WINNER OF THE 2012 UTOPYA AWARD FOR BEST VILLAIN I hang my head in sorrow for just a moment when I know I am truly alone. I feel like I’m going to my execution, just as he had said. Then I move forward again. I hop a fence of fieldstone and cross a field dotted with Queen Anne’s lace. Goose bumps rise on my arms as I pass the cluster of windmills that I have seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon me in visions. I gaze down the hill, beyond the small, whitewashed house that I knew would be there. The church looms dark and grim with its rough-hewn, timber façade, capped by tall, oblong spires reaching to the sky. Black, ominous clouds have collected above the roofline, as if Heaven is showing me the way.

How to anger a reader: make your protagonist a "selfless", whining, irritating "queen".

I enjoyed the first book in this series. I powered through the second and after an uncountable amount of eye rolls and sighing I am quitting on the third. How can one character manage to be EVERYONE'S ideal love, their soul mate, their queen? Puh-lease kill me (or Evie).

There is nothing more irritating than a stupid girl. A girl who refuses to listen to ANYONE, including her boyfriend who has at least a billion years more experience than she does, but no she must save everyone, she must at least once a chapter offer herself up to whoever wants her, to the utter frustration of the reader.

I found myself wishing that her and Russell would both disappear from the series so the more entertaining and less annoying characters could make an interesting read.

Sorry Bartol, but maybe the young adult crowd will appreciate this, even though you are basically telling them that a woman is never wrong, will always be saved and every man in the universe will love her. Blurgh.

Doubt the stars are fire; Doubt the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love... I love thee best, O most best. Believe it.

The third book in the Premonition series was a little different for me... Did I love some parts of it? Yes. Did I love all of it? No. I will get into my reasons soon, but overall still a solid 4 star read for me!

 photo 1e92379f-ab90-469f-b522-64c836b69281_zpse62d10de.jpg

I’m going to start with Brennus. We are NOT supposed to like Brennus. He is the bad guy, the villain. Don’t get me wrong, he will never take the place of my Reed... but why oh why do I LOVE THIS GUY??? Well I do. Brennus saves Evie many times over in this one. But with him saving her, he makes a deal with her. He keeps her for six months where she cannot communicate with Reed. He is to the point where he doesn’t want her undead anymore. He just wants her. He really does love her and would do anything for her. There were a few times I really thought she was going to jump ship. Evie spent more time with Brenn his people than anyone else in this book. Even though Reed, Russ, Buns, Brownie and Zee are her family, these guys became her family too. She loved Brenn in her own way, but Reed owns her heart.
When did I start loving him? I ask myself. But, it doesn’t really matter. It’s the bottom of the wave, not the top where love crashes over me and washes me away, like it does with Reed. Nothing can compare to that- nothing.

‘Ye take away all of da emptiness of death, mo chrio. Ye make da possibility of a true death seem less important den losing ye. Ye have become da only ting dat matter ta me and I know ye are na aloof ta me’

Now we’ll get to Reed <3
 photo 64f154b8-e10f-4dd8-b02b-46f074fe5b86_zpsee1d7999.jpg

Oh my darling Reed! I wasn’t happy with the amount of time I got with Reed this book. Need more Reed!!! Reed and Evie are together, bonded, and happy at the beginning of the book. There is SO MUCH going on in this book, I don’t even know where to start. Evie has so many people who want her for so many different reasons. She gets separated from Reed. But of course my Reed finds her and saves her. Evie can’t commuinicate with Reed, its part of her contract. But he can come to her, and once he finds her, thats exactly what he does.
“Hold onto the string, love, until the current shifts and we can be together again.

“Evie, you are my aspire... my only love. Don’t you understand? It’s just you. I am no longer whole without you. I will never love anyone but you.”

I have so many mixed feelings about this girl right now...
 photo 0f7b65b1-b4e4-436d-959f-58fd0d448e96_zpsb02e79e8.jpg

What I DON’T love about Evie... she is a martyr to the extreme! I get it, everyone wants to protect the ones they love, but she is so self sacrificing and doesn’t always look at the big picture!
“I know what I cannot survive without so the risk of dying isn’t as grave as the risk of losing what I love.”

I would say it is aggravating that she loves Reed, Russell, and Brennus, but I understand her connection with Russ and I have some love for Brennus too so I can’t judge her too harshly for that.
What I did love about Evie... she is tough. She is also funny. She learns so much more this book- so many new ‘abilities’ and strengths! She also finds out who her angel father is, I think he will be a big part in the next book- we shall see!
“I have learned something in the length of time that I have been here. This is temporary. Everything changes, whether you will it to or not. What you feel now will eventually fade and you will cease to remember it, until you need the information that you learned from it to survive, then it will be there for you.”

Wow, where do I begin with this book? I am again blown away by the intensity of it, that I need a drink to recover. It is so rare in a series, that the books get better, but this one really is better. I thought that my attachment to the story, was because of the location in the first two books. I lived in Michigan for awhile, so the scenery felt good to me. That's not it though, because in this book, the locations are China and Ireland, with a little of Tahiti thrown in. I thought that the love triangle between Evie, Reed and Russell was what was holding my interest, but that's not it either. Another love triangle develops in this book, that was like no other triangle I had read about before. I wanted so much to continue to hate Brennen, but at times it was difficult. Not once did I forget about Reed though, because Amy made sure that Evie didn't either. Whenever he would find her, I would hold my breath to keep from crying. At times it didn't work though, and the tears would fall. I think that Reed and Evie finally have a better understanding of each other, despite their time apart. I am hoping that by the end of the last book, I'll have figured out what it is exactly that's made me fall in love with these characters and this story. Kudos to the author...

