Knowing how fervently I love A'isha RA, it's no wonder that I enjoyed this book. Although she was already one of my biggest role models prior to reading this, Reşit Haylamaz increased my love, admiration, and respect for the mother of the believers tenfold. This book is well-referenced and generally accurate, and makes me want to strive to be more like this intelligent, inspirational woman. I don't like rereading books but I'm considering rereading this one with the company of a few highlighters and pencils/pens to annotate and absorb the information more. I didn't agree with the author on her view of Aisha's age at the time of nikah, but that's okay. It is a pretty divisive subject. I had a bit of difficulty reading some of the chapters due to the sometimes disjointed writing style.
This book has a very detailed description of Aisha (RA) knowing that she had the unique opportunity of being the closest person to the Prophet (ﷺ). The book itself is very informative on the life of Aisha (RA) and that from a whole new perspective. As the reader I'm immediately drawn into the colourful relationship between herself and the Prophet (ﷺ). The writing is artless; and by that I mean it has a simple lucidity to it that makes it flow like water.
Overall, it's quite an inspiring book. It teaches us to be moderate individuals, to strive in the path of Allah. To constantly seek knowledge about our faith, our roots, and our background. But at the same time to never forget Rabb, the Creator and the Educator.
I found this book to be very beneficial and would definitely recommend this to all the readers out there
This book really help me to understand the woman besides Muhammad p.b.u.h. She was great as a scholar, faithful as a wife and also was very determine person who always seek the truth and justice through out her whole life. Reading this book inspired me to always be a moderate person who always seek knowledge and never forget Rabb, the Creator and the Educator.
A detailed, concise, well researched book in English on this personality. Less repetitive than the “Khadija” from same author. You still, at times, feel that writing and choice of words is amateurish/beginner-ish. But the research and content of the book overcomes it. Nonetheless, the book gets interesting and gradually you will be flowing through the book as you cross 20% mark.
Comparing this to Seerat-e-Ayesha by Syed Suleman, this one is richer in content as it references from more resources.
This book will draw a thorough picture of Ayesha(r.a) in your mind. Priming through multiple angles: - Her domestic life (as a wife, as a daughter, as a master, as a sister) - Her personal attributes (generosity, asceticism, piousness, humour, intellect) - Her relationships with people around her (the companions, the womenfolk) - Her knowledge of medicine-religion-poetry-geography, teaching skills, approach to address her students.
Only element that I think, wasn’t emphasised in this one(again, in comparison to Syed Suleman’s book), was the courage, جرّت , رعب, of Ayesha r.a , this book did not invoked/made me imagine this specific side of hers.
In the end, the author presents and critically analyses the controversial case of Ayesha-Ali, and the age of Ayesha r.a
Would Recommend to all women(specially all the ayeshas out there, KNOW THE RESPONSIBILITY YOU CARRY WITH THIS NAME!), from left wing to right wing, so they can find what makes a women perfect in attributes, correct in ideology. And also to men 👍.
Aisha (R.A) was truly remarkable! 🤍 Her sharpness and generosity captivated me. The book skillfully chronicles her life, beginning from her time alongside the Prophet (S.A.W), to her pivotal role after his passing. She exemplifies the qualities of knowledge, curiosity, and generosity that all women should aspire to. 💌 It's inspiring to learn about her, known as "the darling of God’s Messenger," and her dedication to both charity and sharing knowledge.🤍 A warm read ❤️🫂
WOW, i rlly RLLY love this book. it had me smiling from ear to ear & leaving me feeling so inspired by Aisha (ra). Alhamdulillah, last year i was able to immerse myself in Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)’s life & now reading a book from another person’s perspective of the Prophet was extremely refreshing & has made me fall in love with him even more. also, there were many moments in the book that gave me a better understanding of certain things that were done at that time & the wisdom behind them. overall, you will fangirl over this book & at the same time feel a sense of women empowerment while reading it. HIGHLY recommend.
A very informational book on Aisha (RA) and her life with the Prophet (PBUH) and the companions. This book reads almost like a story with consistent references throughout. Not only is this a good way to learn about her, but also a good way to learn more about the Prophet (PBUH) and the lives of those around her. This book made me understand her as an individual and helped me delve deeper into who she was and what she was like. I recommend that every Muslim reads this book to gain knowledge without being completely overwhelmed. I find that this book was easily digestible because of the way it was written.
