Kya has just celebrated her 18th birthday when she receives a parcel and letter. What she is about to discover about herself will turn her life upside down.......but is that a bad thing? Discovering her abilities and keeping her wits about her, Kya goes in search, uncovering things she could never imagine existed within her normal world.....up until now. Kya learns that not everything she sees now is what mortals see as the same. Her world has changed, the people around her have changed.
The Essence of My Being is about a girl named Kya who on her 18th birthday discovers she is an elf and embarks on a journey to find her parents, then her boyfriend. The story is great, but there are so many grammatical errors and misspellings it makes me wonder how old the author actually is, or if they completed elementary school. Simple things such as constantly using was when it should be were, using the wrong forms of there, they're, and their; and constantly putting weather when it should be whether. Like I said, story is good, but if you're like me and get annoyed with constant errors, you might want to skip over this one and wait until it's re-written properly.
The Essence of My Being is a nice fresh take on paranormal romance that has been taken over by the vampire and werewolf triangle. It is more about elves and the coming of age of a young lady named Kya who has to find out that instead of being human she is of Elven blood. This is a fun book and I enjoyed reading along as Kya learned all kinds of new powers she has.
What a great young adult fantasy! I like seeing more stories about smart strong young women, and this book delivers. The inner struggle and the search Kya goes on is touching as it is dangerous. Kudos to Jean Price. I look forward to reading more from this author.