Every single page is an ode to Evie's beauty, wits, kind heart ... and every single page goes something like this:

X: I will protect you Evie.
Evie: No, I will protect you.
X: You are beautiful.
Evie: I will protect you.
X: I won't let anything happen to you, look there is the evil guy.
Evie: I will make a sacrifice, I'll go to the evil guy to protect you.
X: No, you are bautiful, I will protect you.
Evie: No you won't, I will protect you.
Evil guy: Come to me, I want you, you are beautiful.

With "X" being the hero, anti-hero, the other hero, the friend's hero, the other friends, the other enemy, every single being on the book.

AAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDD that's exactly how it goes for pages and pages and pages.

Don't get me wrong, it has it's good moments (Only when Reed or Zee appear, and some of the fights are pretty nice choreographed), but ... everything is redundant .... everything is about Evie ... everybody wants her, everybody thinks she's beautiful and powerful and everything comes effortless for her ...

M A R Y S U E

And I still hate Russell.

The only good things about this book are:

-Reese
-Zee
-Buns
-Brownie

Hands down for Mrs. Bartol. This was incredible.

It's the first book of the series I'm giving 5 stars to but it full-on deserves it because every single bit of it was enchanting and it made me want more. I love the world she's built and as the series progresses I love more and more the characters and grow more attached to them.

Needless to say that my favorite character is Reed. I mean I cannot choose but if I were to pick one I'd pick him. I just can't help adoring and feel for him. He definitely is one of my most favorite fictional characters. I love the way he evolved and how he is still trying to change because that, having someone to love and have them love you back so much, is new to him. He is such a good person. He may be a killer since he is a Power but he is every bit as loving as he is an evil terminator. His instincts tell him to protect Evie and he doesn't want her involved but he really wants to change that since there hasn't come any good from that but what really matter is that he is trying hard. I love how he says he is hers and when he says it I believe it.

He & Evie make up for a breath-taking couple. As the story goes one, I realize one thing: unpredictability. Mrs. Bartol will always find something to surprise us with. It'll either be throughout the book, or in the end but she'll definitely do something unpredictable and that's a nice way of making her readers want to read more of her amazing world and her amazing, terrific characters.

Thanks for reading my review! :)

Just devoured the third in the Premonition series. Of course now I am tweeting the lovely Amy Bartol to get INCENDIARY: The Premonition Series; the next installment in this young adult series.

I am so in love with these characters. I of course love Genevieve as a young female heroine. She really embodies the qualities of a young woman trying to find her way in the world in which she has been thrust into...and honestly I have never read a "love triangle" if that is what you would REALLY call it, so beautifully written...Amy Bartol has finally written two male characters that I love equally and understand their separate relationships with the main character Evie...one does not have to "win" out over the other...fascinating plot lines and histories make these two love lines so believable and probable...

I do have to admit I am addicted to Reed, my angel. This character is going down on my list of romantic male leads I need to fantasize about when trapped on a desert island...right up there with Edward (gasp), Jericho Barrons, The BDB Brothers, and Four...yup that's pretty heady company...Reed is special in his own ways...and extremely attractive...as I teasingly mentioned to the author in a tweet... #ReedGivesMeWings

So ladies...read these books and share them..they deserve much more attention than they are getting...and I cannot thank Celeste and the Book Hookup enough for once again making my imaginary life a little brighter with their recs...

Picking up just after the ending of the last book, the action and excitement is in full swing as Evie Reed, Zee and Buns are trying to track down the remaining members of their group (Russell and Brownie), while hiding out from the myriad of groups who want to get their hands on Evie.

Evie and Reed are very much together and blissed out in love. Their love for each other is undying and eternal, and it’s a beautiful romance.

“Evie, you are my aspire... my only love. Don’t you understand? It’s just you. I am no longer whole without you. I will never love anyone but you.”

But the multiple factions that are after Evie aren’t about to back down, and her world is about to get turned upside down once again.

Evie’s pathological self-sacrificing reaches epic proportions in this book when she throws herself into danger not once… but at least four different times in order to protect or save her friends. And one of those times sees her enter into a contract with the Gancanagh to live among them as Brennus’ partner for six months, during which she will not be allowed to have any contact with Reed at all.

Oh Evie. I must confess, at one eye-rolling point of this story, I actually thought it would be easier on everybody if she just died and saved them all the drama of violence, torture and death that seems to befall those who are protecting her. Is she really worth it? I get that her heart is in the right place, and she believes her actions are for the best, but every time she started going on about her need to protect everybody else, at the expense of herself, I just wanted to smack her.

“I know what I cannot survive without so the risk of dying isn’t as grave as the risk of losing what I love.”

Having said that though, the consequences of her actions make for some very compelling reading. As much as I love Reed, I loved reading about her time with the Gancanagh. They’re such a great group, and even though they’re technically baddies, I can’t bring myself to dislike them! They’re so funny, welcoming and very respectful of her, and I love that they sort of become a family to Evie. And even though she knows in her head that she should be revolted by them, she grows to care deeply for them, and I really like that, it creates a great dynamic.

