Wonderful fantasy world building

The characters were all thoroughly enjoyable and the world that the author has built was amazing. The plot was complex with plenty of smaller plots adding up to it. The combat scenes especially were wonderful. Enjoyed it.

When a strange woman leaves a Gifted baby alone in the woods Master Ursa decides he will give this baby the life he deserves. Little did he know, the fate of their kingdom would come to rest on the two of them. When Prince Baritt arrives in Draco a huge celebration erupts. With the marriage of Prince Baritt and Princess Nicolette a new peace will be forged between the warring kingdoms of Draco and Zandor. What the people of Draco do not know is that the Prince is not who he seams and he is hell bent on taking over Draco no matter how much blood he spills. When Princess Nicolette and Ursa find out about this terrible plot they seek the King’s knowledge and guidance but they are too late. The pseudo prince has already attacked and murdered the King. Ursa knows that Nicolette is next and leaves the kingdom with Meath, the baby he saved so long ago, to tell the other kingdoms of this treachery. As Ursa, Meath and the Princess wind their way through the lands they meet up with some friends and foe in an effort to save their Kingdom. Will they make it to Dragon’s Cove and warn Lord Marcus and Lady Jewel before the rumors reach the sea side fortress or will the barbarians, druids and highway robbers stop them from reaching Dragon’s Cove in time?

James Fuller has done it again, three books three rave reviews! Fall of a King: The False Prince is very different from the Unforgivable series but just as captivating. The shear amount of detail he is able to include in his writing without bogging the reader down is amazing! There are so many different story lines and views to the story it is an ADD kids dream come true (and I mean that in the best way. It keeps you really entertained). The good and evil portrayed so close each other and yet so distant is phenomenal. I have loved watching the characters grow as they take on the different obstacles in front of them and seeing the new friendships formed. Princess Nicolette is an amazing heroine and a girl I would be proud to know. I cannot say enough good things about this book without giving away some of its mystery. Please do not be scared by the page count of this book, be enthralled and excited that the next book in the Fall of a King Series is out soon because I promise you will not be able to put this one down!

This book just didn't do it for me. The plot was interesting and had potential, but for me the writing just didn't click. I was relieved when I finished it because I wasn't really enjoying it, and a little annoyed that it left with a cliffhanger because I don't think I'll read the next book.

First off, I am stating that I was given a copy for an honest review. There, now that that is done....whoooottt!!!!! I have to say, this was the highlight book of October AND November for me. Hands down the best Fantasy genre book I have read in a while. A few typos, but those don't bother me, I am quick to understand which word was meant. This is a sword and sorcery book at a wonderful level We have the requisite sorcerer, Ursa, his apprentice, Meath, Princess Nicolette at the heart of a plot to steal the kingdom. The battles are epic, the world making is just amazing, the characters are likeable (if not downright loveable!). There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but it is manageable. What did I like best about this book....there was so much that drew me in...I love sword and sorcery books, I love the coming of age aspect of Meath (he is being forced from a life of privilege to suffering on the run from the King's soldiers, Ursa just plain kicks ass! I love a sorcerer that isn't all bookish, can hold his own, and shows his humanity. Shania, Dahek and Zehava's friendship with Meath and Nicolette is priceless! I cannot wait for the next book to impress me (although 2nd books occasionally let me down) and see where Mr. Fuller takes the myriad of storylines that are showing signs of converging in a cataclysmic battle! Bravo James! Another book well done. Your name is moving up my must have list!

Audiobook review:

The False Prince is the must read fantasy epic of our time!

Containing elements of both Tolkien and Robert Jordan, Fuller weaves a tale of magic, adventure, and good vs. evil. Featuring a princess on the run, an aging wizard who has been framed for a murder he didn’t commit, and a young magic user that just wants to be free to love and be himself, this story has something for everyone.

I highly recommend the audible version of this book. The narrator does a fantastic job, even including sound effects that truly bring the story to life. I loved every minute of it and I can’t wait to find out what happens in book two.

The False Prince, Fall of a King (Book 1)
Author: James Fuller
Publisher: KDP
Year: 2012

I was captivated by the story from the beginning, the descriptive locations, the characters you see in your head. The wonderful picture James Fuller has created and a great choice of character names too.
This book has everything from the wonderful kingdoms, amazing characters, love stories, magical wizards, fearless warriors, battle scenes where you would believe you are there yourself. The combat scenes are something else and you can clearly see from his writing that James has first-hand experience in sword tactics. He is very much an outdoors activities person and loves archery too.
I could easily see The False Prince, Fall of a King as a series on Netflix. This book is a movie director's dream. I am not going to give away any of the stories but just to quote some beautifully descriptive passages:
“Through the darkening sky, they could see the torches of those who marched toward them - thousands of small lights making their way across the ground. As the enemy neared, the ground shook, and the stone in which the defenders stood vibrated slightly but noticeably.”
“Dawn was just beginning its assault on the darkness of night. Pushing eerie shadows back to the gloomy corners and hiding places they had emerged from many hours earlier. A light, morning mist drifted calmly from the cool earth, dissipating into nothingness before it had even reached the lowest of rooftops."
The book is quite long having 20 chapters, 448 pages in the eBook but once you start reading you will not be able to stop. The book cover is beautifully produced as are all of the author's book covers. The follow-up book is Brothers of Blood (Fall of a King Book 2) as you may want to buy both books together as I did.
The author has 14 books published in several genres from fantasy, dystopian, to paranormal erotica. He was born in Canada where he still lives with his wife and son.