I was expecting a modern academic style with comparative studies of various sources, detailed discussions on important events such as camel incident etc. However the book reads more like a traditional religious book. It basically conveys hadith and sunni opinions related to her, with constant praise for her and other companions. Assessing for that style, it is somewhat average. The content could be organized (chronological etc.) better, and repetitions could be avoided. The only somewhat academic part is the last part of the book related to Aisha's age at the marriage. That is where the author deviates from traditional sunni opinion and explains the possibility that Aisha could have been 17/18 or older when she married. I still find the discussion here lacking, especially with regards to how her direct reports about her age (9/10) can be reconciled with her other reports that indirectly indicate an older age.
Ok, can't leave it without a review. It deserves one, a slightly shorter but GAHH A female protagonist, who is strong, mindblowing-Ly intelligent with words and actions, At THE FRONT IN A BATTEFIELD WITH a SWorD. Um ok A thousand people around and being the only intelligent one to resolve a matter or clarify a minute question. Ok, The crazy thing about Prophet's wives is that (peace be upon him, May Allah be pleased with them all), they're like those female superheroes who've the kindest of hearts and the intellect *Ya Rab*. A poweful work of fiction with a crazy-strong female protagonist, on one side and AISHA r.a on the other. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• -lemme hug my phone, cuz it's a digital copy of the book- ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Now that i know, the above thing doesn't have any structure, cuz Idk, I'm happy, excited. The book has ended and i want ALL THE WORKS OF THIS AUTHOR. :)
A very interesting reading experience. In some parts of the book, I could smile and laugh a bit finding the cuteness between Prophet Muhammad SAW and Aisha RA. Yet, in the other parts of the book, I could admire her for her well-known knowledge about this deen.
This book does not only discuss Aisha the whole, but also discuss the situations arisen around her during her life. There are so many things new to learn for me through this book. It sheds new lights about Prophet Muhammad SAW, his wives, the Companions, and the general Muslim community at that time for me. This book humanizes them and makes me adore them more.
Will definitely recommend this book. A great and insightful reading.

(1) What did you learn? -Aisha RA’s characteristics: She was so inquisitive, always wanting to know what the rules were and the reasons behind them. Because she understood this deeply, she was later able to apply it by giving rulings. She was very human, she had feelings, she spoke her mind without being impolite. She was charitable, never wanting to be attached to worldly things. She was devoted to Allah and to the messenger SAW. --Some verses in the Quran were revealed specifically due to Aisha RA. The writer tells you the story behind the verses of tayammum. -She was instrumental in continuing the legacy of the messenger SAW. After he passed away, she made it her mission to teach others what she had learnt from him when he was there. (2) Did you like the book and why? -We loved it because it’s not just a book of facts. It’s written in simple language so it’s easy to read and it also conveys feelings so you feel like you understand her better. (3) Who would you recommend this book to? -Muslims of all ages: she was an exemplary scholar who balanced her responsibilities, didn’t cross a line that God has set and reached heights in knowledge. She’s a role model to all of us. --Parents: the book describes her close and loving relationship with her parents.
(4) How could it have been better? -The writer attempts to address modern issues in society but he doesn’t have time to develop this. Maybe the book should have been longer, with a section on this at the back. --There are a few typos…
(5) Some discussion points: -To see the human side of her makes Islam feel attainable. If we get to know the companions RA from this point of view, it will make us more empathetic towards ourselves and others. --The book addresses controversial issues such as her age at marriage. There are many aspects to this and one answer isn't going to be satisfactory to everyone.
I remember speaking to a friend about this once and she said when I read about her, I felt like she was destined for that life. I felt like things panned out exactly as they should have, otherwise we wouldn't have what we have today.
She gave so much to our rich and unique system of Islamic knowledge. There was noone else like her. May Allah be immensely pleased with the mother of the believers, Aisha RA, ameen.
