Featuring the worldly wise DI Brock and his wry sidekick DS Poole
When DI Brock is called to attend the scene of a traffic accident, he doesn't see how it's any of his business. But then it turns out the woman's body discovered in the ditch alongside the crashed car was not involved in the accident. What's more, the woman was naked and covered in vicious whip marks. Unpleasant as it might be, this is very definitely Brock's business.

The second book of Ison’s I’ve read in this series and I love his writing style as well as the two main characters, DI Brock and DS Poole.
Brock is old school unpolitically correct, technophobe who has too many years behind him to believe a single word his suspects say and he loves the way his protege, Poole asks throw away inquisitive questions when the suspects least expect them, but Brock would never let Poole know how pleased he is with his line of questioning as he feels this would undermine his supposedly superior knowledge of police work.
I won’t go in to details of the storyline as this can easily be found in the blurb but hasten to say it really has you tooing and froing as to which suspect did it almost to the end.
On to the next one, me 🤔 thinks.
