Even after everything the Clan has endured, Angus has always held onto his scientific leanings. He isn’t a believer of instant attraction, so, he is surprised by the force of his attraction to Irishwoman Maggie O’Conner. He doesn’t trust her, but she soon become an obsession he can’t seem to shake.
A woman who defies every logic.
Single mother Maggie comes from a long line of magickal women, but she walked away from that part of her life. When Angus bursts into her life, she tries to ignore the handsome Scot, but soon finds that she needs his protection. She knows he’s not normal, but she never expected him to be the one man who could capture her heart.
A need they could not deny.
As they work together, their need for each other threatens to consume them both. But just as they close in on the next jewel, a new enemy emerges and puts everything they hold dear into jeopardy.
You know those books where you just KNOW you'll love them even before reading them? Can't say I expected this one to not belong in that category - I mean, I loved Angus in the first book, and I couldn't wait to read his story!
Turns out, I was right.
Our beloved hot geek finds himself a witch to fall for in his quest to retrieve the next jewel for the sword that will break the curse on the Lennon family. But Maggie comes with personal baggage in the form of her shady past - and a son who also happens to be some sort of oracle (?). He can't trust someone who used to steal for a living - and keeps hiding things from him. She can't trust a man after what her son's father did to her. Will they find it in their hearts to let the past go and learn to open up again? And what about the clan's enemies who are also after the family?
I simply love this series. All of the cousins are fun to read - even Fletcher, though he got on my nerves in this one with the way he treated Maggie. Speaking of Fletcher, if Logan's right about the reason he was being a jerk, I'mma flip! The banter was magnificent and simply hilarious, and the servants... well, you know my adoration for a particular old man in there, it's not a secret. Anice, my girl, was the only one who understood the reason behind Maggie's past actions and accepted her - the woman keeps getting more and more lovable in my eyes by each book.
By the way, I called bullshit the moment I saw how nice Gavin was. And I was right! I mean, come on!
It's Logan's turn next - boy, I can't wait! Let's see what his lady of choice will do to wake that artist up for good!

Somewhere deep in Scotland, A Cursed Clan is living. Wiped from memory of modern man, they are doomed to never die. Watching loved ones be born, age and die. Only these five cousins remain. But it seems finally they have discovered an escape claus.
In book two of her Cursed Clan Series, Melissa Schroeder tells Angus' story. A man of science who refuses to believe in magic and yet, his very existence is because of it. An interesting concept.
Maggie is a woman with secrets. Not the least of which is the fact that she is a witch with no powers. On the run from her ex's overly vindictive family all Maggie wants to do is give her son the best life possible. Only the past never quite lets go. When Angus shows up in New York, she has a choice...help the MacLennon family or keep running.
Angus believes in facts. He accepts that his family has been cursed because it's a fact..they can not die. Yet he has managed to avoid accepting the possibility of magic. Stubborn, opinionated and extremely loyal he knows tracking down the witch is his duty. Truth be told, he has always known. She has haunted his dreams for centuries.
So we have a family cursed, an iffy witch and the need to steal a famous jewel. It would seem that is enough. But Melissa Schroeder weaves a wonderous web of deceit and desire. Of ancient enemies and dark magic. The true battle of good verses evil has just begun.
There are at least three more books in this series as there are a total of five cousins and each book can be read as a stand alone. But if you do you will loose the chance of really understanding the intricate dance Ms. Schroeder is leading us on.
As I said in my review of Callum, A truly excellent story and I can't wait to read more.

This review is based on the ARC of Angus, provided by netgalley.
Acceptable paranormal romance. I'm interested in the rest of the series. Thoughts about this book: The developing relationship between Angus and Maggie was somewhat confusing as it seemed there were parts of the book missing. They went directly from dislike to super love in a jumpy and jarring manner. No smooth and developing love story. Very fated mate and insta-love. If that is your thing then this book is for you.
The name of the little boy was Jackson Michael. Very distracting because I kept giggling about that the whole time.
3 stars.

Magic surrounds the McLennan family as they continue in their quest to end their family’s curse. Maggie O’Conner may be the witch they need, but Angus Lennon is a scientist who believes in logic and facts not magic. But together will they be the answer to the next step toward ending the centuries old curse?