And then there’s their leader Brennus, who is so fascinating! His original plans to make Evie one of the undead are no more, as he has come to appreciate her just as he is, and he spends this book caring for her, protecting her and trying to prove to her that he loves her. You know that he has a dark side simmering underneath, but that just makes it more exciting. Sick, I know, but there you have it.

Evie may feel torn by her growing feelings for Brennus, but it’s Reed that holds her heart, and just when we start to think that Brennus may not be such a bad choice for her, Reed makes an appearance to remind us of his awesomeness, and his forever, undying love for Evie, and I fall even deeper in love with him.

“I miss the outline of your body pressed to mine and the feel of your breath on my neck when you sleep. I miss the sound of your voice. I need you. I have to go soon, but I will be back for you. I promise you. Then, I will show you that there is still beauty in the world -- not a future full of despair. I promise you, I will.”

I really like the way this book is put together. Evie is separated from her ‘family’ for most of the book, but we know that they. In the meantime, more bad guys emerge and holy hell, they are violent, sadistic bastards! The paranormal world continues to grow with new creatures introduced (some of which are truly horrifying), and the violence and action is fantastic – mixed with a bit of magic as Evie starts to learn more about her powers, and she is developing into quite the badass herself.

The story has some surprises and it builds really nicely to an epic showdown which doesn’t disappoint. And then there’s a happy ending which is romantic and very satisfying, while still giving us a hint of more danger and awesome to come. I’m so excited, but I’m also slightly terrified. It’s all gearing up to something big, and I hope and pray that everybody makes it out alive.

I’m loving this series! 4 stars.

Absolutely 10/5 unpredictable stars for this one!

Compared to the previous 2 books of the series, a lot more things happened in this one and there were TONS of surprises that always made my palms sweat and kept me from breathing! Reading this book is like riding on a roller-coaster, there were twisting plots and never ending ups-and-downs. The whole story went on like dominoes, combined with the chain effects and led to something huge and unprecedented. The main charaters were trying to find loopholes when a decision was made; they were extremely intelligent, strategic, and never failed to come up with some well-thought plans. What's more, the entire story was no less than a mixture of all kinds of fictional creatures such as Undines, Ifrits, Gargoyles, Reaper/Power/Virtue/Dominion/Fallen Angels, Seraphim, Gancanaghs, Devils, Demons, Vampires, Faeries, Werrees, Inikwi, Kevev...just to name a few. Therefore, I didn't get bored at all. It was truly fascinating and full of unexpected...incidents that left me in astonishment at the same time.

My favorite quote from Reed(to Evie):
Doubt thou the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love…I love thee best, O most best, believe it.

I had to stop at this book. This series for me, was a fun pastime book. This story is starting to become EXTREMELY REPETITIVE. I understand you're half Seraph, very territorial and what not, but IF I HAVE TO HEAR ANOTHER SOLILOQUY ABOUT HOW YOU WANT TO PROTECT EVERYONE....I get it. STOP TELLING ME, I GOT YOU THE FIRST TWO BOOKS. No! Wait for it! She's in love with Reed, but then she loves Russel too. Honestly it pains me to see Russel go through that! Ugh. I only lasted until this book. I hoped to have a nice action-y nice romance... and instead too much melodrama. I gave it three stars because I liked the first book, but I can't take it. TOO MUCH OF THE SAME "I LOVE YOU AND HIM AND THEM, I WANT TO PROTECT YOU ALL."

Final words: "Sigh"

***EDIT***
I just realized I'm one of the few who wrote a negative review of this book.

Remind me to never make the mistake of waiting MONTHS to continue reading a series, and thinking "Oh so what, I'll read a few summaries and it'll be ok." I forgot about half the things that happened, and only remembered stuff about halfway through the book. Bad habit that I need to get rid of.

The plan now was to write a short summary of what happens and what you can expect, and don't hate me now, but it's basically the same concept like the last book. Evie plays the super martyr, does stuff to save her loved ones, and ends up hurting her loved ones, by doing the thing she wasn't supposed to do, and somehow it ends up okay again. All this wrapped up in Bartols amazing writing and her ability to make you keep reading no matter how much a certain thing annoys you.

And I understand why some of you might had some issues with this book or the series in general. I'm on your side when I say it's sort of frustrating not to have a normal love triangle (which already sucks enough) but whatever you call Evie having three serious love interests and about a dozen other creatures wanting her. But I'm also saying that it's what keeps the story interesting. We all know who'll be endgame, so what's against a bit drama? Because love triangles (and once again I don't know how to call Evie loving these 3 guys) only suck, when it's not clear what'll happen.

