Warning: This book is in ebook format only.

I generally don't review books that are not available in only ebook format, but this one is good enough that I think it needs to be advertised a bit more. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review.

A quick summary: Caden Butcher's dad is an exorcist. A couple years ago there was some trouble with an exorcism - his dad ended up severely burned and disfigured and Caden ended up in a coma. While everyone thought Caden was simply 'sleeping', he was fighting for his life in Hell - fighting demons, learning their tricks and language and trying to figure out how to get back home. He spent a year in Hell before he got back. He had to fool around with a demon princess in order to get out, but hey, a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do, right? Now he's the exorcist to the stars, but he has a secret. But there's a demon on the loose determined to destroy Caden and expose his secret.

The writing is good and the editing is decent also. Since the story is dealing with demons and they're nasty creatures, there's quite a bit of swearing and some very graphic scenes. It's definitely for the older teens and adults.

The characters:

Caden - he's 17 years old, but his ID says he's 19 so he can travel alone without hassle. He's the sole supporter of his disabled father. He's got an edge, I mean, who wouldn't after a year in Hell and exorcising demons, right?

Dan - Caden's bff. He's funny, helpful, annoying and useful in turn. Sometimes he's not helpful and stubborn. But I still like him. He's almost childlike.

Aspen - Caden's girlfriend. She's a necromancer, just like her mom. Caden meets her 'on the job'. She alternates between tough kick-ass girl and giggly silly teenage girl. She's the only one that bothered me because I felt like she might be possessed and I just couldn't decide if she was or if the author was trying to show that she was human.

The story is defnitely good and I'll be reading more by Ms. Stokes!

Immediately after reading Tawny Stokes’s debut, Static, I just had to read her sophomore novel, Demon Whisperer. Though I knew it wasn’t related to Static, I fell in love with Tawny Stokes’s writing in her first book, and just wanted more of it. And let me tell you, I thought Static was good, and was completely unprepared for how much I would enjoy Demon Whisperer.

Tawny Stokes has created a brilliant paranormal world within our own. There are demons, witches, zombies, and all sorts of crazy creatures that occupy our world. The mythology Stokes has created for Demon Whisperer blew me away, and I simply cannot wait to read more about Caden, since I want to visit this world again, as soon as I can!

I already knew Tawny Stokes was a great writer when I began reading Demon Whisperer, but I had no idea how good she really was until I read the book from start to finish. Stokes is definitely an author I will be keeping an eye on, since I know how great she can be.

Caden Butcher was such a fantastic character. Sure, he’s kind of obnoxious, but that’s what makes him so much fun to read. He just doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him, which was awesome to read. The rest of the cast of characters was absolutely fantastic, and I can’t wait to read more about them in America’s Next Top Zombie, their next adventure.

I wasn’t prepared for how awesome Demon Whisperer was going to be, and I was blown away when I actually read it. Don’t pass up this awesome book that will leave you hanging on every word, and begging for more when it’s over.

Demon Whisperer was a highly enjoyable novel and it was excellent. There are a few demon novels floating around and the ones I’ve read I have thoroughly enjoyed. Needless to say I thought that Demon Whisperer was such a good book.
I really liked the concept of Demon Whisperer and I really liked Caden. I thought it was cool how Caden was an exorcist; it’s definitely something different to the usual sort of Paranormal YA I’m used to. Not to mention the protagonist is a male. I really liked Caden’s voice too. He was so full of himself but he was also really determined to fix his mistakes which I really admired.
The supporting characters were all really awesome and I loved Dan and Aspen. I also liked the cat, I always have a fondness for cats and in Demon Whisperer I made no exception.
Demon Whisperer has excellent pacing and I had reached the end in no time because I just kept reading on. It was really good. The whole time events kept happening that would either make things worse or just a tiny little bit better. Of course, that’s how things are when you deal with demons. One minute they’re friendly and the next they are your enemy.
Overall, I think that Demon Whisperer is a really good book and the ending was not how I had expected it to be. I definitely can’t wait to read the sequel I just know it will be amazing. If you’re looking for a paranormal about something other than vampires or werewolves then you’ll love Demon Whisperer.

I really like this book. Many different elements of this book kept me reading it. I loved that the characters is flawed. He is no perfect but always makes mistakes. I like how even how his past comes back to haunt him in a way I never saw coming.

Ms. Stokes presents the reader with an amazing and fast paced beginning that keeps the readers eyes attached the book and never wavering. I like how immediately I was able to fall into the characters shoes and feel his every emotions. I love it when authors can help the reader feel and be the characters. The main character, Caden has been through a lot. He is way more mature than most kids. After returning from being a year in hell, he is not the same. The premise alone is not what most books I read so it kept me very intrigued.