Maggie’s only priority is to keep her son Jack and herself safe. She will do whatever is necessary to protect those she loves from harm. Angus feels the same. Little do they both realize how intertwined their purposes will become. Will they have to make the ultimate sacrifice to not only protect the ones they love but to save their own lives?
The series continues with a more exciting tale of intrigue and romance. I would give this one 4.5 stars if I could. Each tale seems to grow in suspense and drama as the storyline unfolds further. The second story is as fast paced, but more engaging and attention grabbing than the first. The characters are well-developed, strong, and interesting. The narrative flows effortlessly with intrigue, emotions, and steamy romance. The underlying storyline of the series is compelling, and although each story can work as a standalone, it may be more enjoyable if the stories are read in succession. I strongly recommend you read this very enjoyable story and series!
Angus and Maggie star in book 2, but all the other members of the McLennan clan still play a prominent role.
A new romance, a new quest, and the joy of a little boy named Jack is added to the clan. More of the curse and the riddle of the diary is revealed. There is also more mystery, intrigue, action, and the introduction both the white witch and the dark arts.
There is more "Magick" in this book than in book 1. Jack, being a Magickal child is full of surprises, as well as being an old soul.
No worries. Angus and Maggie have plenty of romance and sexy times in Book 2.
More details of the curse are revealed. Along the way, you get romance, suspense, mystery, action, and a few steamy moments.
This book is not a cliffhanger as far as the romance is concerned, but the quest for breaking the curse continues in each book.
Each book can be read on its own. Each book has its own romance and it's own HEA. The family dynamic and the unraveling of the curse is the ongoing theme.
I really liked all of the McLennan's. They were fun, funny, sexy, snarky, irritating, smart, and independent. This was definitely 4.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
This is the second book in this series. The stories are connected, but each book is about another member in the clan. The continuous storyline is that each member has to find a missing gem and sacrifice something to get it in order to break the curse for the whole McLennan clan.
Angus is the scientist of the group and always thinks logically and doesn’t want anything to do with magick. Too bad his soul mate is a witch.
Maggie comes from a long line of witches and is a descendent of the witch who cursed the McLennan’s. She is hired by the ‘Lennon’ family to steal a jewel. She accepts the job because her son, Jack, tells her that Angus is there to protect them. “Jack had always sensed what was going to happen before it actually did.” (Direct quote)
I like the storyline, but there is a little too much of, “I can’t be with him/her” kind of drama. Angus and Maggie are attracted to each other, but they are both denying it because of things in their past or their current situation. Even after her son tells her that they will live in a castle with her new husband, she still denies her feelings. And then, bam, they are together, but wait something happens and they are mad at each other and then something drastic happens and they love each other again. At the end of this book Angus and Maggie are together and in love.
Such an a good book! Angus has had dreams for years of a red haired beauty. He didn't believe she was real until the day he had to track down Maggie. Maggie has been in hiding for many years. She hasn't been able to use her magik in years either. Until Angus finds her and needs her help. These two have an instant connection and sparks fly. I loved this book. Loved catching up with the rest of the Lennons. Jack is such a sweet and wise little guy. I loved getting to know him as well. I can't wait to read about Logan next!
An over 200 year old curse, a yummy KILT wearing Scot, magickal theif & evil stalking them, plus it's a PANTIE DROPPING HOT READ!
In 1746, Logan drug his brother, Angus, to the local witch & Angus' world was rocked to the core. This witch tells him that "When man can fly... a Redhead woman, plus 1, will test his heart & soul." Now it's 2014 & Angus, Logan & their Cousins Callum, Fletcher & the only female Anice (poor girl) are all still alive due to The Curse. To stop it, all of them, the whole McLennan clan, must reclaim a gem for the Bruce Sword & then they can actually die. Callum found the diamond & his wife Phoebe & now it Angus' turn to get his gem, an Emerald, & will need a little help from a magick woman & he really hates magick anything. Angus is a man of science & if he can't touch, study or learn about it, it doesn't exist. This from an almost 300 year old yummy man, so stubborn.
