"4.5 stars" His for the Weekend is a stand-alone, contemporary, erotic, romance novella. Marcus and Cassie have been working together for a while at Fantasies, Inc., a company devoted to bringing pleasure to its clients. Marcus is in R & D, where he works on the development of new sex toys, while Cassie is the head of the customer service department. They’ve shared an attraction for a while, but Cassie has been fighting it because she fears becoming like her mother, a woman who was so submissive that she ended up being abused by Cassie’s father who wasn’t a proper Dom. Marcus has been persistent in his pursuit of Cassie, and truth be told, Cassie is curious about what it would be like to have Marcus as her lover. When he sends her his latest outrageously sexy gift, she’s about to shut him down, but decides to make a deal with him instead. She’ll give him one no-holds-barred weekend but at the end of that time, he’ll stop pursuing her. Marcus agrees, but he’s so crazy about Cassie, he hopes that when the weekend is over, she’ll change her mind. Slowly and patiently, he works to tear down her walls and get her to open up. Cassie is surprised to find that she’s more comfortable with Marcus and more able to trust him than any man she’s ever been with, and he, in turn, gives her mind-blowing pleasure the likes of which she’s never experienced before. But when their weekend is up, will Cassie be able to be completely honest with Marcus, sharing her most deep-seated fear, and will Marcus be able to accept her as she is?

It can be difficult to develop characters in a short novella format like this, but I thought that the author did a very good job with Cassie and Marcus. When Cassie was old enough to understand the type of relationship her parents had, she started to fear that she might be a submissive like her mother, craving pain to the point of allowing herself to be used and abused. She also fears that all Doms are like her dad who was abusive, in certain ways, to both her and her mom. Instinctively knowing that Marcus is the type of man who likes control, she’s resisted getting involved with him, not wanting to lose herself in a BDSM relationship. But she can’t seem to resist at least giving him a one-time chance. When she finally gives in to his romantic and sexual overtures, she’s surprised to find a man who is nothing like her father and who is intensely focused on her pleasure, which for him goes beyond the bedroom. Marcus is exactly my kind of Dom, sweet and patient, gently pushing Cassie out of her comfort zone. He intuitively knows that she’s harboring fears and takes his time to earn her trust, always respecting her wishes when she uses her safe word. In doing so, he also helps her to face her fears and fully open up to him about what’s holding her back.

As my first read by Marie Tuhart, His for the Weekend turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. I thought that given Cassie’s background, her fears were very relatable, but once she was with a man she felt she could trust, she was finally able to get past them. I adored Marcus for being so gentle and patiently working with Cassie to help her open up. He’s not into pain, only giving pleasure in fun and creative ways, and I love that, for him, it’s not just about the sex, but also about setting a scene, including things like cooking for and bathing his woman. He’s just wonderfully accepting of Cassie and treats her like a precious jewel. As one might expect in a erotic romance, their love scenes are steamy and frequent, and in this case, oh so delicious! Marcus is a dream lover who is everything a woman could want. The only reason I marked the story down half a star is because the writing was a little rough around the edges with a number of typos and some awkwardly worded sentences that could have been smoothed out with better editing/proofreading. Otherwise, His for the Weekend was a thoroughly enjoyable read that has left me eager to try more from this author. Unfortunately it appears that this novella is no longer available for purchase at this time.

Note: This book contains explicit language and sexual content, including bondage and use of sex toys, that could be objectionable to sensitive readers.

Cassandra has gone through a rough childhood which is why she sees it fit to stay away from Marcus DeLuca, her fellow employee who’s been straight forward about wanting her for months now. His gifts, notes and flowers finally bush her over the edge and she storms to his office only to leave it having made pack to give in to their mutual attraction for sixty hours – a weekend.

Marcus has wanted Cassandra for nearly a year now, he wants more than her body and weekend of amazing sex, and he’s cooked up a plan to get her to fall for him as well. Not that he’s giving away the mind blowing sex, no that’s part the plan to get prim and proper Cassandra to unleash her sensuality.

“His For The Weekend” is one hot erotic romance! Talk about letting ones hair down! This story is full of emotions, tension and toys, oh yes toys, and lot of them ( but what do you expect from the R&D man of Fantasy Inc? ). The story is interesting, we meet Cassandra who’s had a really rough childhood where her parents were in to bdsm, the wrong kind, and she was punished as well, so she’s dead scared of falling her mother’s submissive footsteps. The story is mainly about her battle with herself to discover what she likes, and getting rid of some demons lurking in her past.

