Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.
Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.
With the real Madara here, whatever's left of the previously established logic, power scaling, and strategic approach to fighting throughout 59 volumes are about to be completely thrown away. Let the shitshow begin!
Not a fan of how Hinata and Sakura were written off as damsels in distress that have to be saved by JesusNaruto. Also, why the hell were the Mizukage and Chojuro written off in an offscreen fight against the weakest Akatsuki member? Lava Style is one of the natural counters to Wood Style, and Black Zetsu's way less impressive than even Yamato. A single attack from Mei should've been enough to take him down, and with Chojuro and a doppelganger Naruto there, it should've been an overkill. Mei and Chojuro deserved a lot more screen time, and personally, I would've loved to see them aid Kakashi's division against the former swordsmen and the kekkei genkai users. We could have explored the 7 Swordsmen lore a bit more, and also have a better look at how kekkei genkai users were treated in the Narutoverse, with Mei having to explain how things have changed in her village and how she, a kunoichi that has not one, but two blood limits (which in itself is an amazing thing), is now the Mizukage in a land where shinobi with special abilities like her had been forced to live in hiding or risk being murdered. It would've also been such a touching moment to see the deceased Kiri shinobi (including Haku and Zabuza) react to how things have changed during the Fifth's era. After Yagura's reign, Mei was to Kirigakure what Tsunade was to Konoha after Orochimaru's attack, but so, so much more significant. She's the reason the days of the "bloody mist" were over, its children no longer having to kill each other just to graduate their academy. And due to her diplomatic assets, Kiri is now fighting shoulder to shoulder with the other major villages in the most important war in the shinobi history. So many wasted opportunities, but hey, at least we've wasted entire panels with JesusNaruto spamming his Rasengan while all the other characters were sidelined, right?
The 5 Kage reuniting and working together against Madara is one of the best moments in the manga, but unfortunately, is going to be wasted in a fight that they cannot win. Not because they don't have the abilities to do so, they're the 5 most powerful shinobi of this generation after all (Jinchuriki and unrealistically plot-powered main characters excluded), but because they don't have the plot on their side.
Okay, I have to admit that I have devoured three volumes in one sitting and now the lines indicating where one ended and the next began are kinda blurry. I did love the five kage arc, even if they stood no real chance against Darth Madara wearing the thickest plot armor this ninja world has ever seen. But I adored how the slow evolution of views of these very different leaders converged, in large part thanks to Naruto, and how this outside threat of Madara finally brought them together once and for all. An alliance forged in blood, indeed. Also, Ohnoki becomes an old dear here. The fight scenes are pretty cool, and while Naruto and Bee needlessly flit from one battle to another, the main weight of this volume rests deservedly on the five kage.
Woah, Senpai Kishimoto dropped another bomb with the revelation that Tobi isn't the real Uchiha Madra. After this volume, it's perfectly clear that Uchiha Madara is out of everyone's league. With the godlike power Madara is a force to be reckoned with. I think, only the five shadows can destroy the real Madara. Whereas, Naruto and Bee are facing the fake Madra along with the previous six Jinjuriki. Everyone need to step up their game in order to stop the project Tsuki No Me.

I love that we get so much more story with other characters throughout this war, personally loving all the Gaara I am getting!! Also, The Five Kage have made their grand entrance to the war!!!!
Naruto, Gaara, Killerbee, Hinata, Shikamaru, Choij, Ino, Sakura, Kiba, Shino, Kankaro, Temari, Iruka and Kakashi is my favorites and I love all this!! <3
GAH! The chance to see all of these people fight is so cool! Naruto is really starting to take charge! He’s growing up! And who is that man in the mask, really?!
Naruto represent a important part of my life. Cada episódio de naruto contiene un aprendizaje. Claramente no te lo puedes perder, te va a gustar, tiene acción, drama, relleno, entre otros.
Huge revelations are exposed and a huge battle begins. This was severely action-packed and really keeps the intrigue going with some of the ongoing mysteries of this franchise.
Genuinely can't be bothered to write individual reviews for this series. I never watched this as a kid I don't have the childhood nostalgia or pull to it. It's another very popular/iconic manga series that whilst I can see why some people like it my feelings are very neutral and nothing I say is truly adding to it so....
Madara is the best thing about this arc. He is one of the best villains ever. He carries this shitshow on his sexy back. For now, I remain very happy. But I know how this shite ends. And oh, I'll be ranting when I get there. For now, I will enjoy Madara while I have him.
Combat, combat, combat. And with muddied art as a bonus. Sure there's a hint of plot movement here and there. Especially at the end where Naruto and Bee are maybe about to do something with a Madura. Not one of the better issues. 2.5 of 5
Once upon a time, the spirit of an evil Nine Tailed Fox wreaked havoc on Konohagakure; the Village Hidden in the Leaves, killing hundreds of honorable ninja in the skirmish and leaving many children without homes or parents. The Fourth Hokage (leader of the village) unleashes a forbidden jutsu (magic spell/ninja ability) to seal the spirit of the evil fox into the body of a newborn baby named Naruto at the cost of his own life. He did this in the hopes that the boy could one day learn to master the power of the demonic spirit and use it to protect the village and become a great hero of the people.
