel and looks for work in her field. Jessie is almost six feet tall and very athletic. Fisher is a goner the minute he lays eyes on her. Jessie who doesn’t believe in romantic love sees him as a pest and refuses to have anything to do with him.
Fisher’s pursuit of Jessie is humorous and fun. Jessie makes friends with Fisher’s sister, Karma; although she’s unaware they are related. So, while Fisher is trying to woo Jessie, Jessie is complaining to Karma about the “bum” who keeps following her around town. Needless to say Jessie makes some big and not true assumptions about Fisher and Fisher spends a lot of time trying to figure Jessie out. Thanks to Karma, these two wind up together for a weekend but an accident interrupts their plans and really gets their story going.
Fisher and Jessie are a great couple, they complement each other well. Despite that, Jessie was hurt in the past and although she thinks she’s overcome it, she hasn’t. Fisher finds himself dealing with feelings he hasn’t felt before and it flips him out. As much as they try and work things through themselves, it takes Jessie’s best friend, Andrew, and all of Fisher’s family to help them get their act together. Now, you might think that sounds strange but let me tell you some of my favorite scenes in this book involve Fisher’s loud and overbearing family.
Once again Robin has transported us into the lives of an interesting couple and a cast of supporting characters you can’t help but love. On top of that she gives us smoking hot love scenes, funny and entertaining dialogue, and a hero who lives to clean and do laundry. Seriously, what more do you want? I started this book and read it cover to cover. I could not put it down, you’ve been warned! “Karma has left the building.”
DiDi's Two-cents: I was delighted to receive this ARC over the weekend (4/23/12).
Reading a Robin Kaye book is like visiting old friends and family, then watching each couple fall in love. I can't get enough of Ms. Kaye's wonderful, close knit, realistic characters. Her ability to build emotions and draw me into her books, so that I feel like I am right there in the scene with the characters, and the fact she can make me laugh until I cry never ceases to amaze me.
Robyn Kaye first captured my attention with Romeo,Romeo and with each book in the series she has continued to earn my adoration. I love her style of writing and I absolutely love this series. Each book just keeps getting better and I don't want to see this series end. I cannot wait for Trapper's and Karma's books and I hope that there will be more after that.(*hinthint*/*winkwink*) I have been waiting for Fisher's book since reading about him in Yours For The Taking and I was not disappointed. It was everything I hoped for and so much more. Wow...what a great book. Call Me Wild was such fun to read and just a great way to spend my day. Oh, how I loved this story. Fisher and Jessie were great together and I wanted them to get the HEA that they so deserved. I loved seeing Hunter, Toni, Ben, Gina, Kate and Grampa Joe. I can't wait to see what Robyn has in mind for Trapper and Karma~Trapper has always been my favorite!!! I hope that Andrew may also get his own book!!(hinthint) I was pulled into the story immediately by such entertaining characters and places that made me wish were real. I had trouble putting this book down~I love getting lost in a book. Robyn Kaye created a world with this series that I didn't want to leave and that I love returning to with each new book. Call Me Wild was a great addition and makes me want to reread the series while also looking forward to the next book. This is definitely in my keeper pile and is a definite reread!! BEST OF THE BEST rating!!!
"She never noticed what any of her other lovers smelled like. She never noticed how their voice deepened and pupils dilated, changing colors when they got excited, or even what color their eyes were. Hell, she couldn't even remember how they kissed, or what they looked like when they came. But with Fisher, she knew, she watched, she noticed, and she felt." *sigh*

Review to come shortly. I think my enjoyment of this novel might've been shortchanged by the fact I'm reading it as a standalone versus not reading the first in this series. Still, it's very possible that this could be read as a single story and enjoyed for that. For me, I'll admit I liked parts of this romance, while others left me struggling through it a little more than I would've liked. I'll probably put it at 3 stars in my final rating, but need to meditate on my thoughts about it a little longer.