From Marcus’ point of view this is a love story, he’s fully in love with Cassandra and finally has a way to get her to rid her ice queen cover and reveal to her that she’s a sensual being and that there is nothing wrong with it. He’s motives are seduction, getting to know her and getting her to feel for him as well. But I loved seeing him gentle and inquiring about Cassandra and her past and what frightens her, it was truly sweet.

This is not a bdsm book per say, the bdsm that is in the book are the demons of Cassandra’s past and Marcus’ sexually exploring nature, but there’s none of the could be offensive, spanking, whipping or degrading.

Instead there is a whole lot of pleasure, make that with a capital P! Pleasure! Marcus is a fantastic lover, kind, patient, passionate and alpha male through and through, and with his use of toys like vibrators and feathers he’s quite inventive, and Cassandra the willing test subject. This book is definitely one sizzling hot read – even with the darker undertones, but like all good romances this has a happily-ever-after that makes reading Cassandra’s journey so worth wile. I mean I’m a sucker for happy endings!

If you are looking to read a sizzling hot erotic romance with lots of play, toys and an emotional hook then here you go, look no further!

The Romance Review

When will the Sexual Freedom Act be passed? Wait, when will one be written and brought to Congress? I want to work for a sex company like the one in HIS FOR THE WEEKEND. Forget the characters and the plot; I want access to this R&D group for Fantasies Incorporated.

Marcus and Cassie work for a sex company which develops all sorts of awesome sex toys! They also fulfill sexual fantasies. Ladies, get in line, because if this company were to really exist, I'm going to push my way to the front so I can be in their user test groups. That is, if I can't get a job there. Best job on earth!

This world Ms. Tuhart created is fascinating for me specifically because of this company. The sexual toys she tosses out are just teasers. I want more! I want it all. I feel like Charlie in the Chocolate factory except this one contains adult treats that I'd like better. Back to the story, it's a rather predictable; co-workers falling for each other but afraid to be with one another due to working relationships trope.

Marcus wants Cassie as his submissive. Cassie wants Marcus, but she's afraid. We've seen this before so there is no need for me to go into those details. What I would like to highlight was how Ms. Tuhart brought in the company's toys into their weekend together. It was hot and very smexy. I enjoyed Marcus's dominating side as he teases Cassie with some awesome prototypes.

While I didn't really connect with either character, I did enjoy their loving scenes together. They are a cute couple that everyone knows will work out in the end. Their interaction is believable. Marcus's sexual domination is just the right pace to ease Cassie into his fully decked out playroom. I'd be drooling if I could have access to his playroom. His thoughtfulness and wooing manner has me won over. I'm not sure why Cassie has such issues. Really, interoffice romances are pretty common nowadays. Still there has to be a bit of conflict. I enjoyed this new to me author, Ms. Tuhart. I can't wait to read more of her books. I recommend this story to BDSM readers who enjoy the playfulness of men who know how to use toys.

This was an enjoyable, quick read. I fell in love with Marcus and Cassie. I liked that Marcus truly loves Cassie and is patient to help her work through her fears caused by her father and her childhood. My only wish: where can I find a R&D guy who works for a company like Fantasies Inc? :)

I read this book about 13 yrs ago. It’s as fresh now as it was then.

The book summary and numerous other reviews lay out the tale. I really liked this story for other reasons:

Cassie grew up in a home with parents in a S/m (abusive) relationship which deeply scared her. The parents never explained - so much for letting even sexually “educated” parents help offspring understand their sexuality. The book describes it as a D/s relationship. I think the relationship goes far beyond that. Cassie is also scared by her father applying some of his sadistic tricks on her - absolutely nothing sexual in the father/daughter relationship, just mental abuse.

Cassie is tortured because she’s afraid she might be “submissive” like her mother. She doesn’t differentiate between submissive and being her masochist mother. Equally she doesn’t differentiate between dominant and the sadist her father was.

Marcus is described as being a dominant. He may be forceful and really want to play (he has a fully stocked playroom), but he’s all about maximizing pleasure. He’s careful, thoughtful, resourceful and highly sensitive. He adjusts course instantly when he senses reluctance. He’s a most gracious and thoughtful lover. And although he complains when Cassies turns the tables on him, he wisely decides to go with the flow and let Cassis be in complete control - and Cassis gives as well as she receives - it’s all pleasure for the characters and reader.