I MISSED Reed in this book. He was sort of there the entire time, but also not, and it sucked because #TeamReed.
I expect a round of applause for my next sentence. Russel stopped annoying me. Yes, yes, who would've thought? The first time I saw that he had a chapter in his POV, I was on the verge of screaming, but thankfully Bartol had mercy with us and made his chapters very short, which gave us enough, without oversharing like the last time.
I'm thinking that it would make more sense it we've gotten Reeds POV or even Brennus', and I know that Evie and Russel are soulmates blabla, but we could live without knowing what he's thinking, while I'm dying to get a look into Reeds and Brennus' minds.
Brennus! I stopped seeing him as a villain in the second book, and didn't stop here. All he wants is a bit love, and I wish Evie could give it to him, but you know Reed.
Evie learns a lot more about the Gancanagh here, and just like her you will learn to love them aswell. (Please tell me if you consider this a spoiler, I'm always so confused when it comes to this)

In total this was a perfect not so perfect book written by one of my favorite authors, and showing me once again why it's one of my favorite series. Just like the second one, this doesn't have a mean cliffhanger, and I complained about it, because it didn't make you run to the store, screaming "WHERES THE NEXT BOOK I NEED IT NOW", but you know it still leaves you satisfied and you'll continue reading in peace.

OOOOOOOOOH THIS IS SO DAMN GOOD.

I WAS GASPING FOR BREATH AT THE END. IT WAS LIKE I HADNT TAKEN A BREATH SINCE I FIRST STARTEd READING IT I WAS SUCKED IN FROM THE FIRST PARAGRAPH WHO WOULDN'T BE?

"He can’t hide from me. Not that he is ever trying to, but still, it’s impossible. I know where he is at all times. I’m attuned to his voice, his scent…the beat of his heart. It’s my favorite pastime these days—stalking Reed. It’s a game that I play without knowing that I’m playing it half the time. I hunt him…and he lets me."

It's just too damn good!! I am completely in love with this series!!

They all maintain a high level standard and always deliver to exceed my expectations.

Although I love all of the charachters- well the good ones.
Reed owns my heart and I love Genevieve even if I do-admittedly- find her annoying sometimes as her selfless persona becomes boring when she only ends up messing up and hurting everyone anyway even though her goal is to save those she loves.
She always seems to make bad situations worse.

I love the magic side of things makes things much more interesting.

When I can't possibly believe Evie and now Russell cannot be any deadlier therefore becoming even more alluring to the bad people magic comes into it almost making them indestructible the only weakness being Evie's personality in that she will sacrifince hesdelf in a heartbeat rather than seeing any of her family being killed. Sometimes you have to sacrifice those you care about in order to save the rest.

However I'm hoping they'll all pull through mainly Brownie, Buns, Zee, Reed, Russell and Evie the original members of the cool crestwood gang hehe!!

Can't wait for book 4!!

I rarely rate book with 1 star but I had no other choice this time. I didn't like storyline AT ALL. Main character irritated me AT MAXIMUM. And I found myself skimming through chapters quite often.

Author tried to do the impossible. In the first book she created absolutely dreamy guy and made every reader to fall for him. And than she created absolutely bad guy who tried to kill heroine even though he loved her in his totally sick way. And now she tries to turn this bad guy into the good one and wants to persuade readers to like him??? I do not understand how author wants us to love him when he forces the heroine to be something she does not want to be and takes her away from her loved ones. There is where author failed in my eyes and the fact that author built up this book on some psycho guy is the reason that this book is failure for me.

And I am not even going to comment on the fact that author made the heroine to look like some "easy girl", having strong feelings for every hot guy who wants her. The love triangle may be acceptable but love square? It was too much for me.

I really liked the first book, I was disapponted with the second one, but after reading third book...I think I am done with this series.

Okay, I'll stop yelling now..
It was thrilling and poetic, I couldn't put it down. Amy Bartol's world is simply captivating with all kinds of creatures to behold. I love that she takes fairytales and twists them into things that really work. She really did her research on certain things within the story, making me love it that much more!

Three books into this series, and Amy Bartol still manages to completely enthrall, crush, and disturb me with her incomparably unique and fascinating world!! I don't know how she manages to come up with all of this, but I'm SO glad she decided to put it all into a story! I've been in love with these characters since the minute I met them, and I continue to be unable to pull myself away from their journey. It is going to be a very sad day for me when I have to say a final goodbye after her fourth book comes to a close!!!

Indebted starts out pretty much right where Inescapable left off, with Reed, Evie, and the gang waiting on Russell and Brownie to return from the Ukraine. Zee and Reed are doing their best to keep Evie safe, but when she makes a critical mistake and exposes their whereabouts, it puts them all in danger. There are far more than just fallen and Gancanagh after her now, though, and the one she both fears and longs for comes to her aid just when she most needs him. Forced to make a painful decision in Reed's absence, Evie agrees to become Brennus' Persephone. She will stay with him for 6 months at his mansion, unable to speak with Reed until the time has passed. With Brennus determined to win her love, Reed determined to never let her go, and more enemies than she could ever name lurking around her world, Evie must endure her greatest trial ever. But sometimes being put to the test reveals strengths that would otherwise never have been revealed, and Evie may be even more powerful than anyone imagined.

Okay, so I have been a 'Team Reed' fan all along through this series; he blew me away in Inescapable, and my heart ached endlessly for him in Intuition, and I worried constantly about his heart being able survive Evie's decisions in Indebted. I love him, he's got a permanent place in my heart, and......

