The transition from Joomla! 1.7 to Joomla! 2.5 is not horribly complex nor wretchedly difficult to understand, but there are significant differences between the two programmes. Joomla! is one of the three largest CMS (Content Management System) in the world. Its global use explains why all of the authors of this text are European. A close reading of the guide discloses many hints that English is not the first language of many of the authors. This text is not a true "beginner's guide" in that it assumes familiarity with earlier versions of the CMS (1.5, 1.6 and 1.7). A book like Stephen Burge's "Joomla! Explained" is a better basic introduction. But this book helps the user familiar with previous iterations migrate from those earlier versions to the latest stable release.
