AN INDISCRETION by author Lynne Marshall is The Wild Rose Press release.

Carrington Hanover turned her back on her rich dad’s money and became a nurse. Then she meets Dr. Paul Valverde, who had a crush on the teenage Carry and had invited her to his prom as his date. But back then Carry’s dad had other ambitions regarding her and it did not include the working class Spanish boy. After forcing Carrington to decline Paul’s invitation, he accused Paul of stealing from his house. Paul ended up in teen detention center.

With this history between them how could Carry feel that Paul was still the most incredible man she’d ever met?

Now Paul was a successful doctor as well as a businessman. But could Carrington trust him? After all he did steal from her dad, didn’t he?

Paul wanted to take revenge on Carry yet the attraction between them doesn’t seem to abate. So he takes her to meet his grandfather. Is Carrington suitable for him? His grandfather doesn’t think so!

This tale is with plenty of heart, flair and sizzle. The chemistry between Carrington and Paul is scorching hot. And the past secrets make it intriguing.
Lynne Marshall has written a first-rate romantic read that will make readers smile as well as shed a tear. Paul had a tumultuous childhood and he had closed his heart to the possibility of love after being betrayed by Carry and her Dad. Could he love again? Could he trust her, and open his heart for her? Paul is a honorable man and darkly tormented while Carrington is idealistic yet fiercely independent and strong.

This is the story of high school sweethearts Carrington and Paul who were torn apart by the lies of her father fifteen years ago. Now thrown into each others company when Carrington comes to work at Paul's LA hospital, they must fight the attraction that still burns between them. Neither are in a position to develop a relationship at this time, especially with the lies and mistrust that are unresolved. When they decide to work together on a medical project that could change the way cancer is detected in older people the situation becomes combustible.
Lightweight at times and at others quite intense, the story keeps you interested right from the start. The characters are nicely drawn, the hot Latino doctor and the former rich girl redhead, seemingly opposites in many ways but finding common ground more and more as they spend time together.
A medical romance, the medical is nicely done without overshadowing the relationship between the Hero and Heroine. I occasionally got a little irritated with Carrington's obsession with a point of past history and a little disappointed about how that resolved itself but it was logical and fitted with the storyline. I think we are all a little irrational and quite possibly irritatingly obtuse when we are in love after all ;-].
This was a very enjoyable read and after making the mistake of dipping into the first few pages I had to keep reading and finished the book in more or less one sitting. Minor interruptions to feed the family not withstanding. Love scenes are infrequent and warmish without being overly explicit.

Nice story of second chances. I liked how both hero and heroine was portrayed: professional, ambitious and carrying. Their love of dancing was a double bonus...The medical aspect (not overpowering) was not as impressive. Working in the highly regulated medical field, I had a lot of reservations on the experimental pill story line but hey, this is fiction…

I picked up this book as a freebie on Amazon and I really enjoyed it. I’ve not read anything in this type of subgenre yet and Im happy I finally got the chance to. This story has some sexy dancing, hot doctors and gloriously hot sex scenes.

Carrington Hanover has a rich family with high ranking social status. As a young adult Carrington’s father tried to control her life with money. So when she became an adult she turned her back on all of it, went to nursing school, worked hard and earned her own way in life.

Paul Valverde is a successful surgeon working long hours at the hospital, works extra hours developing, distributing and marketing a new experimental pill to screen for colon cancer that he has developed AND he takes care of his elderly grandfather. Hes doesn’t have time in his life for relationships. Until… Carrington walk through the doors as a new nurse on his staff.

Paul and Carrington have a history together that ended to quickly. Paul wants revenge and Carry has trust issues when it comes to men. When they are forced to work together, will they be able to remain professional? Will they be overcome with lust? Or will their past get in the way of their future?

“Call him a caveman, but he’d claimed her that night.”

I cant begin to express enough how impressed I am with this story. It was very well written, the characters are strong and well developed and the chemistry between Paul and Carry feels palpable. The sex is really good and the way the author explains a simple kiss gives me butterflies in my belly. Its sweet, funny, intense and you feel what your characters are feeling.