Maggie O'Conner lives for 1 thing, her son Jack. She will kill for her son & has been on the run (from Jack's Father's family), since Jack's father mysteriously death during a failed jewel heist. Maggie is from a long line of Magick women, but her pregnancy made all her powers burn out. Jack is 4, but acts like he is 80, has endless power running just below his skin, has visions that always come true & lately he tells her that a man is coming to save them. She has been living in NYC, working in a Pub, but feels the itch of trouble coming, so when a Pantie Dropping Scot walks into the Pub, she knows its time to run again.
Angus stares at Harriett (Maggie's fake name) with her boring brown eyes & hair, but when they touch a hot sexually surge goes their blood stream & kicks in their mutual LUST into overdrive. As soon as she is able, Maggie flees out the back door, but after she gets home guess who comes knocking. Jack flies to he door & says, "Sir Angus, you are here!" Mother Bear goes into protection mode, but all Angus does is offer a job of stealing the Emerald & she agrees to think about it until tomorrow. After he lives, she packs, but a huge man breaks in, Sir Angus comes to the rescue & with some magickal help throws the man out the window, but gets up & walks away. So off to Edinburgh, via a private jet (a Scot got to have style), they go.
Maggie & Master Jack are welcomed into the Lennan (their 2014 name) clan & plan the heist, but first Maggie has to regain control of her unexpected powers. As her powers grow, her hair turns curly & YES red & her eyes go to blue, green or blue green. Poor Angus only gains a white hot glowing LUST for his little witch, but fights it with his science & Maggie's lust is on nuclear meltdown. When Angus does make his move, he goes for her lips & a$$ & says HELLO to any available surface. Maggie breaks free of all her excuses & attacks her sex-on-a-stick Scot & welcome his lips, tongue & other Angus' parts. So they have a jewel heist to pull off, old enemies afoot, Maggie's sensual bites to Angus' lips, Jack's uncle rooming about, magick growing stronger in Maggie, a welcomed female siren, idiotic male family fists fights, Angus' inner caveman stalking Maggie, an mysterious & evil Benefactor, Phoebe mothering everyone, a loveable half fae looking for trouble & the 18 wheeler of pure LOVE wrecking both Maggie & Angus' world. Can Angus kiss his science to he curb for his little witch? Will Maggie embrace her true soul mate? How will they all protect young & powerful Master Jack? Will Master Jack get his dream castle? Please can Fletcher get a little half fae in his life?
This is my 1st romance read from Ms. Schroeder & dang it was a PULL THE FIRE ALARM HOTNESS read & I am hooked! Maggie is a kick a$$ & take no names kinda of girl & an amazing Mother Bear. I could feel her motherNESS flowing all around her son & that made me love her even more. Angus was an unusual Scot of his time (1700s) & loved science & men of science are stubborn & unbendable, but I think it just made him sexier. Ms. Schroeder gave birth to hero & heroine that fit together like a puzzle, but one of those 10,000 pieces kind, were you sometimes pound & pound, but the pieces don't want to fit. Jack was such a little old man with an ancient soul, but without him this story would not of been complete without his Fairy Goddude in-training. Ms. Schroeder build such a loveable clan with such different personalities that made each character unique, but so needed & this clan ravaged my heart & will never let me go & I am fine with that. I couldn't imagine or even stand to be with my loveable & difficult family for over 200 years because we would kill each other. All romance reads need passions, desires, no just plain super FIRE EXTINGUISHER worth scenes & Ms. Schroeder delivered that & more, so I was so glad my South Dakota coolness was aplenty tonight! But this story would not be a true Scot adventure without a KILT wearing Scot & YES Ms. Schroeder had yummy Angus wear his scandalous KILT to dress up the Emerald heist. So in case my romance peeps can't tell, I did drag out my KILT, wrapping it around myself, climb up the tallest steps (I just have a deck with step) & shouted to all in South Dakota, "I am the newest Melissa Schroeder fan & so should y'all!" I must give Ms. Schroeder my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes & throwing in my furry reading buddy's 4 paws!
I really enjoyed the story. It captured your attention for the first page. When the 2 brothers went to see the witch about breaking the curse. 2 hundred yrs later the brothers need to hire a witch to steal the emerald to help break the curse. And Angus meets the witch that is his future and the one he dreamt about. She has a son Jack that is way beyond d his years. A black magic evil spirit is after Maggie. Read the story to find out how they find ever after.