HE HAD BETTER END UP WITH EVIE OR I WILL FREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, having said that, I am the first to admit my odd and undeniable fascination with Brennus!! I was intrigued and admittedly attracted to this cocky vamp faerie when we first meet him in Intuition, even though he put Evie through hell. But of course, when she was finally reunited with Reed I put all thoughts of him out of my mind and relished in their emotional and lust-filled union. Little did I know that Bartol was going to raise the bar even higher with Indebted, giving me a side of Brennus that I never expected to see. HOLY CRAP, did this guy have me hot and bothered and pulse-raging for a good half of this book!! I now equate him to my YA fantasy book Christian Grey, because his cocky, sexy, dominant-but-tender personality just wraps Evie up in his seductive and alluring existence. I couldn't help but feel completely intoxicated by him, just like one of the wans they have waiting to be attended to!!!! *fans self* I have to admit my mind and my heart are both a little befuddled right now because there is definitely a part of me that likes the idea of Evie spending her life with Bren!! Yes, I said it! *hangs head in shame* I dare to say that the part of this story where Evie was in the castle with Bren and the fellas (and it's significant) was my favorite of the series so far. Bartol had me laughing out loud over Evie's personality that comes out for these boys, it's like she becomes this entirely different, even cooler chick that can just be one of the guys. And I loved her for it!! She learns so much about herself and her enemies while she's there, and I just loved how bad-ass and confident she became!! Of course, my heart is still with Reed just as Evie's will always be, but Bartol definitely threw a wrench in my plans to forget about Brennus and put on my "Team Reed" cheerleading get-up!!!

So, obvious distraction of really hot guys fawning all over Evie aside, I have to praise Amy Bartol's unbelievably gifted storytelling abilities. I am in such awe of her creativity and boldness when it comes to her characters, plot twists, and emotions drawn from the reader. There is just no predicting what will happen in her stories, because she puts SO much into it that you are kept guessing at every turn!!! Indebted was so full of terrifying creatures, gut-wrenching torture, heartbreak, and unexpected humor that I just was completely engrossed in this world. I never wanted to leave their journey, and it was on my mind every time I had to; it was like being forced to tear myself away from an alternate reality (and yeah, I had that same issue with Inescapable and Intuition, too!!)!!! There is some serious lust flowing through this leg of Evie's journey, too, and Bartol really steams things up with the way Evie handles her allure. I loved the added sexiness it gives to the story, it's almost like the story is growing up along with Evie.

Our other favorites were back in Indebted, too, though the angels were not in the spotlight as much. The Gancanagh fellas really earned themselves a spot in my heart; it was like watching a family of really close brothers interacting, and when they weren't being all tough and protective they were just really cool guys...er...vamp/faeries. I still love Zee, Brownie, and Buns, they are the quirkiest, most entertaining bunch of supporting character angels I've ever come across, for sure!! I still have a love/hate relationship with Russell, because while I love him being a part of their group, I see him as more of a brother for Evie. I really just want him and Brownie to get together so he can leave Evie alone, because lord knows she has her hands full enough as it is!! LOL There were some new enemies in Indebted that look to spell bad news for the angels in the next book, too, but I'm feeling like Evie's going to kick some serious ass!!!

Well, I'm caught up as far as I can go in the Premonition series now, and I can say with 100% certainty this is my favorite angel series!! I have loved every page of these books, and I can't wait to see more!! Now begins the LOOOONG, arduous wait for Incendiary....*sigh*

I loved this book sooooo much!!! The fact that I was actually rooting for Brennus (mo chroí) demonstrates how well-written this book is. Ms. Bartol has the innate ability to bring out the best qualities in each of her characters and make you forget that some of them are evil.

description

Initially, I didn't like the premise of Evie being head-over-heels for Reed while knowing that Russell was her soul mate. Then, when Brennus laid out his plan for making Evie fall in love with him, I was like, what the heck is she (the author) doing?! Why does everyone have to want Evie??? And how is it that she loves them all back??? But it works, people!

I'm starting Incendiary as soon as this is posted and I can't wait to continue the ride.

Gotta say! I couldn't wait for this book to get here! Loved it just as much as the first two, and though I missed the memo on there being a fourth book, I'm glad that I'm not saying goodbye to all the wonderful characters just yet. I truly haven't read a YA series like this one. Its full of jam-packed imagination and wicked creatures galore! Where does one get so many ideas and learn to mesh them together so well? Amy Bartol knows, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for the fourth installment!

Oh, my -- so Russell and Brownie end up being tortured by an Ifrit which the Power angels are helpless to fight. Russell sends a clone to Evie who is in China with her Angel army. Brennus finds her there and sends her friend Molly in to try and reason with her to come back to him.

Undines (super sexy mermaid type women with magic who can fight an Ifrit) are called into to China; Sephira is clingy and has a past with Reed. Evanually, Sephira double crosses Evie to separate her and Reed. She is kidnapped by Brennus for a time and evanually escapes to fly away (poorly) and track down the Ifrit torturing Russell and Brownie. After finding them, she is ready to sacrifice herself until Brennus shows up puts the Ifrit in it's place. Brennus tells Evie he wants Persephone (from her portrait) and that he will save her friends if she agrees to live with him. Evie bargains back that the true Persephone spent 6 months with Hades. Brennus then proposes that their lives will be intertwined so that anyone who hurts Brennus will also hurt Evie while they are together -- this means that Reed cannot hunt Brennus for those 6 months. However, the contract is severed if any of the Gacanaugh bite Evie.