Fisher Kincaid is an orthopedic doctor in Biose, Idaho. Since his twin brother got married, Fisher was never seen with a woman. Aside from his busy work schedule at the hospital, he seemed to be uninterested in any woman. But since the first time he saw Jessica James, he knew that he liked her. . Jessica a.k.a Jessie is a sports reporter. With her "stocky" posture, she always feels safe among athletes. But when she was fired from her job, Jessie began trying to swerve by writing romance novels. But the problem is that she doesn't believe in romance-thing. For her there is no love, only lust and sex. Shortly, she made an agreement with Fisher that he would be her partner in conducting research on romance. As the research progressed, the agreement is no longer valid when Fisher realized he was in love with Jessie. When he expressed his feelings to Jessie, she tried to make sure that's a mistake. . What I love about this novel is humors almost always coloring each page. Fisher is a a total package, giving a new meaning to the habits of men who are experts in matters of cleaning house and cooking. And of course the brotherhood in this book is very clearly. Again, the Kincaid family succeeded in making me love but unwilling to have a family like this, they had a bad habit of rush invading into his house. Where's my privacy?
Well… sejak membaca serial Domestic God yang sudah pernah saya review sebelumnya, saya jadi fans-nyaRobin Kaye. Not mention that she continue this series with Wild Thing series.
Jessica a.k.a Jessie adalah seorang reporter olahraga.
I just loved this book. I just found everything about this book to be perfect. I have never read a Robin Kaye book before but you can bet I am going to backtrack and pick some up (especially the first in this series “Wild Thing”).
Kaye has written the perfect man in Fisher. He is a smart, sexy, strong, sympathetic, understanding man (and he cooks and cleans). I found myself falling for his character almost immediately. He feels a little out of sorts since his twin brother got married and no longer has the connection they had. I loved the back stories of the siblings, not only the twin brother but the older brother and baby sister. And Gramps just steals the scenes he is in.
Jessie is a complex character and so different than so many female characters in the genre which was refreshing. Most women want to fall in love in these stories and have to convince/trick the man into realizing he loves her but not Jessie. She does not believe in love, at least not romantic love. She loves her family, her best friend and her job but not men. She was brought up a tomboy and her body fits the mold being tall and fit so she doesn’t understand how any man could find her anything but one of the guys. She believes couples go from lust to complacency and she does not want that. However what she does want is to write a romance novel. How do you do that without knowing romance? Which is where Fisher comes in.
If you enjoy the contemporary romance genre then this book is a can’t miss. Honestly, I am shocked how much I enjoyed this book. I usually ended up thinking I would have changed something in the story here or there when I read a book but not this one. I wouldn’t change a word of it. And I can’t wait to read the story of Fisher’s twin, Hunter from book one, and hopefully the stories of Trapper and Karma (their siblings). Do I see a Karma/Andrew story coming? Hint Hint!!
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Call me wild! Well call me a FAN! Loved this book by Robin Kaye.
Fisher is an Orthopedic surgeon, who is a health nut, Loves to cook, considers cleaning therapeutic, a little OCD and knits. Enough said!
Our girl Jessie is a sports writer, who has just been laid off; She moves to Boise, Idaho and decides to try her hand at writing a romance novel for some fast cash, how hard can it be right? She is a writer after all. Oh and did I mention she doesn’t believe in romance or Love? Yep!
Jessie’s first impressions of Fisher is that he is a ‘stalker’; Jessie makes some pretty big assumptions about Fisher, which unravel hilariously as the story moves along.
Fisher and Jessie decide to date in the name of research….ofcos. Fisher’s courtship of Jessie is a laugh a minute, throw in smoking hot, passion filled love scenes and what we have is a winner on our hands.
This is my First Robin Kaye book, and I’m hooked big time. The characters were well developed, quirky and fun, the writing was pure genius. I can’t wait to read Karma and Trapper stories next.
If you are looking for a great contemporary Romantic Comedy to unwind with – ‘Call me Wild’ is IT!