I loved Paul’s character. I thought he was smart, sweet, has a kind heart and I want him to fuck me up against a wall too. Holy shit that was HOT! Carry was also great but she started to get on my nerves. I wanted to reach in my kindle and smack her across the face. She knows what kind of a person her dad is and why she kept letting that get in the way of her and Paul is just baffling. Carrys constant ‘I want him but I don’t want him’ and ‘let’s keep it professional but I want you to pawn after me’ attitude was like a cheese grater on my nerves. However, with that being said… we wouldn’t have a good story if her conflicting feelings were left out and she just jumped into his arms and they lived happily ever after.

“All thoughts left his mind as the sublime feel of being inside the hot and we world of his woman drove his ever-quickening thrusts.”

My only complaint is that I would have liked for Carry to confront her dad about the accusations. I wanted some sort of satisfaction of letting her father know that no matter what he did or how much he tried to control her, she was going to do what made her happy.

Overall, this is a fantastic read and I would recommend it to all my friends. I really enjoyed the story line and the sex was great. I loved all the characters and I especially loved the dancing part of it. This was smart, funny, sweet and sexy.

With their family’s high social status and impeccable WASP credentials, there was no way in hell that Wesley Hanover was going to allow his daughter Carrington to attend a high school dance with a boy of Hispanic origin. So what if Paul Valverde was of blue blooded Spanish origin.? Hanover not only refused to allow Carrington to attend the function, he accused the boy of stealing his money, ensuring that he was taken away by the police, in order to blacken his name. This type of insult is not easily forgotten.

Carrington turned her back on her controlling father a long time ago, after her mother’s tragic, early death from colon cancer. With a strong work ethic instilled into her by her nanny, she trained and worked as a nurse. A twist of fate has made her the assistant of the hotshot doctor and medical researcher/businessman, which Dr. Paul Valverde has now become. Now the shoe is on the other foot. In an even more ironic twist, Carrington would not be acceptable to Paul’s family because she’s not Hispanic. The couple have so much in common – they both speak the Spanish language and love Spanish food, dance and culture. They seem made for each other. Paul, remembering the insult from Carrington’s father, toys with the idea of seducing and dumping her, to avenge himself, yet he cannot deny that the attraction between the two of them burns stronger than ever.

The couple try – and fail – to maintain a strictly business relationship. Can they learn to forget the past and make a future together? Yet as Carrington works alongside Paul to promote a new cancer screening technique (so close to her heart because of the way her mother died), can she be sure that he loves her for herself, or for her financial ability to invest in his business? Does he truly love her or is he just another gold digger?

Lynne Marshall has created a thrilling romance which kept this reader turning the pages to the conclusion. This is a writer who knows how to tell a story. She also knows the medical world thoroughly. She conveys the tension of hospital life, the richness of Hispanic culture and the highs and lows of romantic relationships with tremendous skill. The distinctive personalities of the two main characters emerge strongly. What a power couple! A read which satisfies on many levels.

Favorite Quote: He’d learned early on about the invisible barrier between old society money and people like his mother who aspired to join the club. Carry’s father had put a quick and cruel end to their budding puppy love the day Paul had had the audacity to ask her out. He’d been falsely accused of stealing and led off in a squad car.

A very short read but with a very extremely powerful message about life lessons!

Three years ago a tragedy changed the lives of Ellen and Adam. Their once happy marriage spiralled down the deep dark hole of depression, anger, hurt and even addiction.

Thinking there is nothing left and forgiveness is the last thing on her list for anything related to her husband, she kicks him out, heaven knows the man won't leave on his own.

But once he's gone she realizes how much she misses him, but reminds herself she needs to strengthen her resolved and move on. Until one day at work a sexual encounter with Adam let's her just momentary forget how badly he destroyed their lives. Afterwards Adam asks the one thing of her she cannot possibly give, so she walks away. Then the unthinkable happens and she realizes just how wrong she was.

This was as mentioned a very short read, coming in at only three chapters, it took only twenty minutes to read, but it was the most intense twenty minutes of my day! The read was so emotionally powerful it completely blew me away with each and every word!

The author really made sure to take a quick story and give it all the heat and drama of a full length read. The characters are ones you cannot help feel sorry for and yes I cried right along with them both.

But it also made me stop to think what exactly it is I would do if I were in the heroine's situation. I certainly would not blame her for her reaction as each and every person handles a tragedy or life changing event differently and I also would not think Adam's actions strange.