This rating and review is for the audiobook version that Goodreads hasn’t yet discovered.

From the very first chapter, I was drawn into the world. I believed the characters, even when I didn’t like them. Many times I yelled at them while listening, as if I were part of the story. This is what I want from an epic tale. I want to feel like I am part of the story and both elated and exhilarated with each event. While I generally dislike cliffhanging stories, I’m invested in the story of Meath and the princess, and I need to know how Ursa handles Astiroth. My only criticism is that there were times the narration, particularly during heavy dialogue, slowed the action awkwardly, tearing me from the story and reminding me that I was merely a listener. This was even more jarring considering how well the mood was created using fantasy music and background sounds. Otherwise, I am convinced and can’t wait to “read” Part 2!

Lacking !I

This book was predictable and the main characters that were more like petulant children who ran around thinking more about puppy love then trying to protect a kingdom . There long hated enemy has completely tricked and seized power from within how know one has caught on is the insane part . A predictable story Line to weak antagonists this author butchered a simple idea into something corny and not well thought out like if he was in a hurry to Finish this book . I really wanted this author to give more information on the magic system and the world he built but unfortunately he didn't just jammed in there I in good faith can not recommend this book to anyone it's lackluster at best hopefully you might like it if your a real trooper !!

This is a spectacular and fun story. I fall in love with the character, world, and story from the first line in this book. The story is captivating and exciting. It has the right amount of adventure, politic, intrigue and magic to keep my and many people interested through out the whole things. It also has a slight shade of dark and darkness to goes with the light hearted adventure. It is a spectacular and fun read. I can't wait to read the next book and many other books by James.

The False Prince is an excellent read by the very talented author and storyteller, James Fuller. In addition to his well-drawn characters, he includes favorite fantasy elements of magic, wizards, adventure, forbidden love, a princess who needs desperately needs help and an evil prince who wants her kingdom.

This is a thrill ride and I would absolutely recommend it to all fantasy lovers.

Fun story, full of adventure! I understand the author has since edited the Kindle version I read which should address any of the proofreading issues I stumbled across - regardless, I was never fully ejected from the story. I look forward to reading more from James Fuller!

Fantastic fast-paced, always moving.

It took me a while to read because I never got more than about 10 minutes to read at a time until I got to the end. But it was fantastic. It gave me Lord of The Rings vibes with the switching POV to the most important or most interesting POV at any given time.

I loved the characters and the forbidden love. They were all so unique and definitely my favourite part.

I also got emotional at the one massacre scene. I really felt for the characters in that position. But I understand why it was necessary to show the enemy's movements.

I'm excited to get to the next book, even if it may be a while because I know there are so many more secrets to be revealed and so much more action to happen and I want o know how the story ends and if we will get the happily ever after or not.

Definitely adult content, but it was enjoyable and realistic. So it's not for children.

Set in a world where people born with the ability to control magic are called the Gifted, this is a story of love, deception, and loyalty. Beginning with the arranged marriage of a princess to the prince of a neighboring kingdom, it follows a group of friends through a series of events that reveals that the prince in question is not who he pretends to be, and the downfall of the kingdom that they all have given their loyalty to. A book written on a large scale, and with unexpected twists and turns, this is excellent faire for any fantasy fan. There is a small problem with syntax and punctuation, but this is probably due to the fact that the author lives in Canada, and the rules for writing may be a little different from the US. But, that aside, this is an exceptional read, and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

My perfect fantasy adventure. Lots of subplots happening and slowly coming together. Great character build up. Great evil baddy. Okay, in a posh professional way, I mean good protagonist and antagonist, plus some annoying characters, which means the author's done a great job. A few monsters (fantasy creatures) might have been nice, but it carries well without them. Some magic thrown in which is done in believable tone.

The only thing that stopped me marking this a 5* was the editing. It's not the sort of errors that can be picked up on a spellchecker, someone needs to go through word for word but this does not defer from the enjoyment of a great book. Recommended to all fantasy readers, young and old.

I'm not one for reading about wizards and magic. I have to say with the way this book was written I will be reading more books from this author. He held me captive from the first page. I can't wait to read the next book. I love how he left you wanting more. I give it a 10 star rating but they only allow 5 star. Thanks for writing such a captivating book. ~Joan Callis (She Who Wanders)