The plot of the book has good pacing. Never once did I waver from it or feel confused. I like that the reader sees Caden in so many ways. We see him vulnerable yet strong. Happy yet sad. Ms. Stokes gave me story with a great plot that I loved right away.

This is a completely different out of the box read for me but I still loved it. I was a little reluctant, but came to enjoy the book. Demon Whisperer is a dark fast paced read that will make your hair rise.

I thoroughly enjoyed Demon Whisperer. I liked having a male voice and tho' he is a little full of himself in the beginning, I felt connected to him throughout the book.

He is an exorcist that spent a year in hell while his body was in a coma. To get out of hell he had to make some deals and do some things he is not proud, but who wouldn't? His best friend is a demon and his girlfriend is a necromancer and his cat is more than just a cat too. As we all learn in life, many times our past choices come back to bite us in the butt. Caden learns this the hard way when a demon from hell comes gunning for him.

The action was fast paced and having a male be the main focus was refreshing.

I can't wait for the next one to come out because I'm hoping that Caden finally gets a few breaks...He deserves it. There are enough unanswered questions that you need to continue the story just so Caden can get some answers.

This is Earth, but not the planet we know. Demons take every opportunity to leave their diabolical world and possess humans. Sometimes they don't even wait for an invitation.

Frank Butcher is seriously injured in a failed exorcism and his son Caden lays in a coma for a year. When Caden miraculously recovers he doesn't tell anyone he has spent the year surviving in hell with the help of a demon, Dan. Caden lies about his age so he can do the exorcisms. What he doesn't tell anyone is the bargain he has made with Dan. In exchange for a life in the real world, Dan possesses the humans and allows Caden to exorcise him.

Caden has it all, a steady job, a girlfriend he adores - who's also a necromancer - and a demon to assist him in life and business. Then things start to go wrong. Throw in a zombie or two, the International Order of Exorcists and an unknown demon who is out to destroy Caden and you get a really brilliant paranormal story.

Inside Caden is a normal seventeen year old. To the people around him he's a nineteen year old with an old head on young shoulders. He takes care of a father who has turned to drink, he spends every spare moment with his girlfriend and tries to sleep as little as possible. Why? Because he's haunted by his time in hell and finds it hard to cope with the nightmares.

Although the problem is serious, Ms Stokes has approached it in a lighthearted way making her paranormal world seem perfectly normal. Caden tells the reader of his time in the netherworld, but we are there with him when he performs exorcisms, meets the zombies, discusses his problems with his girlfriend and fights the demon who is out to get him. I know readers often say they can't put books down because they're enjoying them, but in this case it is true. I read this book in two sittings.

Demon Whisperer has a hint of darkness so I would recommend it for the fourteen plus age group, but the lighthearted approach to Caden's problems reached out and drew me right into the story. Definitely a must for teenage lovers of the paranormal.

What a wonderful dark tale. Caden Butcher is your normal teenage exorcist to the stars. Working together with Dan, his demon and best friend they have a pretty good scam going on. Caden knows how to preform real exorcisms but the stagged ones are just too easy and a good way to make a quick buck. Someone has to support his dead beat alcoholic father. Caden has it made until one demon ask for him by name. After a blothced exorcism Caden discovers a demon has come from hell looking for him and it will not stop until he has been destroyed. Caden, with the help of Dan and Aspen, his necromancer girlfriend and his father, will hunt down this demon and attempt to destroy it before it destroys him.

Wow! I learned a lot from this book. One of them being just what a necromancer is. This is a fast paced, wonderful written book. It grabs you from the very first chapter. I read it in one day, it was that good! I love the main charater Caden, he is so cocky and sure of himself but he really steps up to the plate when he need to. He is loyal to his friends, even though most of them are demons. He riskes everything to save the ones he loves. There is some real character growth within this book. It is not all serious though, there are plenty of laughs in this book as well. The author has written a real winner with this book and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Demon Whisperer is a prime example of why Tawny Stokes is one of my favorite Young Adult authors. It’s edgy and dark, with humor, action and well written characters.

Caden is not your average teen. Trained from a young age to be a Exorcist by his Father, this young man has been to hell and back, literally, before he’s even twenty. When an exorcism goes bad his Father is badly disfigured, and he’s placed in a comma. Unlike most comma patients he remembers every moment of his time under because he was running for his life in hell. With the help of a Demon named Dan, and a bargain that comes back to haunt him Caden is able to escape, bringing his friend Dan with him.

Together they come up with the perfect scheme to make money once he wakes up. Dan possesses the rich and famous and Caden “Exorcises” them for a hefty fee. Things are going along well, until Caden’s enemies from hell come to collect their debts.

