The Bourne Identity meets I Am the Cheese in this taut thriller

Even though Micah’s a star pitcher, his older sister Lindsey is the real deal—a runner so good, she has a shot at the Olympics. The two of them urge each other on, and are each other’s best support. Then the unthinkable happens: Lindsey is murdered, and Micah may have been the last person to see her. But he can’t remember what happened, no matter what their parents tell him, no matter what the police say. Did he witness his sister’s murder—or commit it? Can he recall the truth before his life is sentenced to end, too?

The mind is a fascinating thing. Denial, compartmentalization, amnesia; these are all ways for the brain to make you deal with unimaginable horrors. Traumatic events get blocked out until you're ready to deal - which is sometimes never. This is what Micah is going through when he wakes up and learns about his sister's murder, with no memory of her last day alive.

A very fast paced book with short, question filled chapters, I really enjoyed the mystery of it all, trying to guess what happened; Did he maybe kill his own sister? We meet Micah right away as a lost, confused character who's dealing with a tragic loss. Not knowing if you murdered your own sister who you love and never went a day without talking to is terrible to say the least. The way he responds to this grief is believable and deep-seated. It also brings forth different issues that we often see when people try to cope, teenagers especially; turning to alcohol and self inflicted injury, to name a few. I felt it was handled very well. We get access to his confused mind, making us understand his actions. Although I could easily detect his emotional turmoil, I think this could have gone even deeper to make it truly poignant; to make me feel. It lacked a certain emotional potency.

In his world we have Micah's parents, his girlfriend, Lindsey's coach, and a few classmates. These are all great supporting roles, and every time we have an encounter with one, more questions arise. Suspicion constantly deviates from one to another, making almost everyone a suspect in our minds. Except for his girlfriend; she's the rock, the one he can always count on, turn to, and who understands what he's going through. I really appreciated her role in the story. She's the "stable" character, making sure he stays grounded. Besides, staying calm and patient even when he makes stupid decisions is quite refreshing. I also enjoyed getting the inside scoop of the mind's workings by his psychologist father who spurts out facts about trauma-induced amnesia.

Even with all the doubting and back and forth between suspects, I wasn't entirely surprised by the conclusion. It's not very hard to put two and two together, at least to a certain extent. It doesn't make it less interesting, but I was expecting something a bit more shocking. It was an ending that made sense, though; satisfying but not astounding.

A quick novel easily read in one siting, Lindsey Lost looks into psychological processes of the mind when it has seen too much. Even though it didn't blow me away, it's filled with uncertainty and doubt that my fellow mystery fans will surely enjoy.

Lindsey lost was a great book, it held my attention throughout the whole book. I found myself accusing practically everyone in the story.

This book had me the moment I began. The author captures every detail and thought the character has and executes perfectly. With every page there was something new to be expected. New suspects, new thoughts, something that will get you stuck in the book.
I find that most mystery/suspense novels always make it too obvious about who the criminal is. In this book though, Every time I turned the page I had someone different to accuse, I even started accusing the police!
This book is one of my favorite books and I have read it enough times to memorize it and I'm still not sick of it!

Because this was a mystery, I thought that the person that was openly suspect wouldn't be the actual perpetrator. It's the father, I told myself, because he was telling untruths to everybody. What is he hiding? But lo and behold, I was wrong! It was exactly who was the obvious choice.

It was pretty depressing because the main character is pretty much a zombie throughout the story and the killer is exactly who you are led to believe they are, but the story was well written and kept me guessing because I didn't want to believe that there was no real mystery.

This books was beautiful.

First off, the cover is just gorgeous. It's the reason I picked the book up before even reading what it was about.

The book itself was beautiful. It kept me guessing and I was even doubting Micah myself through the whole book. It keeps you on the edge and overall was an amazing mystery thriller.

I wish this book was a little longer because the story line was so good!!