Didn't thoroughly get into this story as much as the previous Robin Kaye book I'd read. Jessie's issues & personality just didn't really resonate with me at all. Did NOT like that Jessie's personal issues were not really resolved, though they were discussed between Jessie & her bestie. She never even told her boyfriend what her issue was, and it was never dealt with in a good way. I did NOT like how these issues weren't dealt with, and yet the book was wrapped up with an "oh, we just cannot live WITHOUT each other, we MUST be together" but the real underlying issues weren't cleaned up. And, Fisher felt TOO good to be true. I love a good, strong, healthy alpha-male character, but there's such thing as too good to be true, and Fisher was.
This was my first Robin Kaye book and unfortunately #2 in a series. Maybe if I had started with book 1 I would have had a better read.
I found this to be dull and boring. I had no connection with the characters. I did not find Fisher to be anywhere near an alpha male. Instead of going after Jessie, who he is madly in love with, he sits in his home letting it get messy, drinking and knitting-WTF???!! Fisher is a little girl. His meddling family is OTT, not cute and definitely not funny. Fisher is supposed to go all alpha male on Jessie, when? Fisher is a whiny little girl. The little sister, Karma, was just a brat. Her meddling didn’t make sense.
I will try Hunter’s book, hopefully I will have success with his story.

jessica instantly became one of my top fmc’s. she was funny, strongminded and extremely likeable. she doesn’t believe in love in relationships outside of family or friends and she’s never been in love either.
fisher is a top book boyfriend for sure. he was charming and fun and he instantly fell head over heels for jessica, which surprised even him since he’s not used to anything but casual. jessica is the first girl he’s ever been in love with and he’s so sweet, patient, possessive and caring towards her the moment he realises it.
“𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺.”
fisher and jessica instantly find themselves giving in to their mutual attraction and end up sleeping together with no plans for it to be just the one time. jessica is writing a book and wants to use fisher as her subject to write good chemistry since the two of them have it spades, to which he agrees. on fisher’s end it quickly becomes more than casual and he’s in completely in love with her. jessie, on the other hand, is still hellbent on chalking it up to lust.
when jessie finally succumbs to what was always going to happen, she too is completely crazy in love with fisher and the wait is worth it. this was a rare time where i didn’t mind the fmc being so in denial, fisher was constantly telling her he loved her and he wasn’t angry she didn’t say it back, he was so patient in waiting on her to catch up with him and seeing her finally realise it was everything!
the side characters were hilarious and this was truly a laugh out loud romcom, it’s so well written and the one liners were hilarious, a must read for sure! 💌
Unemployed sportswriter Jessie James meets up with Dr. Fisher Kincaid. She doesn’t believe in romance, is writing a romance novel and he falls hard for her. Backwoods hiking fly fishing with city girl. Did like big handsome hunk massively into cooking and cleaning. Breaks some stereotypes while perpetuating others homophobia intersex phobia -Stereotypes about tall girls not being feminine & men not knitting & intervention when they thought Jessica was a man sleeping with Fisher - why doesn’t she just tell Fisher about the negative experience she had losing her virginity on a bet because of her height & classmates wondering if she was really a guy Lots of enthusiastic sex Was published 2012 some unbelievable premises he can’t live in a clean house because he’s a guy living alone? Men snd women can’t be best friends?
The plot makes zero sense and jumps from one random thing to another. The character histories are weak, and Jessie’s main obstacles are never even resolved. She doesn’t even discuss them with Fisher. There’s no true conflict in the story.
I found Jessie to be incredibly annoying, and her character arc, again, was weak.
Dialogue was corny and unrealistic. Even the character’s names were annoying.
I had such high hopes for this but just didn’t enjoy it.
The beginning chunk and the second half of this book were good but the large section where we have to deal with a Jessie thinking that she can just up and write a romance novel to make money quick and her repeated conversations about not believing in love were annoying and not enjoyable at all. So 2 stars is the average of the good parts (3 stars) and the bad parts (1 star.)
I loved the humor, the dialogue and the characters. Bought this book about 5 years ago at a booksigning. Just now read. I enjoyed Jessica and Fischer's story. I will be reading more by this author.
