"One golden sun, rising as I say, Thank you Allah for a beautiful day."
This is a simple rhyming counting board book centered around being grateful to Allah for the blessings in our lives. It's part of a First Steps Series by Fehmida Ibrahim Shah. This is definitely my favourite of them. I love books on gratitude and have come across very few (no?) Islamic books on counting. This book counts to 10, each number reminding this little boy of something to be grateful for. One side of the 2 page spread is the number and a picture of te object and the other has the verse on it with a scene (all picturing a little boy from the back with no face showing). Sometimes it's thank you for something obvious like "Three new toys, blue green and red. Thank you Allah, for the special Eid I had." and other times it's a little more creative like, "Seven bird flying, away from the cold. Thank you Allah, for guiding them home." The rhyming is mostly pretty decent with a really nice flow. Only one of the rhymes is a little forced (warm and cosy / creating me) and another a little too wordy to flow.
The graphics are alright but the illustrations themselves are a little amateurish. They very much look like they've been done on Paint. I don't know why but with the bright background, it kind of works though. I really like this book and my daughter enjoys it too.
Love this book, helps you really realise the importance of teaching your children to appreciate all things that they have been blessed with. Parents toys and more. Really recommend for every child. A rythmic book with many new words to learn and many new things such as sun and toothbrush and more.