Melissa Schroeder did it again. Loved Callum, the first book in the series, but Angus is even better!!! It is surely a page-turner, the excitement, the sparring, the passion between Angus and Maggie is hot. Loved her little boy, Jack and Maggie's devotion to him. Can't wait to read what is happening next on the Clan's quest to break the curse! Thank you Ms. Schroeder for another great read!!!
I had listened to Callum a while ago, and you do need to start there for this series, but I quickly remembered everything I needed to enjoy this story! Angus and Maggie are both holding secrets, though they either figure them out, or have them outed, before too long. Instant attractions and knowing the other is ‘the one’ does not make them happy, but they figure things out in time <3
I'm not surprised that Angus and Maggies story was great as Callums. But, I'm going to say I think it actually may even be better!! The imagination and fun that is written into these stories amazes me! Great job Ms. Melissa!
The cursed clan of McLennon returned and this time it's Angus which will see his universe messed up. Callum's cartesian cousin, that which likes to make believe that he takes everything with a smile, that he is able to see everything coming in advance, did not expect to find himself with a sexy witch in his arms and his adorable little boy. Treasons and secrets, hope and curse, love and darkness, magic and prophecy, all that mixes to give us an explosive result.
Angus is a character whom I had appreciated in the previous book. His sarcastic, sharp-edged point of view who is at the same time disturbed is nice to follow. His borning feelings for Maggie, his powerful links for his family and his tenderness for the small Jack are touching. I acknowledge that per moment he somewhat irritated me with his lack of confidence for the beautiful redhead, reproaching her things which he makes himself. Just like Callum, he has obviously difficulties coping, revealing his feelings, what is amusing when we remembers of what he told him before concerning his relation with Pheobe.
Maggie is a witch exiled in the USA which lost her powers and which flees from her people. She is a woman who is wary of everyone and which is ready to do everything for her son. However we see rather quickly that she comes to be at ease with Angus, especially that she only wishes to strip him naked. She makes rather solid friendships with the two only women of the castle. It is pleasant to follow the story from her point of view, as a result to understand how the magic functions and to learn some things on her race. She's enormously hiding things and even the reader discovers the things gradually.
Concerning the supporting characters, it's with pleasure that we finds again Callum and Pheobe, which appear under new facets. Jack is to some extent the mascot of this book, he's just too adorable and yet he is sometimes more serious and mature that the adults. We remains still a little in the blur relating to Anice, whereas on the contrary Fletcher and even Logan reveal themselves a little. In the "Dark side", Dylan does not have any interest, he is just used as a footboards for a newcomer whom we does not get to like from the start.
Whereas Callum was used for above all to set up the universe, the characters and the principal story of the series, Angus concentrates primarily on the principal couple which form here Angus and Maggie, besides the discovery of the true black eminence. And yet we cannot say that the history concerning the curse really advances and yet that does not obstruct us. Because we discovers with pleasure the magic side of the universe, the existence of various types of magic and their importance in the future of McLennon.
Melissa Schroeder made her saga a little more interesting, which is strange to say when the story does not advance more than that. The romance between Angus and Maggie is really well carried out, pleasant to follow and the erotic scenes are well written and proportioned. The auteure remade gives it in the last pages, we don't know what to think, nor which would be the next one with having to fight for his love, for his family. In any case, I would read the continuation with interest and I have some waiting maintaining for certain characters now.