I like this one much better than the first one! Love Jessie and definitely love all the Kinkaid boys. So happy that i kept reading. Can't wait to read the next one.
I liked this book. Goes to show if you don't ask the right questions you will never get the answers. Never assume. Cute ending. Waiting for the next to come my way.
Tidak seperti apa yang diharapkan. Tidak sebagus romeo, romeo & too hot to handle. Enough deh baca karya Robin Kaye. Apa aku yang sudah mulai jengah baca kisah contemporary-romance, ya?
CALL ME WILD is a suitable title because this novel is wildly entertaining! The next installment in Robin Kaye's Wild Thing series is a winner!
Jessie James had everything she wanted as a sports reporter for the New York Times. Now that she's lost her job, she takes a big risk by moving to Bosie, Idaho to start a writing career as a romance author. Except the one thing she wants to write about is the one thing she doesn't believe in—love.
Dr. Fisher Kincaid can't believe that a woman like Jessie wouldn't even give love a chance, or give him a chance. So when Jessie agrees to let Fisher sweep her off her feet in the name of research, he takes every advantage to change her mind about love. She's convinced she will never fall in love and he isn't willing to let her go without a fight.
Steamy, passionate and sweet are some of the first words that come to mind when thinking about Robin Kaye's latest CALL ME WILD. Light, fun and entertaining come in a close second for this next installment in the Wild Thing Series. A surprisingly similar, yet vastly different couple, Jessie and Fisher certainly create an interesting story. At first you don't really see how the two mesh well together, because they are opposites in so many ways. Still, after a few chapters, their bond and attraction become very natural like you don't know how they were happy without each other before. Most of that has to do with the fact that Jesse and Fisher share a passion that scorches the pages. It was a fascinating romance with a cleverly used role reversal because you have a heroine who really doesn't understand her feelings and won't admit to them. So while Fisher quickly acknowledges their mutual attraction is something much greater than he ever expected, Jessie is less reluctant to pass it off as anything more than lust.
Fisher Kincaid was a unique kind of guy to say the least. His charismatic charm took Jessie for a whirl and I have to say me as well. He's a doctor, a neat freak, he cooks, he has a great family, he's in great shape...heck, he even makes his own salad dressing! I could go on forever. Needless to say, at times I found him to be ‘too perfect.' Which wasn't really a disappointment, but sometimes became distracting. I usually like to see characters show their scars or flaws and he just didn't seem to have any. And in a unique way, it made me feel bad for the heroine because she couldn't do half the things he could. Not that he expected her to, but I guess my expectations were different. Still, he was an extremely delicious character that was far too easy to love.
People who have already heard of Robin Kaye probably know what kind of excitement to expect from her stories. I'll admit this was my first novel by Ms Kaye and I can easily understand all the commotion. CALL ME WILD takes you a on a great romantic journey...one that has high points and low points for the characters, to make reading it that much more enjoyable. There were a combination of things that I loved about this novel, but the intimacy between the characters definitely stands out. It just proves you can't go wrong when reading books written by Robin Kaye. Also, don't be scared to start this novel in the middle of a series. You won't be left behind, but you will want to get to know the other characters a little better by the end. So like me, I'm sure you'll be eyeing her backlist for your ‘to be read' pile!
Robin Kaye has a great series in her hands because she's fused together a family of characters that are simply unique and humorous. They complement each other in the best way and keep you looking forward to the next story. It's one thing to read it for the sexy romance, but it's another to stay because you have fallen in love with the characters. The story is light, the romance is breathtaking and the mood is humorous...making it an enjoyable read from the first page to the last.
Sports reporter Jesse James gets the pink slip by email late at night, after having interviewed a sports team. Without a pay check, she certainly can’t afford her nice New York apartment. Her best friend has the solution though. He is living in LA at the moment but he still has a house in Boise, Idaho. She can live there rent-free and finally write the novel she was set on writing in college. Jesse thinks writing a steamy romance novel will be an easy sale, and so she sets out to become a best selling author. But that is not as easy as she thinks it is. Especially when Jesse does not believe in romance or true love.
