Ersatz elevator might be my favorite in the series at least out of the first 8. It’s so quirky and a great tale of friendship and has the weirdest premise.

Most book series after they get past around the third book get rather tired and boring, but not these. I witnessed one of the young boys I babysit read the entire series in the span of a few months. Even as someone who didn't always enjoy reading, he tore through this series like nobody's business.

Yes, it's a children's series, but seriously, with all the "adult" books there are to read, sometimes I just like to kick it. Will the Baudelaire children ever have a happy ending? I'd like to know :)

I've read these books before with my son, and then reread them this year. Definitely one should read the first four books before these ones. I loved these books. Funny, exciting and wonderfully written. Fun for all ages. I do know of some children that found these books too sad, and even some adults that thought they were too dark. I prefer to just enjoy them.

3.5 stars. Dispatch of books is a bit more enjoyable than the first batch. Some of the situations are a little more realistic and the orphans finally escaped and are on the run. I’m excited to see what’s next, as I’m approaching the books I never read and a plot that is new to me.

And now for 5-8. 6 was good, 7 was the first one I ever read. Is 5-8 a decent collection? No. What a weird thing to have reviewable on goodreads.

Have read most of this series and love it. There was one movie about books 1-3, which was okay - big on special effects. The books are for about a fourth-grade reading level and introduce new words to the reader in a funny way. The kids are heroes who survive with their wit - love how the oldest sister ties her hair up when she is ready to solve a problem. Lemony Snickett resides in the bay area last I heard. one of those, its so evil, its good. kinda like the adams family meets matilda-or any dahl hero.

I hated this series for a long time until I had nothing to read one night. So this book was okay a little scary reading about a greedy stalker but all i can say is the author is good at writing depressing stories.

they were intresting but I believe that maybe they could have made it a little
more intresting than what they did. I think this because you get lost really fast
and it gets boring because they talk about the same thing over and over again

My youngest daughter loves these books. I find them pretty dark. But I still have to go back to see what happens to the children. Want them to find happiness sometime!

These books were alright, but they are very similar in each book with not much new happening.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I am very picky on books, so if I like a book...it has to be amazing.