Oh Aisha, a devoted servant of Allah, the daughter of Abu Bakr & The Darling of God’s Messenger SAW . Aisha is the only wife who witnessed a revelation as it came to God’s Messenger & She’s the only one who’ve seen Gabriel in human form and greeted by through Rasulullah SAW. Because of Aisha RA the verse of Tayammum was revealed (An Nisa 4:41) Her innocence & purity was recorded in Quran verse Surah An-Nur 24:11 (my favourite story of Aisha) . Being a wife to the Prophet gives her an advantage to learn & experience a vast knowledge of The Quran & Hadith extensively. On top of that i believe, it’s due to Aisha intellectual curiosity makes her distinguished. Aisha possessed inner nature where she “enjoyed questioning & contemplation” and becomes restless about anything until she get into the bottom of it . Though the book centred on Aisha RA, but i’ve learn so much about other aspects too. A glimpse of intimacy shared between the Prophet & Aisha makes my heart flutter ❤️ Introduction to the other wives of the Prophet & how they had treated each other left me with admiration. Learning about the 4 Caliphate & the ruling of Islam after the passing of Rasullullah SAW is such an eye opening. In short this book is rich with knowledge & i enjoy reading from the beginning till the end ❤️
I started reading this book two times but found it too romanticised and repetitive. Some Hadith I had already known before were written but in a way that would be more easy for a 21th century Muslim to understand but would sometimes romanticise too much. I like academic and precise, historically correct, books so this was bothering me. The book isn’t written like a novel though.
It is a good book. Discussing a lot of things and almost every aspect of Aisha's life. Slightly disappointed as it does not contain enough material on the severed relation between her and Ali. Still a very good book to read!
To learn more about the prophet's life, it is perfect book. One of the greatest sources of the prophet's sunnah is aisha and this book is telling much more things about her.
This is easily one of the top 10 books I recommend everyone to read. It beautifully portrays the life of Aisha (RA) — her upbringing, her marriage to the Prophet ﷺ, and her growth into one of the greatest scholars of Islam. The author captures Aisha (RA) as Umm al-Mu’minin (Mother of the Believers), As-Siddeeqah bint As-Siddeeq (The Truthful Daughter of the Truthful), and the Scholar of the Ummah — showing her strength, wisdom, and deep devotion to Allah. What deeply inspired me was her commitment to knowledge. She devoted herself to learning directly from the Prophet ﷺ — not only as his wife, but as his student and companion. After his passing, she became a teacher and source of knowledge for the companions and scholars of her time, shaping much of what we know today about the Sunnah. Her understanding of Qur’an, Hadith, and daily life made her one of the most respected scholars in Islamic history. Another part that stood out to me was her detachment from worldly possessions. Even when she received gifts like a few dates or clothing, she would give them away in charity. Her heart remained focused on Allah, her devotion to the Prophet ﷺ, and her worship. Reading this book not only deepened my admiration for Aisha (RA) but also made my love for the Prophet ﷺ grow even stronger. The way he loved, respected, and cherished her was truly unmatched — a relationship filled with mercy, gentleness, and faith. .
If I could have a mother like Aisha , I would be a better man if I could have a wife like Aisha I would be a better man if I had a sister like Aisha I would be a better man if I could have a daughter like Aisha I would be a better man.
She wasn’t just a figure defined by her relationship to the Prophet Muhammad she was a monumental scholar in her own right. It’s incredibly inspiring to think about how she embodied the roles of a teacher, a leader, and even someone who influenced the medical knowledge of her time.
She was not simply a passive figure in the background, she actively contributed to the intellectual and social fabric of the early Muslim community.
Her sense of priority choosing spiritual values over material possessions is something that might seem almost alien in today’s world. Yet it’s a powerful reminder of the kind of integrity and faith she had. And when we consider the modern debates about age and consent, it’s crucial to remember that historical contexts were very different. It’s not about imposing modern standards on the past but understanding the norms of that time.
In short, Aisha’s story is a testament to the profound role she played and the values she embodied. It’s a reminder that remarkable women like her have shaped the course of history and that their wisdom is still relevant today.