There’s some overblown drama at the end because after such a thoroughly pleasurable weekend, Cassie still hasn’t figured out either herself or Marcus. It’s a melodramatic HEA to close out the story, but that doesn’t really take away from the thoughtful, relatively short, underlying tale.

I would have appreciated the author delving into/discussing Cassie’s issues more deeply, and Marcus more fully explaining what he’s looking for, beyond being madly in love with Cassie who is “perfect” for him. I think a lot of discussion/education is needed before charging into a permanent relationship, but I feel the author did a credible job of revealing the issues for thoughtful readers.

Definitely 5 Stars

Soft Warning: this story commences with unwanted sexual harassment in the workplace. If this is a trigger for you, suggest you skip this story.

When I got this book, I thought it would be a quick steamy read about Marcus and Cassie and their intense weekend together, it was that and so much more. The story line is well developed, Marcus has wanted Cassie for over a year but she keeps rebuffing all his attempts until she agrees for 1 weekend only. They have intense chemistry and as they connect through out the weekend on an sexual and an emotional level, Marcus begins to understand that heartbreaking childhood events and past relationships prevent Cassie from committing and relinquishing control.

I enjoyed their growth as individuals and as a couple, while a relationship of mutual trust and respect develops leading to love. Great read and honestly much deeper and well developed than I thought before reading this book. Well Done!

To me, this book was a lot about extremes in the Lifestyle. And also, all about control: who has it, who’s giving it up, who’s abusing it, even who has none at all. Cassie’s history is heartbreaking. I’m just going to leave that there since it’s really spoiler-y otherwise. Her rigid self-control is both awe-inspiring and tragic. The patience Marcus displays while wooing her is remarkable. I don’t know very many people who would be willing to put in that much effort with no guaranteed outcome. My favorite part of this book is the way the author juxtaposed true “safe, sane, and consensual” against an example that kind of didn’t qualify as any of those three. I really enjoyed reading about these characters and I’d love to know more about what this R&D department is up to. (And why no one else is doing the same research.)

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Marcus wants Cassandra but she is resisting. Cassandra comes to him and offers a weekend only and he is leaving her alone after. Marcus accepts hoping to convince her to accept they are meant for each other. Due to her childhood, Cassandra has a hard time accepting but eventually does with his actions and the book she reads. However it takes both of them willing to finally accept which the boss doesn't accept for them to finally accept they belong to each other upon which, Marcus leads her back to his office and proposes which she accepts. I liked how patient and caring Marcus was in persuading Cassandra that they belong together.

Our hero has been after our heroine for a while, so when she finally agrees to give him a chance, he is rather pleased. But the offer comes with a strict deadline, so it is time to pull out all the stops.

This is an erotic romance with elements of D/S. The story is well written and easy to read with a pair of nicely developed characters. The hero and heroine has real chemistry, as well as real issues holding them back. The plot covers them testing the waters to see if they can overcome their issues and we get plenty of steam along the way. I found that I really enjoyed the journey on this one and I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

This was a very fun book to read as Cassandra is quite strong-willed. She is quite sassy as she tries to negotiate often with Marcus. And I love how Marcus expresses his thoughts and feelings on Cassandra. This was a very enjoyable story!

His For the Weekend is a BDSM read. I know I usually don’t mention the genre of the book in my review, but I needed to mention this because as of yet, I’ve not read a book where the dominant and submissive do the things that they do. I know this is a vague description, but I felt the need to mention this because I know it’s not going to give away anything regarding the story, and also I feel that this just needs to be mentioned.

These two characters are both complicated and multi-layered. I love complicated characters. They make me as the reader want to get to know them better, want to know what makes them tick, and want to root for them and hope that they can make things in their lives better. The male protagonist Marcus is a true dominant, he’s sexy, smart, determined and is aware of who is he, what he wants and has a handle on all of his emotional “stuff” that could affect his present life. He’s also the biggest sweetheart that I’ve ever read in a BDSM book. I know, a dominant who’s a sweetheart? It’s so true. I just really liked him. He’s flawed and he has emotional trauma in his past, but he didn’t let that affect who he is today.

The female protagonist Cassie is confused about what she thinks a submissive is and what a “normal” BDSM relationship is all about. When she allows herself to explore her relationship with Marcus and what this means for her and her preconceived notions, she learns a few things about herself and about what her future could be. She grows emotionally throughout the book which I love. Cassie becomes more comfortable about who she is and her feeling about herself and Marcus. I loved this book.

