Channing Best needs the healing of a broken heart after her husband and best friend Mal's death. Retreat, located off the coast of Florida, is a counseling center that might be her best shot. But she finds more than she bargained for the first night she's there in the form of a leather clad hunk with a whip who's not afraid to use it and a werewolf who haunts her every move.

Adolph Darling, a scarred but seductive man with a name only a sadistic mother could give him, wants to be whole, too, and free to truly love someone. When he meets Channing Best, he knows he wants her under his whip, but can he take her unconditional love for him, flaws and all?

**This title contains sensual/erotic romance.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Channing needs to get away to mend herself after the death of her husband. So, she decides to go to Retreat, a counseling center that is located on an island off the coast of Florida. While there, she met a man called Adolph, who is more than what he seems.

THOUGHTS

This has a great cover and a likable title, however, this story did not connect with me. It's a novella that is very short, no complaints there; I just needed more. The plot of the story wasn't strong enough. With a title as ‘Lashed’ I was preparing myself for a rollercoaster ride of excitement. It felt like words being used to get to the erotica scenes and not a story. Adolph, I was confused by him, as the hero I wasn't drawn to him. All these were emotions and thoughts that came to mind while I was reading this story.

I just didn't understand why the wolves had to be werewolves and Adolph had to be magic. It gave NOTHING to the story. Other than Channing saying she just knew they were werewolves, and he confirming it, there wasn't a single other factor that relied on that knowledge.
It was so unnecessary that it was absurd.
If you are going to make them werewolves, and him magic, there has to be a story there, somewhere. If you aren't going to make a story out of it somewhere, then they can be just wolves and a guy.

Other than that, I think I could have liked the story a bit more if the writer had taken this novelette into a much lengthier scale. There just wasn't room for the characters to become believable or for me to connect with either of them. The scenes weren't plausible because they were so truncated. And the I love you's after, what, a day? From both of them?
No... Nope I just can't get on board with this one.