Thank goodness for day light savings time because I stayed up well past my bedtime to read this in one sitting. I recommend this to woman and men of all ages who like witty writing with a dark supernatural twist, and rock and roll flare.

Although I love my vampires and shifters it is so nice to see something different thrown into the mix and Caden is just that, Different! He’s a hunky, sarcastic, kickass exorcist with a sweet side. The world Stokes has created is original and fun and filled with danger. Stir in some romance, demons, necromancers, zombies, a cat, and a less than trustworthy best friend and you have the exorcism of the century! You get to see Caden struggle with being in his father’s shadow and taking on the responsibilities of an adult while still being a teenager and on top of that, a teenager in love. If the rockin characters and storyline don’t catch your fancy (and they will) Caden’s life will, as there is something we can all relate too. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book because the “sexy teen exorcist” tag doesn’t happen often, but Stokes didn’t let me down. I’m excited that there will be more books in this series and can’t wait to see what happens next!

This story offers a unique twist on the teen paranormal. Caden Butcher is a licensed exorsist who actually spent a year in hell while in a coma. Caden learned to speak Demon and learned that everything has a price. He made friends on the inside. And some enemies...

I couldn't put this one down. Tawny keeps you turning the page right from the get go. CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

Exorcism and Demonic Possession are not my usual choice, when choosing a book. The synopsis of Demons of the Rich and Famous had me intrigued so I decided to try it. I am very happy because I ended up loving Demons of the Rich and Famous. Caden is a rebellious teenager, who just happens also to be a famous exorcist. Caden and his best friend, Dan, target the rich and famous in Hollywood to make money to pay the bills. How do they do this? After picking their target, Dan, who is a demon, possesses the target and Caden exorcises him. While it may seem odd that an exorcist could be friends with a demon, if it was not for Dantalion Caden would have never survived his coma vacation to hell. Then exorcism goes wrong, and Caden discovers he may just be out of his league on this one, and everyone he holds dear maybe in danger.

The characters created by Tawny Stokes are done fantastically and even a little creepy at times. Besides Caden, I would have to say that Dantalion is my favorite character. Their friendship maybe a forbidden one, but I could really sense the camaraderie and bond they have with each other. I also really liked Caden’s girlfriend, Aspen but in this book, I did not get a real perception of her character. I am hoping that I will find out more in the second installment in the Caden Butcher series.

I have to say that I loved the surprises thrown at me throughout the story, and it really kept me turning the page. There is a lot of discoveries made in this book, but I have a feeling that there is much more to discover in the next book, America’s Next Top Zombie. I would really recommend this for fans that enjoy books with a good paranormal twist. Set in a slightly different version of the modern day world, the story has a very realistic setting.

I have to say that I loved the story, the characters, basically everything about Demons of the Rich and Famous. It was a quick read, but very enjoyable. I cannot wait to read the next installment and see what Caden and Dan are up too. I will have to say, Demons of the Rich and Famous is a brilliant start to what I suspect maybe an impressive series.

Caden Butchers life is anything but ordinary. Caden spends his days doing exorcising demons which he has spent all his life training for. After coming out of a coma for a year to find his father injured he begins his career as the Hollywood exorcist. The best part? He gets paid thousands of dollars to do so. However, what nobody knows and what Caden could lose his license over is that all the exorcisms are staged by himself and his best demon friend Dantalion or Dan. Everything in Caden's life seems perfect on the surface.

Caden has dreadful nightmares of his long year spent in Hell. When an exorcism goes wrong Caden's whole life gets turned upside down, and now he's reliving past moments in Hell that got him there. A demon is out to destroy Caden's entire life, and Caden knows who it is. Putting together pieces to find out what this powerful demon is planning takes every bit of know how Caden has. Together with his girlfriend Aspen, his cat, and Dan they set out to stop him before it's too late for Caden, and everyone else he loves. When Caden finally comes face to face with this demon from the past will he have what it takes to stop him, or will he lose everything?

Demons of the Rich and Famous or Demon Whisperer was an interesting read. It's form Caden's POV and I really liked that. I have to say I really enjoy reading more and more male perspectives and Caden's was no exception. He's extremely egotistical but also aware of his weaknesses. is relationship with Aspen is complicated to say the least but he loves her a lot and is fiercely loyal. Dan was my favorite character even though he wasn't in it much. He's always eating, or smoking, or cracking some dark humored joke. The story was interesting to say the least, I wasn't always sure what was going to happen next and was always surprised by a zombie attack. Hope you all can check out a copy of this interesting book, and if you really love it there will be a sequel.