Angus is the second book in The Cursed Clan series about a clan cursed to escape death unless they can recover missing objects and make amends . Each member of the clan will be tested and this time it's the turn of the indomitable Angus. He's a man of science and has no time for magic and mystical goings on but he's about to take a crash course in dealing with witches! Angus needs to recover a missing emerald but in order to do that he has to follow instructions set down in an old diary. He needs a witch to help him take the emerald back and everything points to Maggie who is trying to hide from her past. Angus tracks Maggie down but things are not quite what he expected as not only does he feel a connection to her but she's been hiding a secret. This secret is four years old and goes by the name of Jack and is her son! When Maggie and Jack are attacked she agrees to accompany Angus back to Scotland but Maggie hasn't exactly been upfront with Angus. Maggie's past and Angus's mission are set to collide and it's a bumpy ride! I love the way this author writes and gives these guys an authentic sounding brogue but unfortunately this time I found a few lines that just didn't flow as well as usual and really wish it had spent a little longer being edited. It didn't ruin the book completely but it did sort of jar me out of the fantasy a couple of times. Having said that I thought we got a lot better story this time round as in the previous book "Callum" there wasn't really a lot of magic or paranormal really happening. Angus is the least likely of these guys to happily accept magic so it was fun seeing him come to terms with everything. Maggie is a strong character who has made choices that whilst hard she has learned to live with , she's a survivor. My favourite character has to be Jack who has such gravitas at such a young age! He's an amazing supporting character and I hope we see more of him in future books. This felt like a paranormal read although I didn't quite feel the love angle . The couple are destined to be together but it just seemed a little quick to me. The Curse is still a little vague in it's origin as the author continues to tease the reader with snippets from the past but we are certainly getting closer to the crux of the story and it's a fun journey.
I was given this boo to review for CONFESSIONS OF A BOOK LOVIN JUNKIE
This is the first book I have read from Melissa Schroeder. Boy I am glad I did. This book has sexy highlanders that are on a quest to get back. They are immortal and they have been through a lot . This is Angus's book he has always been the scientific one of the clan. He never really believed in magic. As they are sent on their quests to find the jewels for the sword. Angus and the witch he is to find and protect. Who knew that she would be his mate and have a son. Maggie has given up her magick to protect her son from the in laws. As they work together, their passion ignites and they can't take it anymore as they fall for each other hard knowing that they are mates , a new threat rises and will everyone survive the out come
This is a fast paced book, with loads of action, a lot of flirting , a hot sexy immortal highlanders . Ok let me rephrase that there are a few hot sexy immortal highlanders hanging around the mansion. Can you just imagine being around all that sexy Scottish highlanders and not want to faint dead away. Yes men in kilts so make me weak in the knees. Ok I will quit drooling on the computer keys now and continue with my review.
Melissa's characters well written , The men are hot alphas and the women who love them are kick ass. They can put those Scotsmen in there place. There are some really steamy scenes that will make you blush a bit , but hey all good book will do that I am thinking that my favorite character out of everyone is Jack. Maggie's son. He is so wise for his age. He has all the highlanders wrapped around his fingers. He can read auras and can read people. Some of the things that boy comes up with had me laughing and giggling. The way he takes care of his mom in a way that makes you feel so much love .
I am so looking forward to the rest of the books in the series . I am going to read books one tonight. The Clan has me in their grasp. A great book to read on a sunny afternoon while you are outside relaxing ,
The second book in The Cursed Clan series is a riveting paranormal romance with magic and sexy highlanders to sweep you off of your feet. Angus is a scientist and he doesn’t believe in instant attraction so, he is surprised by the force of his attraction to the Irishwoman, Maggie O’Connor. From a long line of magickal women Maggie is a single mom who finds herself in the need of Angus’ protection. As they work together to find the next jewel to needed to break the curse, a new enemy emerges and puts everything they hold dear in jeopardy.
The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps reader on their toes with lots of suspense, drama, romance and magic. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as Angus and Maggie fight their attraction and plan a magical jewel heist. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.
The attraction between Maggie and Angus radiates from every page and is obvious from the very beginning, but the relationship will take some work as Angus doesn’t want to accept that magic is real despite that he and his family can’t be killed and living under a curse and Maggie has a huge secret that keeps from getting to close to anyone. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the drama and suspense of the story and Jack, Maggie’s son as quite a bit of excitement and spice to the story as well.
I found this charming story to be enjoyable and entertaining although I do have to say that I did not read the first one yet and I think I should have because I feel as if I missed something, but don’t get me wrong the story was still very good and I am looking forward to reading the next one.
This is the 2nd book in the cursed clan series , I have to say I haven't had the pleasure of reading anything by this author until I picked up this series . I absolutely love the story line , It is a fast moving story line and manages to keep you hanging at the end for the next instalment . Melissa has done a fantastic job with the characters and makes you feel as though you are going along with the journey . There is nothing I love more then a great flowing unpredictable story line and this one didn't disappoint what so ever .
