Truth and Fiction Mixed

Bob Young, the author is a man of many, often too many words. Some of the characters are skimpy. However, Treasure Train is an enjoyable tale based on events at the end of the Civil War. I was nudged to read the true saga of events surrounding efforts to keep the Confederate Treasury safe.

I was led to this book through History Channel's (U.S. television) series Curse of Civil War Gold, hoping that it would fill in some of the gaps in my research about Confederate gold for the writing of my third book in my historical-fiction series. It did that and much more! This Civil-War enthusiast was gifted an entertaining read filled with adventure, mystery, romance, and insight into the Confederacy during its final days. Kudos to Author Bob Young for hooking the reader into his story right from the opening scene. He masterfully evoked the five senses, making us readers feel as though we were in the thick of battle right along with his primary protagonist, Confederate Captain Patrick Graham.