The whole time I thought I knew who the murderer was and after multiple plot twists you learn who it truly is at the very end 🙃 208 pages isn’t enough for a story this good🤪

Lindsey Lost is a short book but was filled with twists. Everywhere you turned a page, there was a new suspect and you couldn’t help but be a little convinced. A few times during the book, I was convinced it was either the brother or the father, because it made sense. I think that I would have liked a bit of a longer journey, maybe have included a couple points where Jonas had starred, even if he wasn’t the killer, just to put that extra twist in it. I do love mysteries and although I found this mystery a bit juvenile I still enjoyed it. I wasn’t surprised to discover the coach at the end, which I am okay with because I did question a few people, I thought for sure it would be Reed after what he said to Micah in the boys bathroom, but again would have liked to see more of him. I think some of the minor character needed a bit more light on them. I loved the scene where Micah gets drunk in the woods, I think that was a brilliant way to really understand Micah’s pain since it wasn’t extremely clear throughout the novel; Micah spent most of his time trying to solve the mystery instead of grieving and facing his suffering over his sisters death. Although I think the book was missing information, I do think it was a good book.

Lindsey Lost by Suzanne Marie Phillips is about a young boy named Micah and his older sister Lindsey. Micah is the baseball star of his school but everyone knows that his sister Lindsey is the all around star and is training for the Olympics. Everything is perfectly fine until the unexpected happens, Lindsey goes missing. While trying to figure out the mystery they find out that Micah may have been the last person to see Lindsey, which makes him a witness. But to add onto all of Micahs problems he doesn’t remember anything from that day. “”Remember anything?” Micah shakes his head.” (Phillips 39) This quote helps the reader understand that whatever Micah does he can not remember anything from that day. Micah is racking his brain about that day, but whatever he does he can not remember anything. What if Micah's memory never recovers? Why can’t Micah remember that day? Is it possible that Micah is more than just a witness?

I really liked the book Lindsey Lost by Suzanne Marie Phillips because of the suspense. I really liked how Lindsey goes missing very early in the book and then you uncover the truth halfway through the book and the rest of the book is trying to figure out who is responsible for murdering Lindsey. I felt that the plot of the story was very well thought out and quick so your not waiting until the end of the book to find out what happened to Lindsey and who is responsible for it. I also liked how the author described things so well you really felt like you were in the book. “Through the service, he listened to their tears and amends and felt the cool air of their breath on his neck. As they move past them now, they reach out and touch Mom’s arm, shake Dad’s hand. Micah feels a brief touch on his shoulder, he hears the murmur of his name and resists both.” (Phillips 56) This quote helps the reader understand that Suzanne Phillips used some of the senses to make things feel more realistic and help you picture what is happening in the book.
I would rate Lindsey Lost by Suzanne Marie Phillips a 5 out of 5. I would rate the book a 5 because I really liked the suspense and how she described things in such depth. I never wanted to put the book down. “And the loss-Lindsey lost like that.” (Phillips 128) When she used the title of the book in the book I thought it was very creative to use the title in the story. I think it helped you understand the meaning of why she chose that as the title. Using the title in the story helps you understand the book more and the impact that it made on the reader.

Lindsey Lost is a fascinating mystery that holds the reader's attention all the way through. There are plenty of surprising twists that are unpredictable.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

Micah is an interesting protagonist. He clearly loves his older sister, Lindsey, and when she dies he is torn apart by her death. He is barely able to hold together sometimes after her death. He can't remember what happened when she died, even though he has been told that he was there. He sometimes wonders if he could have been the killer, yet he can't picture himself killing Lindsey. Micah is a good baseball player, but he may also have been doing some things to keep his grades up that would keep him out of his top college pick. Micah also has a girlfriend, Vivian, and spending time with her after his sister's death really helps him. She is a good girlfriend to him, and she never believes that Micah could have killed his sister.

The mystery aspect of this story is extremely well done. Micah has all the answers to this mystery, but they are locked up inside his head. His mind has blocked the trauma of witnessing Lindsey's death. There are several suspects throughout the story, and it is interesting to see what their possible motives could be. Something is revealed about Lindsey later in the story that gives some new possibilities for motives.

If you like YA mystery, read this book.

Lindsey is a star runner with Olympic potential. Her brother Micah is a star baseball player. Their world revolves around their sports. Lindsey spends countless hours on the track even in the off-season, and Micah hits the batting cages to keep in shape. Together, they support and encourage each other.