Evantually, Reed, Russell, and Zee find ways to visit Evie while with Brennus -- although she cannot speak or look at Reed b/c of Brennus's magic. Brennus and Reed have a standoff over Evie while discussing the Fallen Archangel Casimir and his army of Weree who are infiltrating Brennus's lair. Reed agrees to help Brennus in order to protect Evie. Evantually, Brennus finds a portal sent to Evie by Casimir and he learns their history and how to use them --- some serious foreshadowing here. As a birthday gift to Evie from Brennus he finds her anger father for her, Tau. Also, during one of Brennus's seduction sessions where Evie is almost giving in, Russell's clone bursts in to interrupt everything. Brennus informs Russell that he's aware that they captured one of his soldiers in the hopes that he will bite Evie, thus severing the contract and then will be killed immediately.

Evantually, Casimir comes to the castle and begins torturing Brennus/Evie. Brennus says she may break the contract if she chooses; eventually she does in order to save Finn who is being tortured by Casimir -- Evie loves Brennus and the fellas. After a battle, Casimir has Evie outside the castle when they are intercepted by Reed; Casimir is killed and Evie and Reed escape to Zee's island. The gang is reunited and Evie and Reed are finally together.

I love this series! A lot of the reviews state that these books keep getting better and that is very true.
Fast paced, can't put the book down action. Raw, intense, primal interactions between the angels is so damn hot!
The author also brilliantly eases you, book by book, into their world. By book #3, yes-- portals, demons with creature skins suits, magic, mermaids.... it is all acceptable now. It all makes total sense in their world.
Team Reed.

Another action packed instalment of The Premonition series. I'm really enjoying this. I love Evie as leading character. She's strong but at the same time broken. She's funny and crazy loyal. I'm still not convinced on Reed. He's just so serious. I'd like to see more humour from him, like we get from pretty much all of the other male characters. I've got to admit... I'm still loving Brennus. I'm not sure what that says about me but I don't even care.

Amy Bartol keeps out-doing herself with each book and just when I think it’s impossible to get any better, it does!!

There is much more drama and action, and yes, it all stems from Evie leaving Reed! Really? Did she not get it the first time? But noooooo, she had to save Russell! I swear, Russell is going to be the death of me! And by saving him, she made a deal with Brennus. That’s right, he was all up in her grill and I loved every minute of it!!

During her time with Brennus she realizes that she does care for him and craves him but not exactly in the same way she does Reed. It’s different. She has both of their blood within her and she’s connected to each of them. The love she has for Brennus is dark and I’m not quite sure that I can explain it without reciting the entire book! But this might help…

“How can I possibly describe what I feel for you, Brennus?” I ask, shaking my head and feeling the painful ache inside of me. “This isn’t like the love I have felt before. Whatever it is, it’s painful. If this is love, then I love you the way creatures like us ought to be loved – secretly and unwillingly, within the dark shadow between my heart and soul.”

Is that heart breaking or what?? The sad part of all of this is, Brennus is madly in love with her and he’s willing to sacrifice his own life for her. That’s totally bad-ass and swoon worthy! I’ve fallen madly in love with Brennus and secretly I was rooting for him too. Go ahead and gasp…I’m not ashamed to admit that Brennus is my new book boyfriend! Don’t get me wrong, I love Reed too but there is something dangerous and alluring about the King of Gancanagh! Hell, I’ll be his queen any day!

Evie does make her way back to Reed but then there is the whole Russell nonsense that just won’t go away! UGGHHHH! What's made very clear is her love for Reed and how right it feels to be with him.

This is the third book in the Premonition Series and it’s magical. *sigh* My imagination was stretched to the fullest and I was lost in a world that is unlike any other that I have been exposed to. Not only are there Angels, half-breeds, vampires but there are the Ifrit (shapeshifting demons), Undine…kind of like a mermaid but with webbed hands, Iniqui (a.ka. a demonic soul within a human host) Kevev (a.k.a. ogre), etc... You combine all of that with an intense romance and it’s simply, undeniably AMAZING!!

I’m Indebted to Amy Bartol for giving the gift of her storytelling and yes, pun intended! :)

Brennus is my new favourite type of stalker. I mean his persistence is a admirable at best. This guy will never give up. Until his last breathe (hahahha) he will have Evie. With that being said and Brennus and all of his stalkerness aside, I really love the fellas. I mean I know they have to do this against their will, they kill people, they have weird accents, sometimes I am completely lost as to where they are going with stuff but still I have found a place in my heart for them. Granted that place is below the divine angel but still it is there. Those guys made me laugh. They were very entertaining. I love how Amy showed us the other side and didn't let us just hate them right off the bat with all of Brennus is crazyness. Moving on to the Divine side of things. They are possibly THE GREATEST characters ever. They are just badass and loving at the same time. Just absolutely fabulous. All of them! Even the ones from Dominion. Just great. Last but certainly not the least. Evie. That girl is crazy awesome. Her sarcasm may just put even mine to shame. (too bad I am too vain to admit it) Her sarcasm may have come in handy while breaking the ice between her and that wench that wanted Reed. (PUN INTENDED). If you have not read this book yet, I suggest you sit your butt down, get comfortable and get reading. You will laugh, cry, and every fabulous thing in between. When you are done.........................you're welcome. (Like that? Stole that from the show "Awkward" which you should watch if you don't already)

Amy Bartol, you have taken over all rational thought with your new series. If there is such thing as reader's Stockholm Syndrome, then Amy was my captor and I had a serious case of it because this book hurt but I loved every minute of the bittersweet pain. An earthquake would have trouble making me put this book down.