Unknown to the citizens of the Leaf, the Nine Tailed Fox was being controlled by an even more powerful adversary, a legendary rogue ninja that plans to wage war against the entire world from the shadows. The identity of the mysterious ninja that attacked the Leaf Village using the Nine Tails died with the Fourth Hokage, and he used what remained of his life to gift Naruto with the power of one day being able to stop this evil ninja and a clan of outlawed S-rank criminals called the Akatsuki from committing mass genocide against the many hidden villages and clans of the world.
Because of the evil spirit sealed inside him, Naruto grew up hated by the other children of the village because they believe him and the Nine Tails to be one and the same. They believe he’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, waiting for the perfect moment to kill them all just like the Nine Tails killed their parents and families. Shunned, dehumanized and treated like dirt, Naruto vows to become the greatest hokage the world has ever seen so that he can receive the love and acknowledgement he never got as a child.
On top of the Nine Tails power and the will to never quit, Naruto also possesses the uncanny ability to turn everyone he meets into a potential comrade. He brings out the best in his peers and tries his hardest to make his enemies see the errors of their ways. He disobeys the rules and ignores cultural traditions to try and make changes to the world and break the eternal cycle of war and hatred through his own methods. His determination is infectious to friend and foe alike. He earns himself the respect he deserves by overcoming one impossible obstacle at a time.
Naruto encounters many fascinating and terrifying ninja over the course of his journey to become hokage. Among them are Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto’s best friend and rival who is driven by the vengeful lust to murder his elder brother after he wiped out their own clan in cold blood. Sasuke warms up to Naruto, but his hatred and trauma are dangerous forces that threaten to break his moral code as a ninja and destroy his reputation among his peers.
Kakashi Hatake is a notorious copycat ninja that survived one of the most brutal and devastating wars in history as well as the Nine Tails attack on the Leaf Village. He becomes Naruto and Sasuke’s mentor and teaches them a great number of valuable lessons about surviving in the dangerous world of rogue ninja, bloodthirsty assassins and clans ruled by corruption.
Jiraiya is a perverted yet wise sage who taught the Fourth Hokage everything he knew and he’s regarded as a god among shinobi that’s famous for his heroic actions in the second great ninja war. He takes an interest in Naruto and raises him as a father figure to carry on the legacy of the Fourth Hokage to prepare him for the many dangerous people that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes.
The Akatsuki is one such group of wicked ninja. Among them are Sasuke’s brother Itachi who murdered his clan and possesses many dangerous techniques involving illusions, psychological torture and elemental manipulation. Sasori who controls poisonous puppets with magical threads, Orochimaru who mastered the forbidden arts of reanimation and quasi-immortality, Deidara who fights from afar using detonating clay and many other deadly foes.
The entire series chronicles Naruto and his fellow ninja comrades growing through countless trials and tragedies. There are hundreds of unique jutsus, clans, and techniques which lead to some very intense, creative and strategic battles between skilled ninja with diverse abilities that don’t always match up evenly. There are clan based abilities such as the Aburame clan’s ability to control insects, the Yamanaka clan’s ability to jump into other people’s minds and control their bodies and the Inuzuka clan’s ability to bond with wolves that learn to mimic their master’s battle skills. Then there’s ocular genetic abilities such as the sharingan which allows the user to create psychological illusions, copy their enemy’s abilities and manipulate elemental energy. The byakugan allows the user to read their enemies vital points and detect their spiritual energy from faraway. The rinnegan grants control over space and gravity and so on.
On top of having countless unique abilities, nearly every character has a tragic backstory that makes them sympathetic and relatable, even the nastiest of the villains have well-explored reasons for following the paths they do and becoming the way they are. One of my favorite aspects of the series is how well it explores the physical, emotional and psychological effects war can have on society and culture as well as the survivors and future generations that are forced to live in them. How it breeds racism and cultural disputes, how it inspires hatred in orphaned children and war veterans robbed of their homes toward foreign nations, as well as how this eventually leads to further death, war, poverty and destruction. Learning to forgive the ones you hate to prevent further conflict and damaging the world for future generations even further is a major theme throughout the story.
Being a massive 700 chapter series, it’s not too surprising that there’s some plot holes and consistency issues. A rule might be stated regarding the requirements and usage of a certain jutsu or ability only for that rule to be repeatedly broken 400 chapters later. Sometimes the characters and rules contradict themselves, sometimes the chronology of certain events and historical facts don’t match up perfectly, the lore and general backstory go through several retcons that change the philosophy and power scaling of the characters and the scope of world-building; the final arc especially drags on and breaks a lot of the logic and rules that the story spent the whole series setting up, etc...
