Cutesy, Blinky and Bob live in the zoo. But does anyone pay attention to them? No! All the zoo-goers are too busy gawking at gorillas, clicking cameras at the koalas, even staring at the sloth! That is, until these chipmunks concoct a full-on campaign to become the most popular animals in the zoo. But it won't be easy. No matter what our heroes try, it's hard to upstage exotic creatures like zebras and wallabies and poison dart frogs. And when this fame-hungry trio finally achieves the stardom they've been dreaming of, they may discover it's not all it was cracked up to be. Oh nuts!
Rising stars Tammi Sauer and Dan Krall have crafted a hilarious picture book for little attention seekers everywhere - and the zookeepers who love them.
Tammi Sauer is the author of Cowboy Camp (Sterling, 2005), Chicken Dance (Sterling, 2009), Mostly Monsterly (Paula Wiseman/S&S, 2010), the forthcoming Princess-in-Training (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), and something that's currently Top Secret.
Tammi and her family live in Oklahoma with one dog, two geckos, and a tank full of random fish.
it we all right. I liked Bob and the other two were weird. The story was about three chipmunks at the zoo and nobody paid attention to them. So they tried and tried to make the people pay attention but nobody did, everybody went "ah", and then they just dressed up as the other aminals.
The chipmunks at the zoo are tired of being ignored while zoo-goers watch the zoo animals do, well, nothing special. They try dressing up like the animals, starting a band while having spiked hair but nothing works. Finally the lazy chipmunk has an idea: they sneak into the Lion cage and act like the other animals. They eat grass, flick bugs and sleep. And the quickly get tired of the media attention.
A cute story that's truly laughable. But will fly over the intended audiences heads.
I found this story to be cute, but the illustrations chaotic--and I like bold, bright illustrations. But this one had my eyes trying to figure out where to look and it took a moment to process what was happening on some of the pages. I did like the ending, "the pigeons, however, had plans of their own." Funny. Not sure how well this would work in storytime...
Cutesty, Blinky, and Bob are chipmunks who live in the tree at a zoo. They long for attention like the other animals, but are ignored. They come up with a plan to get themselves noticed by the visitors. But when they finally get the attention they were craving, they discover it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Well, if there was a point to this story I think both my daughter and I missed it. I mean if I try hard I could say "be careful what you wish for?" but we were both still underwhelmed.
I love humorous picture books and this one is about the zoo animals. Read this one to your child and see what Bob comes up with to get the attention of the crowd from the giraffes and other animals.
Bob the chipmunk is my new hero. He just kind of sits there while his friends come up with these wild and crazy schemes because they want to be noticed. He just doesn't really seem to care about the outcome of any of this as long as he has a plentiful supply of acorns. In short, in life strive to be a Bob. Would recommend.
LOL! This book is flippin' awesome. Imagine the manic energy of classic Warner Bros., or Ren & Stimpy toned down in grossness for the preschool set. "Oh, Nuts!" is another example of a children's book adults will love, as well.
Illustrated by Dan Krall. This is HILARIOUS. Exactly my kind of humor. The local chipmunks at the zoo are tired of not having anyone pay attention to them so they come up with plans to get noticed. The illustrations are really what make this book great. They are SO funny!
Chipmunks Cutesy, Blinky, and Bob want the same kind of attention people pay to other animals who live in the zoo, but when one of their plans succeeds, they see that being noticed is not always a good thing.
This was a funny picture book about a trio of chipmunks who aren't getting any attention at the zoo. They go to great lengths to get the attention and then they are annoyed by the "paparazzi" and slide back into chipmunk solitude. Very cute illustrations.
"Bob pretty much just sat there..." Very Saturday morning cartoon-like feel to this bright and fun story. These squirrels just want some attention, so pick up this new picture book and give 'em what they want.
I thought this book was cute. Although it was not a very rich text, children will like the silly antics of these three chipmunks. This story also teaches a good lesson - be careful what you wish for, because you might not like it once you have it!
I didn't think chipmunks lived in trees. (Well, not high in the branches. I remember The Chipmunks living in a tree with a door at the bottom.) This was cute and worth a second read, but not one I'd read over and over.
A fun story, with plenty of exaggeration in characterization. Cartoonish antics lead to the eventual conclusion that the spotlight is not all it is cracked up to be.
Is fame all that it is cut out to be? Follow the story of three chipmunks who are jealous of the attention their zoo animal friends are getting and their antics in trying to grab the spotlight.
Cute story about some chipmunks who would like to be noticed by the public at the zoo, but once that happens they appreciate how their life was before fame.
The illustrations in this story are gorgeous. Kudos to the illustrator for bringing Cutesy, Blinky, and Bob to life. The three chimpkunks live at the zoo and want attention, so they dress up as other zoo animals in hopes of getting people to watch them. I gave it four stars instead of five because I would’ve preferred more storytelling efforts than solely relying on the illustrations. Because of this, my neice and nephew had a hard time following the plot; so I would stop to explain what was happening. Definitely a quick bedtime story.