Sports doctor and easy going guy Fisher Kincaid notice Jesse on her first day in Boise in the local Starbucks, and makes a play at her. But even though he is insanely handsome, Jesse is just not interested. She has no time, she is here to work on her book, and to apply for a job at the Starbucks to earn enough money for groceries and gas and such. All the locals think her nuts for turning down Fisher, especially his younger sister Karma. She becomes fast friends with Jesse, and does her best to set the two of them up together in the remote mountain retreat of their older brother Hunter. Fisher is furious with his sister though, sending Jessica up the mountain in an inadequate car and without even an emergency kit. If he hadn’t found her when she went in search of a cell phone signal, she could have died there.
Being thrown together makes them finally act upon their mutual attraction though, Fisher has never met a woman who could run him into the ground each morning when he went jogging behind her, or who kept up with him and wanted to learn how to fly fish. They rescue each other, and Jesse ends up having to take care of a severely concussed Fisher, with the blessings of his family.
She has never been the nurturing type, after a horrible experience in high school she gave up on romance and relationships for good. She has only had some loose dates and one night stands ever since. Her best friend Andrew is there with advice though, and he enjoys seeing her fall. If only she had fallen for him ... But he wants her to be happy, and if Fisher makes her happy, he will do whatever he can to get them back together again. Somehow, their relationship will have to work with Fisher happily living in Boise, and Jesse getting a high profile new television job ...
I enjoyed this book very much, Robin Kaye has a very humorous writing style and very vivid characters. The only thing I severely dislike are the names: Fisher, Hunter, Trapper and Karma. Of course there is a story behind it, but still. And I do want to read the first book in the series. Yes, it is totally possible to read this series out of order. I do wonder if there will be more books, about the third brother and Karma herself. Perhaps with Andrew?
It was fun to see how Jesse kept turning Fisher down again and again, and how she thought he was a worthless bum, living with his mother (because his house is pristine!). Usually the couple jumps into bed in the first few chapters, or right after their first meeting, but not here! Fisher is a health freak, and he really hates how Jesse eats, she doesn’t cook so she gets a lot of ready to eat meals at the grocery store. Even offering to cook for her doesn’t change that. Fisher’s uncle is a real treat, I enjoyed him very much, and he is much more than he appears to be. That was fun to discover.
All in all, a fun novel, perfect for a hot summer’s day. It took me a while to understand the joke here: I will see you around. Not if I see you first. Jesse says that, and it means that if she sees Fisher somewhere first, she makes certain he does not see her. She does believe he is a stalker at first after all. Original, not very predictable or cookie cutter. I do look forward to more Robin Kaye books, and can certainly recommend her Domestic Gods series as well.
It’s nice to be back with the Kincaid family again. I had a blast with them – brothers Hunter, Fisher, Trapper with sister Karma – in the first book in this series, Wild Thing. This time around it’s Fisher who runs smack into love, but it’s his heroine who has some problems for everyone.
Jessie has just lost her job – via electronic pink slip from her newspaper – and her best friend, Andrew, talks her into borrowing his house in Idaho where she can have some peace and quiet to finally work on that romance novel she’s been thinking about for years. After running into the same handsome guy a few times, she ends up at his house for a dip in the hot tub after suffering a hamstring pull during her jog. The man knows his way around the female body, but she just can’t get past the fact he’s a bum and lives with his mother!
Getting to know Jessie has only increased Fisher’s fascination with her. The woman is a contradiction all the way around. She’s writing a romance novel, but she doesn’t believe in love. She has an innocence about her that belies the life she’s lived so far. To help her out – and himself too, of course – Fisher volunteers to be her research assistant/lab rat and teach her how a man romances a woman. But there’s so many assumptions between them that every time they turn around, something is going wrong between them. That’s when little sister Karma gets involved. She’s always trying to get one up on her brothers, and they make it so easy she can’t resist. She invites Jessie for a quiet weekend at the family cabin, only to also finagle a trip up there out of Fisher, and Karma herself has no intention of getting anywhere near that mountain cabin.
