A Howl In The Night

Rate this book
After a hard life, Taser finally lands a safe home and a loving master in an upscale Scottsdale, Arizona neighborhood. When a woman is murdered on his street, this Black Labrador suddenly faces the loss of everything he's struggled a lifetime to gain. Taser must find the killer or return to the harsh world of the county dog pound. He's aided by his buddy, Meatloaf, and a colorful pack of neighborhood dogs. They struggle with their limited human vocabulary and a fractured knowledge of the world. Other obstacles include new alpha dog rivals, old deadly enemies, and a menacing coyote population from the adjacent Arizona desert. In the end, Taser must decide how much he can risk to save his world.
This is a fun mystery narrated by the dogs, written for adults with a humorous tone and a love of animals and their quirks.

Taser & Meatloaf. Unlikely but adorable heros.

Taser & Meatloaf are a couple of Black Labs with a mystery to solve. The story is written by Taser. JK Brandon has done a great job of thinking like a dog. I love things like "the big white water bowl". This is a fast paced mystery. Well written and a lot of fun as well. If you are a dog person, you will love it.

This was a good story, but kind of annoyin' with the overuse of ' instead of a g. The parts in the pound with the blacks and the browns was kind of like doggie racists, with the blacks, then the browns with all their hispanic names.

Dog Smart

We all know our dogs are smart, but this takes it up a whole new level. Humor helps but my admiration for dogs makes this a great read.

Couldn’t stomach the animal violence

Loved the dog’s voice but there was too much violence and death of animals. Won’t be reading any more in this series.

The story is told by Taser, a rescued black Lab. Taser and his buddy, Meatloaf, endeavor to find a killer and enlist the aid of their friends from the dog park. I found the dog voices amusing and laughed at their reference to the "big, white water bowl".

This was so much fun. A real mystery, cleverly solved by Taser with the help of his buddy Meatball. The dog perspective of life with humans is so amusing, I had to read parts out loud to my husband.

Loved this book! It's the first book I've read where the dogs are the main characters and you are in their brain.
Loved the storyline and how they solved the murder down the street. I plan on seeking out more books like this.