It started off ‘averagely’, a bit like Intuition did IMO, but then ‘average’ for Amy Bartol is pretty stellar on the scale of YA book plots. Revie are finally together again and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The couple are holed up in a stronghold at the base of a snow-capped mountain in China along with Buns and Zee, bonded and in love and waiting for Russell and Brownie to join them. They say disasters strike in threes and that is certainly the case here.

First, word is out that a new weapon in the war exists (Evie) and everyone is out to get their hands on her first. Second, Evie mistakenly contacts Brennus, who informs her that he plans to come through on his promise to recapture her. Third, Evie discovers that Russell and Brownie have been captured by a very scary new foe – an Ifrit (supernatural angel assassin). This causes trouble in paradise for our favourite lovers. Evie is dying to find and rescue her friends from the Ifrit, however she doesn’t know where they are and even if she did, she has no chance against it. Even the Angels won't take on the Ifrit and that is some scary shit right there. Reed on the other hand is blinded by protectiveness of Evie and so he puts her on lock-down, shuts her out like the damsel in distress she is not and calls in Dominion reinforcements. Their competing objectives and mutual protectiveness causes massive rifts between Revie, some of which reverberate all the way through to Incendiary, but this doesn't shine a light to what happens when Brennus appears to reclaim his prize.

5 most (sad but) romantic moments (POSSIBLE SPOILERS):
1. Russell telling Evie to leave when she finds she can’t kill the Ifrit: “It’s enough that ya tried – that ya came for us”
2. Reed visiting Evie in Brennus’ bed and telling her: “Hold on to the string, love, until the current shifts and we can be together again.”
3. Reed tucking the Shakespeare quote between the feathers of her wing for ‘when it becomes hard to breathe’ AND Reed holding and talking to Evie and Evie not being able to respond to him. I don’t know who this was more painful for: Evie, Reed or me.
4. Evie’s soul speaking to Russell when his clone enters her in Evie’s tower where she lays after the Weree attack: ‘My soul speaks to him, pleading with him to stay with me – to love me to never let go of me’ and Zee literally knocking Russell out to get him to leave without Evie.
5. Russell kissing Evie on the beach.

Indebted takes on a really different feel to the previous books. Evie is not as bright and shiny as she was in the previous two books. Her time spent in captivity and confusing feelings for Brennus and the Gancanagh have created this growing darkness in her. Perhaps it is her vengeful, Seraphic nature coming through, creating a desire for vengeance and pain. Or perhaps she has begun to feel that she is on the precipice of good and evil. At the same time, Evie is much stronger in this book. She is learning to stand up for herself, even in front of alphas like Reed and Brennus, and is learning to fight. She learns some new and whacky talents, perks of being a half-breed, and goes from being “dangerous” to “lethal”, making herself even more irresistible to her male counterparts and foes.

The majority of the book was spent in the Gancanagh stronghold, which starts off as Evie’s prison but slowly becomes Evie's home. Evie adapts to her role as queen of the wild things scarily well, and she begins to develop an attachment to them that she can't quite shake. Many things tie Evie to Brennus. For starters, there is the STUPID contract she has with Brennus. SOOOOO ANNOYING. And then there is the fact that there is a new foe jonesing for Evie and Brennus may just be the safest place for her. More significant are her growing feelings for her captors, mainly Brennus and her personal guard.

I have an admission to make. I have a creepy soft spot for Brennus... Now I’m not rooting for Brennus or anything; I am fully on the Reed bandwagon. But Brennus really got to me in this book. He realised his mistakes with Evie in Houghton, um, you know, feeding from her, trying to kill her, steal her soul, etc, but he really, truly loves her and it was so clear to me here. The kid would die for her. That’s romantic (in a freaky stalkerish way). So. Pros:
1. He treats Evie like an equal and not as a damsel in distress or submissive wife. He lets her make decisions and treats her opinions with respect and almost reverence.
2. He does everything in his power to make her happy – once he gets to know her, he manages to weasel a way into her heart. Of course, with Evie, nothing is normal so it doesn’t take gifts, seduction and a crown. No, it takes a pair of runners, a great deal of patience and uncanny understanding and the ability to love her no matter what she puts him through. Oh and he has a pretty face.
3. He is highly entertaining. I especially liked his email correspondence with Evie. It was a lover’s quarrel of sorts, Evie’s email starting with “Dear Walking Corpse” and ending with “SO COMPLETELY NOT YOURS”.
Cons:
1. He is an UNDEAD FAERIE.
So yeah, still Team Reed. But I have a lil love for Brennus too. Just cos he’s dead doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve love.

Now, Russell. Russell just gets hotter and hotter in Indebted. I mean, he’s evolving FAST and becoming this superangel right alongside Evie. And he has such love and reverence for Evie, it is awe-inspiring the lengths he will go for her. But someone called Russell a damsel-in-distress in this book and I kind of have to agree. I hate myself for saying this, because it’s really unfair, but.... Russell is kind of pussy-whipped. Evie has chosen Reed. She is mated to him. And while I get why Russell can’t let go (and at times, Evie can't either), god I just wish he would man up and grow some. Sorry, Russ, but the competition’s got you beat. In saying that, I secretly loved the final scene of Indebted where Evie stands on the beach wrapped in a sheet. That scene was heartbreaking and painful and frustrating (what love square isn't), but at the same time incredibly tender and poignant where Russell is concerned.