I really enjoyed 'Demon Whisperer' by Tawny Stokes; it was entertaining, fast-paced, and had a nice mix of the supernatural and excitement.
In the novel, Caden Butcher wakes up from a year-long coma to resume his life as a teenage exorcist. While in the coma Caden's spirit spent time in hell and when he regained consciousness he could speak Demon and had befriended a couple of demons. Caden works to support his Dad, also an exorcist, who was badly injured during the exorcism that put Caden in a coma.
Caden is a typical teenager in the sense that he has a girlfriend, fights with his Dad and is sure he can handle the world by himself. During the course of the book, Caden comes to appreciate a little help from his friends and his Dad and figures out he still has a bit of learning to do.
Stokes has included zombie's, necromancer's, demons, and some animal possession into the plot; all of which work well together. At no point during the story did I think that the plot was overdone (for a supernatural themed book). I found Jezebel and Dan intriguing and would like to see how Stokes develops those characters in the next book about Caden. All in all, a fun, quick, YA read. Enjoy!

This was a quick read that captured my attention the entire way through.

The characters were great. Caden has many faults, and knows some of them would really piss his dad off. He's arrogant when it comes to his work as an exorcist. Although, that's not real most of the time. Caden was morally flawed at tomes, but honestly, who can blame him. He spent an entire year in hell with demons that didn't really care for him. I loved seeing him grow throughout the book. Butcher became a little wiser, and hopefully learns to make better decisions. Dan, the demon, was pretty likeable. He's very nonchalant, and doesn't seem to let things rattle him. There are times you question his loyalty to Caden, though. I found it hard to relate to Aspen. She seems cold, and doesn't like to open up. I do hope to see more of her character, and get her story.

There aren't many boring spots. There's always some type of action. Many times it leads to Caden getting his butt kicked, which is why I like his character so much. He's human, and flawed. This could easily be a stand alone, but I believe there will be more. I'm pretty excited about that and hope to delve deeper into Aspen and Dan's lives. It would definitely help us to know why they act the way they do.

3.5 stars!

I'd say for me this was a 3.75 stars. A really good book.

I jumped into it blindly because of the pretty cover (yup! it's me we are talking about, I always do that XD)

And I discovered a highly entertaining and interesting story. I love demons and reading about them but this story also surprised me with zombies.
I wasn't expecting that!

The beginning was insane lol, unique!

Totally fast paced, I devoured it in less than a day.
The writing is fresh and innovative.
The storyline, VERY ORIGINAL.

The characters were ok, I'd love to see a little more depth in them though. I'm waiting to find that in the sequel (that I'm definitely reading).
My favorites were Jezebel and Dan. I hope they'll be in the next book!
Caden was alright but there was something about him that didn't quite attracted me to him.

The end is bittersweet but that just only made me more curious about book 2.

I won a copy of this book in Elle Casey's 2013 January Anniversary Indie Book Giveaway.

Oh boy, what a ride!

Caden Butcher, teen exorcist, read a bit like a John Constantine (Hellblazer) for a new generation. He definitely has the attitude as well as the vulnerabilities. The slightly-alternate world -- basically the same as our modern reality, but for demon possessions and the raising of the dead being relatively common and normal parts of life -- was executed splendidly. It hooked me right in from the first page.

The tongue-in-cheek title "Demons of the Rich and Famous" is perfect, too. It sets tone and shows black humor a lot better than "The Demon Whisperer", the alternate title.

I really loved this, and look forward to Book 2.
To use an expression I normally dislike: This is not your mother's YA. Unless, of course, your mother is a secret bad-ass.

Really liked this. Caden was in a coma for a year but unknown to everyone his soul was in hell. He picked up a few tricks and now can speak Demon. When he eventually gets out he takes over from his father as an exorcist. He made a friend in hell and now Dan helps him make money by possessing some Hollywood types and Caden exorcises him. When an exorcism goes wrong, Cadens life takes a turn for the worst.
Ive had this on my kindle for a while and not knowing anything about it I decided to read it. It hooked me from the start. Caden is a flawed character, he does questionable things. I loved Cadens and Dans friendship. It was an action packed story and Im looking forward to more.

So let's see what we got here.

A teenage exorcist who spent a year in hell, hobnobbing with demons and learning demon speak.

His demon best friend.

His necromancer girlfriend.

And one pissed off demon gunning for him.

I loved this book. I loved that it was told from the point of view of a teenage boy, Caden Butcher. I loved that it was unique (exorcists? Don't see a lot of those in books). I loved that it was a grab you by the throat and take you on a wild ride from page one.

Fantatic. Just...fantastic.
