After graduating from The University of Sheffield with an English Literature Masters in 2003, Melanie has been writing fiction - time permitting - ever since.
'Hope's Daughter', released in December 2011, was Melanie's debut novel and the first release from The Ambrosia Sequence, a YA dystopian series. The companion book 'The Rainbow Maker's Tale' was released in late 2013.
Children's book 'Faris and Jack' came out in 2016, bringing magic, horses and Hoofers together in an exciting new adventure story. Three further books in the 'Faris' series are planned, the next due for release in early 2018.
Melanie's latest YA project - due in 2023 - is 'Cirque de la Nuit' a stand-alone paranormal novel, before she returns to completing The Ambrosia Sequence, with three further books.
When she's not writing Melanie enjoys the wet weather of the north of England with her dogs or disappearing into a book for a few hours (no surprise there then).
We got to read this several times during development and so we've seen a few versions now... loved seeing Balik and Cassie again and can't wait for Outlanders, although we've not been allowed to read any of that yet :(
This was really beautiful. I loved how Cassie took care of Balik for the first 2 chapters. It was so sweet and amazing what she accomplished for him. At the end of Hope's Daughter I didnt realize he was so badly hurt. Poor Balik. I dont like how Cassie is keeping a secret from Balik though. Although I understand why, it is going to come back to bite her. But I guess that is how it is kept interesting. Everything cant be easy for them from now on or it would make for poor storytelling. Regardless of her secret, she loves him. And he loves her and that is what will get them through in the end.
"I will not let anything hurt you." "I will not let anything come between us." "You and me." "Always."
That was really interesting! I really love Balik and Cassie together and this made me love them more. And the best part, It put me ahead on my GR reading challenge :D I cannot wait for the next book, if only it would come sooner!
Some notes I'd written down: . Didn't think about language barrier . Good thing Cassie is so knowledgeable about medical things, otherwise Balik probably would have died . Weird how at the end of hopes daughter it wasn't obvious that Balik was injured and now it is evident he is way worse than was thought at the end of hope's daughter, so it's kind of a shock but then again he had had adrenaline . the epilogue skipped so much, but yet was still so long . It is crazy how fatigued Cassie was at the end, that she was just barely able to save Balik and herself before collapsing! She wasn't this bad off at the end at all! How did she become so unstable so quickly? . She's crying because she loves him so much and he's recovered that is the cutest thing EVERRRRR . You and me always it's their super cute little catch phrase! Their dedication and love for each other is so strong, it's definitely real
