Er was eens een vredige vallei, diep in het hart van het verre Darshan. Het leven liet zich leiden door de jaargetijden ... en door bijzondere gebeurtenissen.
Zo'n gebeurtenis is het huwelijk van de beeldschone Dyssery met Foris. Het is de enige manier om de goede naam van Dyssery te redden, die het heeft gewaagd in een toneelstuk mee te spelen - en dat mogen alleen mannen! Dus stemt iedereen in met het huwelijk. Iedereen behalve Dyssery. Om aan het dwanghuwelijk te ontsnappen, pleegt de wanhopige Dyssery zelfmoord. Ze komt terecht in de Vallei der Schaduwen, waar de zielen van de doden veel vrijer zijn dan in het land van de levenden. Maar Foris geeft de moed niet op en besluit via een zwaarbewaakte doorgang, de Godenpoort, zijn geliefde terug te halen ...

A lot of lost potential. The drawings and superb, the story quite dull, the characters awful (yes, even our main female character).

Prise a la bibliothèque un peu a l'aveugle, juste car plus jeune j'adorais Lanfeust d'Arleston (le scénariste ici aussi) j'ai été extrêmement déçue par cette BD.

L'histoire de base avait du potentiel et les dessins ne sont pas en cause car ils sont vraiment superbes! Mais alors la façon dont sont développés le scénario et les personnages, je le dis rarement, car souvent je pense que cela dépend juste des goûts mais la c'est asse mauvais.

Particulièrement car on sent que la BD cherche a "dénoncer" la femme objet surfant sur une vague féministe mais au final on fait ici un pas en avant pour deux pas en arrière a chaque page.
On retrouve dans cette BD par exemple toutes les "blagues" qui rendent le harcèlement envers les femmes totalement anodin (et pas que des personnages dénoncé comme "les méchants" hein tout le monde s'y met) comme on retrouve souvent dans certains mangas de l’époque. (montre moi ta culotte, je peux toucher tes seins.... bref tout le monde connait et a la longue c'est lourd)
Spoiler: Aussi l’héroïne a une personnalité complètement fade, qu'on ne développe pas vraiment au delà des clichés (en gros c'est Mulan sans personnalité et Mushu pervers), son mari aussi (mariage forcé) n'a aucune crédibilité au final, un instant c'est le pire des tortionnaire envers l’héroïne et en deux pages vers la fin il devient prince au grand cœur qui a fait tout ça par amour? meh.

Bref c'etait prometteur mais ca s’avère être une lecture très décevante pour moi, qui remet en question les lectures de ma jeunesses. Libre a chacun d'aller la lire après et d'en avoir un avis totalement différent :)

Девушку в феодальной Японии выдают замуж, а всё, что она когда-либо хотела - играть в театре (при том что в глазах общества пасть ниже можно лишь в борделе). Дальше ей предстоит путешествие в царство мёртвых, где можно быть кем угодно... до определённой степени.

Очень странная книжка (оказывается, шестая в цикле, но по сюжету это совсем не чувствуется). Повествование стремится сразу во все стороны - и комедия, и серьёзные вопросы женской эмансипации, и любовная история... В итоге сюжет получается достаточно рваным и комканым, а финал оставляет в недоумении.

Нарисовано приятно, очень понравился персонаж озабоченного бесёнка и некоторые другие представители загробного мира. В остальном как-то вяло.

The young Dyssëry resident of Darshan Valley has a bad reputation, all because she has a passion for theater, an art usually reserved for men and whores. She is the victim of tradition and society. Phorée, a rich merchant in the region wishes to marry her as much as to put her back on the right path but also for a night of the most interesting love experiences. But she decided to complete the wedding ceremony with her death, and put an end to the misunderstanding and all the blame put on her. Never mind, Phorée will leave for the Valley of Shadows to find his beloved one, as Orpheus braving death to bring Eurydice to life.
The drawing of Virginia Augustin, who has shown adventures of the beautiful heroine, deserves to be mentioned.
Mostly impeccable, rather unusual narration, may have missed the points here and there but the reading is pleasant, with no special dramatic tension, while humor, except in the person of Zebl the little demon, is not used that often. It is also unfortunate that the main characters have not been further deepened, the overall impression is also somewhat weighed down by dialogues that were more inspired by the past.
Finally, travel to Shadows should not displease the fantasy lovers. The story deals with interesting topics such as tradition, moral values and dedication to life goals.