It's really good book. There are a lot of beautiful moments in this book. This book makes me so excited as I want to meet Aisha(r.a) herself in Jannah, insha'Allah. She is such a role model for us Muslim women. Another thing about this book is that it tells how the Prophet's ﷺ behaviour was with her wives and I have to say it's amazing, Modern men have to take notes and try to follow cause that would just solve so many problems. This book also tells the simple lifestyle that Aisha(r.a) had, very ascetic. Like she already had a simple living and she was so generous in giving, helping people. She was very intelligent, knowledgeable and brave. Through her we know about so many ahadith and interpretation of the Quran. At the end of this book it placed a heavy and evidence based case on how Aisha(r.a) age would have been 17 or 18 when she got married to the Prophet ﷺ. Keeping the historical context and Prophet's ﷺ life and character in mind there isn't any problem for me to accept either the famous number of age represented or the 17/18 number. There were so many gems in this book that I would like to revisit it again and again!
This Book was amazing. Aisha, our Mother Ra. has to be one of THE most important and inspiring people who walked this earth. I believe this book belongs on everyone’s book shelf. Not only does it include a beautiful love story, it also includes the importance of keeping your husbands legacy alive after he passes away. What role you can play as a widow in the muslim community. She was such a respected woman. People from all over Arabia came to her to learn from her because she was the best of scholars of her time. A selfless woman who wanted nothing more but to please her Lord and reunite in Paradise with her husband, the Prophet saw.
I originally bought the book because i thought i was going to learn about Islam more. Don’t get me wrong, i did. Mostly though, i was invested in the Love she shared with Rasulallah SAW. Reading it made my heart ache and fill up with love and admiration at the same time. I truly aspire to share a Love like theirs someday. When you’re really into the book, it almost feels like you’re a visitor in their time and you’re watching their life together.
Through the pages of this book, the author takes the reader on a journey to discover the greatness of Aisha RA and the invaluable contribution she made to the spread of Islam.
As I delved deeper into the book, I was amazed to learn how little I knew about Aisha RA and the pivotal role she played in the life of the Prophet and the early Islamic community. Aisha RA was not just any ordinary woman. She was intelligent, brave, articulate, and embodied all the qualities of a true Muslim woman.
The book highlights how Aisha RA was a scholar who strived for knowledge, while simultaneously balancing her responsibilities and staying within the limits set by Allah SWT. Her life is a testament to the fact that it is possible to be a devout Muslim woman, an exemplary scholar, and a role model for all, without compromising on one's values.
A wonderful book detailing the life of Aisha (R.A).
The biography pulls from a wide variety of sources and it is a personal nitpick, but I feel as if her fiery personality was muted in this book. My respect for Aisha (R.A) has been given new heights, the reader can appreciate the vast treasure trove of knowledge that Aisha imparted to us through her keen and acute observations.
The author also attempts to deal with the thorny question of Aisha's age when she married the Prophet (PBUH); it makes for an interesting read.
O Allah, our mother nana Aisha (RA) and the beloved wife of the prophet was indeed a remarkable, outspoken, intelligent woman and scholar. And also a role model to all Muslim women. I want to meet her in paradise. Moreover, I prefer the author's narrative style in this than in his other book -biography of our mother Nana Khadija (RA) Here the author didn't write it as if Aisha (RA) was a fictional character rather he was just to her character. May Allah accept his act.
A good book that describes a lot of aspects of Aisha’s (R.A.) life. Throughout the book, the author tells how Aisha (R.A.) used to deal with people asking for help in Islamic matters and in general. The book made me really appreciate ام المؤمنين. The writing and organization could have been better. However, I’ll definitely reread it.
I think everyone should read this to increase their Islamic ثقافة.
What an amazing and inspirational read! For anyone who ignorantly claims that Muslim women are oppressed needs to be handed a copy of this book. I didn’t know Aisha (رضي الله عنها) was a consultant to the first four Caliphates and led her own sermons. Her attention to details, memory, and passage of all she learned speaks volumes of her scholarly character. This book is one I hope to read again and again.
I expected this book to talk mostly of marriage, so I was surprised at how much knowledge of the companions’ lives I gained, as well as details of the prophet’s (pbuh) life. There are so many rulings and understandings we have gained from Aisha’s (RA) memories and understanding. She has really become an even bigger role model for me personally.
