Aileen Donovan is an elemental with magical control over water. When Aileen finds a mummified body at a scientist’s convention in Seattle, she suspects supernatural foul play. Her amateur sleuthing, however, isn’t the romantic getaway her human boyfriend, Colin, had in mind. Breaking into crime scenes and fending off black magic doesn’t really set the mood.

As more bodies turn up, Aileen’s insatiable desire to solve the mystery not only pits her against a serial killer, but also a cunning vampire lord, and an elemental agent with ulterior motives.

But the closer Aileen gets to the killer, the further she finds herself from Colin. Can she try to salvage their relationship and stop a murderer, or is she out of her supernatural league?

Angela Wallace has been penning adventures ever since she was sucked through a magical portal as a child. What she saw and whom she met gave birth to exciting and complex fantasy worlds where defying the laws of physics was a bonus. She has since come back down to earth, only to discover this mortal realm has magic of its own. Now she is quite at home in the world of urban fantasy, though believes that love, faith, and hope are of a stronger magic than fire wielding and sorcery. She loves gun-toting good boys, and could have been a cop in another life except real blood makes her queasy. She’ll have to stick to solving supernatural mysteries. Language is her pleasure, whether it’s weaving words on a page or lassoing linguistics into translations as a sign language interpreter. Angela is currently working on the next book in her Elemental Magic series.

As with the first book in this series, this one continues the stories of the Elementals. This book went further in introducing witches and vampires. As with the first book, the views of the author differ from mine and I was disappointed in her presentation of witches. Mainly in how witches came to be and how they are viewed by Elementals. Setting that aside, the plot was good with twists and turns that keeps the reader engaged. The characters from the first book continue in this one and new ones are introduced. Another good read to fill an afternoon or evening.

Our favorite elemental has gone and done it again! This time with Colin by her side, she meets up with mummies, vampires, hydras and witches. Just when you think everything is calm, the author takes you on a fast paced roller coaster ride straight to the end of the book and keeps you on the edge of your seat! Dry Spell will keep you longing for the next book. If you liked Elemental Magic, this is a must read.

This book kept me turning pages, wondering how Aileen Donovan and her entourage of humans, vampires and fellow elementals would solve the murders. The best part was I hadn't read Elemental Magic, vol 1, but I didn't feel lost. The next best thing was that this wasn't a book that ended in the middle of a crisis in hopes you'll buy the next book just to find out what happens. The story ends, but leaves you wanting more.

I absolutely loved the serial killer's struggle with her relationship with God in the end, though it would have been nice to see some of that struggle played out earlier in the book.

I would highly recommend Dry Spell to anyone interested in elemental magic in today's world.

I enjoyed the first book in this series. That said, I was extremely disappointed when vampires showed up in this one. I wish we had gotten to learn more about life as an elemental instead of heading off into cliche-land. I found so little to interest me in this book that I stopped reading about halfway through it. Very disappointing.

This book followed a similar line as the first book, but it wasn't done quite as well. Despite that it was an easy ready, quick and fun.

Read it if your an avid reader and pass if you're not.

I love the way Angela Wallace writes. Insightful, well-thought out plots, and characters who are believable. Great read.

Yeah, this was somewhat boring, just like the first one. Don't think I will read the next one in this series