What should have been a romantic weekend in a romantic setting starts out the usual way with those erroneous assumptions getting in the way, but then little by little, especially after experiencing hot and intense lovemaking, Fisher and Jessie begin dating. Something Jessie is sure will lead nowhere, but Fisher is determined to prove her wrong. Jessie keeps to her mantra of love doesn’t exist, despite the fact her heart and and her body believe otherwise. But she’s not familiar enough with that emotion to realize what’s happening to her. Fisher, on the other hand, knows he loves Jessie, but telling her is a mistake. Jessie’s a runner, and she’s ready to run as far away as she can get.
I do love Fisher. He’s a doctor – who doesn’t live with his mother! – and he knows what he wants in life. I like his romantic and gentlemanly side, as well as his devilish and fun side. The play between all the siblings is also an entertaining part of this story. What takes a little bit to warm up to is Jessie’s attitude toward love and romance. She has her reasons, and that’s fine. What I have a difficult time is the span of time it takes her to realize she’s been wrong all along. It just goes on much too long, especially after Fisher has proven himself to her, even after her best friend in the whole wide world gives her a talkin’ to. She refuses to look past her own experiences into something that could be wonderful beyond all thought, as she finally discovers. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. That being said, I do like Jessie. Despite this fault, she has a sense of humor, she enjoys a good competition, and she’s loyal. She just needs to lighten up sooner.
All in all, I had a good time with this book. Not as much as the first, but Fisher makes it come in a very close second.
First, let me say I am a HUGE fan of Robin Kaye’s books. Second, I can’t help think of the Call Me Maybe song while I write this. If I was clever enough I would totally come up with some witty thing using the song lyric and the story. But I’m not that clever but I will say that it would totally work. Moving on.
Jessica James finds herself out of a job as a sports reporter in New York. However, the upside is that she can finally write a book that she’s been wanting to. The thing is she wants to write a romance novel because it should be easy to write, but the problem is she doesn’t believe in love. Jessie isn’t going to let that stop her though and she finds herself in her friend's cabin in Idaho.
Fisher Kincaid keeps running into Jessie everywhere the past few days. First while running and next while at Starbucks. When he finally approaches her with the Kincaid charm she shoots him down. It also doesn’t help that since Hunter, his twin, has gotten married Fisher feels that something is off. But there is something about Jessie that Fisher likes. Jessie, on the other hand, thinks Fisher is a stalker.
It wouldn’t be a Robin Kaye story if there weren’t some meddling family members. Karma, Fisher’s younger sister, befriends Jessie and realizes that her “stalker” is really her brother and plays matchmaker. This of course leads to the city girl getting lost out in the mountains and the sexy, outdoorsy doctor coming to her rescue.
Jessie made the story for me. I love her. She puts on this tough girl front but Fisher seems to get her to let loose. Along with her “leaky eyes” and her foul mouth, I find Jessie such a great heroine. And how can I not talk about Fisher? He cleans, he cooks, he’s a doctor and does manly outdoorsy things. But he’s also vulnerable when it comes to Jessie. She doesn’t believe in love but he it puts it out there for her to reject him. That right there is a real man.

Jessie collapsed on Fisher. Her gasps turned to tears, and fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck. Her eyes were leaking again.
Overall One of the things I like best about Robin Kaye’s books is that they blend the right amount of humor and vulnerability with her romance. Also, I love that they are all somewhat connected. I love seeing previous characters popping back in. It’s like a big party sometimes. Though, it’s not necessary to read the books in order I totally would, and its totally worth it.
Now, I want Jessie to be my friend and I cannot wait until Karma gets what’s coming to her. That girl needs to learn to mind her own business, but I love her anyway. Trapper is also still single and I can’t wait to see what happens with him.
Sidenote: Jessie’s mom sends her a package from Harold’s in Edison, NJ. I just wanted to mention that yes this place does exist and yes the sandwiches are that big. Oh, and the pickle bar is fabulous.