As the title suggests this one follows Angus and his quest to find his gem to help lift the curse . As with the last book this follows the same storyline , Angus must go bring a well crafted Witch to help them steal this gem , little does he know this witch comes with a very shady history that doesn't get ignored for every long. Maggie has a very demons in her cupboard and tries very hard to keep them there , she thinks she is doing a fantastic job until the very sexy highlander Angus Lennon comes in search of her help to steal a gem . She comes with a bit of baggage and isn't expecting to fall in love with the highlander. I loved this story . She is a witch and her son has special gifts of his own , Angus is a logical to a T , He has a very hard time understanding all about her . All the clan seem to fall in love with both Maggie and her son straight away but the stubborn Highlander is trying his best not to fall for the beautiful witch . This story is well worth the read as it has a little bit of everything in it to satisfy everyone .
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Clan continues on their quest to remove their curse in this romantic paranormal read. This one included a bit more magic than the previous installment which made it a bit more “paranormal-y.”
Maggie is on the run from her past. She’s done things that have forced her into hiding with her adorable son, Jack. Sadly, Jack has been forced to grow up quick because he’s magically gifted. Maggie, on the other hand, has lost her magic, until Angus shows up at her work. Based on the witches diary (from book 1), the Clan determined that Angus is the next one fated to complete his quest to get them closer to the cure. As the most scientifically inclined of his family, Angus is probably least likely to believe in the magic that they need from Maggie. Lucky for him, Maggie is a force to be reckoned with. She is a wonderful balance to Angus and his “Scully” tendencies. Their romance was really sweet and sexy without being too over the top.
My favorite character in this book was Jack. He was adorable and was mature beyond his years because of his gifts. I really hope that this growing family keeps getting more and more interesting characters. I’m especially interested in the new additions from Maggie’s friends and where they’ll end up (and how it ties into the diary!). This series is a great blend of naughty highlander romance and a great paranormal mystery.
Callum left me wanting more of the Clan and Angus was definitely worth the wait! This is the second in The Cursed Clan series. While both Callum and Angus are tough Scots, who wouldn’t dream of having a woman have any control over them, Angus is more scholarly, and has a bigger problem with the fact that magic even exists, let alone that he might have feelings for a witch named Maggie! The problem is, he needs this particular witch if he wants to succeed at his quest for the next jewel. Only with this jewel can he continue to break the family curse.
I love that Maggie has a son and that bringing the young boy into a house of people who have lived for centuries, makes them all feel, and act, younger. You see a much lighter side to all the family members. Bringing a boy into the mix was genius, Melissa Schroeder.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone. I never thought of myself as a paranormal fan, but the love story and mystery drew me in to this series! I can’t wait for Logan (Book #3)!
I’m loving this series. The Scotland setting, the immortal five Highlanders and the challenges facing each one is a delight to read. Angus was a personal favorite character after reading Callum, so I was thrilled to see the second book in the Cursed Ones series was his story. The author certainly did him justice in this book. Maggie and her precious son, Jack are the perfect match for the logical Angus. Angus is scientist of the five but has to incorporate magick in his quest to find the needed jewel for the sword to continue working on reversing the curse. This is how Maggie and Jack fit so well, they all three need each other. The suspenseful plot continues to thicken with a clever villain, though the story continues to be character relationship driven. One last thing Melissa Schroeder does so well is the complexity of the characters reflected in the secrets revealed from each one. This steers the many twists this series is taking. Like I said earlier, I love it.
I can't ask for anything more when I am present with a super hot, sexy, immortal 'Highlander'. I love Highlanders of any era. Schroeder has given me a man (& clan) that I can get behind and read to the very end.
Angus is a sexy Highlander with a scientific mind. He needs tangible proof. Instant attraction of the forever kind is not on his radar or in his scope of logic. This all changes when he meets Maggie. Maggie and Jack changes Angus' pov in a big way. He finds himself doing things he never before thought to do.
This ride is filled with ups-n-downs, ins-n-outs, all to make the quest worth the journey. Take it and you will not be disappointed. It is best to read the first book but you will not feel at a loss to start right here with Angus.
Schroeder give me more than one hot, sexy highlander to sink my teeth into. This may be my first read of hers but it will not be the last. I will most certainly go back and read Callum (bk1) in this series.
