Review:

"Secret Agenda" by Jacquelyn Webb was a good fiction story. The story was a well written short story that was indeed a page turner. I found it hard to put down... so I read it in one setting.

The story was of a journalist, Donna Madison who set out on a journey to Darwin. On this trip during her off hours of work Donna was looking for her brother Matt who had left home(vanished) earlier due to an argument (about his future with the company) with their father. Now that their father was sick(bad heart) and finding out that Matt's girlfriend was pregnant Donna felt she had to track him down and find
out just what was going on him him and and drag him home whatever it took. Due to the fact that Donna was a journalist and in her snooping around found out her brother was traveling up the coastline working as a diver or fisherman. Knowing this Donna set up to do her assignments (visiting a minor conference of politicians and environmentalists)
and along with that ..... finding out what was up with her brother.

A lot of questions are asked and answered: Why was her brothers' behavior so out of character? Could drugs account for his odd behavior? As the story moves in difference directions ... ..Will Donna find Matt? How does the drugs come into play?... and what about the pearl diving industry? And ...Who is falling in love with Donna? I don't want to give it away so you will simply have to pick up this novel to find just what was the "Secret Agenda."

There are some very interesting characters in this story to really take note of: Nick Carrellas, Lang Torrens,(photographers), Sapphire Green, Alex Vallison, Mrs. Jenson, Rabbit, (Mal McMahon), Spencer, Countess Maria Montildi, Jimbo, Ms. Big and Mr. Smith. The author did a wonderful job and putting this story together making the reader wanting to know just what was going to happen next.

"Secret Agenda" was a quick, interesting and a good read.

A ‘short’ romance/mystery fills the bill for me, and The Secret Agenda took off at a run from the first page–no waiting around to see what developed, which was a refreshing approach.

Journalist Donna Madison, on the hunt for her missing brother, wangles her assignments to coincide with her next clue. Darwin, Australia, is next on her list. At the airport, she literally falls into the arms of the photographer she is expecting to meet her–and then discovers he’s not quite who he seems to be.

Along the way, she meets a variety of other characters who may or may not be who they present themselves to be. And, of course, she falls again–this time, in love.

As much as the story, the descriptions of various places in and around Darwin are well-worth the read. Another plus is the apparently well-researched information on the pearling industry. It’s unusual to finish reading a fiction story and realize one has acquired a file of new facts.

All in all, if you’re looking for a fast-paced story with just the right amount of realism and literary license, plus a read you can recommend, go for The Secret Agenda.

I love a good mystery with romance and that is what The Secret Agenda is! I had a connection to Donna from the get go and Lang is very charming. The plot and the unexpected were great. Ms. Webb did a great job with the flow of the story never a dull moment. I kept me captivated and enthralled till the end.
Would Donna be able to find Matt? Who is involved with the drug runners? You will have to read it to find out. And I would recommend this clean free of swearing and sex book! I can't wait to get my hands on another read from Ms. Webb. I hope you all enjoy!