Naruto’s far from perfect, but I remember it very fondly for being one of the first series that introduced me to things like manga and Japanese entertainment in general. It was one of those childhood classics like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin. The series grew up with me and I can’t help but feel grateful to it for introducing me to hundreds of other franchises that I’m still a huge fan of to this day and I continue to find many new ones on the regular. Naruto's journey from a clownish, disrespected outcast into a talented, well-loved and admired hero is a memorable one.
Acho que é a primeira vez que dou 5 estrelas a uma mangá. A escala é simplesmente arrasadora! Jinchuriki vs Jinchuriki, Kages na frontline e 1 trunfo imprevisível.
The volume starts out with quite a bit of science which quickly degenerates into nonsense with the arrival of the real Uchiha Madara. The Gokage line up to meet him, striking a pose and vowing to bring peace to the land. It's all very honourable, but know what I know, very cringe.
First, Gaara faces off against the Second Mizukage, a fellow eyebrowless leader. Here we see my favourite jutsu, the Steam Imp. He's adorable and mischievous, floating across the sky like Snowman and stealing sealing tags. He leaves his evil little face etched into the sky with his steam explosion. Gaara loved him too because he wrought him in gold to last forever.
Gaara is joined by his good pal Naruto who is simultaneously at every battlefield helping out and giving everyone a morale boost. The busy hero even spared a moment to address Hinata's ever present self-doubt. That's what a hero does. On one battlefield we see Sai's sealing jutsu, Crouched Tiger Bullet, which is visually my favourite sealing jutsu. The person gets pulled into an ink painting by a Tiger carefully captured by Sai's ink painting technique. I wished we saw more of it.
Madara's introduction in the story is the beginning of the all out war where people start throwing bigger and bigger magical moves at each other which make no sense in the system and power scales that were already established. He was powerful before, but now he's been enhanced with the all-powerful Hashirama's cells to achieve the Six Paths power. He's ridiculous and even the author knows he did wrong with Madara. But what's done is done and I can't deny that his introduction doesn't get you hyped.
I never liked Madara and I still don't. It's true that like a lot of the villains, he had a tough childhood in a war torn land, like everyone else at the time, and he lost loved ones, like everyone else at the time. Obviously it's sad, it's bad, but he doesn't really want peace or a hopeful future, he's groomed other villains with this idea but it's so clearly about power for him. It's clear he enjoys shows of power and lording it over people. That's why he tries to take Hashirama's power instead of working with him for peace. He relished the opportunity to use Hashirama's most powerful jutsu against people who shared his dreams. Maybe time and trauma did that to him, he wanted peace at one point but the anger at being alone came as a delayed reaction and by that point, revenge was no longer the norm, he was a villain. But he's definitely an enemy of progress, "the world doesn't need to grow anymore." He's still entertaining to watch. "Now what are you gonna do about the second one" was good.
He's the catalyst for great team ups. The Gokage… and Naruto with the Kyuubi. The Nine tails will not be enslaved by the eyes of the Uchiha again, he's even willing to team up with his kid cellmate.
I feel like Kabuto is kind of obsessed with Naruto. Yes he's trying to capture Nine and Eight tails, but Naruto as a person has always intrigued and bewildered him. The boy he saw as having no innate genius, something he prized and coveted, who still managed to fight back and get stronger. He can't help but compliment him. Naruto was always his true self and as we know, Kabuto struggles with this.
The Gokage vs Madara fight, at least in the beginning, isn't so bad. The monster power has not been unleashed yet and they do get some punches in. Even Madara takes a moment to appreciate their efforts. It's definitely a smackdown, it's embarrassing, it's disappointing, but at least they tried? I did enjoy seeing the joint moves and then helping each other. Ohnoki and Ay working together to blast through the Susanoo and Mizukage's there with her lava. Sadly, it all goes downhill.
The more interesting fight is Naruto/Bee vs Tobi/Jinchuriki. People whose hearts should be one, forced to fight. The jinchuriki, killed, enslaved again and modified. The bijuu stuck in their dead bodies. Naruto comes at Tobi with a head butt, a signature of his. It's not effective but we love it. Tobi goads him, he's definitely still a bit of that childish fool in the swirl mask. The jinchuriki all have distinct jutsu styles and their biju branding which is fun to watch.
The fight with Tobi gives us more Naruto and Kyuubi development. "Being with a biju isn't all bad." It's not the declaration of love and friendship we're waiting for, but it's a start. I like the sentiment Naruto shares that just because the world no longer has meaning for Tobi, it doesn't mean he can just destroy it. There's other people living lives with their own meaning and finding happiness or trying to, shouldn't they get a chance? They may have suffered too.
