Oracle: Fire Island picks up where the first book left off. Ret, and his family/friends just got back from there journey to the Sunken Earth where they retrieved the first element; earth. The Oracle is still missing five remaining elements and must be completed to save the world. Ret and his gang must now set out once again to try to find which element is next and where it can be found. He is now having to rely on his friends for guidance but becomes overly worried about what is to come. Many new twists and turns will soon lead Ret on a course to find what he seeks but not without some trouble along the way.

Author C.W. Trisef has done it again and wrote another thrilling adventure through a unique and face paced urban fantasy world. As the second in the series I found Oracle: Fire Island to be much more developed and enthralling. The story went much more into greater detail and understanding about the elements. The book held my attention all the way through unlike the first one. A very fun read, and with the mix of new characters added in made the book to be so much more exciting and evolved. I really do love that there is a hint of romance starting between Ret and Paige. I hope that in the next novel we will see more of this romance in bloom.

Honestly, I was not sure what to expect from the second book in the series, only because after reading Orcale: Sunken Earth was not as good as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, I did not hate it but I did not love it as much as I did this one. I feel that may have been a good thing because it really shows how much more developed the authors writing has become in the process of the series. After finishing this book I am very much looking forward to finding out what will happen next. Even more so because the ending of the book left off on a HUGE cliffhanger. I was like "Noooooo!" I need to find out what happens. So not fair. O_o

All in all Oracle: Fire Island is a tremendous addition to the series and bring new life to this already magical world that the author has created. Very original and captivating, this book is one not to miss!

I was excited to jump back into the Oracle series with Ret and his friends. These books just appeal to my Science side and I am amazed at how C.W. Trisef can make the unreal make sense. I was awed by it in the first book and wasn’t let down in this book either.
This book picks up where the last book leaves off and rather than just jumping onto the next thing, it does a good job of wrapping up the last adventure. It’s not one of those instances where you wonder how nobody noticed this World altering event took place.
I love Ret as the main character but he is still got some growing up to do. I like though how active the adults are in guiding him. They give him insight that he needs to kind of figure things out. He is definitely still finding himself out and to me it makes him endearing. He’s not perfect he has flaws and that is something that I’m greatly fond of in characters. I also like the slow blooming romance with Paige.

What I really liked about this book was that the characters broke off into groups and kind of had their own separate stories. It wasn’t all of them together all the time and it was nice to have that. It gives some of the characters the ability to shine a little more on their own.
I have to admit I have a strange fondness for Ben Coy, he can be a really arrogant jerk but there is just something about him that gives you the impression that he is really looking out for the kids. It might also be because I want to live in his house! I love the planetarium! I found Pauline to be less annoying in this book. I remember her kind of driving me nuts sometimes in the first book. Paige holds steady as likable character for me and same with Ana.

The best thing about the plot is that there is so much that I find fascinating. I felt like looking up more information about Machu Pichu and Easter Island. I feel like it’s such a great thing to engage me as a reader in that way. I just find myself so fascinated with all of the different worlds that are created in our own existing world. I love all of the gadgets that Mr. Coy comes up with and I can imagine someone actually inventing them. On the back of the book as well as on the website there are pictures of Machu Picchu and Easter Island, plus a little history. Honestly, I kind of want to go there now…
Argh the cliffhanger, there were two parts to this one. It was one of those where I flipped a couple pages after the last one thinking, hold on you are going to leave it hanging like that. Well it did and now of course I have to read the next book.
It’s a series that I’m going to keep reading because the books have kept me engaged completely through both of them. I’ve never felt like I’m shocked that there is going to be seven books. I have really enjoyed the first two.

I’m also starting to be convinced that C.W. Trisef is floating around in an invisible hot air balloon….

Ret and the gang are back in action and the story is heating up! In the second book of the Oracle series, Fire Island, C.W. Trisef introduces new characters and an even more daunting task involving the next element to be collected for the oracle. The first book in the series, Sunken Earth, was a great beginning; a wild and intriguing way to discover Ret’s super-human abilities. Fire Island is written in a familiar style, with crazy antics and flamboyant characters, but even more witty dialogue and surprising developments!

Ret is anxious for his next ability to surface. When he finally gets a taste of the new fiery power, figuring out how the oracle works continues to be a mysterious and unsolvable puzzle. Two separate trips to South America lead to clues and a blooming romance. The romance comes as a surprise, but is wholly welcomed as it proves that the Oracle series is a read that doesn’t only appeal to action-adventure or science-fiction fans.
There’s more than just the mystery of the next element to look forward to. Trisef ends Fire Island on a note of unexpected revelations that put readers in high anticipation of the next adventure!

The Oracle

I really enjoyed this book! The characters really devolved. In my opinion it was better then the first on e. I recommend this book for ages 9-14. I started reading the series because the author came to my school and presented it. I'm happy that I read it and I think if you are into fantasy or fiction books it's for you!

Trisef takes Ret's adventure up a couple notches with this next book in the series. Ret goes through a lot of character development in this second book and begins to learn a lot more about his powers and how exactly they work. Definitely a great sequel to Sunken Earth that keeps you interested and engaged until the end.

Great book

It's fun and captivating. I just wish since my middle school kids were reading it didn't include such a high school romance.