I loved the message of this read! Never think it will never happen to you, and never forget that forgiving is the only form of healing that will truly matter for without it life will never be as it use to be, and anyone can make a mistake. Never only focus on your own pain. if you look at the other person involved long enough you will notice just how it has changed their lives too.

I highly recommend this read for fans of Lynne Marshall books! The author has once again shown just why her stories are so highly addictive even with a short read she still manges to pack one heck of an emotional punch, and left me completely in awe of her writing skills, most full length reads do not even always manage it so really truly stunning brilliant work Lynne!

America's traditional time to give thanks is at Thanksgiving. Here in New Zealand I and most kiwis take time to pause and give thanks at Christmas. So I was sitting here thinking OMG Christmas is upon us already. I started reflecting that over the last year I've been so privileged and thankful to be exposed to and to have read such a huge variety of books in the Romance genre by many fabulous authors that I'd previously not have been so quick to pick up and I've come to realise it's an absolute skill to be able to draw a reader in, make them learn to understand characters, develop plot, come to a conclusion and make the reader feel the deep emotion in just 29 pages!

Lynne Marshall's In the Blink of an Eye is a short story which is, well, short. Three chapters to be precise. In those three chapters we meet Dr Ellen Deeds who's an ER Dr, along side her ex husband Dr Adam Deeds. Unhappily divorced... For the first time in a year they're working the same shift and at the end of a demanding shift they let their guards down which results in a phenomenal time in the on-call room. Now this is the magic... somehow in three short chapters this happens, as well as Adam deciding he's going to go in guns blazing to try and win his wife back, a near tragedy happens, an scene in the emergency room happens, we meet the Dr's lil girl, Ellen's feelings are quite clearly made and if you thought that was all... there's still room for a twist that comes out of nowhere and was a real surprise to me and yet there's still room for more.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm blown away that what would normally take a complete book to tell Adam and Ellen's story, took Lynne Marshall three chapters and that over the year, as I sit here reflecting, I realise it's an absolute skill to do this. I had all the emotions in three chapters that I would normally feel in a full length novel... I was happy, concerned, worried, overjoyed, sad, ecstatic, excited, touched, teary eyed and I smiled.

I recommend In the Blink of an Eye to any novella fans, short story fans, Lynne Marshall fans, medical romance fans and anyone looking for a quick read, for 0.98c at Amazon you cant really go wrong, trust me, you'll have it read...wait for it... in the blink of an eye ;)

A heart-rending yet totally compulsive read which really should strike terror into the heart of any caring parent, particularly a parent or grandparent of young ‘uns. When I got a sense of what the book was about, my heart ached for Ellen, yet I was totally unable to leave the book until I reached the cathartic conclusion. The ending was totally satisfactory and left me with a sense of completion. No, we don’t live in a perfect world, but when the healing power of love does its unique work, there is some redemption available, some salvaging of healing out of heartbreak. That sense of overcoming heartbreak is at the heart of all good romance fiction.

Ellen’s unable to forgive her spouse because he made one little mistake which brought tragedy into their marriage. She still loves and needs him, but try as she might, she’s unable to forgive and forget. Then one day, in the blink of an eye, something happens which changes her outlook completely.

Recommended for readers of quality romance fiction. Or just quality fiction.

When nurse Carrington Hanover transfers to a new hospital, she sees Paul Valverde again for the first time in years - and now he's a doctor! The attraction is still there, but can they overcome the deception that drove them apart when they were high school dance partners and sweethearts?

I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this story. Paul had the responsibility of taking care of his grandfather, in addition to maintaining his medical practice and running a business for his medical invention. Carrie recently dumped her fiancé when she discovered he was more interested in her money than he was in her. She has turned her back on her father’s wealth and has vowed to prove herself by living on her own income. Both hero and heroine are strong- principled, likeable people.

As an added delight, the story includes beautiful dance scenes – not what I expected in a medical romance. They are so romantic and add a dimension to the characters that make them even more interesting. All in all, this was an entertaining book.

Then and Now

The first time I read this book it had a different title, 'Save the last dance for me'. The story hasn't changed from that one. She grew up in a very privileged family. Her father didn't like the young boy she crushed on, due to the fact he was not from money. He set the young man up and he was sent away. Now years later they ended up working in the same hospital. He a up and coming surgeon, her a surgical nurse. Can his wanting revenge derail the feelings that they both have? Will the truth finally get out in the open in time for love to win?
