Practicing the Art of Leadership: A Problem-Based Approach to Implementing the ISLLC Standards Plus MyEdLeadershipLab with Pearson eText -- Access ... Allyn & Bacon Educational Leadership Series) by Green, Reginald Leon (2012) Paperback
Prospective educational leaders get practical help for developing a sound understanding of ISLLC Standards and how to put them into practice effectively. The problem-based approach uses realistic scenarios patterned on those that appear on national examinations to show how theory relates to practice. The author covers the full spectrum of educational leadership theories and how they apply to today’s actual classrooms and schools.
Not an easy read, but valuable. Full of theories, but easch chapter contains case studies in which the reader can see how those theories might be applied. It is a textbook and needs to be read as a textbook.
The only textbook for my current grad class, this was a pretty solid read. Theories were relevant, well-explained, and applicable. Furthermore, the inclusion of case studies and their analysis was very helpful. I also enjoyed the relfective questions included in each chapter. To be totally honest though, I didn't actually fully read every page. ;)