I loved the sexual tension that was between Angus and Maggie: He tried to sit up and winced. "Bloody hell." "Stay," she ordered. "I'm not a bloody hound." His voice was stronger and filled with male irritation. And I really did love little Jack he was just the cutest thing, "mum doesn't use her magick anymore. Not since my Da died. She says it was payment for a sin," Jack announced as he walked into the room, dragging his suitcase behind him. "You better pack, Mum. Sir Angus is going to take us away." Angus he is just a horrible flirt, "he stepped closer and his voice lowered the next time he spoke. "Funny you should bring up hormones and power shifts." I also loved his idea for shutting up his woman, "Angus, I said...." But she lost her train of thought when he pressed his mouth on her neck." I can't wait for Logan's book.
Angus was definitely worth the wait! While the Clan set out to solve more of the mystery of how to break their curse, they have to find a way to open their hearts and minds to the world of Magick! For someone like Angus, who needs to be able to have an meaning behind all that happens in the world, he is the first one to feel lost when his heart & mind can't explain what Maggie brings to their worlds! It was great to see the cousins interact. They truly open up the feel of the story and the togetherness. And they leave you wanting more of their stories. Callum and Pheobe had a lot of scenes together. This brought the books together. And it also let us know how life changed after Pheobe became such an important part of their family! This was definitely a great addition to the book!
After reading Callum, I was head over heels for these sexy Scots. I was not disappointed with Angus, even if I felt it was rather rushed feeling as opposed to the awkward fun part of Callum's story. Maggie, was a spunky loving mother and I adored little Jack. I like how this family goes through challenges like they do but still come out stronger. I do have to admit we didn't get enough on Magick but we are left with a good segue into the next book. I'll be looking for the next in the Cursed Clan series! This was a complimentary copy via Netgalley from the publisher/author in exchange for a honest review.
After reading Callum, the first book in the series The Cursed Clan, I was eagerly awaiting Angus and I wasn't disappointed. This is a great series. Angus' quest is to a find a certain jewel that is needed for the sword so they can continue to work at reversing a curse. He needs help to find and use it from Maggie a woman who has magick. I liked Angus' character very much. And Maggie was a loving single mom, she'd do any thing for her son, and was very feisty. I liked them both very much, they made a loverly couple. The story line was very entertaining, full of suspense and tender romance. I can't wait for the next exciting story in this excellent series.
Great series so far, sexy as hell highlanders ...wow..Callum was a favorite of mine but ill tell ya Angus is right up there...this series is so intriguing and mysterious, it keeps you on your toes. Love how the author writes her characters, they draw you in, their complex and riveting. Angus and Maggie are awesome together and love Jack and this is where the paranormal really kicks in. Great story from start to finish. The twists and turns keep you turning the page, so much going on and it's all good. I don't want to ruin anything but can't wait to read more in this series. Terrific story, well written, great characters. 4.5 stars Review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
Just loved this second book. This book is filled with intrigue and suspense. Angus is one of the immortal highlands who are on a quest to remove the curse that has plagued these cousins and Maggie has been on the run with her son Jack. Angus believes in facts, not magic. This is the scientific mind he has. Maggie on the other hand is his balance because she does believe in magic, and has lost hers. There is passion, but I wish the love scenes were more intense. Just my preference. I also wish these were longer, maybe the author can group them.
We continue the quest of dissolving the McLennan family curse with Angus. He has to put himself through a challenge involving his heart and stubbornness to earn the emerald for the sword. I fell in love with a cute little 4 year old, Jack. He's special and just the smartest person in their lives. This family is fun to read about with mystery, magic, love and sexy Scots in kilts. Next up is Logan.
This isn’t a case of opposites attracting as they have more in common than Angus would like to admit. I really liked the characters of Maggie and Jack. Melissa Schroeder has a gift for putting characters in stressful situations and having them come out better and stronger together. And though Angus isn’t the McLennan my heart goes pitty pat for he is one fine Scot.
It wouldn't have been possible to make Angus any more PERFECT in my book if Melissa Schroeder had sucked the picture of my ideal romance hero directly from my head...to say he's exactly my type is the understatement of the century. I'M DYING TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!