Like I said, I must have some form of reader’s Stockholm Syndrome if the bits I enjoyed best about this book were the painful, dark, heart-wrenching bits of captivity and unrequited love. I’m a junkie and I need Incendiary yesterday. Please please please let it come out before Christmas because I don’t think I can cheat on Revie and team by picking up another book.

5 stars!!

Another author recommended this series to me, at the time, I did not know it was a paranormal. Because I trust this author implicitly, I downloaded all 4 books, agreeing that we would buddy read the 4th book. Anyone who knows me, knows I do not read paranormal. I have never quite been able to get into this genre. A few series have caught my attention and I have read them but not to the degree that Amy Bartol did.

To say I loved this series is a serious understatement because I absolutely adore this series. I was captivated from the start and read all 4 books in 3 days, I seriously could not put them down and as soon as one was finished I opened up the next and just carried on.

Indebted ~ Wow, things are definitely heating up in this instalment. The world has gone mad and every bad being in the whole world is after Evie. There is nothing they will do to be stopped and different beings are coordinating themselves to get a better shot at taking Evie down.

“You can either live above this mess or you can live under it. Embrace destiny or be buried by it.”

Evie can be annoying at times I will say, her persistent need to sacrifice herself for others is becoming a tad annoying especially as it always ends up putting them in more danger. Does she not realise by now that they will do ANYTHING to protect her!! I know she is half Seraphim and so has this incessant need to protect but please Evie, listen to the others for once. They have thousands of years of experience!! Argggghhhhh! But, because of this trait of Evie’s the situations that everyone finds themselves in, leads to a great story that has twists and turns that you will never see coming.

The scenes in this book have you glued to the book, I could not put it down. Every character is extremely well developed, even the bad ones and sometimes I even had a harbouring of love for Brennus and that takes some doing. I am still Team Reed in this series though, nothing and no-one I hope will come between this couple despite their best efforts.

“I would be here without any of that. I’m here because every time she smiles, its like Paradise opening up to shine upon me. I’m here because of the way she loves me with no reservations. She doesn’t hold anything back, but gives it all to me as if there was no one else like me in the universe. She has no idea that she alone is the unique being.”

Evie and Russell’s powers are evolving to something out of the ordinary and they are becoming a formidable foe, especially with Reed, Zee, Buns and Brownie in tow. It seriously takes all of this angel power though to navigate through this story. Together as a unit they are extremely powerful, but they are extremely outnumbered. Amy Bartol continues to take you on a journey that for me has never tired. I am totally and utterly hooked into this series and I cannot wait to get stuck into book 4. Now I am worried though as this is the last book that is out and I know that I am going to be wanton and needy at the end.

“I don’t know which is more difficult: going on alone to an unknown destination, or having to remain behind to watch the one you love leave. Those of us who have had to remain behind, we know that it’s a cut that never heals…it just continues to bleed – to burn inside of you.”

On that note, I will leave you with a brief summation. In short, this series is brilliant, amazing, fabulous, addictive and totally captivating. A story line that will keep you guessing, you can never assume anything as Amy Bartol will totally sneak up and bit you the bum. The twists and turns and plot curve balls will have you on the edge of seat, gripping the sides wondering where you are going next.

I want to see this series on the big screen, seriously, this series was made for the big screen. I often found myself at times picturing how a scene would play out on film in bright technicolour. The way Amy Bartol describes scenes in this book has your senses on hyper drive and your imagination running wild. In all seriousness, this would seriously kick some ass in the movies. It needs to be done and more importantly deserves to be done.

Amy Bartol, all I can say is you seriously ROCK! I have loved every second reading this series, never thought I would see the day where I love a Paranormal read, but this series did and has a firm place in my heart. I will be re-reading this series for sure.

I cannot highly recommend this series enough, for both paranormal lovers and those who have not tried or think they don’t like this genre. Be next in line to be converted, you will hopefully fall in love with this series as much as I have. Totally and utterly adored it!

I actually had to give up on this series almost half way through this book. I tried my hardest to really really like this series but I just ended up wanting to hit Evie in the face. There are only so many times I can read about her wanting to protect everyone she loves blah blah blah and saying how she wants to be with Reed but then takes off and tries to get herself killed to sacrifice others. Yes she may be this super powerful angel but besides her releasing her powers with no control, I have yet to read a part of any book where she pulls her angel pants up and stops bitching and complaining and actually does something useful. The only reason I even made it to the third book was because of Reed who I think is a great character and I feel bad for him that he got stuck with Evie because she makes the rounds with almost every other male character and Russell, I'm sorry but I can't stand him! In my head I just picture this huge doofus. Then there's Brennus who really should have been killed in the second book. To keep dragging his storyline out is just exhausting and the way the words are written for his accent and Russell's accent gives me a headache. You can alert the reader that characters have accents without having to shove it in their face. Anyways, from the other reviews it looks like most people enjoyed this series but I am not one of them.

ok first I have to say what is so good about Reed he's kind of reminds me of a love sick robot. That being said the rest of charaters in the series have a lot of personally it makes Reed easyer to take.