I’ve only read one other book by Robin Kaye that I’m aware of and I liked it. I didn’t love it the way that a lot of my friends did but it was still an enjoyable read. The same can be said for this book. This book follows Jessie James as she travels to Boise, Idaho to get a book written after she loses her job in New York. Jessie was a sports writer for the Times and when she gets canned, her best friend offers her his house in Boise (rent free) if she writes the book that she’s been telling herself she’d write since college.
She’s all about it so off to Boise, Idaho she goes. What I liked about this book was the banter between the hero and the heroine. The romance was pretty hot but it wasn’t over the top cheesy, which I appreciated. Jessie is this tomboy who doesn’t believe in love…and she’s writing a romance novel. Her attitude toward romance novels at first was annoying because as a romance loving woman, it’s nothing that I haven’t heard before. I was okay in the end since she wrote her romance novel and found that it wasn’t as easy as she thought it’d be and everything worked out but her snooty attitude toward the books that I read and love made me want to smack her a time or two. I laughed when I first heard the names of the boys in Fisher’s family. Trapper, Fisher, Hunter and then their sister Karma. What in the world were their parents smoking when they were all born? Holy cow.
Then there was Fisher. Good ol’ Fisher who is just too good to be freaking true. Fisher loves to cook, clean and take care of Jessie. It was like he lived to serve her and meh, that got a bit tired as the book wore on. All of his cooking and cleaning had me raising my eyebrows but then he started waxing on about RWA and romance novels and how he knows this and that about the romance genre and I about tripped over his perfection. I like my heroes to be great but not so great that I’d be intimidated to be with him and I would have totally been intimidated to be with Fisher. I kept thinking that he was too good to be true while I was reading this book and because I was so wrapped up in how perfect Fisher was, I didn’t pay as much attention to the story as I would have liked. This book was good. Watching Jessie and Fisher come together was a good way to spend a few hours but there were times in this book when I didn’t think Jessie was good enough for Fisher. I couldn’t really get Jessie’s appeal since she assumed too much and she was stubborn to the bone but, I enjoyed their story anyway. I thought the secondary characters were great additions to the story and enjoyed getting to know Gramps through the many steakfry lunches he had with Jessie.
I’m mighty interested to see if Andrew will be getting his own book. It was kind of a bummer that Jessie never realizes that Andrew is in love with her in this story but maybe if he got his book, she’d find out in there. One could hope. Anyway, this book was enjoyable and I’d recommend this to fans of the Domestic Gods series.
Jessica James just got fired from her job as a sports reporter. With no back-up plans in the works, Jessica decides to go on a short break to Idaho to write a romance novel. Since she is a professional writer, writing a novel about love should be a piece of cake…right? Wrong. Jessica doesn’t believe in happily ever after and when she meets Fisher Kincaid she gets a lesson in love.
Dr. Fisher Kincaid is more than willingly to step up and become Jessica’s guinea pig while she explores the dynamics of love. He is extremely attractive to the beautiful and strong-willed writer. As the two become close, he realizes he has to pull out all stops to make her realize that love is indeed real.
I tend to run hot and cold with Ms. Kaye’s writing. Some books hit the mark and others are totally far off. In this book, she hits middle ground. While I do enjoy the sweet and endearing characteristics of Fisher, I became slightly annoyed by him. The roles are reversed in this book which I can totally appreciate but Fisher almost became the more romantic lead in the story. In fact, in the last book as well, the males are the ones who take on the pursuit.
Sure, women want to read about men who are sweet, kind, romantic, etc. However, how real are those characteristics? I’m not saying that men can’t possess those qualities but do they possess all of them? I don’t know. It just appears as though Fisher is too perfect and understanding. He is handsome, smart, family-oriented, great in bed, super clean and is a great cook. There is nothing wrong with him! I wanted him to be a bit more flawed or have more depth to him.
Jessica is not the most likeable female character for me. She constantly pushes Fisher away and holds firmly to her belief that love doesn’t exist. I had expected some traumatic event to have occurred for her to have a strong opinion and when her background unfolds, it was minor. She held onto her embarrassment for entirely too long.