When Lindsey suddenly disappears, Micah can't believe she is gone. According to his father, he was found unconscious in the driveway on the afternoon she went missing. The last thing Micah remembers was talking with Lindsey at the track after school. He knows she was upset but the rest is all a blur. When he tries to think about it, there are only glimpses of her running through the orchard.

The days that follow are filled with endlessly questions from the police, and then the unthinkable, Lindsey found dead in the orchard. First Micah is a suspect, then his father, and even Lindsey's coach Kelly. If only Micah could remember what he saw, he would know if he was a killer or a witness.

LINDSEY LOST is the author Suzanne Marie Phillips' first suspense novel. It is filled with twists and turns right to the end. I was happy to read on the cover blurb that she is at work writing her next thriller.

Ok first of all I am in love with this cover. I love the creativity in the 'font' they used for the title. In fact, take a minute and look at it yourself. Go on, I'll wait. What do you think of it? It's quite enjoyable when covers include non-typical fonts. Anyway, onto the book itself.

Micah and his older sister Lindsey are both strong in their sports, baseball and running, respectively. Micah is given more freedom then his sister which is obvious at the beginning of the book. He is worried about Lindsey who doesn't seem quite herself. The real question is which pressure is getting to Lindsey the most?

Wow wow wow. Such a good book. This isn't my usual type of book, but I was in the mood for a bit of a mystery and this one caught my eye. So glad that I picked it up. From start to finish this was a great read.

When Lindsey is found dead, no one has any clue what happened to her. Her brother Micah was the last one to see her alive and even he thinks he might have killed her.

Day by day this family falls apart a little at a time. As much as this is a mystery, it's also about a family grieving and that is handled beautifully. While there seems to be one obvious suspect for the killing, there are plenty of other people who you start to think might actually have done it.

This fast paced, easy to read novel is perfect for when you want to get lost in a book.

I received an ARC of this book yesterday at a fall book preview, started reading it on the train ride home, and HAD to finish it in one day! The pace was fast, the writing was clean and crisp, and I just wanted to keep turning those pages to find out WHO and WHY. This would be a great title for boys and girls, especially those who are reluctant readers because the suspense of the murder mystery will grab them and hold their interest the entire way through. The plot twist(s) crept up on me and surprised me - loved it!

Micah can't remember the last day of his beloved sister's life, and fears he may have killed her. As he explores his own possible guilt, layers of jealousy, admiration, self-doubt and abuse are revealed in convincing fashion. While the ultimate solution is a bit of a let-down, the narrative pacing, and the multidimensional characterization of Micah keep the pages turning. Good for fans of Lois Duncan, Graham McNamee or Lisa McMann.

This book drew me in with a fascinating story question: did the main character kill his sister? He doesn't think so...but a lot of evidence is pointing against him, and he can't remember what happened.

The writing was very well done-it had good pacing and made me want to keep reading. I won't spoil the ending for you, but I thought it was realistic (and I was only slightly disappointed because I wanted something bigger.)

While the storyline was enjoyable, the writing style wasn't my favorite. It's written in third person, and also present tense, which is uncommon and a little hard to get used to. I'm glad it didn't end with their father killing Lindsey, since that seemed to be the obvious choice throughout the story. The jumps in time were also hard to follow, as they just happened suddenly without warning. Overall, it was a fast, enjoyable read, though, and I'd recommend it.

Fast read but still thought provoking. I was hooked within the first chapter and could not put it down until the ending. I was a little disappointed that the parents were both so one dimensional in their attitudes toward their kids. But since I have never raised an Olympic athlete I am not really sure that criticism is justified.

Dear Charan,

I'm reading a book entitled Lindsey Lost by Suzanne Marie Phillips which is a work of Fiction. This book made me realize that life is not what it seems, that their are two sides right and wrong, because life comes with challenges. The character Lindsey is outgoing. Is able to stand up for what is right.

Finished it in 3 days, But this Book was good and was also written Well. It just didn't hold my attention. I know it's supposed to be about who killed "her" but the whole book was just Blah. I just feel like all the Chapter did the same things. The Ending was really good though. Even though i Rated this book 2 stars i still feel that this was worth picking up.

Enjoyable but a bit too long in the middle, other than that I enjoyed the themes and the nail biting plot. I did think the ending was a bit obvious but it still worked.
