Summertime is here. Little Critter heads off for a day at his grandparents' farm. He loves to fish in the pond and collect frogs, but he doesn't love to swim. Little Critter doesn't really know how to swim. But with the help of some bees he's kicking and paddling like a pro.
Mercer Mayer is an American children's author and illustrator. He has published over 300 books, using a wide range of illustrative styles. Mayer is best known for his Little Critter and Little Monster series of books.
The best part about Little Critter books is truly the illustrations. I really enjoy them, and I always love looking to see what the spider and mouse are up to!
My son received this book for the Christmas right after his first birthday. He liked the book so much that he ate the back cover. I took it away from him because I'm a mom.
Over the past few months, I've been giving my now-four year old son back the books that he literally devoured when he was younger. Now he just figuratively devours them.
Little Critter books are wonderful because my little critter has no trouble seeing himself in Mayer's adorably drawn Little Critter. This past weekend, he spent quite a bit of time with his grandparents, so a Little Critter book featuring grandparents was perfect.
This book is nice to read to instill how spending time with family can be fun and important too cause its always nice to have family time. I think reading this book to the class can just be a nice way to talk about family and how important they are.
Love all the Little Critter books. This one has a cute twist regarding Brother Critter's reluctance to go near the water. My boys loved it because, well, ponds. And bees. And fishing.
