I love animals and moved to the PNW some years back so I'm biased but I think this is a great guide of animals in the area. It was more tracking focused than I expected but I still found all that information interesting and it also had a lot of the information I was expecting, like habitat, reproduction and food sources. I know that from now on I will notice a lot more about the environment when I am out hiking, birding or anything else I do outdoors.
I can't believe I didn't know what a vole was.

I picked up this track and sign book when I was being evaluated by David for Cybertracking Certification. While focusing on the PNW, it is still very helpful for my homestate of Montana. It is laid out well with a great introduction for those learning to see tracks and sign. This is worth adding to your library.

Fantastic guide on tracking and identifying wildlife in the PNW. I live in northwestern Idaho right along the WA border and was pleased to see our region included with the guide, as we’re typically left out of other PNW guidebooks in favor of the coastal regions.

I skimmed and read sections of interest. I really like how it covers signs of the different mammals. It's an extra bit of information that will help me become a naturalist that I don't get from other books that cover mammals in the area.

I might end up buying this one at some point. Very informative and helpful to have when out in the field.