While I didn’t care for the main characters as much, I really enjoyed the secondary characters. It’s still taking me some time to get over the silly names but I can’t wait to know more about Trapper and Karma. It is also nice to see what happened to Hunter and Toni.
Overall, I did enjoy the story. It is cute and sometimes funny. I look forward to the next book.
Jessica ( Jessie) James is living her dream as a sports reporter when she gets an electronic pink slip and ends up temporarily living in Boise, Idaho. Jessie has never been in love with anyone and doesn’t believe that she ever will be. She thinks love is really just lust that has turned into settling down. Fisher Kincaid is a physician in Boise who meets Jessie in the local Starbucks. To say that he doesn’t make a good first impression is an understatement. Running into Jessie in local haunts doesn’t change things as she becomes convinced that he is a not so smart, lazy, stalker type. The Kincaid family is tight and Fisher’s twin brother has recently fallen in love and gotten married, leaving Fisher feeling unsettled. His sister, Karma, thinks it will be fun to set Jessie and Fisher up and tricks them into going to a family home in the mountains. After an initial blow up when they meet up, things settle down and both Jessie and Fisher discover that there is a lot to like about each other. The path to true love isn’t easy, injuries happen, feelings get hurt, and things look pretty bad for the relationship. But, it works out after both parties learn a little bit about themselves and each other. The fact that they burn up the sheets whenever they are together helps them get through the bad stuff. The old romance plot-I’ll teach you to be romantic- makes an appearance but in a unique set up that makes it fresh and workable. Jessie and Fisher are really cute together and have a surprisingly similar outlook on love. He is just a little more pleasant about it. I enjoyed his interactions with his family members. The brothers are a hoot, forcing him to take knitting lessons after he loses a bet, barging in when he is home in bed with Jessie, and otherwise making his life miserable. Unfortunately, they also open one of Jessie’s hidden scars when they find her in bed with Fisher the first time and make some insensitive remarks. For the most part both Jessie and Fisher find themselves the recipients of lots of advice and snarky remarks from their immediate circle of family and friends. There are two earlier books in the series and with two unmatched siblings; it seems likely that there will be two more. I hope so, because I will certainly read them.
My Review: I really like Robin Kaye's books.....hello, all her heroes love to cook and clean...and they're gorgeous and sexy. What's not to love??
In this book, the hero is Fisher (twin brother to Hunter which we met in Wild Thing). Fisher is a flirt who loves his coffee, health nut, orthopedic doctor, and neat freak. The first day Jessie is in Boise, they run into each other 3 times. Fisher is intrigued. Jessie thinks he's a stalker....albeit a good-looking one, but a stalker nonetheless.
Jessie just got laid off her job as sports reporter for the NYTimes and has transplanted to Boise to write a book, borrowing her friend Andrew's house. Jessie is 6 ft. tall, extremely athletic, and doesn't believe that love actually exists...even though she's writing a romance novel. As she gets to know Fisher, she changes her definition of him from stalker, to bum who lives with his mother....hehe! I loved that she didn't even realize he was a doctor until really deep into the story.
This is a really fun book. From the opening scene where she made fun of the pro baseball player's junk in the locker room, I knew that I was going to like Jessie. She's tough and hard-headed and honestly can't see what's right in front of her face, but she's still a likable characters. And it's a given that I loved Fisher...OMG, I love that he's set out to romance Jessie just to prove to her that love exists. My favorite scene of his....when he's standing up to his family when he can barely stand up at all trying to protect Jessie. My heart melted more than just a little.
This is a great family whom we've gotten to know over the last several book. From meddling Grandpa Jo to Karma...they have great hearts even if they usually get it all wrong. I can't wait for Karma and Trapper's stories. I am also hoping that we will get to see an HEA for Jessie's friend Andrew. My heart melted a tiny bit for him too. It's just a fabulous series!!!
I received a complementary copy of this book in return for an honest review....but I will be buying a print copy for my keeper shelf when it's released!