The two main characters of the story Cassie and Marcus both work together at Fantasies Inc. Cassie is in customer relations and Marcus is in R&D. He makes all types of toys to pleasure women and men. Seeing co-workers is a big problem. Marcus is ruthless and is in hot pursuit of Cassie. He finally gets her to agree for one weekend and he hopes that once he has her she will never leave him. They start off very slow. Marcus has many toys that he has created and wants to try on Cassie.

Cassie is afraid of turning into her mom, a submissive who is into pain. But what she doesn’t know is there are different types of doms and submissives. Marcus isn’t like her dad. He is very kind and when she uses her safe word he stops right away. She learns that she can trust Marcus. He won’t hurt her.

He does give her the most pleasure she has had in her life. He takes care of her by cooking and giving her a bath. Everything any woman would want in a man. She falls in love with Marcus over the weekend but leaves him before he wakes up. She plans to leave Fantasies Inc. so she won’t have to face Marcus but he has beaten her to the punch. He is already in the boss’s office getting ready to resign himself.

I loved this story. It was a short one but still had a lot of sexy scenes. It was amazing to feel how much Marcus cared for her and you could feel that through the author’s words. He loved her already before he even had a chance to win her over. Cassie has a great heart. She is very protective of it and doesn’t want to get hurt. She refuses to be anything like her mother and she isn’t at all.

I highly recommend this story.

His for a weekend is an odd story I must admit. I can't imagine anyone willing to bed a man for an entire weekend when you know next to nothing about him. It's dangerous and stupid. But in this case made for a good romance novel.
Cassie is a woman that refuses to let a man dominate her! No way no how. There is only one problem. Her co-worker Marcus is everything she vowed to stay away from in a man, yet this one seems different. She admits that she is attracted to him and decides the best thing that she can do is get him out of her system and move on.
Marcus is a man who knows what he wants and gets it. He hates the word "no" and wont take it for an answer. So when Cassie and him come to their bizarre agreement he couldn't be more thrilled. He now has her in his bed, bu now he has to think of a way to keep her there.
These two explore their sexuality and come to terms with who they both really are. The story was really strange and to me seemed really unrealistic but like I said earlier it made a good love story. I really enjoyed it either way. 4.5/5 stars.

4.5 Rating:

I really enjoyed this book! It is the first I have read from Ms. Tuhart and I won it as a prize in a contest in the Erotica group.

Marcus and Cassie were well developed and had great chemistry together. Cassie’s troubled past leaves her apprehensive of dominant men. What she craves is an Alpha man and boy does she get it in Marcus. I love his character; he is definitely a fantasy lover. If only every man was a compassionate, passionate, yet firm lover like this character…we would all be happy women! The incorporation of toys at a level that was comfortable with Cassie was well done and brought about so much more emotion as a reader.

The flow was easy to follow. There were a few issues that hit my pet peeve button which is why I couldn’t rate this a 5, but it is really a great story.

I absolutely loved this story...If only Fantasies, Inc. existed! *sigh*

Cassie has had a rough childhood experience seeing a BDSM lifestyle gone wrong. With this she is determined to not go down the same path as her mother. Though she can not deny the sexual need wanting to ignite anytime Marcus is in contact.

Marcus is Dominant and has an intense need for Cassie. They agree to a weekend of pleasure and though Cassie sees it as "getting Marcus out of her system", Marcus knows there's so much more. I loved how these two worked through the demons and how natural the control of each scene went back and forth. I would love to be Marcus's test subject with some of his toys! *yumm*

I really enjoyed this story about Cassie and Marcus, and not just for the extremely hot sex but also for the very intense emotional connection between the characters. Cassie is very much a sexual being but due to her past (which goes beyond the pat "norm" of most stories, it seems), she's afraid to trust and give in to her ultimate desires. Marcus - ah, Marcus. He's a very secure, confident lover who is willing to create a safe environment for his partner and let's Cassie go to the sexual (and trust) levels she is comfortable with. And he can cook!!

I can't wait to get my hands on more from Ms. Tuhart! Why did it take me so long to discover this author?

This is another book that was given to me. I had just read another of her books. This is similar the last one that I has read. It was a another quick read that I did not take long to read, but I am doing my best to let myself just fall into the world of the characters. I am just not sure I did it with book.
This is about Cassie and Marcus and they work together and this is their little journey into the BDSM in game. They seem to develop a strong emotion connection and work out what they want from each other.

This was a fun little novella, packed with plenty of steam and well-developed characters. All it takes is one weekend, enough time for Cassie to learn to trust a man, and for Marcus to teach her to trust herself. It's one very hot weekend that will change their lives.
